Yummy yet just barely above average Thai place.
I love it for the atmosphere. The different levels and big window views to enjoy Mt. Adams make it more on the upscale end for Thai. Of course, parking can be a pain in Mt. Adams as well.

Many specific dishes seem to already have been mentioned... but I would recommend the Plum wine to compliment whatever Thai dish you choose.

Our waitress, who usually serves in the corner upstairs, was entertaining. She had glasses and was slimmer- ask her to do her coin joke.

Very disappointed with their pad thai.  You first eat with your eyes.  After looking at my order of pad thai when it first came to my table, I had no desire in me to even try one bite.  The noodles were oddly colored.  Some parts of it had a hint of brown and other parts were just clear unflavored noodles.  Then I took a bit and the flavor was also a big let down.  It had a weird sour taste... tasted as if it was spoiled.  I only had a total of three bites of the pad thai and was done with it.  The only saving grace is their yellow curry which was not bad.  One of my pet peeves though, is when the order of curry doesn't come with rice.  I don't understand what they expect us to eat the curry with if we don't have any rice.  An order of rice costs extra on top of the curry order... ridiculous.  At least it was edible.

This place is super convenient, but gets busy on the weekends.

Definitely not the best thai food in town, so do not think about trying this place for its pad thai or pad see you or even ladna.

My usual is the crispy duck!  Best dish in Cincinnati! Never pour the sauce on the duck before you are ready to eat it.  Best left crispy. =)

Hadn't been there in a long time. Will probably be another long time before I go back. The food and service didn't match the price. Bangkok Bistro is Hyde Park is a better option.

Every time I've eaten here, it's been mediocre, food and service-wise. For a restaurant in Mt. Adams, I expect better. Maybe I'm just ordering the wrong things... but I'd definitely recommend Cincinnati's other thai establishments over Teak.

Spent the summer interning in Cincy and this was my favorite place to dine out. I typically stuck to the curry dishes (Red Curry!!). Good decor, affordable, and awesome tasting food. Highly recommend this place!

We have loved going to Teak for years.  Food is good, sitting outside is lovely, but last weekend we found a cock roach in the bathroom which is adjacent to the kitchen.  I hope this was just a fluke.  It's making me rethink ever going back.

Went to Teak again fro a quick bit last night. Again, very nice, very friendly. All I had was a bit of soup and a sushi roll. It was tasty and affordable. Nice.

Prices are a lot higher here than any other Thai food place I have been to. Ever. The service and atmosphere are really great. They have a large menu, which includes sushi, so you will find something to order. The sushi options looked great, but I wanted soup that night. I ordered the seafood hotpot. It consisted of chunks of seafood (scallops, shrimp, mussels, crab) in a flavorful broth. It was really good and the portion was huge. The chicken satay was also great.

Bachelorette party, pre-Pavilion...this was the perfect place! Drinks are cheap and reliable, food is very good, and it's perfect for groups. They were very accomodating, and super nice to us, especially the bachelorette. Can't go wrong here!

Go to 'Doodles Noodles' in Hyde Park instead of Teak Thai.

This is my second time eating here at Teak Thai. My first was with another person and I would call my experience sub-par by Cincinnati standards but acceptable. This time I came by myself and my experience was less than desirable.

I was given poor service at a sticky table on an even chair. The dingy atmosphere has not improved in the last 5 months and despite the interesting building that they operate in, the restaurant is run down and very dirty feeling inside. The food was straight up bad. I don't normally say that about places but I was very displeased with the food. The soup, if you can call it that, was a bowl of hot water (I assume chicken-water) with a sprinkling of grade D chopped cabbage in it. It looked and smelled grotesque. I couldn't bring myself to even try it. I ordered the "chicken thai spicy" with a spicy-ness of 8. It arrived hot, with white rice. That was the best part. Beyond that, the chicken was boiled way too long and had a gamey taste. The rest of the meal was sub par. The baby corn was not only limp and gummy but it tasted spoiled. After eating the first one I quickly separated out the remaining pieces.

Lastly, I brought my tablet assuming they had WiFi. When I asked the waiter if they had WiFi, he said "yeah, but I don't know the password" and then he walked away. He didn't apologize or offer to find out what it was. Overall I was over turned off by my experience with Teak Thai, which is a shame as the location and the building have a lot of potential.

