Get the chicken and waffles. Whatever it is that you thought you should get, don't do it. It's chicken and waffles all the way. You'll just spend your meal regretting it if you don't. The place is roomy and nice, and the other food isn't bad, but in my opinion, the chicken and waffles are what make this place.

My GF and I went here because a Groupon and neither of us were disappointed. The food was awesome, especially the sweet and spicy wings. They were breaded and tossed in a habernero & honey sauce. They also had a great selection of craft beers and 2 large tvs inside

I am SOOOOOOO sad to take away 2.5 stars from LABC. Especially after how amazinggggg our last experience was. We came back on friday night around 10:45pm just to catch the end of the kitchen hours. We had our hearts & tummies ready for the OUT OF THIS WORLDDDDD burger wev had here before. Even tho they close @ 2am....the kitchen closes @ 11 so we rushed in to get our order in before they started clean up.

I have to say they brought us water right as we sat down so that was a major plus...but the longer we sat there without anyone coming & taking our drink or food order the more i realized the "bringing of the water without asking" was more to distract us from the un-attentiveness of our server. When he finally came around it was 5 till 11 and we were afraid the kitchen wouldnt take our order since so much time had passed. We were able to get our burger order in...medium please....and our server came back & RUSHED us through our beer flight order. We try new beers every time we order a flight so it takes a min. to look over the entire menu to choose 4 different kinds. i understand rushing us on food since the kitchen was closing but dude....ur bar is open till 2am why so rushy!! SO after he rushed us through our beer order he brought our burgers out 15 mins later (which seemed too long for a medium burger) and YEEEUP we were right..EXTREMLY WELL DONE!!! including the bun. I guess we can chaulk up the dryness & being well done because the kitchen was in a hurry to get our burgers out the kitchen so they could go home so I can blame a little bit of that on us for such late timing but still!!!

So we enjoyed out dry burger with a little side of dissapointment. But the worst was feeling like dude was trying to get outta there. The last thing a patron enjoying a nice brew wants is to feel unwelcomed & not important. I figured he was off at midnight because he would come to our table to drop off the check and we werent even done with our burgers or flights. we wanted to order another beer so he speed walked our check away to add the beers & then brought it back with another pint (WHICH btw..not to sound like a beer snob but he brought me my IPA in a friggin wine glass...thats the WORST possible way to serve a craft beer I thought a BREWING COMPANY would be on top of that) We hadnt even looked at the check and speedy gonzales was back to collect it like wow!! so 5 after midnight rolls around...we are sippin our beers enjoying the ambiance and i see our on crack waiter running around collecting all the candles off the tables & as im saying to my boyfriend "i know he isnt gonna come & take this while we are sitting..yuuppp there it goes" he straight took it off our table as we were still sitting there. That was pretty much the final straw we felt very unwelcomed so we pounded our beers & left.

I NEVER LEAVE A CRAP TIP (especially being an ex-server) but Damn!! Way to ruin the great experience we had from last time buddy hope whatever it was you were trying to leave so quickly for was worth the crappy tip you didnt deserve!

Against my yelp friends judgement, we decided to try this place.

Pros:
-15% yelp check-in deal
-$10 yelp deal for 20 dollars worth of stuff
-quality beer on tap (though out of about 20% of them)
-flights: $12 for 4 different beers (any your choice) all 5oz

Negatives:
-major traffic to get here
-terrible location. Bring 5 dollars cash to pay for parking or 7 on your credit card. Lotttsss of sketchy people. I was happy my guy was there
-I had to ask the bartender about flights and if I could taste a few beers. Normal breweries recommend this stuff. It should either be in the menu or the bartender should volunteer this option
-our bartender knew 0 about beer. Seriously, a basic beer knowledge (aside from what is in stock should be had)
-bartender kept pushing this weird patron beer combo of 1 beer and 1shot for 10. I didn't come to a brewery for a shot of tequila

Wouldn't recommend this. Not worth the effort.

Horrible service. Went during a UFC event and the waitress and waiter had to argue over serving us. Food was ok. Nothing extravagant. Beer menu had quite the selection.

