Based on our one-time experience, I don't know why Granary Tavern doesn't garnish a high rating...or more reviews. It's certainly worthy.

We shared a watermelon salad. We so appreciated the cool, refreshing fruit & that bite of mint. Sticky, humid Boston nights ain't no joke.

We should've shared their chicken & waffles...we both only ate half! Loved the giant waffle with deep pockets perfect for filling w/ maple syrup & that delightful honey butter. Two pieces of white meat chicken coated in a sweet, thick, crispy, dark brown batter. The first chix & waffles that made me think it's not only Roscoe's (in LA) who knows what they're doin' with that dish.

Both our waitress & busser gal were attentive & friendly. Complaint about the other waitresses--it was obvious we were trying to flag down someone (for hot sauce) & a few waitresses deliberately passed us by or wouldn't make eye contact. They could've at least offered to track down our waitress; it wasn't super busy. End of bitchin'.

The downstairs room is great for functions and receptions. The service is good and drinks are solid. Also, you can't beat the location.

We stopped in for a quick snack and shared the margarita pizza. It was good but nothing too special. We sat outdoors but were disappointed that the road was so close to the seating that the traffic was really loud. I recommend eating inside -- the decor is interesting and you don't have the traffic in the background.

I dig the atmosphere here. Nustled in the back of the financial district, Granary Tavern boasts an awesome beer selection and intriguing menu. It's a little off the beaten path but I recommend it - highly.

Clam Chowder - a little watery/soupy for my taste and definitely not as many clams but hey... you had me at bacon.

Steak Frites - cooked to perfect, perfect size, cool spicy sauce. Sign. Me. Up.

Whale's Tale on tap along with various others --- good choices, y'all.

Great any night of the week for dinner/drinks. Our service was excellent.

I was with some guest from out of town, and we couldn't find a place that wasn't douchey or pretentious. Finally, we found the Granary, no rules, nothing stupid, just come in, have a drink and enjoy.

They've got some pretty nice cocktails so don't miss out on them . The prices are what you'd expect for the are.

I would like to come back for food, but the overall atmosphere and service was excellent.

I work around the corner, so we come her many times for lunch when we have folks in town or when we have a client in sort of thing.   The atmosphere and ambiance in this place is nice.  Very kinda midwest like.

Food is fine at this place.  I woudnt characterize it as 5 star, but for lunch/pub fare its a bit above the crappy standards set up a lot of these types of places in the area.   It offers an interesting mix of different menu items, which is somewhat daunting when you look at the menu.  I somewhat feel like the chef or whomever designed the menu was like, "lets just try to throw a bunch of stuff on here and see what sticks", so it becomes just a hodge-podge of several different genres.

What I also like about this spot is that its open late.  For example, I came here with the girl for a reasonably quieter experience than the Faneuil bar we were hanging out in earlier in the night.  That's a nice touch.

So if you are sick of the Faneuil scene, which we all do sometimes and at some point in the night, this is a good option to get away from all that pre-teen drunk fest garbage.  Check it out.

This is our go to spot when we have people in town or if we want a good meal for a good price. Everything we have ordered is amazing. The pizza, the fried chicken, the lobster roll (I seem to always get it and its better each time). The waitstaff is always attentive never had an issue there. This place is good for date night and its even better if you are with a group and want to watch a game. The downstairs has a cool bar and TV's. They have outdoor seating as well.

Downtown with kids on Saturday after disembarking from a Sunset cruise, we thought there's no way a cute place like this would have outdoor space much less be friendly to kids. Could not have been more wrong. It was 8:30 and the hostess greeted my husband with "are you looking for a table?" and set us up right away (vs that lukewarm stare you often get from twentysomething waitstaff like "ugh are kids even allowed here?"), INCLUDING etcha-sketches for the kids with kids menus taped to the back - genius!  The kids corn dogs were excellent (I've had crappy corn dogs in my lifetime), and the lamb flatbread and olive/feta etc were savory and totally satisfying.  Pricey sure, but that's what you get for downtown, and I felt like money was well spent.  The waitstaff were all just enough attentive and courteous, did not get a bad vibe at all.  Thanks for being so accomodating, we go downtown alot with the kids so we will be back (and would love  to come WITHOUT, sometime in the winter even as it's super cozy inside).

