Fun place to lounge around if you're staying at the W, or just coming here on a random weeknight. Their happy hour has a nice selection for whiskey drinks and snacks.

They have a DJ on weekend nights, but it's really more of a chill place than a #omgletsgocrazyyolo type of place.

Stopped in one night to check the bar, service and clientele. It's one of the better upscale bars in the Westwood area. Drinks, snacks, service are great. A low key upscale bar where one can chill out. Clientele seems educated and classy as well. Recommended for a date night or get-together with old friends to catch up on the latest.

Just OK. Small but decent booze menu (scotch, bourbon, whiskey etc.). Place is often dead, but sometimes crowded.

Came here with a large group for my cousin's 21st birthday to celebrate.

It's nice because they're are places to sit in the corner with sofas and chairs, just come early if you want your space for the rest of the night and you can chill the whole night, seems like if you come late, you'll be just standing around by the bar, or waiting till people leave. Sometimes 2 people can just take up a whole area that seated like 6 people.

Anyways the drinks are really good! Just pricey, but I'm sure you expect that at the W, and the area you are in. They supposedly do not allow you to dance, but by the end of the night I was dancing with my cousins by the DJ. They do have music, not bad tunes except when he started playing random mexican music haha. I believe some bites to eat as well since they had a small food menu, but only till 9.

Our Waitress was really nice and kept asking us if we wanted drinks also helped us move to a better place and answer all our questions!

Jalapeno Margarita (3.5)- good drink, really taste the jalapeno and the alcohol at the same time, pretty strong for me though! This would have been a good 3rd drink, but not bad!

Gummy Bear Shots (4)- Nice big shot!

Red Headed Slut (4)- Yummy! Smallish shot but good.

Also when the guys were checking my ID when I sat near the lounge area he literally just stared at it, asked for my birthday, and jokingly I said I have other cards that have my name on it, stared at it again, then asked me for another card!!! SERIOUSLY, I handed him my credit card, and he looked closely at it -___- My ID was the longest looked at in the group, I'M 23, and I sure looked like it that night.......weird.........They seem like they could be really strict or somthing. Weird.

This is the perfect place if you just want to sit the entire night and drink and listen to music, and socialize or catch up. Not really crazy place to get drunk. It's classy and cozy.

Very nice lounge to chill and hang out at. Located at the W hotel in Westwood the Whiskey Blue is definitely a classy place to hang out and have a drink with people. Interior is very well decorated and feels very upscale but not over the top classy. Never any line to get in and no cover. It is very spacious with couches throughout and two rooms in the back and an outside patio area. There is valet outside and if not then you can find street parking which isn't too hard to find. Drinks are normal Hollywood prices. Only bad thing I probably will say about this place is that when it does get very busy, it can be a while until you can get a drink at the bar. There are usually only 2 bar tenders working and it gets pretty crowded so be prepared to wait.

Best Chocolatini in the country! They have special recipy of making it & it was Havenly. The waitress was so nice that even shared how to make it & gave us mini bottle of liqueur.
Also love the decor.

Very hit and miss but nonetheless a decent looking place, however potentially very dead. Been here about five times, atmosphere was decent twice.
Security is cordial though and the some of the bar staff is ok, but not really a friendly place I would say. Prices are reasonable for what it is. Music touch and go.

Located on first floor of the W Hotel in Westwood (next to the restaurant Nine Thirty), the space inside is pretty cool with plenty of tables and couches. The waitresses and bouncers were nice. The drinks are reasonably priced by LA standards. My only gripe is that the music is way too loud -- the set up is more like a lounge and not like a club (no dance floor) so what's the point of the almost deafening music??

We were in town for the Annie Awards and were staying at the W. Stopped in here on our last night in town to check it out. I was impressed by the:

1) spaciousness of the place (lots of standing area and lounge-y spots to sit)
2) decor--very chic and elegant
3) DELICIOUS STRAWBERRY MOJITOS. so so GOOD. (pricey at $15 each, but I guess that's expected for the W?)

The W is located in a seemingly suburban-y area? So the fact that people come here to go out/clubbing is a little interesting to me (versus it being located in a more lively/downtown area). But if I were a student in the UCLA area, I could see myself coming here a lot.

Great hotel lounge!

