Prior to my last experience at Mammoth I would have recommended going there vs Starbucks, etc. However, since I just left hungry with not so much as an apology I will probably not be back. Ordered food and coffees, left a larger than 20% tip and then sat around for over a half hour while my boyfriend finished his breakfast. After determining that my meal was never coming I asked for my money back. No apologies, just rude insinuations that I hadn't really ordered the item. Yeah, I don't even care enough to ask for my $4 tip on a small coffee back but I'm trying to scam you out of $6 Mammoth? Get real.

Had heard the oatmeal was good so I tried it.  Wow!  Really good!  And the coffee, too.  Very comfortable atmosphere.  Not the fastest service, but it is not the kind of place where you want or expect speed.  Just really good.

Very nice but slow service. Great atmosphere and convenient location.

The atmosphere is my favorite part, that and they open at 7.   There is some outdoor seating which I love. Coffee is adequate.  I didn't eat but there are multiple food options.  I agree with others "It's everything you want in a coffee shop"

Located just blocks from my office, I didn't know about this little treasure until I was scouring Yelp the other day.  I met up with an old friend (and fellow Yelper) and we lunched.

The food was good - not great.  I had the chicken salad croissant, and while I loved the chicken salad, the portion was very small for the larger price.  $8 for a sandwich is a bit much, especially if there is more bread than filling.  This is the only reason for a 4/5 star rating.

Everything else was great - we went at noon, and it wasn't too crowded, so we had some comfy seats, great view of the streets.  The atmosphere was cozy.  The aroma of specialty coffee filled the place and made it very hard to leave.  The friendly demeanor of the employees was excellent.  And - it was CLEAN!  There can be a certain scuzz feeling in Newport (don't judge me - you know it's true), but I didn't get that here.

Great place - I'll go back for a drink (hot chocolate anyone?), but likely not for lunch.  Too expensive for me.

My experience at Mommoth Case was alright.

I enjoyed an acceptable latte and my wife had some type of frappaccino. While both drinks were good, neither were exceptional.

The service was what was lacking. I don't expect employees to jump for joy at my order, but some enthusiasm would be nice. The, guessing, teenage boy who took our order was radiating bad vibes. It was clear he didn't want to be there. I was willing accept that he was just bummed to be working on free comic book day, but the experience suffered for it. He asked if my wife would like whipped cream on her drink, which she decline, then when he was making it he added whipped cream. It was nice of him to ask, but it would have been nicer if he had listened.

As far as the atmosphere goes, I like it. The room is huge, with ample seating for solo folks to groups. The walls are decorated with great prints from Power House Factories which I believe are for sale.

I didn't have a chance to eat anything, but saw several tasty looking sandwiches and sweets enter the dining room.

I will give Mammoth Cafe another try, but only if it is convenient. There is better coffee to be had in Cincinnati, but this is a reasonable choice.

Alright, decent, fine, ok. Any adjective that describes middle-of-the-road can be used for my opinion of this spot. Not great but not bad either. Drinks and coffee are nice enough, if somewhat pricey, but the atmosphere leaves something to be desired. Besides the big windows it seems dark inside. But the outside tables would be a cool spot for nice-weather people watching on Monmouth St, and they're also shaded.

I don't know if they still do this but a couple years ago I tried to join the Pain By Numbers running group and they gathered at this location before and after their runs. I couldn't keep up with the runners and never joined them again, but I did think it was cool of Mammoth Cafe to let the group use their place as a meeting spot and allow the runners to help themselves to the ice water cooler.

Mammoth Cafe is a nice, clean coffeehouse.

    Here are some pros:
    1. Great coffee, with a varied and interesting espresso menu. They usually have a couple special feature drinks that are not what you will find at other coffeehouses. The drinks are made well, the espresso does not taste burnt.
    2. Plenty of seating, with a good variety of large and small tables
    3. Delicious bakery items
    4. Clean bathrooms
    5. Free wi-fi!

    Here are some cons:
    1. No dedicated parking lot, so during the week parking is difficult. If you're there when the nearby Bank of Kentucky is closed, you can use their lot for parking.
    2. While the food is really good... sometimes it can be hit or miss on preparation, I guess depending on who is working. Last time we were there, two of the people in my group ordered paninos and what they got instead were sandwiches with toasted bread. The cheese wasn't even melted. Lame. But there are plenty of other options on the menu apart from a panini.
    3. Sometimes it's cold in the winter time. Probably because the entire front is basically windows.

So, there you have it. This is a nice coffeehouse with good food, great coffee and a cool atmosphere.

My review centers between 3 and 2.5 stars--the coffee is fine.  It's fine.  Nothing amazing or to write home about, but the lesser star review is for the value.  Having just eaten lunch at Dixie Chili (it's raining, it's cold, my belly needs chili), I figured the next thing I needed was something sweet--always on my quest for local businesses, do I go to Sweet Tooth?  Nope--this dreary day is for warm and sweet,  and it was then that I remembered Mammoth Coffee, a place I've never personally frequented (though I did pick up a carryout order as a favor for a co-worker) was on my way back to the office.  Score!  Well, one for them, anyway when, after putting .10 in the meter, 1.00 for tip, my small special coffee cost me $5.65.  That was a $1.65 more than my lunch at Dixie Chili!