I started going here for their beer collection. I'm a fan of the delicious Kentucky Bourbon Ale and they have it on tap. Service at the tables could be better, so you are better off by the bar if they have seats available.

Nothing special and the service is HORRIBLE.

Which is unfortunate because it has potential: the place is really cool with both an intimately lit but still not-too-romantic indoor area and outdoor seating for warm weather enjoyment.  And the food is.. well... decent.

But good luck getting a server to grace you with their presence or attention.      Apparently they're expecting to make money by allowing the food and drinks to serve themselves.

Cons: place smells like a fish tank. Menu is bland and so is the food. Overpriced. $9 for a watery clam chowder. The chicken tenders tasted like soggy fish.

Pros: Good location. Nice atmosphere. Waitress and hostess were very accommodating and attentive.

Granary shines in a four-block radius of taverns built to prey on the wealthy and pressed for time.

The menu is a balance of everyman favorites (Granary Burger with egg, bacon and cheese) and the rarely-found 'round the Financial (Blackened Catfish? Chicken and Waffles?). An open, comfortable dining room houses far too squared tables - great for putting distance between girls' night and the sloppy suit who takes a stool across the plateau, bad for lovesick couples that want to hold hands or break it off discreetly. Chairs are comfy, there's a wagon wheel or two on the walls, and the servers are some of the more genuine folks in the area.

Pleasant lunch! Catfish blackened is priced reasonably at $14/15 (depending on the clock) and plated as such, topped with slaw and an unnecessary BBQ sauce, and a side salad of baby greens, radishes shreds and red onion (chips are standard, can be subbed). My only suggestion: the brioche bun is shiny, beautiful and looks great when Instagrammed, we know, but the whole sandwich is one note texturally. Maybe a crusty French loaf to complement the tender, flaky fish? The housemade bread and butter pickles are stellar, an even battle of sweet and tangy.

Perhaps it's the intentional contrast of sunlight drenched windows against the oft-overdone gastropub cave ambiance with such low visibility as to make everyone beautiful, but I really felt like I could sit here for an extended period, quaffing an adult beverage or seven, ordering a sampler of entrees and chatting (across a massive table) with friends for the good part of day playing hooky. One more backwards glance at the patio, and I think I have a plan for next week.

This place is around the corner from my office and I've been a few times. The atosphere is nice with exposed brick, and dark floors. They've got outdoor seating and a 2nd bar downstairs that'd be great to rent out for a night.
Their menu is good but I'd say it's slightly limited. Lobster roll and the chicken sandwhich are great but the best thing on the menu - chicken and waffles! I see this crop up on menus more and more lately and the Granary does 'em right!!

This is, without a doubt, the worst place I went to while in Boston. Food quality isn't even a point of discussion as the horrible service overshadows all else. I had to get up and find my waitress so I could order our food, get a refill, and get the check. The only people I interacted with at our table was the hostess that sat us, and the bar back that brought us our food. They should be called Grandmas Tavern as the service is crawling slow.

Boston has too many great choices to even consider this place.

Stumbled on this place while walking around by the aquarium. Very cool interior and was pretty full early on a Saturday evening. We actually left and walked around the block before going back in and realizing there was a whole downstairs with another bar. The downstairs area is pretty cool - you don't realize you're in a basement, or maybe you do and you just don't care.

The drink menu has some interesting cocktails and there is a great selection of seasonal local beers on draft. Friendly bartenders, plenty of tv's everywhere and some unique pub fare. We'll definitely be back - this time on purpose.

    Very nice place but loud.