Not my crowd at all! Either I went on a wrong night or this is a bar for older crowds. This bar is considered an upscale bar located at the W Hotel in Westwood. Their drinks start at $15. And I have to say their drinks are pretty strong.

They have a dance floor in the back and a nice lounge area with chairs and tables all around the bar. I went on a Friday night at around 11:00-12:00AM and it wasn't really cracking. They had a live DJ by the dance floor. He played wide selection of music, which included salsa, some old school rap, and even dubstep... I was not used to going to a bar and listening to salsa music. I guess it's about the experience.

What a nice chill place. I enjoyed the no-line entrance, no-hassle bouncers, and the good vibes. There's no dance floor here so you make the whole place your dance floor.

The furniture, lights, curtains, and look of the venue is very reminiscent of Las Vegas. That could only be me though. There are no stupid "reserved" signs (which you know isn't saved for anyone) so you just go from couch to couch as your group migrates throughout the night.

awesome signature cocktails... cute barstaff.
Try the pure silk! It's like a mojito with greyhound ingredients!

Parking is expensive or impossible to find. Take your pick.

Came here to celebrate a friends birthday this past Saturday. Not sure if it was the time I came (around midnight) but there was no line. Been here before and I think it's lame how they try to make it look "hot" by keeping a line outside. It isn't worth waiting in a line for...

Cozy lounge with lots of seating areas. DJ was sweet and played all of my requests. Dance floor was decent, given the size. Bar was pretty standard but brownie points because the bartender was attentive. But then again, how hard is it to pour Don Julio straight with some lime? Dirty martini was really dirty.

Crowd varied from dressy to nice casual, college kids to older business professionals. I just like how it wasn't too packed. I hate it when sweaty bodies keep drunkenly bumping into me at other "hot" clubs in Hollywood. Overall, good, chill night with friends.

Street parking is available within walking distance -- the meters by Ralphs is free at night. But watch out, the hill is a little steep for heels.

I guess Friday night is really not a good night for Whiskey Blue...

Came early for happy hour with $7 appetizers and $7 tequila drinks. The food was pretty decent and well portioned. Sweet potato fries with white truffle aioli was the star. Drinks tasted fine but not very strong. But I guess that's what you expect for happy hour pours...

People started showing up around 10pm for the bar and we thought it was going to get crowded and fun but no... I think it looked like it was about to get to decent capacity for about... 5 minutes. Rest of the time was just plain empty. It really started emptying out around midnight. We were too lazy to go anywhere else. By the time we left around 1AM, I believe there was a grand total for 20 people inside.

The Decor is superior to the DJ is superior to the Crowd. There were comfy couches everywhere and they were definitely available to sit on without selling out money for a bottle. But oh wait, a guy actually invited us to sit at his "exclusive VIP table". Look around buddy, I can sit where ever I want! All the songs the DJ played were goodies but it was just a very very random mixture and order of things. And back to the people... definitely tend to be older... some even going grey... But gosh not a single good looking man in sight. And even the ladies... there is certainly no door policy here. Both the goods and the odds are poor.

Will I ever come back? Maybe... because the best thing about this place is that it's walking distance to my apt...

Whiskey blue is a pretty decent lounge. I've been here a couple times for events and for bdays and random outings.

The vibe is pretty classy and modern. Dark lighting and a lot of reds and browns in the color scheme. If a room could be sexy, this would be it. It has a very relaxed feeling and has this resort on an island feel to it with the couches and beds in the back.

Parking's always a bother in this area but you'd be lucky to find some street parking. They definitely look at how you dress and sometimes make you wait out side just because they want to draw a line.

Honestly this place is simply NOT poppin. I went with a bunch of friends on a Friday night and it was soooooooo dead. I mean crickets were chirping. Yes we arrived early but when people finally did arrive, they were fuddy-duddies. The DJ was really bad and nobody seemed to be having fun.

I love the W Hotel because it is so swanky. But now I know that swanky can go too far when it prevents fun.

Whiskey Blue is the kind of place where you'd meet with a few friends, talk about a film idea, and walk out more relaxed than when you came in. It's definitely a good place to wind down or even preparty before heading out to somewhere more upbeat. I used to come to this place a lot during the latter part of my UCLA days, since it's located in the W Hotel, right next to the UCLA medical center (CHS) and Sorority Row. However, most of the people here are businessmen and hotel guests rather than UCLA undergraduate students. Most people are well dressed, and on an average night, be ready to spend at least $14 for a drink for cocktail. (Unless you come during happy hour, which I have yet to try and apparently, looks great!)