A Groupon favorite, this overwhelmingly large space is located on the scenic Broadway street of the bubbling new downtown Los Angeles. A former bank, the space is so awesome that one realizes it will take a lot of groupons to fill this cavernous space.
The waiters are a bit sketchy...you arrive, they don't seem to notice. Once engaged, they stay focused for a few moments, but drift off again into whatever realm of the imagination that waiters drift to. The food is good. Not great. Good. While the menu has a litany of beers, as usual, choices matter. We chose a chocolately beer that required a good seven minutes to arrive-- and upon arrival it was not cold. Cold is the one good reason to drink beer. A second beer arrives in the smallest liquid container you can imagine. WTF? At least its cold. They are out of many beers. The refrigeration is not working for some beers--you get the picture.
The waiter has ESP and knows that I am going to write a YELP review. He comes back, smiled and attentive. Nice!
Just a note: arrive just after 7 and you can get a great parking space for free and shop the new downtown Ross, just to see how the other half shops.

Came in to watch a soccer game cuz a friend recommended it. I actually had a great time. I came in at around noon and the place was empty but i was totally ok with that cuz we received undivided attention. Beer selection was great and the bar tender was awesome. I forget her name but i think she was French?

I ordered some chips with braised bbq pulled pork, delicious!

I plan on going back often

I'd been looking forward to trying this place for a while. The growing LA brewing scene excites me, as does the push to revitalize downtown, Broadway in particular. So, the idea of this place is spot on!

But, as they say, the best laid schemes of mice and men often go awry.

LABC has a huge tap list, mostly good to great beers. Some I'd not seen on tap in the area, so I had high hopes. I'll overlook the fact that they pour PBR, taking up valuable tap space that could otherwise be filled with a decent beer.

"I'll have a _______."
"Sorry, we're all tapped out."
"Oh, no problem. I'll have a ______."
"Sorry, we're out of that too."
"How about a _______?"
"Well, I can pour you one, but it'll be warm."

I looked at my fourth option and before asking could see that the tap was closed off.

My waiter, who I really felt for, given that he was good, and had to deal with what seemed like a lot of other people's incompetence, was quite apologetic and explained that people earlier didn't do what they were supposed to do, and a lot of things didn't happen that were supposed to happen that day.

As for food, there were pretty limited vegetarian options. I had garlic fries which were ok. The only salad on the menu that didn't have meat (salads filled with meat still strike me as ironic) was the heirloom tomato salad. It was delicious!

I tried to get a veggie burger, however...they were out. They do offer a portobello mushroom sandwich, but if I never have another boring mushroom sandwich again in my life, it will be too soon (nothing against LABC's mushroom sandwich, but that seems to be the go-to option for any place that serves a vegetarian sandwich, and no one seems to know how to cook them). The nachos (which have pot roast in them) seemed like something I could ask for with no pot roast, but apparently the beer-cheese sauce has meat in it.

Until I had it, I was disappointed to hear that the only dessert option was flan. Once I was eating it, however, I was no longer disappointed. It was good.

So, there are some good things about this place, but it's pretty unlikely I'll be returning, given the things that weren't good. Hopefully that was just bad luck on my part and you have a better experience.

Had lunch with my honey Sunday. I had a burger and it was pretty tasty, the garlic fries that came with my meal were good as well. Large selection of beers, the bartenders can offer samples. The thing I found that sucked about the restaurant is that you have to pay for parking they don't offer parking unless we missed it. I guess that's what you have to deal with when you eat in DTLA.

Only tried the beer but wow they had a huge selection. I initially read through the beer menu but ultimately decided to try the $12 beer flight special, which is 4 different mini beers that equal up to a pint. A few others in the group did the same. I chose blonde, others chose IPA, house, and all were pleased. They were showing UFC and had a packed house and it didn't seem overcrowded. All in all, had a good time and I'd definitely go back.

I use yelp but never had an account. I made an account just to write this review so nobody has to relive my horrible experience.

Thier food and beer was average at best and overpriced. This i can tollerate since many bar and grills are comparable and as long as I have a good time, its what it is. What I cant tollerate is the horrible service.

We had to stand and wait even though there were several empty tables. 20 min of waiting next to an empty table we were seated at that table. I had to flag down a waiter to get drinks. We quickly put in our order as well fearing he might not return in a while. The food was average at best. However we ran into issues when trying to use our living social voucher.