Wedge salad with sirloin was good but could have been a little bigger.

My friend had the burger- said it was in the top 5 burgers he has ever had.

I totally loved this place.  I had driven by it before and it looked cool.  The yelp reviews said it was cool, and by golly, it was a cool place.  It was probably completely uncool to go mid-day post-aquarium and with a kid, but hey, I'll take what I can get.  The food was great, the decor and atmosphere was inviting and it was overall a good place to get a few drinks and while away the time.  I wish it was in my backyard so I could be a regular.  Really.  And, I didn't feel old in there.  Sometimes when you go out for drinks in Boston you can feel old even at 29, but not here.... and, not that I'm 29!!

    Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I wanted to like this place a lot more than I actually did. I love Gastropubs, but if you are going to call yourself a Gastropub, like Granary Tavern does, you need to bring your A-game for both your food and your beer selection, and Granary didn't deliver on both counts for me.

Maybe I just ordered the wrong things. Started with the Harpoon IPA Fondue, which was tasty, but had quite possibly the worst consistency of any fondue that I've ever had. If you're going to do fondue, it needs to be creamy, with the cheese fully melted in whatever liquid you use. Nope, not here. This is literally a bunch of melted cheese sitting in a small pool of beer.... completely separated from each other. Again, tasty, but easily the worst fondue I've ever had consistency wise. Also had the grilled asparagus salad, which was good. No complaints there.

For entrees, I had the grilled pork loin, and the Mrs. had the steak frites. For $22, I would expect more than two small pieces of pork. Granted, they were tasty, and the house made BBQ had the right mix of tang and heat. Came on a huge pile of mashed potatoes, which had a whole cow's worth of butter in them. Delicious, but deadly (Simpsons reference anyone...) The steak for the steak frites was cooked well and the chimichurri was a nice accompaniment. However, the fries were slightly undercooked and were served lukewarm. Big no-no for steak frites. They should be hot and crispy.

As for the beer list, it's a pretty standard mix of macro and micro brews. Nothing exotic, and nothing that I hadn't tried before. Lagunitas IPA- always a crowd pleaser, but I can get it at a thousand other places. Sierra Nevada Kellerweis- See above. Sam Summer- Lather, Rinse, Repeat. IMO, gastropubs should have an eclectic mix of brews, with at least one or two things I haven't tried before. Granary did not deliver on this count.

I'll go back and order different things. The homemade garlic chips appeared to be pretty popular, as well as the flatbreads. I think I'll go with those next time, and update my review accordingly.

Very loud. I mean really, amazingly, ear achingly loud. I loved the bottom level though. It felt very rustic. The menu was pretty good. We tried a flat bread pizza as a starter and it was the best part of the meal. My clam chowder was super salty. My partner's salmon dish was just okay. The potatoes and cabbage portion was overly salty and tiny. They had a great selection of beers. Our waitress was friendly. The prices were reasonable for Boston. I probably wouldn't return as it was just too loud- I left with a headache.

This is a relaxing, spacious gastropub. There is heated outdoor seating into the colder months of the year, which is great for taking in the bustle of the North End. The music, decor, and menu all gave this place more of a younger, trendier atmosphere than a lot of the other businesses in the area, which are, appropriately, more touristy/kitschy.

The interior is decorated with framed pieces of burlap and naval rope, which seems to be a trend among hip eateries of late. This sort of decor usually reminds me of this episode of "I Love Lucy", in which Ricky convinces Lucy that potato sacks are the new "it" dress of Parisian haute couture, but actually works in the context of the industrial setting of both the building and the neighborhood.

I've been here only a few times, but I would say that what I have tried on the menu (mostly burgers and beer) are decent but not spectacular. The chicken and waffles is definitely their best item. This is a great place for a night out if you are a young business professional living in the area and want a hip bar to blow some disposable income, or are a group of visiting twenty-somethings wanting to check out historic Boston.

So so glad that I was able to try this place out! What a fun spot for small group dinner and drinking sessions!