Unless things change, I do not recommended it. I love Mount Adams, however next time I'll drive the ten minutes to Hyde park and go to 'Doodles Noodles' for a truly pleasant Asian dish with phenomenal service in a clean and pleasant atmosphere.

High atop the hill sits one of the most delicious spots in Mount Adams. Teak has been a long-time favorite for business lunches or evening dates on the patio. The outdoors area sits in a cobblestone garden on the third floor, with an indoor dining room below, and a sushi bar on the first floor. Throughout the interior is, what else, but polished teak wood. Classy, simple, and just good food.

Naturally, Pad Thai is a popular dish, which is delivered to the table with the wafting scent of peanuts. My most recent meal was stir-fried vegetables with fried tofu, white rice, and a side of wonton soup. The stir-fry contained some of the best seasoned baby corns I have tasted. The wonton soup was filled with hearty vegetables and four pork wontons. The vegetables were a pleasant surprise: traditional wonton soup contains broth, a few wontons and scallions. Teak served up a substantial, well-rounded soup.

Teak also has exceptional sushi, though the portions are on the small side for the price. From 5:00-8:00, $2.00 off well drinks and other liquor specials are available for happy hour, making this a great spot for a drink after work.

    Price per person: $13.00

I've been three times, and have been less than impressed each instance. Sushi is okay, nothing to rave about, unagi don I had last summer was okay, but greatly overpriced, and most recently, shrimp pad thai (spice level 7) was not nearly as good as Ban Thai over on the Eastside.
Will not make an effort to go back.

I use to frequent this place but will not be back! If it wasn't for the ideal location, I do not believe they would have the business that they do. My last visit here was the worst experience I've ever incurred at a Restaurant... Bartender and Management were extremely rude. When I confronted the Manager about extended wait (quoted 15 minutes and waited over an hour) and terrible food (waited 25 minutes for drinks and over an hour for WARM sushi), he told me to not come back if I wasn't happy. I have to admit that the Thai meals are not bad, but sushi is extremely overrated and Management needs to take some classes on properly managing a restaurant. If we want to hit bars in Mount Adams with sushi before, I will gladly drive to Hyde Park for much better sushi and then Mount Adams bars after!

I knew the food here was great, but it took me moving to Seattle to realize how great. There are plenty of Thai places now a days that make a good pad thai or massaman curry, but they only have one thing they are good at. Teak on the other is among the best at everything on there menu, I mean nothing disappoints.
Hands down the best Thai Curries I have ever had, as well as worlds best Thom ka (get it at a 5 spicy to make it the best).
I have had damn near everything on there menu, and could list each dish but I'm gonna spare you thesis I could right.
Short take, there are almost to many choices, Appetizers Chicken satay that blows your mind, they have "thai chicken wings" they are not on the menu but they are there you have to try them.
When you order anything over a 5 be prepared to sweat, if you are a heat freak(like me) you can order 15, 20, 0r 30(they call this thai spicy). But 10 is enough to put in the lavatory office the next day at work so be careful.
If the patio is open sit out there, the downstairs bar is a wonderful place to relax, and have some of there specialty cocktails.
Sushi is killer can't go wrong with it.
They aren't great about keeping reservations on Fri and Sat, so be prepared to wait a few minutes they will hurry to seat you just not quite on time.
Anyone can enjoy this place couples, friends, businesses, and families, a rare thing for a restaurant of this class.
Lastly my biggest suggestion is to try the Thai Spicy noodles and have them add cashews.

The perfect date spot during nice weather.  The back patio/deck is very romantic, just dark enough and plenty of privacy from other patrons.

On a weekend night, you will probably wait for a table, but it is generally worth the wait.  While you are waiting, hit the downstairs bar for a drink.  The bartenders tend to be very pleasant and drink prices reasonable.

Food is always great!  We generally get the Chicken with coconut milk soup.  YUM!  I usually get Pad Thai with tofu and my husband gets Chicken Thai Spicy.  Both great... Though portion sizes might not be as huge as other Thai restaurants.  We always ask for extra chili paste on the side to spice ours up.  Top it all off with a glass of plum wine.