The manager was a little stuck up kid who kept responding with this smirk as he said they are a business that reserves the right not to honor their agreements. It was 10 pm on a saturday when he asked us to call living social to settle it. I asked him to read the fine print which says that it cannot be used on st patricks day and christmas. We were there on july 6. After 10 minutes of arguing he allowed is to use the voucher. However they took over 15 min to come back with the bill. Several other parties around us was given the same treatment.

It was a typical sports bar but with horrible service. There are plenty of other options.

100 Beers on tap is great but the service was AWFUL. Right from the entrance down to the bitter end poor service. Should have realized that if the Hostess wasn't exactly great then the food service might not be either. So disappointed in the food too. My brewery burger was smaller than all the yelp pix. The only way I'm going back is to sit at the bar.

Awful. There were 2 servers...who also served as busers and bartenders. First very very very BAD thing was the lack of food that was on the menu--I asked for the vegetarian sandwich. They were out. I asked for sweet potato fries, they were out. Their minestrone soup was made with chicken stock so that left me with the veggie burger. Okay, I can deal with that but I cannot deal with extremely poor service. I didn't get my drink refilled and it took about 30 minutes for a veggie burger and pulled pork sandwich to come out. They automatically included an 18% gratuity which ticked me off considering the poor service.

I hate to give bad reviews but we had an awful experience at this place.

We came in during the play offs. Great set up for multiple games.

The service...not so great

First the waiter scoffed ay my friend when she ordered wine even though it was on the menu.

The our food took forever...and ever...
Which I guess is better than our second round of drinks
Our waiter never came back to ask we wanted any more beer....or water

Then the food and appetizers of course came out all at the same time

I ordered the honey habanero wing
The looked great all sweet and crispy!
Until I bit into it and it started bleeding. Gross.

I don't even remember my entree since at this point I just wanted to go.
Undercooked chicken being a deal breaker for me
They did give us a comped order of calamari which was nice but which no one wanted.

Sigh

Maybe this place was having a off night?

Boo! I wanted to like this place but I just didn't. It's a huge place that just does not have it together. From music choices (their DJ on Wednesday night must have been at least 70 years old) to the decor (it looks like a hodge podge of stuff from the from the former tenant mixed with new stuff) to the bartenders being unorganized and just all over the place. All the way around I was just not feeling this place, neither did my friends and that's too bad because we live only10 minutes away.
Sorry, I won't be returning, it wasn't worth the $5 parking around the corner.

Firs time walking into this place I thought it was pretty chill, spacious, lots of tables, tv's, etc. As soon as we got seated, we were expecting a server to come and get our drinks/food. It took them 30 minutes to acknowledge us! So when we finally ordered food and drinks! we sat there, giving them the benefit of a doubt, just maybe the food would make up for the bad service. And of course another disappointment. The wings didn't have sauce and the batter was taste really bad, the fish n chip was so greasy it was swimming in grease on our plate!. So not worth the deal they offer. The 1 star is for the beer, they have great selections.

Firstly upon entering my boyfriend and I spotted a GIANT couch - so that was fun for taking a silly photo.

We went on a Saturday a few weekends ago due to finding out there was a $10 bottomless mimosa. For that the trip was definitely worth it (that's usually the price of one mimosa around these parts).

We then ordered two dishes to split - Huevos Rancheros and Chicken and Waffles. The Huevos Rancheros were okay but not anything I'll order again, they were accompanied by potatoes O'brien which seems somewhat soggy and undercooked, I like my skillet potatoes to be a little browned on the sides.

The Chicken and waffles were surprisingly good. The boneless fried Chicken comes on the waffles like a sandwich and it accompanied by cheese and bacon (so definitely definitely not a healthy option by any stretch of the imagination and definitely not something one person could probably eat alone).

Other pluses I saw; huge tap beer selection, large space, good for larger groups I imagine.

The service was okay but I had a weird vibe the whole time, but that's probably just because it was still pretty early on a Sunday.

I'd been wanting to come here for a while so I was pretty excited to finally get myself and some friends over to the still-ghetto-but-up-and-coming part of downtown aka Broadway.

100 beers on tap and a plethora of projectors for sports entertainment? So far so good. We were all hungry so we're looking to grub. Tried to order garlic fries BUT THEY RAN OUT OF GARLIC. Um..what? I'm so confused by how that even happens but ok...we got sweet potato fries instead which were fine but you'd have to be really bad to mess those up. The lemon aioli that came with those was pretty good.

