My boyfriend and I visited Nantucket Bucket for the first time tonight and we were very pleased...our server Kristen was great, when you see how much an employee likes a place it's easy for the patrons to like it as well. We started with the calamari something that a lot of restaurants do, but not many restaurants do well. The calamari was not rubbery or greasy and the flavor was great. For the main course I had the Lobster Roll with Waffle Fries, the lobster tasted fresh their was plenty of it and it did not have too much mayonnaise, I think they were right on the money with this one. My boyfriend got the steam pot and he was very pleased it was huge and the seafood was fresh. We will definitely be going back to the Nantucket Bucket. Thanks again to our waitress Kristen and I'm guessing the owner that came around at the end of the meal to make sure that everything was to our liking.

I like the bucket option that can be ordered without sausage or seafood although it's kick ass with all that in there as well. The service at the bar with Kelly is so awesome that I've never sat at any other seat before. Last time I visited I tried the portabella sammich, and reconfirmed my carnivore roots once again. It was really good...but where's the beef? My consort got the grouper, which is great if you absolutely insist on cooking your seafood. Of course I'll be Bach.

Came here after golf and between bars for a quick bite around 3 PM on a Tuesday and we had the place to ourselves. I ordered Stella on tap of course and browsing through their menu, I decided on a lobster roll and a lobster mac n cheese for an extra $2. The roll was nice & fresh, portion was big and fresh. The mac n cheese was great too.
I understand that this place is packed on weekends so make sure you get there early or plan for extra waiting time.

First of all, the address is a bit misleading. If you go by the street count down, you THINK this is going to be down near Crispers & Starbucks, but NO! It's actually just behind Renaissance Realty, off of 5th in Safety Harbor.

Once you find the place though, you're not going to be disappointed. And this comes from me, someone who does not generally LIKE seafood.  We met up with some friends and found this little converted house and made a foursome for dinner.  Making with the appetizers, we had their bacon and cheese waffle fries and calamari for starters. I wasn't too keen on the fries as the cheese sauce was more like queso dip vs real cheese, but the calamari. OH MY GOD! tender, light and not a bit rubbery at all. Someone finally got it perfect!

Dinner for us came in the form of a Scallop plate for my friend's husband, Mahi Mahi for me, and our respective spouses got their specialties: the buckets, a flavorful blend of vegetables and broth with seafood added in. The husbeast opted for a half pound of Shrimp (I think he got more) and our dear friend got snow crab. There was enough food on our table to feed a small kingdom.

This leads us to dessert. We sampled both that were on the menu, the Rum Cake and the home made Key Lime pie. Both were fantastic and the portions were HUGE. I swear I am not kidding when I say they gave us almost a quarter of the key lime pie, and the rum cake HAD to have been soaked with a good ounce or two of quality dark rum.

I'll certainly go back, the Mahi Mahi was perfect!

Frenchy's has been DETHRONED for best GROUPER SAMMICH by Nantucket Bucket.

We're big fans of hitting up Safety Harbor for 3rd Friday each month, and we usually park at Nantucket Bucket.  Admittedly, we never go in, but have been interested.  We're just not usually hungry when we head over that way.  Well, this past 3rd Friday, we made it a point to be hungry, and thank goodness for that.

We sat at the bar to circumvent the 40 minute queue for a seat and met Kelly, the world's most friendly bartender.  She quickly served us with some delicious Queen of Wheat hefeweissen beers.  We saw that the market price for grouper was $11.95, so I decided to jump on it, and La Chica ordered a personal mussel bucket.  I can honestly say that I wasn't ready for such a good grouper sandwich.  I've been let down so many times in the past.  In fact, I've been disappointed more times than delighted.  I order them up fried because I'm a chubby, gluttonous southern boy, and I likes my fried foods.  The breading on this sandwich was perfect in thickness, chrunchability and seasoning.  I could order just the breading and be excited.  The filet was the perfect size and flawlessly flaky.  The taste matched it's appearance in every way.  I tried to take a few good pics with my crappy cell cam to show pre-and-post assembly.  If you dig grouper sandwiches like I do, I cannot put enough on how much you need to sample this one.  I also had the lobster mac 'n cheese, and it was good, but don't waste the carb compartment space in your gut for it.  It was extremely secondary  to the sandwich.  The chica's bucket was good too, but I'll let her expand on that in her review.

I'm going 4 star for such an all around pleasant experience.  If when I return, the sandwich is as good as it was on this night, I'll update to a 5 star for conquering consistency.

Cool side note: This is a food truck next to a charing old house.  The house is where the bar and interior seating are.  There is a huge outdoor dining area out back where you can see the food truck on the side of the house.

Went there on Friday night and the place was pretty packed, which we feel is always a good sign. We waited for just a few minutes and were then seated in a very quaint back room. The wait staff was very pleasant and attentive, but most importantly the food was very very good. Kelly the bartender and Heather the check were fantastic. Would definitely recommend. This restaurant now provides some diversity in our town with most other places offering very similar menus consisting primarily of bar style food.

This was the week of second chances.
So disappointed. Our server was training a new employee and they both were great but the food...what others have said on yelp is true. $13.95 for a 8oz - 10oz lobster tail was so over cooked and shrived that the meat itself was no more than two fingers worth. The potato skins with shrimp and crab was simply awful.
I did check the bathroom for the white table paper (mentioned in a previous comment) but did not see it. Hopefully they saw the post and moved it. This this place is adorable but there is absolutely no reason to go back. Sadly. Oh, and I guess good Hostesses are just hard to find.