We have never had a problem with service.  The waiters are quick, though maybe not the most friendly, which sometimes is actually nice.

Parking can be an issue.  They do have their own parking lot, but it is most likely full on a weekend.  We usually have to park on a side street and walk.

    Definitely try this place out!

Teak has quickly become one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the city. Located on the main business strip in Mt. Adams, Teak is great for lunch, dinner, or a food pit stop while hitting up the Mt. Adams bars. This place is huge, with lots of different rooms and an unusual mix of indoor and outdoor space. I love the outside patio, so try to snag a spot outside if the weather is right!

Red curry is my favorite Thai dish, so I pretty much order it whenever I try a new place. I have to say that Teak definitely has one of the best red curries around! It's pretty standard in price (about $12.95) and big enough to have some for leftovers for later. I haven't tried anything else on the menu yet, but the few times I've been my friends have always been happy with their dishes. I've heard good things about their spicy noodles and Pad Thai. Teak is known for having spicer dishes, so keep that in mind when choosing your number on the spice scale!

Teak is definitely worth a stop, not just for the food but also for the eclectic atmosphere and great location in Mt. Adams!

Great atmosphere! Such fun outdoors. This place had some nice sashimi. My husband and I are from California and are pretty picky but we really liked what Teak had to offer. Great choice for dinner out on the hill.

Little pricey but worth it for the area and atmosphere.

I'll add this one to my long list of places I won't object to, especially for sushi.  Initially I was put off by the difficult location, but then I realized they have a small parking lot across the street, which is good if you're only in Mt. Adams for dinner.   I've eaten here several times, and they always seem to be accommodating of larger groups or add ons.  They offer the typical thai/sushi combo so popular here in Cincinnati.  I feel like they might be a little better than some of the other places I've eaten, but maybe it's because they serve alcohol (and especially Sake, which makes mediocre sushi infinitely better) .

I like their outdoor patio and they actually have a lot of different seating options on their many levels, few of which are the level you enter on, so expect to take the steps up or down, especially to the bathroom buried in the basement.

Yeah... When you are looking for a decent meal that is in Mt. Adams before you hit the town... you could definitely do worse than Teak.  I have been here lots of times and my experience has always been about the same.  I think I need to break this review up into a few parts.

***Getting to Teak and Parking***  Mt. Adams is a pain in the you know what just to drive around in... so unless you are planning on doing other things than going to Teak in Mt. Adams, or you can walk there,  I recommend finding someplace else to visit... they do have a parking lot but it is most always full and you can't leave your car there for later.

***Teak Property*** I agree it's impressive looking.  I really like their new bar on the corner and all of the different patios and tiers built into the buildings and the hillside is really cute.  I love the small and large spaces they have and they can accommodate many different group sizes.  However the complete lack of a hostess stand is very confusing to many people if they don't have someone standing there.  Oh and the men's room reminds me of some dive bar... its a big restaurant and a TINY restroom.

***Teak Food*** Decent thai food cooked well with good ingredients.  Good sushi with a great variety of choices and I love the wooden bridges and boats and fish that the sushi is served on if you order a lot.  My only complaint is that many times the sushi rolls are not well constructed and fall apart when being chopsticked.  I would say that they spice a little on the conservative side so if you like things spicy go 1 number higher than you think, but that's just me.

***Teak Service*** They do take reservations which is awesome.  But in general I would call this Slow Food Thai.  I've never made it in and out of there in less than 2 hours... with 2 people or with 12 people.  Its mostly just a lot of waiting around though.  I guess maybe the kitchen can't keep up with the number of tables or something?  I just particularly frown on my water going empty and someone not asking if I'd like another drink and I rarely get asked.  And the check always takes forever.

So overall, if you want sushi/asian cusine and you are already planning to be in Mt. Adams, you can't go wrong.  If you are hunting amazing sushi, there are better places in Cincinnati in my opinion.

I rarely go into Mt. Adams, but when I do, Teak is almost always a part of the evening.  Typically there's quite a wait for dinner on the weekends, but a friend and I went on a Friday night around 8:30 and were seated right away.  The restaurant was pretty empty, but perhaps it was a result of Mayfest, which had closed down the main street in Mt. Adams.