The ambience was nice, though I didn't feel "super" welcome or anything.  Also, I was the only female in the joint (?).  At any rate, I don't think I'll be going back--when your coffee costs more than your lunch, it negates all reason.

Mammoth Cafe is a Newport coffee shop that feels straight out of the line A-OK. Nothing blew me away about it and I only came down here for a meeting. If I lived closer, it'd be a nice spot to walk to, but there are other coffee shops closer to me that I enjoy more.

It's big, that's for sure. A giant one-room coffee shop with seats all around. There's really nice light coming in from the giant windows, but it kind of looses me after that. Plastic benches line the beige walls. If there were decorations or artwork at all, I can't remember it. It just seemed ... eh.

There are a bunch of different options for food and drinks. I got a turkey sandwich on a croissant, which was good, but nothing special, and maybe a little too expensive for a sandwich and side of chips. The staff was very friendly though and they brought out my goof quickly.

Free wi-fi for the win as well.

Parking is a hassle. There are a few spots for the cafe in a lot next door but most of them are taken up for the bank. I'm not sure if I parked illegally or not, but I probably did by accident. There is some street parking, but that's no good if you want to spend a while at this cafe.

There is some seating outside as well and maybe if it was warmer I would have had a better experience enjoying the sights and sounds of Newport.

The cafe was nice. Nothing amazing but nothing horrible either. If I had to meet someone for a meeting here again, I'd be happy to go, but otherwise, I probably won't make the trip.

This is a great place to meet small groups.  They have breakfast goodies, sandwiches, salads, and soups.  Breakfast is served all day.  Nice!  The staff was very pleasant and helpful.  There were however a few table that required busing.  If the food were stepped up a notch, this could be a very popular go-to place.

Best Feature: Mouthwatering food + great coffee!
    Worst Feature: Parking?

I just stopped in here recently to meet an old friend. I'd never been here before but had passed by a few times while in Newport. We decided to try it thanks to some favorable Yelp reviews - and I'm so glad I did!!

Both the interior and exterior are charming - which is a big plus as far as first impressions go. They have a few seats/tables outside as well as a lovely furnished inside. You can sit by the window, at a table in the middle, or a few plush sofas and chairs are about the place for your enjoyment.

The staff was incredibly nice! We went up to order and I had a grape and walnut chicken salad sandwich on whole wheat as well as a mocha frappe. Prices were a bit higher, but not insane for what you'd expect - food was $7.95 and coffee was around $4 (can't quite remember the exact price). The meal came with a choice of a side - I chose fruit, but there was also yogurt, greens, and a few others.

We sat by the window and chatted it up, which helped the time pass - not that we had to wait too long for our order. About 5-10 minutes after ordering, we got our meals (and I'd received my drink about 5 minutes before that).

The sandwich was AMAZING. Absolutely the most delicious chicken salad sandwich I've ever had. The coffee was great as well! Very light and flavorful and JUST as good as chain coffee (e.g. Starbucks) if not better, to be honest.

They were really nice and we left about closing time for Sunday (3p) - they cheerfully wished us a good day and thanked us for coming in. I left without one single complaint!

The only issue I had with the entire experience is parking. I parked on the street, which depending on the day and time you might have to deal with coin-operated meters. I ended up re-parking in a lot nearby Bob Roncker's - we hung around the area for about 4 hours and I paid a bill of about $6, so not bad. There was free off-street parking available, which I was not Newport street-parking savvy enough to take advantage of. Just pay attention to the day / time and you might avoid all parking fees! :D

I'll definitely return again - hands down, no question. Thanks for a great experience, Mammoth Cafe!

I have been here several times, before and after moving to Newport. I have had good and bad experiences, to be honest. My biggest complaint: their hours are terrible. (During the week, who is able to go to a coffee shop that closes at 3pm?) Also, there have been times (not recently) where the service was rude, or (recently) when a sandwich took forever to come out. But these days, everyone seems to be extremely nice, and when they were busy, free biscotti was given as an apology for our wait. The food and drinks are always delicious, so I'm thinking the current staff have things under control now, and I'll be sure to be a regular here.

Very nice place for meeting people (I see a spectrum of folks in both suits and jeans on weekdays). Good wifi, comfortable variety of seating/table options (including a few outside tables). Doesn't have the best coffee-- my usual double shot was served in a paper cup and didn't have any crema, plus I believe they still charge extra for non-dairy milk while it seems like many coffee shops are leaving that practice behind. That said, drip coffee is fine and their wraps are good, and again, it's a great place to meet someone.