My husband and I were in Safety Harbor for a running event and set out on foot to find a place for dinner.  We settler on Nantucket, as the converted house atmosphere caught our eye. We were told 20 minutes for a table (no problem, it was a busy Saturday night) and after confusion at the host want, we were seared after about ten minutes.

The menu had many options that all seemed inviting, though I guess I was expecting a little more of a New England theme (my husband I originally from New England). I ordered the fish tacos. Good, but a little bland. Service was good considering how busy the restaurant was. It was a nice atmosphere and I'd return, anxious to find something else in the menu with more of a wow factor.

    Bewildered from Boston

This past Friday night I gave the Nantucket Bucket a second shot at winning me over. For months I watched the location being built and could not wait to finally have a restaurant that just might bring me the comforts of home - right here in my home town. My disappointment began as I intently reviewed the menu looking in search of my beloved clam chowder. Not there. Instead they had a lobster bisque and a seafood stew. Really? A Nantucket bucket without clam chowder? I quickly asked for a Boston beer. Not there. Not even the most widely distributed and now commercial beer- Sam Adams. I did not expect a Cisco Whale's Tale Pale Ale, but come on, no Sam Adams? I tasted their bisque along with a local Florida beer and called it a night. When I asked the bartender about their menu she immediately said " you must be from Boston?, we have had a lot of the northerners come in and try to tell us how to do things" spoken in a very snide way. She was not receptive to any feedback on the restaurant. When I asked her where she was from, New York. Ugh. I moved on. They should probably take Nantucket out of their name, as I think it only draws people seeking the comforts of home and they will be sorely disappointed when they get there to find- its simply not there. My second attempt was this past Friday night, which happened to be 3rd Friday in safety harbor. A very busy night for all restaurants.  I cannot even comment on the food from this night as we were never served. We waiting 20 minutes to get a drink (the order came out wrong) and were never approached again to place our order. We left after 50 minutes of waiting for our waitress to come back. So I can now add that the service sucks. A kind man finally came out after I went in to get the check (he may have been the owner, although never said so) and took care of our tab along with an apology. I would have much rather he taken our order. Needless to say, they did not win me over. On a side note, if you go into the women's room, you'll notice they keep the roll of white paper they put on all the tables you eat off of- right next to the toilet.

Needless to say, if you're a Boston native like myself, do not be fooled by the name, you'd be better off making the trek down to Frenchie's on Clearwater Beach to get your seafood fix.

Visit time/day: Lunch on a weekday
Atmosphere: Cute comfortable outdoor patio with picnic tables, casual nautical theme

I ordered the Mahi sandwich - blackened. I received a nice size portion of Mahi that was cooked perfectly, served on a bun with lettuce, tomato, onion with kettle chips, pickle, coleslaw, and tartar sauce. Nothing phenomenal about the sandwich but the Mahi was well prepared and seasoned.

Service was a bit slow (maybe took 1/2 hour for a group of 7 to get our meals and it didn't seem super busy) - they might still be working out the kinks because they are relatively new.

    Will definitely go back!

First, let me say I love supporting small, locally owned businesses. Often, you find GREAT food, excellent service, and a local flavor that is simply not available at any of the larger restaurants. This restaurant is such a place. Thought the theme was sufficiently nautical, 'boathouse' is a bit of a stretch as this place is nowhere near the water.

Unfortunately the food was prepared so poorly that not only would I not go back, I would recommend others to stay away. The 'bucket for two' we ordered seemed promising, a New England Clam Bake type deal with corn, potatoes,  toasted bread for a small fee and your pick of several different types of seafood a la carte style.

Apparently the seafood was supposed to be prepared in a court bouillon type liquid and served in a bucket. Why someone thought receiving boiled down spent celery and heaping hunks of onion with our bucket I can't imagine. The 'hearty stock' was essentially tap water, and just as bland. The seafood was so drastically overcooked, I immediately could tell by the look of it. (Note to cooks: When shrimp completely curl in on themselves they are useful only for Ramen noodles and treading shoes).

The replacement shrimp were almost as bad, and tasteless. The oysters, which there were few, were badly overcooked as well. The crab, which was the unfortunate highlight of the meal WAS sorta fresh until someone in the kitchen cooked it to death.

Unfortunately because of the snowbird population of Safety Harbor which this restaurant is apparently very popular with, it will probably be around for a very long time. I call this the KIssimmee effect. Locals will know why.

When a place like Hooter's does better seafood than your seafood joint, it's time to throw in the dishrag.

I tried the lobster roll and was rather disappointed after living in Boston over 10 yrs. It appeared to be a lobster salad roll with imitation crab meat as a filler. I do not know the exact ingredients but rather disappointed. I also visited during a third Friday and was shocked that the staffing was so short with just one bartender at each bar working like maniacs to just stay afloat.  Is this the managers first restaurant or not paying attention to details. I think the place would be better to offer a seafood burrito similar to the one offered on Martha's Vineyard in Menemsha as a featured entree. I will give this place another try because it's the only seafood place in Safety Harbor and has a nice selection. I hope that since it just opened it is going through beginning learning experiences.

Good stuff! We had a bucket first time here when the menu was rather limited during grand opening. My wife's not crazy about this type food, but being from NE, I don't mind coming by myself at all! Smoked fish spread, lobster corn chowder and bacon and blue cole slaw hit the spot! Grew mix and match of appetizers, sides!