I have to say that at first, walking from Downtown crossing to this place at night on a weeknight, it seemed a little strange since that whole area leading up to this place is pretty much a dead zone with no people, no open businesses, no signs of life....but then you walk into Granary Tavern and bam! people! life! booze! food! It was almost like being transported to a new world with how quiet the streets were around this place! And I was glad we had a reservation too, since there was a wait for tables! On a Tuesday night! Clearly this place knows how to run a business.

The decor is pretty cool I have to say. Dimly lit, almost like you are in an old fashioned tavern and we didn't get to eat in their basement area but that area with the exposed walls and such was nice too. I love restaurants that try to create a different ambiance than the other places in Boston. So star for that!

Food wise, everyone in our group was pretty darn happy I have to say. Sarah H. got their lobster roll and it was overflowing with lobster and came with these nicely baked chips. I got the lamb and cheese with basil spicy mint flatbread and wow. Was I glad I ordered that. So much flavor! Matt J. was definitely jealous, although he and Joey L. both liked their tavern burgers a lot and those fries were pretty much the definition of addicting. Lizzie O. got their chicken and waffles, and I had expected a little more out of that dish I guess (other than the literal mountain of butter that they provided that Lizzie slyly pushed aside ha ha). Oh and we had started with their harpoon beer fondue which was good, but after I heard so many rave about it, it was a bit watery to me, and not enough bread to fondue ratio either.

But this place was lively and fun and the service was great, so I will definitely be back here!

Food gets a straight 5 star just on presentation alone!!! I ordered the wedge salad with steak tips for lunch and it was HUGE and DELICIOUS!!!  Best salad I've ever had.
Atmosphere was really nice...great light fixtures, industrial/hip kind of look.  Very cool.
The service was fine - no complaints from the 6 top we had.
The beer menu was better than average too.
Overall a really good experience...and would go back in a heartbeat.

After the recent Yelp newsletter on Chicken & Waffles, how could I not give this a try? More importantly... How the hell did I not know this existed?!

The restaurant itself has a great decor. We went for lunch and the atmosphere was nice. We were greeted by the staff who were really nice, and our waitresses were super friendly! They were great at recommending beers.

The Chicken & Waffles. Oh my god. It was just so good. The waffles were cooked perfectly, and the syrup glazed fried chicken was just heaven... paired with the beer, how could you not be happy? Starters were amazing too.

Definitely love this place and will be back.

Finally made my way in last Thursday. Made reservation the night before. I've great comments about this place. Not hard to see why. Got there at 6pm on Valentine's Day. Kudo's for offering your regular menu in addition to a special evening menu. I hate that on Valentine's Day restaurants offer only a prix fixe menu. HATE THAT! Granary you are the best for not doing this. That's already an A+ in my book.

Friendly hostesses. Professional and welcoming server. Just sitting down from this nice welcome bodes well. I love the decor. Very modern and sleek but not cold. Had a very nice warm vibe and ambiance. I would love to eat here during the day to see the light beaming into the space.

Started out with the Garlic Chips and Dip. Love them! My wife wanted more garlic though. LOL! We had some packed to go at the end of the meal. Got home less than 10 minutes and I already finished them off. Great starter.

I had the Granary Burger and my wife ordered the Butter Poached Lobster on Pea Risotto. Both were exellent. It was a very well crafted burger. Anytime you put an egg on a burger is a good thing. Nice runny yolk gives the burger richness that I enjoy. Great fries with two dipping sauces. The Butter Poached Lobster was nicely executed with a creamy pea risotto. The fried sweet potato chips as garnish was a nice touch. Nice to have that crunchy texture component against all the creaminess of the dish.

All in all a very nice evening. Thanks for a great meal and fantastic service. Looking forward to coming back.

You're in the Financial District and you don't want an Irish bar, a place that serves $2 High Lifes or a complex of karaoke, dancing and chicken on a stick. So where do you go? Granary Tavern.