Friend tried to order spaghetti & meatballs...server comes back and says they're actually out of meatballs and haven't had them for a while. Again...what? My friend also ordered the soup of the day which is tomato bisque. Sounds promising, but of course we're told later that the chef just poured the last bowl and they're out for the day. She ended up ordering the pulled pork sandwich and guess what? They're out of pork! Hahaha just kidding they actually had that.

My other friend ordered a $14 burger and said it was bad. For $14 you better be getting a Father's Office caliber burger. Shoot...that's even more expensive than a FO burger. So depressing. I settled on some avocado chicken rolls which were OK. Hard to mess those up. I'm surprised they had avocados.

I had such high hopes for this place and I really, really hope they step their food game up because they can do so much better. I'd maybe come back to watch a game and grab a brew but other than fries (if they have garlic next time), I wouldn't order food from here anytime soon.

I WANT to like this place, but my experience just wasn't great.

Walking into the place, we just wanted to the game, grab some beers, and eat some food. Immediately we were surrounded by 7 or so projection screens and a very large beer selection.

And then it went downhill from there.

We wanted to split an order of garlic fries; however, they ran out of garlic. The restaurant wasn't even at half capacity on a Sunday early evening... and no garlic for the garlic fries!? So we "settled" for an order of sweet potato fries ("settled" because I love sweet potato fries anyway). Those came with a side of maple syrup, which was an interesting choice considering that in all the times I've been out, that's never been offered.

My friend wanted to order the spaghetti and meatballs, but we were informed they had no meatballs. In fact, they hadn't had meatballs in days. Either their vendor for meatballs was closed or something or they couldn't throw some ground meat together with egg and flavoring...or they just had no garlic to make these meatballs. I really don't know.

After eating burgers during Oinkster's burger week, I wanted to try another burger. This was pretty bad. Waitress asked me how I wanted it, and I replied with "medium." What I got was a plain, overcooked burger. $14 is a ridiculous price for this. Run of your mill dry, overcooked burger with letttuce, tomato, a long piece pickle (not in slices), and those small onion rings.

In short, come here for the beer, the possible televised sporting events but not for the food or service. 2 stars for what this place could be with the ambiance but not more for what it's missing in food for being a gastropub.

Returned for the second time to LA Brewing Co. last night and left extremely satisfied and full of beer.

:D I enjoyed myself more this time I think since I decided to branch out and try their beer sampler, which alone is enough to fill a person! The only sad part is that I live pretty far away to visit this grand establishment as often as I would like, but hey the trip is always worth it ; P

Keep it up LA Brewing Company, you have me hooked!

I found a livingsocial deal online and decided to purchase it because I received one of those $10 coupon things for being active on that site. Anyways, I decided to come to this restaurant because it was relatively close to where I live, but my experience with this place was definitely below satisfactory.
Pros:
-The portions of fries they add as your side is very generous.
-Turkey burger is pretty good, considering it's turkey meat and not beef.
-Inside is very spacious and looks a lot bigger from what you would've expected when you saw the exterior of the place.
Cons:
-Extremely poor service. Took us forever to get hold of our server. It took over half an hour to receive our food after we ordered it.
-Poor hygiene. There was a hair in our food.
-Overpriced. A burger is priced at around $15. And it's not even that special. No special sauce, no special ingredients, it's just plain lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, fried onions. I felt like I could get something similar at a different restaurant for a lot cheaper. Also, I ordered the heirloom tomatoes with balsamic and it was priced at $4 but there wasn't anything special about that either. It's just a plate with one tomato that's sliced up, with balsamic on the side.
-Location isn't very nice. It took me a while to find this place once I got to the cross streets. It's not exactly in the liveliest or safest part of LA..

Overall, my experience with this place wasn't that great. I wasn't too upset about it because I had my livingsocial voucher and got my meal for 1/4 of the actual price, but if I had paid for the entire thing it definitely wouldn't have been worth it.