I've only had the sushi at Teak, and it used to be one of my favorite sushi spots in Cincinnati, but things seem to have gone downhill a bit over the last year or so.  I ordered a green salad with ginger dressing, an avocado roll, and the Teak Roll.  The salad was nothing special, but I loved the dressing.  The rolls were both fine, but the Teak Roll, which was filled with crab, eel, scallions and asparagus, lacked the flavor that I expected.  My friend ordered two rolls, both of which she said were good, but not great.

The other thing that's a little odd about Teak is that while the dining room and patio are both very nice, the bathroom reminds me of a college bar bathroom.  It's kind of grungy-looking, and the floors are rarely clean.  It's unfortunate, because the environment at Teak overall is enjoyable.

I'm not going to rush back to Teak anytime soon, but it's a decent place to get ok sushi in Mt. Adams.

Very grandiose decor and beautiful architecture! A bit maze-like for a first timer like myself. Sat by the window and discovered they have a parking lot! Or do they? The lot said TEAK but who knows. Street parked the mini cooper in the tightest spot known to mankind.

We decided to stick to the sushi menu this time. Tried the curry puffs as an appetizer which was not as spicy as I would have liked. But still a yummy start to our meal! Their menu is extensive with a variety of creative rolls but did not have many simple rolls without all the frying and the cream cheese bonanza. So finally we decided on three rolls, Rainbow, Zombie, and Mexican along with mackerel and salmon roe nigiri. The best word to describe the rolls were "meh..." My other impression was that the rolls were BIG for some reason. Pretty sure the "kimchee sauce" on the Mexican roll was the same as the "spicy sauce" on the Zombie roll. Please differentiate. Also, the salmon roe nigiri also had slices of cucumber in it. Did not appreciate that. On a side note, our server was perfect; considerate and attentive.

We headed to the bar side of the restaurant which left a bad impression. There was already another couple there who seemed to be friends with the bartender and the employees. The employees were obviously drinking on the job and then started arguing with each other behind the bar. Seriously? Very unprofessional! Also the basketball game kept turning on and off on the screen as I suppose they were controlling it from a computer. Technical difficulties I understand, but employee arguments should not be displayed in front of customers.

I'll definitely return to the restaurant to try some Thai food next time. The bar area? Not so much.

This Thai place feels like a real Thai place. That's a slight burn to most other Thai restaurants around Cincinnati.

I came here for Thai food so that's what I've ordered each time. The food is not overpriced at all but what I love is the huge selection of food. Each time I've come I just look at the different names and pictures and then randomly pick one. The food has turned out great and the portions are pretty decent to might need to take some home for leftovers.

Try their curries since I've had that a couple times and it's been quite good.

I'm going to throw it out there now. I don't know much about sushi, and I didn't get it when I went here.

I have been to Teak twice now, and I enjoyed it both times. I'm going to keep this review short, because most of you stopped reading when I said I didn't get sushi.

Essentially, the food is not overpriced, I enjoyed the food, it has it's own parking lot (technically it shares it with permanent apartment parking, so don't park in the wrong spot. The lot is small too, so it often filled, but in Mount Adams any free, convenient parking is good), and the atmosphere is very impressive. There are so many different places to sit. There is a basement with a bar, an outdoor patio with multiple levels, and upstairs dining area, and much more. I believe the restaurant encompasses three buildings and the lot behind them, though it may be more. The first time I went here there was an acoustic guitarist playing on some steps at the back of the courtyard/patio area who was pretty good.

If you don't know much about Asian cuisine, this place is for you! If you do know a lot about Asian cuisine, I don't know, read another review from someone who does.

So many people had told me great things about the sushi here, but frankly, I don't get it.  Yes, they have a great selection of sake, including milk, but the sushi portions were small, lacked creativity and frankly not that fresh.

I wish I would have had a thai meal instead.  Next time, if I give it another go...

Curry, glorious curry!  Yelp, thanks to you I waltzed past the sushi here at Teak (normally a trap for me) and perused my way to the curry section of the menu.  I'm a sucker for seafood, so the Seafood Choochee (in a red curry sauce) demanded that I order it.

We were a party of 8, and our waitress did a great job of making sure all of the food was delivered to the table at approximately the same time.  Not only was she good at that, but she was funny, courteous, and on top of our needs throughout the entire meal, despite the fact the restaurant was incredibly busy on a Saturday night.  (Those without reservations spent significant time waiting in the bar area.)