I've been here a few times for business related happy hours - casual gatherings of buyers and sellers who just want a nice cocktail and some finger foods and Granary Tavern is perfect for that...or anytime you and some friends want drinks and eats after work.

Early in the week, this place doesn't get too busy (yet), so if you have a large group you'll most likely be able to grab a booth in the back area or the large table with tall stools right in front of the bar.

Unfortunately, my Weight Watchers plan dictates that I have wine spritzers during happy hours, but the fact that the server didn't give me a funny look when I ordered it earned this place some points. But don't fret, they have a full beer and cocktail list and I encourage you to go calorie crazy.

For apps, Granary hits the spot with Garlic Chips (made in house) and Dip and Spiced Popcorn. The Chicken Fried Chicken is better than your normal bar chicken tender - it's moist, flaky and light. The Calamari is grilled, not fried (!) and is still packed with flavor. If you want something a little more substantial but still easy to share, try a flatbread. I'm partial to mushrooms, so the Porcini is my choice. If you're looking for meat, though, the Sausage with ricotta and Lamb & Feta are worthy options.

So thank you Granary Tavern for upping the after-work scene in the Financial District.

I went to the Granary Tavern for a girls night. My friends wanted a cucumber cocktail, however, we were informed that they were out of mint (a bit tough for a Sat night when Haymarket is down the street). The cocktail I decided on was good and typical pricing for Boston. We ordered the fondue to start which was a great bar snack! I ended up ordering the chicken and waffles which was good but didn't blow my mind. As our entrees came out, we were informed that one of my friend's flatbread had been dropped on the floor. The staff acted accordingly, asked her if she wanted a salad while she waited, and then when it came out a few minutes later, comped 2 deserts for her trouble. Well done!

All in all, good bar scene and I would definitely go back for drinks and bar snacks.

I'm a pretty big fan of Granary Tavern. The food is pretty delicious and the atmosphere is very nice and industrial chic.

    Reasons why I like Granary:
    - A few of my favorite local bottled beers including Slumbrew Happy Sol and Cisco Grey Lady.
    - The fried oyster po-boy is really good.
    - The shaved brussels sprout chips are amazingly crunchy and delicious. Highly recommend.
    - A really nice outdoor patio for summer days.

This is a nice addition to the financial district area, with consistently nice American food and a great central location.

I have been to Granary Tavern a handful of times now and will keep coming back.  They hit all five main points for my repeat business:

    - Staff - the staff here is unbelievable.  Every member has been fantastic.  I held the birds portion of "Birds and the Bees" UYE here.  Head count was open to interpretation, as it usually is with Yelp events.  They gladly sat me at a table for 8 and added on when more people showed up.  Yesterday my friend ran half an hour late; no problem to them.
Every waiter/waitress has been ideal as well.  Yesterday was a ton of girl talk and indecision.  Our waitress did not bat an eye at coming back three times for our order and splitting the check x amount of ways.  I love not feeling rushed.

    - Food - I have had an array of dishes from here (burger, flatbread, sandwich, steak frites, cheese dip, popcorn, salad, etc.).  Some shine more than others, but nothing has been bad.  My favorites have been the farmhouse salad, steak frites, grilled corn (only a lunch time appetizer sadly), and popcorn.

    - Drinks - all categories are well stocked and decision making is usually tough. Last night I was all wine.  Previously I have gone 100% beer and on other occasions been all cocktails.  My friend last night commented that the ginger cocktail may have been the best she's ever had.  My other friend ordered the dessert drink (chocolate peppermint) that was delicious.

    - Decor - this is one of the few places that can double as work appropriate and socially appropriate.  The inside is classy, warm, and inviting.  Just trust me on this.  It is worth seeing.