I really wanted to like this place. It's got a fairly extensive beer selection and is in the revitalized downtown area.
But....
the American beers are ok. The import selection was disappointing.
Service from the kitchen was slow.
The kicker...it's over priced. Small small Cuban sandwich. Fries were good. I realize this a "bar" but it serves food. And the food needs work.
Ambience is great! I recommend drinking here but in all honesty eat somewhere else.

Came for a fundraising/beer tasting event. Rather than being offered beer I was quickly give some liquor-okay. I ended up downstairs scanning trough their menu, everything read as common food with a splash of pep to the names. I went with the turkey burger. It wasn't the greatest but it was good. The one thing that did keep me from truly enjoying my meal was the overly seasoned fries. The shoestring fries had an over powering taste of horseradish and garlic. As they say - sometimes less is more. If it weren't for that and the diva waiter that we had who keeps huffing and rolling his eyes at us, I would have said it was a pretty cool spot. Either way I'd still come back to check out the beer, the entire time I was there I wasn't able to find out what they have.
Conclusion: would I return? Sure, I'd give it a second chance. Would I refer you to this brewery over another, most likely no.

My boyfriend and I decided to try out L.A. Brewing Company for Dinner because we got a Groupon deal. Our first experience getting drinks with friends there wasn't so bad and so we thought "Eh, Why not give it a shot."

Thus began a two trip odyssey that ultimately ended in gross disapointment.

Trip 1: We decide to take advantage of the groupon for my boyfriend's birthday. We arrived around 5pm on a Monday and with the exception of 1 other table we were the only ones in the massive restaurant. We were given menus and sat in a far corner and told someone would be by to take our order. We waited for several minutes and tried to flag down numerous staff member to see if we could get service. After 15 minutes we walked out - No one taking our order or making sure we were being taken care of. This kind of action is forgivable on a busy night but we were basically their ONLY WAITING PATRONS.

We decided to shelve the groupon for several months and as it was about to expire we decided to make another attempt. We went in prepared for slow service but wanted to make sure we got our Groupon fulfilled.

We arrived around 6pm on a Saturday and it was fairly bustling.

The following is a time stamped play by play of how our visit went:

TRIP 2
6pm - Arrive. Immediatly seated (hey a positive!) but seated in front of a blaring speaker. asked to be moved to a quieter area of the restaraunt. Hostess says she'll check and leaves.

6:10pm - We finally just move ourselves to another table.

6:20pm - Server comes by to get our drink order. Out of most of the item we order. We finally decide to get a beer flight since its advertised on a card on the table and order our meals.

6:35pm - Still no beer. attendant finally comes by and says they cant find the beer flight glasses and are still looking for them.

6:45 - FINALLY get beers and water

7:00 - Food finally comes and is dropped off by someone from the kitchen. We ordered a Cuban Sandwich and a Burger. Both are served with a healthy portion of fries. The $14 burger however is TINY. it literally only covered a quarter size of the bun. Cuban Sandwich consists of exactly 1 meager slice of roast beef and 1 slice of pathetic turkey. We try to flag down the server to make note and ask if they can make it again realizing we havent seen him in almost 20 minutes. 10 more minutes go by and he is nowhere in site.

7:15 - Were angry, spent, just want to leave, so we choke down our food and try to pay with our groupon the second the server appears with the check. He says he'll be right back

7:30 still trying to find our server. I finally flag down another server and say "We just want to settle our bill and leave." I give her my phone and she finds our sever and gives it to him

7:40 - Finally comes back with the completed groupon. we immediately leave.

I wish i could blame our experience on a bad server but it was so much more than that. I really feel the problem with our service was poor management.

ON BOTH OCCASIONS our service was awful. this hardly seems like a fluke. It wasnt all that busy but the staff seemed distracted and frazzled and the ones who weren't frazzled or distracted were just STANDING there not helping anyone. The kitchen seemed bustling and busy but it took way too long to get food out to customers. half of the items we tried to order were out of stock.

This place is a prime candidate for Kitchen Nightmares. It has all the makings of a great restaraunt but without some major overhauling I can see this place shutting down within a year or two.

High overhead - low return.

If you have a Groupon do yourself a favor and just sit at the bar and get drinks. Great selection of local beers on tap - If its been recently stocked.

Like most places in Downtown Los Angeles, the view from the street makes it difficult to tell whether or not you actually WANT to walk inside a business. Sometimes the facade is not the most appealing or the building might seem too small or a lot of times, the place just looks like it's out of touch with cleanliness, but there's no need to worry about any of issues at LABC because it's a decent place to hang your hat in.