The food was delicious.  I ordered my dish a 7 (their scale runs from 3-10), and while I think I could have withstood an 8, it certainly brought enough spice to keep me happy.  I will certainly add this to my normal rotation for nights I don't mind fighting for parking in Mt. Adams.

I enjoy Teak and the Mt. Adams district in general.

Teak is recognized as one of the standard favorites of asian foods in Cincinnati. Something that I tend to think is a bit over-hyped, but I think it has a lot to do with the atmosphere, that setting atop Mt. Adams is so amazing and just has this charm with it.

The patio is a wonderful surprise - that is if the weather is on your side.
I really enjoy  most of the Thai menu - don't think you can really go wrong there!

The service itself took forever, something I wasn't fond of considering how pricey this place is.

Teak Thai stands as my favorite asian restaurant in Cincinnati. Now it just barely beats out Riverside, sure, but the atmosphere of this Mt. Adams establishment is one I just can't say enough good things about. If you're inside in the dining room, or on the beautiful and surprisingly large multi-level patio, it just doesn't get any better.

And while it's true, I think the atmosphere of this restaurant truly carries it in my review, I still don't count the food out for the reason this place consistently delivers with quality. They offer award-winning sushi, they offer a wide menu of staples and more unique options, along with a full range of hot sauces (if you're into that kinda thing) and top it off with a full option of mixed drinks.

On paper alone, Teak takes the cake.

But -and this is so important- I've yet to have a bad experience. All times of year, at all times of the day and night have always lead me to delicious food, helpful and quality service, and top-notch overall restaurant experience.

As you walk into Teak, you see a giant banner reading, "Best Sushi in Cincinnati for 2009 and 2010," rated by City Beat. That sets a sky-high high bar that, frankly, it just doesn't live up to.

Teak is very impressive looking. It's a giant restaurant with two floors - a bar on the bottom with seating and then the upstairs portion with both an inside space and an outside patio. Rarely, if ever, do you need reservations unless you're bringing a monster crowd of people. We walked right in and had our choice of wherever for seats. We chose outside on their beautiful stone patio.

The waitress came right over with our menu, which I liked. In fact, she was great - attentive but not too attentive. She was basically there when I wanted her to be, refilling drinks of asking if we needed anything else. It was perfect.

However, the food? Less so. I was really craving sushi and, tonight, different sushi. I can sometimes be your normal cucumber and California roll type of guy, but not now. I went with the Eel roll, the Mexican roll, which was spicy and kind of tasted like a taco ... yeah, in a very strange way, and the Zombie Roll, again, spicy and kind of awkwardly shaped. It was long and flat and very hard to eat without looking like an idiot.

None of these rolls were amazing. The eel was pretty great but the other two, eh... and they seemed really great on the menu. I'm worried that a lot of these rolls are like that. Good but nothing fantastic. Certainly not the best sushi in town.

Also, it took forever for them to come. We ordered the sushi and an appetizer of steamed dumplings and they all basically were delivered together. Not really what we're looking for when it comes to an appetizer - kind of defeats the point. However the dumplings were pretty damn good.

I've heard good things about the Thai portion of this food, but who knows, maybe it's just blown-up hype as well. I'll probably investigate, but I'm in no hurry to run back there anytime soon.

Well, it's been a while since I've actually sampled the Thai food at Teak.

I go on a fairly regular basis for the sushi, which I think is fantastic.  I have friends who are eating their way through the Teak sushi menu, rating it with a Wow or WW (for double wow!) if they like it.

I've sampled a few of their more unique rolls, including the Who Dey roll, the Cincinnati Reds roll, the Teak roll and the Mt. Adams roll.  Another thing that I love, is that the staff is always willing to accommodate me if I have a weird request.  (I really hate cream cheese.)

Everything I've ever tried has been fresh and delicious.  I like to sit at the bar, where Dan will whip up some fabulous cocktail for me (whatever the blue thing was, and the one with the coconut? OMG.) or I can grab a $4 glass of wine.

My other favorite is the green salad with a ginger dressing that is slightly sweet.  MMMM.

