    I like corned beef!

This was not my first trip Izzy's and it won't be my last.  I love their corned beef and Swiss cheese.  I also had the house salad yesterday.  The salad was ok, but I suspect folk don't go for the salad. A good sandwich at a good price.

Great sandwiches and generous portions.  Service reminds me of a certain Seinfeld episode (you know the one).  Potato pancake very filling and heavy, but good.

One of the best reuben sandwiches I have had but I am still searching for a real reuben with thick sliced fresh roasted corned beef like you get in NYC. Haven't been able to find one yet.

Another place I frequent for lunch breaks from work!

Izzy's is a local chain restaurant so many of you have tried their wares but this location has some fun staff. They strike up weird conversations and chat among themselves about slightly off topics. Charming, unique, and a little naughty. The staff is what makes this location.

Plus, the sandwiches?! Cmon! Awesome, inventive, delicious.

I have been to this one and the one located in west chester.  I thought the west chester location was better for some reason.  Pastrami reuben, potato cake and sweet and sour cabbage soup. Oh Yeah!  The soup is rediculously good.

I used to stop here every Friday for dinner and would bring friends whenever I could. The friendly staff would save a serving of their great matzoh ball soup for me and I would get one of their gargantuan sandwiches, served of course with a potato pancake. That was enough for at least two meals. All of the sandwiches were very tasty, but the potato pancakes could be a little greasy. (I solved that by reheating them the next day for breakfast.) A definite Cincinnati treasure!

First time here and first time ever for me to eat a potato pancake (I didn't even know this existed) and a soup with bread & pasta in (sorry, don't remember the name).

Wow, both were very tasty, greasy, obviously, but actually they filled me up so I know have a Rueben sandwich left... I'm sure it was amazing but the soup and potato pancake were actually enough for a lunch meal...

So, girls, careful about the portions, because it's huge. Otherwise I was glad to have experienced something new and really liked it. Apparently the pickles are amazing, so my colleague says (she took mine for an afternoon snack so really likes them!).

Let me start by saying that I do not like corned beef.  I know, I know...you're asking yourself why I would eat here?  The answer is simple.  The potato pancakes and the pickles are AWESOME.  I also really, really like the Turkey Reuben.  There is just something about the turkey with the melted cheese on it with the 1000 Island dressing and the rye roll.  DELICIOUS!

Izzy's is a Cincinnati institution and one that it took me far too long to come to appreciate. The sandwiches are what you're coming here for. The specialty sandwiches are all worth a try, but their Reuben is probably what they're most well known for.

I usually go with the Suzie or a roast beef on pretzel roll and I'm never disappointed. If you haven't tried the Suzie before, I highly recommend it for a meaty sandwich with a fruity kick.

Potato pancakes come with every sandwich. They are nice and hot and a good greasy diversion. Great for curing what ales you. I'd prefer if they were more crisp, but I still down them every time.

If you haven't tried Izzy's yet, do so. It will quickly turn into one of your go-to places. I'm not an everyday customer, but it's great to have a quality option to choose from.

This truly is a neighborhood restaurant! When I was scouting out lofts downtown last summer I popped into Izzy's for a quick bite between viewings. I chatted with the guy behind the counter as my food was prepared...it was evident that he was passionate about downtown living, told me about some favorite spots and officially welcomed me to the neighborhood!

Oh yeah...the food! I've had several different types of sandwiches here...all fresh and tasty! The house mustard and the potato cakes are fabulous...worth it just for those! I've taken out of town friends there...and they were snapping pics to brag on Facebook about "that cool deli we went to"

So the food....very good! The service...outstanding!!

Sometimes, now always, but sometimes, I crazy myself a Reuben sandwich. And there's nowhere else to go but right here at Izzy's.

This is the other downtown Izzy's (I usually head to the one on Main) but this one is comfortable as well and does dinner, which the other does not.

The atmosphere in this place is fine but a little chain-y - it's all a little too happy and too cafeteria like. If they did it like Skyline does it, where they all basically look the same but you feel like you're in a Cincinnati institution, it'd be grand. But they tend to feel like you could be in this same store in any state in the country. Oh well.

The food is solid though. Delicious sandwiches with all the right toppings and potato pancakes with applesauce. I lived on the East Coast so my standards for Jewish Delis are high, and this doesn't match but does come close. It's a nice meal for when I'm craving a sandwich.

Izzy's is A-OK in my book. Three star solid meal.

O greasy potato pancakes, why do you have to be so good.  I hate that I love these.  Okay so its not Katz deli in NYC or even the equivalent of a Jewish Deli that you will find there but for Cincinnati if you are craving an overstuffed sandwich dripping with gooey dressing, oodles of meat and other toppings at a reasonable price.  Here you go. this place is for you.  Yes, they have a healthy menu, but I have never ventured to that side.  I have actually never had anything other than the Reuben because if I am going here, that is what I will get and have everytime (okay only 3 times but still next time I go....that is what I will order yet again).  I don't like frys all that much and most potato pancakes I could do without, but there is something about the greasy crispy goodness of theirs that I really like and I don't have to douse it in ketchup either.  Okay so my Doctor wouldn't like if I told them what I had for lunch, but occassionally I think that it is okay and well worth the splurge to have some of this goodness.

    Grease is the word.

You know that going in, though, as your eyes spy the punctuation to your meal. Potato pancake. Thick and crispy potato pancake with a side of kosher pickles. The perfect happy ending for a sandwich served up by the folks at Izzy's.

Izzy's is to Jewish Deli as Terry's Turf Club is to massive hamburgers: nobody in Cincinnati does it better. Not even close.

From the traditional Reuben (smothered with a pile of sauerkraut) to a healthier Turkey Lite sandwich, anyone can find something they'd love at this Downtown Cincinnati mainstay.

All specialty sandwiches are served with the award winning potato pancake - reason enough to swing by Izzy's for a break from the office.

I am partial to the Turkey Reuben. It's a bit lighter but still has some of the same overtones as a regular Reuben.

And it's sacrilege to wash down your meal with anything but a Dr. Brown's soda.

    Yummo.