Once you're inside, you'll find a huge dining area (although the tables might as well be connected, they're that close to each other) and a fully stocked bar with three giant screens showing whatever big game might be going on at that moment. Apparently, people don't watch the news at bars. WEIRD!

Of course, LABC makes its name off their beer selection, which isn't anything to roll your eyes at...except for the constant pushing of Golden Road Brewery beer. Trying new beers is always a plus (and actually, most bartenders at LABC will give you a complimentary taste of any beer if you ask them), but when every beer that is being offered to you starts with "Golden Road" then things start getting more stale than a warm IPA.

There is a multitude of beer taps there! Stop trying to sell me on the Golden Road merchandise! Besides, it's not that great.

Golden Road hustling aside, the service was quick and the food was delivered as ordered, which never hurts things. One major positive about the burgers here is that they're full sized burgers and NOT the slider trend that has taken over a lot of bars. Some menus now offer "burgers" but what you get is a single slider at full burger cost...but LABC serves up an actual burger with a couple of choices for sides. And, for those who actually want sliders, they're offered on the menu as well.

LABC ends up being a good place to stop by for a couple of drinks and a really good place to watch a game at with a group of friends. Parking lots are scattered all over the area, so it's an easy place to access and if for some reason you can't find it...ask your phone.

I came here with my friends hoping to have a great time. It was quite the opposite. The tables here were way too small for four people and they seem to have so many of them. I think they just revamped the menu because a lot of the items I saw on yelp were not available. We ended up sitting at the bar the beer was alright we ended up trying the chicken and waffle sandwich which was very bland I took apart the second half and ate the chicken and waffle separately and ordered BBQ sauce for the chicken which was awesome. They don't take AMEX which sucked.

DTLA has so many awesome bars that were originally other business buildings that converted this place didn't have that feeling like engine 28 , The eddison or umamicatessen etc... It seams like they either tried too hard or didn't try hard at all because it literally looks like a bi old building that they made a restaurant but not in a hip way.

We came here for lunch last Saturday because this place offered a Yelp deal and the guys wanted beer. The beer was good, but I wouldn't come here for food to go with it. I'd much rather have a street dog outside instead.

We had the garlic fries, which weren't good. They didn't mix the cheese and garlic and sparse bits of parsley together, so we found them at the bottom.

The calamari was a big plate, but was crunchy, small and forgettable. The sauce it came with tasted a little bitter and it worked better with the lemon aioli or ketchup from the fries.

The nachoes were unimpressive as well and the ingredients weren't fresh. I've had better nachoes at BJ's and that's saying something.

It's a shame since the chefs look like they are hustling back there and the waitress was super nice. They also have bottomless mimosas for $10 until 3pm on Saturday, but that clearly wasn't enough to attract more customers in.

Even with the deal, I wouldn't come back.

Pros: Huge beer selection, lunch portions were huge and food was tasty, staff was attentive.

Cons: Location, location, location. If you don't mind downtown traffic and parking a block away, it's ideal for lunch since it's not crowded (this place is huge).

This is specifically for the brunch. First when we got there my reservations could not be found even though I had called the night before and I was told everything was going to be fine. The place was empty so it wasn't a big deal though. The service was ok, the waiter was friendly and somewhat knowledgeable. The big let down was the food. The brunch menu was not very brunchy, yes I made that one up, it was pretty much the exact same thing as their regular menu. We had the chicken and waffles, the steak and eggs, and the burger.

The burger was decent, it didn't blow you away and had nothing that made it stand out. I'm a burger aficionado so I like to think I know a good burger and this was just blah. Nothing compared to the Wa Bar burgers which all have a distinct flavor or the father's office or city tavern burgers which is also very good. Like I said, just blah.

The steak and eggs was also blah. It came with potatoes that were bland. If it wasn't for the ketchup there would have been no flavor on the plate. The eggs were ok, but looked small.

The chicken and waffles were the big disappointment. The waffles were flavorless and dry. The chicken was bland and everything else was a mess. My sister commented that it reminded her of the KFC heartattack. The presentation was also lacking, the waffles and chicken looked pale and messy.