Of course, we usually go on Tuesday nights, when there's no wait, and you can just relax at the bar.

The only reason I'm not giving Teak 5 stars, is the prices.  They're fair for sushi, but the entrees are a bit pricey.  Not to mention, I'm cheap. ;)

I've heard they've added late night sushi on Fridays and Saturdays... now this I have to see. :D

I can write this whole review in a simple complex sentence; the sushi and tempora are subpar; the thai is good; the prices are high; the patio is very nice, weather permitting.

Bottom Line: I might be back for thai food.

I was in Cincinnati for a wedding and decided to venture to Mt. Adams on foot.  It was Memorial Day, and all the car rental places in Downtown were closed.  So the bf and I make the 40 minute uphill trek to see this pretty hill that everyone keeps talking about.  To my disappointment, Mt. Adams was kind of a dump.  It wasn't pretty, and there wasn't really anything to do.  So what do we do when there is nothing to do?  EAT!

This Thai restaurant smelled like an old house, and it didn't feel clean.  The bf and I were the only patrons in the restaurant.  (We realized later that it was early, and most Cincinnatians eat on the patio.)  Since we had been walking and sweating, we weren't interested in eating outdoors, nor did we inquire about it.  I wasn't expecting much from this place, but it surprised me!  I always, always order yellow chicken curry, spicy.  It's how I measure the quality of a Thai restaurant.  Well, Teak Thai has one of the best yellow curries I've ever had!  The bf ordered the seafood choochee, and as much as I LOVE yellow chicken curry, his dish was better than mine!

I would make another 40 minute uphill trek to go to this place.  Totally worth it!

Meh - I keep going back here hoping to get some of that great sushi I used to get back in the day! Now their sushi is either fishy or has a funny taste. The rolls are too big to eat in one bite & fall apart in the soy sauce :(  who wants to cute a roll in half in order to eat it with a fork? Not me!

The restaurant is in a great location - wish there were more sushi places in mount adams!

We went to the place on a recommendation.  The service sucked, and i thought the food was just ok.  The red curry may have been good, but it was too spicy for me (my bf likes it hot!).  I got the pad thai at a spice level of 3, and it wasn't good.  Don't get it.  The veggie sushi was good, and I would recommend it.

I wasn't overall impressed by the place.  The coolest thing about it was all the outdoor seating.  It was a nice evening, and at least we got to enjoy that.

The outside decor of this restaurant is interesting and they try to pull off authentic Asian/Thai.  The inside decor follows the same trend and has some great, interesting features.

The food is again somewhat par for the course of Thai restaurants in Cincinnati.  It is good, but I wouldn't write home to mom about it.  The Pad Thai - an especially easy Thai dish in my opinion - was only OK.  It was a little sweet and less spicy.  I want my Thai food to kick back, and Teak's food did not.

The parking situation, it should be mentioned, is abysmal in Mt. Adams.  I think you could probably do better in Cincinnati, but I just haven't found where.

I've been here a few times now for the Thai food.  The Pad Thai and the Spicy Fried Noodle is VERY SWEET.  I wanted something spicy but the sugar overpowered the spiciness.

I wouldn't recommend the stir-fry noodles but their Panang Curry and Shrimp and Pineapple friend rice is not bad.

Also, their prices are a bit high for Thai food but its not too expensive.

When I lived here for a summer, my wife and I checked this place out.  I'll  be honest, the food was pretty much what you would expect from any Thai place.  We had the pad thai (as most people do) and a stir fry of sorts.  While they weren't anything spectacular, what really stood out was the service.  Our server was SUPER friendly and was a real good sport about interacting with us (and even giving us directions).

I think most places in Mt. Adams are more about the ambience, and less about the food.  If you want really good Thai, and don't care about ambience, go elsewhere.  If you want a nice balance of the two, check this place out.  The service alone would make me consider coming back.

When I was living in the Cinci area (2003 - 2004) I frequented this place and although I didn't sample every single thing on the menu I was not disappointed with their food in any way.

Parking is a challenge, but the alley access is rather fun and unique with excellent decor, atmosphere and a variety of places to sit and enjoy your meal.  Very good service to go along with the great food.

If I had more time in the city and could sample more of the menu I may have given them five stars.