    - Location: about a five minute walk from my office, Granary Tavern will stay on my short list of places to visit often

Having dined here on both a gorgeous, warm summer day on the patio and a freezing, blustery winter day in the warm, cozy and inviting dining room - I would definitely say this is as good as it gets as far as lunch in the area.  On both occasions my group received attentive and friendly service (during a lunch rush that meant a packed restaurant) and the food was fantastic.  I have only had lunch here (I always seem to forget about this place), but will definitely try drinks after work.

The clam chowder is rich, smoky (mmm bacon..) and lick your bowl delicious, the flat breads are fantastic (crust is awesome), the sandwiches are huge and filling and I am also a huge fan of the fish tacos (Friday's special).

Drink menu is great, beer and wine selection is awesome, the atmosphere is unprentious yet upscale pub with great service.  The Granary was a great addition to this area.

Like other yelpers have stated, this was one of the few times where someone recommended a restaurant to me that i'd just NEVER heard of.  This one seemed to open up under the radar, because it came as a (very welcome) surprise to my Sunday afternoon shopping trip!

In an odd place, yes, but much better than the surrounding bars (The Times, Jose Macs, An Tain, etc), Granary has a large seating area with lots of polished wood and windows lining the walls.  It's not "light", per se, in this pub, but it doesn't give off that dingy old bar vibe either.

Prices are pretty decent, and the menu has some nice pub-fare choices.  As far as price/value goes, this is definitely more on the high-end of bar food, but the quality and taste certainly matches the price.

The sriracha chicken appetizer is a generous portion of crispy fried chicken (boneless) doused in sriracha sauce and served with a ranch-like dipping sauce. These are a bit spicy but manageable for any cock-sauce lover.  There were about 6 chicken strips to an order, and for $8 or so, this seemed reasonable.

The waitress, when asked what the best item on the menu was, widened her eyes and got silent.  After a while, she responded: "the chicken and waffle. of course."  Oops, apparently this was common knowledge and I did not get the memo.  For $14, the large waffle covered the plate and was topped with a giant piece of fried chicken.  Yes, this chicken was bone-in, but for such a large piece, there was a very small chicken bone! (Hormone-fed chicken? perhaps but it was tasty) The chicken was battered and fried, so the outside was crunchy and seasoned, while the inside was surprisingly juicy.  The plate was covered in maple syrup, but in a very, very good way.  While chicken/waffle connoisseurs may not share my same thoughts here, I thought it was pretty freaking delicious.

The oyster po' boy fell very flat.  It was on sort of a half-size hot dog roll (who serves a sandwich on a half-size roll, with a few kettle chips, and charges $12 for it!?) that had been grilled to too-crusty/crumbly consistency.  The oysters themselves were delicious, but the entire sandwich needed to be dressed with something to add some flavor, as the plate was very bland.  The sandwich came with a small pile of greasy-yet-crunchy (how do they do that?) kettle chips, but for the price tag, i'd have expected either fries or, um, you know, a full-size sandwich.  This dish was definitely a "rip off" value when you account for the price/size/taste, so I wouldn't recommend anyone order it.

Drinks were decent - few OK beers on tap and some $10 cocktails that were on the weak side of alcoholic (maybe this is why we weren't carded!).

The server was very friendly and the space was open, clean, and nice for a bar-atmosphere.

Recommend visiting? Sure, but stay away from the po' boy if you don't want to feel like you're just burning money.

Holy cow where did this place come from?? I was taking my two kids to the aquarium and originally just stopped in to see if we could use there restroom. But once we were inside the food looked too good to pass on! the fatty in me won at and all of a sudden we were sitting down. You know how had it is to find a fried oyster sandwich in Boston? Very hard! My son got the burger and wouldn't shut up about it the rest of the day. My little girl got the kids fish and chips and cleared her plate before i did! you say medium rare then that's what you get.

Good looking staff too if your into that!

Definitely coming back for that Irish bacon and fig pizza though

So I actually live next door to this place and it has quickly become one of my favorite hangouts. The decor is amazing. They took a lot of care to restore a lot of the old feel of the building with a lot of exposed brick  and steel and a lot of cool restored items.