I don't know about regular days but I won't go back for brunch.

I love Downtown, but every once in a while I get a yearning for big portions of fried foods set among big screens, lot's of beer and an atmosphere that doesn't take itself too seriously. You know - the kind of place you find in the suburbs.

I think that's what Los Angeles Brewing Company brings to Downtown. I mean, let's be honest, most of the places I know are either divey or high-end. There's not a lot of room in the middle (unless you count LA Live and come-on - that's just an invention by corporate interests).

At the same time, LA Brewing Company manages to maintain the essential "Downtowness" that makes downtown downtown. When you walk in, there is no doubt you are in an old refurbished building complete with exposed masonry, marble, old staircases, exposed beams, etc. Plus, they have these fun oversized coach chairs in the waiting area. You know - so you can be sure they are still "hip".

Food wise, like I said. It's nothing spectacular. Probably the most interesting thing we had was the waffle chicken sandwich, which as you can imagine is not for those on a diet. The nachos were ok. Nothing to write home about. Still...

...I liked it. Overall, great place to watch the game, grab a beer and eat a non-assuming meal.

I would not go back.

One screen was not bright enough to watch the game. The nachos were poor. The french fries were decent. Overal not a great place. And valet parking had no wait but it still took about 10 minutes to get my car. This place just does not work.

Been here several times already.

Good for Happy Hour with a long list of beers and a lot of space to hang around.

For dinner, service/meal service was lagging. We finished our appetizer (jalepeno poppers that I really didn't care for) well before our dinner arrived. My portobello sandwich arrived first and my boyfriend and I decided to share it half & half. We finished our halves minutes before his veggie burger even came out. Sandwiches were good, but the sweet potato fries weren't.

Took forever for our server to settle our bill a well.

First off, the place's name is not accurate; They DO NOT brew beer here and their "house" beers are the generics made by Firestone Walker and served all over town as house beers (I'm looking at you, Westwood Brewing Company and you, Weiland Brewing). So, NOT A BREWING COMPANY.

NOW, on to specifics...

I walked in with my date last night after a show at The Orpheum. We sat at a table next to the bar and had to shout to hear each other over the DJ spinning tunes and general din of the people sitting at the bar.

We left after ten minutes because no waiter ever made eye contact or came over to greet us. We saw several waiters pass by us while we sat there.

On a Saturday night at 10:30pm with a restaurant that was only about 1/4 full, I'm amazed that they let money just get up and walk out like we did.

This was my third visit.

On my first trip there last summer, they were out of the first three beers I tried to order. When the bill came, I was charged for a higher-priced beer that wasn't even on.

The second time, I was brought the wrong drink and the waitress forgot to put our order in. We waited about 15 minutes until she realized the error. No discount or adjustment was offered, probably because we were using a Living Social voucher.

So... third strike, guys. I won't be back. A shame, since there is a great craft beer selection (if they had what's on the menu) and the food is adequate for what it is. Good location, nice interior (though I HATE, HATE, HATE the 100% sports bar vibe); the main thing sinking this place is the way it is run. If they don't fix things, I doubt they will make it to their third anniversary.

(Dined 03/11/13 M @ 6pm): A "brewing company" deep in the heart of DTLA...whatever works, right?

Los Angeles Brewing Company has been on my list to try since they opened the summer of 2012 and claimed to have over 100 beers on tap. I had to see this for myself. I fought through the rush hour traffic from work but thankfully a few friends managed to get there early and grabbed a corner cushy booth and table. I know I was ready for a drink! Their happy hours are Monday - Friday from 4pm-7pm.

Only two gentlemen perched at the longest bar I've ever seen (even in a dance studio!) and a group of four seated at a table were here. I immediately told our server, "I'll have what they're having," a local light hoppy IPA that had a crisp and refreshing finish on tap, so I had another ($3.00 HH on select beers) http://www.yelp.com/user…. Throughout the evening we also imbibed on well drinks ($5.00 HH), and a few non-HH items like an Allagash White ($6.00) and a Weihenstephan ($7.00) beers. I've had each before...more subtle tastes and went down like butter!