Mammoth Cafe has all the staples of a cozy coffee shop: wifi, drinks, food. It is nicely decorated with interesting photography and cozy furniture. I love the bar and diner chairs. The coffee isn't particularly cheap or particularly tasty (I had a soy Cafe au Lait), but it does the job. There are some tasty looking pastries and for a decent price you can get a lunch sandwich or quiche with a side. I had the quiche lorraine, which was pretty good (but the slice seemed sort of small for how much it cost). Good place to hang out and do some reading or work, or chat with a friend.

Though I haven't visited Mammoth Cafe in years - when it was under different management - I felt comfortable as soon I entered. The vibe was relaxed and friendly, not intimidating or pretentious. The decor was a pleasant mix of cozy and contemporary; and the shop was exceptionally clean and organized. I didn't try any food but the breakfast and lunch menu looked amazing. However, I was less than impressed by my $4.19  + tip soy latte (more expensive than most other specialty coffee shops in the area).

Two young baristas were working. They were cute and friendly but it appeared that they had not been properly trained on their equipment. The portafilter was laying exposed on the drain of the espresso machine, not secured in the grouphead as it should be. The espresso was under-extracted - there was hardly a crema on my friend's dopio. The milk in my latte was foamy and bubbly, not smooth and consistent. Also, the barista was hesitant to serve my drink a ceramic mug (it was 2:15, they closed at 3). Worst of all, I am pretty sure they were playing Dave Matthews Band Pandora.

Despite the aforementioned complaints, I liked enough things about Mammoth Cafe that I would return. Perhaps the barista was new or just having an off day. Regardless, next time I am going to stick to a drip coffee and order a vegetarian wrap.

I would recommend Mammoth to someone looking for a comfortable place to catch up with friends or get some work done (yes, wifi + outlets, quiet, and plenty of indoor/outdoor seating), but not to a coffee aficionado.

    Be weary, they close early!

Great breakfast menu and the food is always delicious! The coffee is awesome and the staff is always very nice and friendly. There is free wifi and it's a wonderful place to just sit and stay for a while. I reccommend everyone check out Mammoth, especially now that they are open through the afternoon.

Comfortable and open atmosphere.  Delicious baked goods and decent coffee.  I love the scones and I believe the coffee is the local Seven Hills variety.  The owner, Case, is very gracious and accommodating and the location is extremely convenient while heading into downtown Cinci in the morning.

Most of my favorite coffee shops are located in Clifton but for a cup of good coffee and some excellent food Mammoth is close enough for a leisurely walk or a quick bike ride. It was bought by a friends mother last year and has continued to do well and provide a space for local art, great coffee and vegan breakfast burritos. I've always felt a warm presence in the room and they often have live music.

I brought my dog several times. Outside is a small water container and very limited seating in the shade. My roommate and I ate a quick breakfast one morning before work. the food preparation is not quick but it is worth the wait. Matt's machiato was hand delivered to the table by the Linda, the owner.

Linda's daughter Liz Wu is heavily involved in Cincinnati jazz and world influenced music so look for really good musical acts.

Stopped in for breakfast today and overheard the proprietor explaining that he just recently purchased the cafe from the previous owner.

We tried the vegetarian quiche, which came with a side (I chose fresh fruit) and a mini muffin, and the breakfast burrito special, which contained egg, ham, cheddar, and salsa, and a side of baked apples. We both enjoyed our piping hot choices.

The cafe has several coffee and tea options, as well as soft drinks and water. The inside is eclectic; plenty of seating options and reading material. Several customers chose to eat at the small outside patio.

Not the kind of place you would rush in and out of, but if you have time to linger over lunch or breakfast and a cup of joe, I highly recommend it! Prices are maybe a little expensive, but the quality of food was excellent.

Stopped in for a 'pick-me-up', was told by the owner she poured the strongest coffee she had (very nice and personable).  First taste was good, but then it was just hot water after that.  Total cost was $2.00.  Handed her my debit card and two days later a $3.18 charge came through for Mammoth Coffee??  Will pay cash if there is a next time.

Cute little cafe to go to for coffee or tea.  The chai tea latte with soy milk is delightful, but I wouldn't recommend the green tea over ice unless you really enjoy the taste.  However, all the coffee and drinks are fresh and they like to mix it up.  THey have a peanut butter mocha frappe which was voted one of the best by the enquirer and also smoothies for more of a fruity option. The menu also has a few good picks.  The fluffleupagus wrap with peanut butter, banana and marshmallow fluff is sinfully good however it strangely comes with tortilla chips. However, I found they helped when the wrap got too sweet. I also tried the hummus and was a little dissapointed it came with tortilla chips rather than pita so I would go for the side of salsa or guacamole instead. They also carry bon bonerie desserts including opera cream pie which is always a plus.  Mammoth serves beers as well ( a sierra nevada is about $3). Prices are good.  THeres nothing more than about $5.  THere's aways an event gonig on there too. Usually theres a gallery opening and whenever I've gone in theres always plenty of great art displayed.  Mammoth also has wireless and access to my fav magazine, Cinweekly!!
