I went to Cozy for the first time a few months ago and had no idea what to order. The lady behind the counter suggested their balsamic grilled chicken wrap with roasted peppers and mozz cheese ... SO happy I listened to her, the wrap was great.
Good customer service, food takes about 5 minutes to prepare after ordering.
I can't believe I haven't posted a review for Cozy yet! Â I lived on Cozy for about 4 years when I worked in Union. Â Not sure where to start so let's just go with breakfast, ok? Â First I would like to thank the small minded and mostly unintelligent worker girls I used to work with for submitting my name to their lunch contest without my permission. Â That was a gift. Â My first week I won first lunch and that's how the affair began. Â Went with the potato and eggwich with a side of grits. Â YUMMY for my tummy! Â
The sandwich was big and on a kaiser. Â I love kaiser rolls. Â The grits were still piping hot when my boy Derek delivered them. Derek is the 2nd reason I ordered so often. Â He was cool, like not a delivery driver. Â Came in my office and actually kicked it with me. Â Can't understand how the hell he got everyone their food hot because I know he chats with other customers too! Â But he does it and for that reason I love him. Â Now, moving along to lunch. Â I am a Roast Beef sandwich girl. And their RB is killer. Â They make it and they layer it on the kaiser super thick too. Â Slammin! Â I have also eated thenr BLT club, Cheesesteak, Chicken Caesar wrap, and havee had their corned beef on rye. All were just what G-wiz needed. Â
Cozy is located on Rahway ave in Union. Â Go up Morris Ave and make a left on Rahway by Cafe Z. Â It's on a corner on the left. Â They are cheap too! Â Not the quality of food or service, the prices. Â Dolla dolla all day baybay!!
The neighborhood lunch counter, Cozy Corner has been around forever. Â The setting is very 60's, with the spinning counter seats and a few tables. Â My guess is that they probably do far more deliveries ($1 fee, no minimum), and they are good (but not perfect) at packing their orders complete. Â I guarantee that unless you've recently been paroled, the food won't impress you-- it is, however, as-advertised and reasonably well-made. Â Their club sandwiches are almost always my choice, and I keep coming back.
Parking can be a bit tight in their lot, and blocking a lane of traffic to park on the street isn't a good idea. Â I've never found the crew who works here particularly friendly, but the delivery guys usually are.
Cozy has been around since before I was born. It's only a few blocks away from my house, but it took me until a hungry day in college to ever try their stuff. I ordered a turkey/cheese on whole wheat and I got a turkey/cheese on whole wheat. I got what I ordered.
Cozy will not blow you away. It's a breakfast/lunch spot for the local businesses and the truckers on their routes passing through Union. Does it do the job for the person that just needs a quick bite to eat? Absolutely. However, it isn't going to make you crave another sandwich.
Cozy is a cheap, reliable (always open), and get what you order kind of place. If that you what you desire, then you will be a reoccurring customer.
I'll start by saying I've never actually been to this deli but my co-worker and I ordered lunch from here yesterday using a Yelp deal. Â I really like this place for several reasons:
1) Their menu has an ample amount of food items to choose from including breakfast and lunch and low carb/healthy options (yay for me!)
2) Their food is made to order. Â So let's say the grilled chicken sandwich comes with roasted red peppers but you'd rather have another topping? Â You got it! Â
3) Prices are really reasonable and portion sizes are adequate- not too large, not too small. Â Goldilocks would love this place.
4) They will deliver even for 1 order with a $1 delivery fee. Â No longer do you need to order from someplace you don't like just because that's where everyone else is ordering from!
5) You can place your entire order online if you'd rather not call it in. Â Ordering online is unbelievably easy and you can even add special notes for each item you order. Â And the absolute BEST part of their online ordering is you can split the check with a co-worker if neither of you has cash- you can pay with up to 5 different credit cards AND include the tip while you're at it! Â Although I had to order by phone because of the Yelp deal, the guy on the phone was very friendly and didn't rush me through my order like some delis tend to do near lunch time. Â
6) The food came quickly and it was delicious. Â I will definitely be making this my new deli any time I forget to bring my lunch to work.
7) They are clearly enlightened business owners who appreciate a good Yelper, hence the Yelp deal :)
Give it a try, I promise you won't be disappointed.
a little mom n pop luncheonette. Â good food, good size portions, and quick service with a smile. good cup of bottmless coffee for $1.35 (suck it, starbucks!)
sure its dated, but it reminds me of the corner luncheonettes i remember from when i was a kid. Â
I prefer going to a place like this rather than a chain because i know its locally owned, and the food quality shows. Â
I will return to this place without a doubt.
I really liked this place for some nice subs. On the outside, and even on the inside, it doesn't look so great. But service was excellent and they had a menu of a number of subs (and breakfast items, which we'll check out sometime later). We ordered a three cheese sub, which was big. But what was really tasty were the potato skin french fries. DELICIOUS. And this place was not that expensive at all -- though both times we've been there, we tipped more since the service was so good. We plan to return to try their breakfast, and perhaps other dishes on the lunch menu.
Review Source:I stopped in for the first time during my lunch break today. They seem to be fairly quick, friendly and I like that they make food to order. I had a grilled chicken wrap, which was both very healthy and delish. Decor is dated, but I think that's it's charm. I'll definitely return soon.
Review Source:ok food, nothing to rave about. To be honest it seems like they don't take time to prepare their meals. I never actually eaten at the deli itself( food was always delivered) but the times when I have stopped in there it did not look very appetizing. Very old decor and the staff were not that friendly along with some of the patrons who would prefer the whites only bathroom.
