King Avenue Five

King Avenue Five is terribad. One of the more obnoxious places I've visited lately. I went with a group of coworkers, and I've decided I need to start exerting more influence on our destinations because of this visit. The atmosphere was entirely too loud, even for a sports bar. I can hear better at rock shows. The reason? They have the goddamn games on entirely too loud as well. So of course everyone is competing with this blaring announcer to be heard.

On top of that, the food sucked. Someone ordered the hummus and it was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. It looked like honey mustard and had the same texture and consistency. One of our crew joked "what do you expect ordering hummus at a sports bar?" He has a point, although I'm sure you can buy better so why don't they? I tried it just so I could verify it was as bad as it looked, and it was. It had this nasty, sour aftertaste. Ew. The tzatziki was the same story. At my friend's insistence, I did try a tiny boneless chicken wing with a pretty decent rub on it. So if you have to go here, I guess I'd recommend those.

Service was average and the saving grace was the restrooms. They were spotless, which is a big bonus for me, and featured some cool rock show posters - an indicator that someone involved with the place at least doesn't suck.

This is an interesting place. In front it's a little bar and pub styled place. They offer food and drink, pool tables, lots of places to sit. In back, it's a giant club style bar. Stage up front, bar slinging drinks in back, tons of room to dance. I've driven past this place what feels like 8 million times and it wasn't until I went to an event here that I even realized that back room existed. I've been a few times, but I can't say whether I like it or not yet. Here's to a few more!

This is a great place to meet with friends and watch college or pro basketball.  The prices were decent as well.  I got the Diablo Burger, cooked perfectly.  March Madness is just around the corner!