With the obscene amounts of alcohol being guzzled, we worked the HH appetizer menu ($2.00 off) like a jockey neck-and-neck as he headed for the finish line! Here's a scorecard of the gluttony:

Stuffed shrooms ($6.00 HH) - These round pieces of fungus were "magically" delicious crammed with chorizo, pork belly and potato. Damn they were so good we could've just kept ordering these!

BBQ pulled pork fries ($6.00 HH) - I'd order anything with pulled pork but this was a complete disappointment and I ended-up eating most of it. The fries were cold and the pork wasn't as "pulled" as I liked and warm at best; fail. http://www.yelp.com/user…

LABC hot wings ($6.00 HH) - Six pieces with your customary celery sticks and ranch to cool the heat. I scoffed at the supposed "hot". There were more hot gases coming out of my arse. I wanted a shot of Tapatio after each wing. http://www.yelp.com/user…

Calamari ($6.00 HH) - I found this to be a bargain for the amount of squid you got. I don't know how the squid population would last if this remained on the menu. These perfectly breaded hardly chewy ink-squirters left me swimming for joy! http://www.yelp.com/user…

Honey habanero hot wings ($6.00 HH) - Six pieces, too, but emphasized more "honey" and not on the "hot" There might've been a sneeze of habanero at best. If I see habanero I wanted my stomach to punch out like the movie "Alien". http://www.yelp.com/user…

Brewery sliders ($9.00 HH) - A bit pricey but these three miniatures came on Hawaiian sweet rolls with aged cheddar and Grade-A meat, all pluses in my book. If given a choice, Wimpy would've chosen these instead of any regular hamburger. http://www.yelp.com/user…

LABC nachos ($13.00) - We obviously had too much to drink because we ordered this regular-priced item, yet we threw it down and all of its comfort pot roast meat, homemade tortilla chips, a tree's worth of guacamole, HOT jalapenos, and fresh pico de gallo. This was a hearty meal itself. http://www.yelp.com/user…

The service was good as our server, Sergio, was up to the task to handle our large group of people who seemingly just kept showing up. He made sure to keep us on the straight-and-narrow on the happy hour menu (we knowingly strayed a few times but he made sure to double-check first). Our drinks came out quickly like he had a pony keg strapped to him and the food just as quickly. Kind, courteous, and patient was Sergio. Great job!

Parking was okay as you had to find either a nearby garage or parking lot since they didn't have their own parking as was the case for most businesses in DTLA. I parked up on the next street (Hill St.) on a lot ($4.00 cash).

Overall, I enjoyed Los Angeles Brewing Company and must work my way through their beer list. I found good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (total bill was around $165.00; tip included), although I felt appetizers during HH shouldn't be more than $5.00. The atmosphere, décor, and ambience was a huge wide open space with cushy booth seats all along the brink walls, a multitude of tables spread out across the floor, a gigantic bar that snaked down one side of the place, high ceiling, somewhat dimly lit, and TVs everywhere for sports, news or movies ("The Breakfast Club" and "16 Candles" on ours). The attire was totally casual so I was in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. And they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX!

Wanted to love this place with it's cool factory look and ample selection of TVs - literally covering every wall!

But bad food and even worse service. Not impressed, at all.

So I'm in downtow LA and dying to get some grub and a drink, so I turn to yelp, like always. Tada... LA Brewing company. Their had a brunch menu, so off we went.

The space is huge, nicely decorated and the cool big, king's thrown looking think in the entrance was quite cool.

We sat down at the bar and our very nice bartender came over immediately with a menu to greet us. Of course I start with the bottomless mimosa which was only $10 and they bring it to you in a wine glas instead of a champagne flute like other places, which was fine, it just meant I get more each pour :)

I ordered the Huevos Rancheros which was delicious. It was really tasty and a must try on their brunch menu for sure and the BF got the Monte Cristo which was big and filling. We enjoyed our meals very much and I have to say that this place definitely hit the spot for me.

They have 100 beers on tap without repeats and the best part is... wait for it... they have Eagle Rock Brewery beers on tap. That ROCKED! Not very many places carry it and Eagle Rock Brewery itself is quite a haul for me, so I'm glad they are starting to distribute to other bars!

This place is definitely a place I can't wait to go back to. We went for brunch so it was quite empty on a Saturday afternoon, but I heard it gets super packed on weekend evening. I do want to check them out for dinner though. Can't wait to come back. My new Fav spot in DTLA