The service is pretty good and friendly and the food is great! My favorite is the granary burger which has bacon and an egg (only during lunch). It's the kind of place you can definitely just sit and hang out too (although I prefer to do so during non-crazy times)

I was pleasantly surprised by everything about the Granary Tavern. They were able to fit a party of 9 at the last minute on a Saturday night in a great wraparound corner bench table by the bar. The volume level was just right - not too loud, not awkwardly quiet. The decor is very neat, definitely old building with a modern flair.

The menu is brief, which was unexpected. We tried the garlic chips which I wouldn't get again... why drizzle fried potato chips with garlic OIL? Use some kind of powder or put the garlic in the dipping sauce. I have to say the dipping sauce was SO YUMMY though. The seafood chowder was packed with flavour and texture. The wedge salad was served so creatively and the grilled chicken accompanying it was absolutely fantastic.

6/9 of us ordered the chicken and waffles - all I have to say is WOW. I'm a New Englander through and through, but let me tell you... I am now in love with this Southern sensation. The waffle was perfect, the chicken was moist and perfectly breaded. My only "meh" about the chicken was the small bone. Others tried the margherita flatbread pizza and definitely enjoyed it, though they thought the spiciness was a tiny bit too high. The fish and chips was a-ok, the fish pretty standard (good) and fries were delectable!

Overall prices were reasonable for the area. Chicken and waffles was $16, fish & chips was about $14, the salad was around $10, flatbread around $10.

Ok so foodwise it's about 4 or so stars. What really tips it over the edge was the staff... our waitress (whose name I sadly can't recall) was absolutely impressive. With a group of nine it can get hectic and complicated but she juggled it effortlessly. She split the check among us without complaint (one couple asked for it, and rather than being lazy and just splitting them out of the rest, she checked to see who else would like a separate one) and executed it without difficulty. The manager cleared our plates and was courteous and friendly. Water glasses always full.

The overall experience was excellent. We will definitely be back!

In Boston for a week and I hit this place up three times. THREE! That means it has to be great, right?

Located right around the corner from our hotel in the Financial District, Granary Tavern was a breath of fresh air from the over-commercialized and otherwise underwhelming food options in the area. I thought it was fantastic. I didn't get to enjoy the outside patio, given the fact that I happened to be sweating bullets upon arrival each time I came here...but it looked enticing for a day that the heat index was NOT in the triple digits. The inside is cool, cozy, and homey. The service is great. What else can I say?

Oh yeah...FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. Delicious! The bouilliabaisse was my favorite dish of all...tender chunks of seafood in a hot, savory red broth. I was dying. Dying! I enjoyed the salmon flatbread twice (once with hubby and once with Dad) and it was also great. I might have preferred either a bit more cheese or a bit more of the creamy sauce, as it seemed a smidge on the dry side, but the smoked salmon, the herbs and spices, and the bread itself were quite good. I also had the Ahi sandwich for lunch one day...loved that AND the house-made potato chips that accompanied it.

Well done, Granary Tavern! You saved me from the Quincy Market mob, the mediocre and overly touristy restaurants by the harbor, and the abhorrent generic hotel buffets. I will make sure you re-rock my world the next time I'm in town. Did I hear chicken and waffles??

Chicken and Waffle. Chicken and Waffle.

Like Danielle, our server said, this is decadent. It melts in your mouth and provides and explosion of awesomeness in your mouth.  I highly suggest using the crispy skin and dipping it in the syrup. YUM! so heavenly.

This summer, I have been a huge fan of lime rickey. whats a lime rickey? I have no idea but its a great summer quencher. Pair this with gin, and you got yourself a refreshing beverage.

Location is awesome if you can force yourself not to enter Jose Mc's ( why would you want to?) You can watch traffic or ppl watch on the Greenway if you are outside.

Inside is cool too, a great atmosphere for after work and into the night.