Feel free to get comfortable on any of the low-set couches/cushions and a good-looking server will come up to you within minutes to take your order. They have a DJ spinning on weekends, but I've never seen anyone dancing. Order a martini, cross your legs, and take in the cool ambiance.

Parking is a tough one (valet is expensive). If you're lucky, you can snag a meter spot that isn't running (if it's later in the night) on Le Conte Ave near the Ralphs shopping center.

In case you didn't know, Whiskey Blue is the lounge in the W Hotel in Westwood.

My friend who is a regular of lounges asked me to meet and to catch up on the happenings in our lives. Convo went like this:

Me: I'm at UCLA, where to meet?
Him: Lets me at a lounge.
Me: Um...how about Diddy Riese? http://www.yelp.com/biz/…
Him: That is a place to meet 13 year olds. We're grownups, how about Whiskey Blue?
Me: But I AM a 13 yr old...........whine

13 minutes later, I was giving myself a tour of Whiskey Blue while waiting for him. The space is designed to have an easygoing, sophisticated and grownup vibe where hotel patrons and guests can unwind and feel relaxed. There is also a private area with cabana bed furnishings, perfect for an intimate small gathering (although one would think the beds are a little suggestive).

When my friend finally arrived, we ordered champagne, sauvignon blanc and some sweet potato fries to snack on and gabbed away. The evening went on and I see more couples and groups come and go, the general crowd tends to be older, working professionals even though the location of W is right smack in the middle of school campus and near by dorms.

I wouldn't mind coming here once in a while and play pretend to be "grownups".

The non-profit I work for hosted an event at this place.
The venue is very classy, ample seating and very cozy atmosphere!
The happy hour menu was wonderful.
A huuuuge delicious pizza, sweet potato fries, for 7 dollars each?
Perfect!
We had a great time!

This is a very beautiful lounge bar. It's dim with a chic interior design including indoor cabana like beds to sit. The DJs play great music, and patio area is nice . It's definitely something different from the other Westwood bars like Brew Co or O'Hara's. It can get busy especially on weekends or during the parties. I've been here for Halloween, New Year's Eve, Akon and Lil Wayne's post-Grammy party, and just to have to drop by for a drink. I have had good times here and no complaints.

They have a great selection of alcohol, and they do mix my favorite cocktails well. The drinks are pricey, but going to the bar is about the experience. The Whiskey Blue provides something elegant and hip. The crowd can vary depending on the occasion. There may be some girls from sorority row or hip and good looking twenty and thirty-somethings. There is sometimes an older crowd who I assume are the hotel guests.

Nice place, but is rather quiet sometimes, even on a Friday night! I personally like going there with a small group for their happy hour drinks and appetizers. The pear-tini is soooo yummmyyyyyy and they make it only with vodka and champagne! The valet parking is discounted for happy hour as well. The ambiance is nice and classy. The service was good each time we've been there.

Overall, I like this place for hanging out with friends in Westwood. I just wish it was more vibrant and lively with more choices of food and drinks!

The girls and I came to the W after dinner. The vibe is chill. The bouncers didn't gave us any attitude. Once inside, I was surprised by the vastness of the lounge. The decor is trendy, modern, typical LA. It's nice that seats weren't reserved, but no one really danced. The music was okay. The DJ mixed tops 40s. The crowd was older, guessing early 30's+.

Date Rating: 8
Pick up Scale: 8

We had shots of kamikazes, lemon drop, and Irish bombs. Drinks were around $12-20.
Parking is not the greatest in this area. It's either street parking or valet. Valet is ridiculously expensive. We had to pay $20. We didn't park in the streets because it was raining.

This review is only for the Dexter season finale party that was hosted here.

(better late than never, right? right.)
So anyway, my 3 friends and i are pretty much unhealthily obsessed with Dexter (and if you aren't, then there's something wrong with you.) Since we missed the premier party, we made a pact that we would FOR SURE go to the finale party. All of us sent RSVP emails, but only my boyfriends' got approved. (probably because his name is Dylan McDermott.....shady.) Haha. So we arrived around 7:45 and were shocked to see a line of about 400 people or so. Shiiittt.
....until we realized that there was a separate "line" for people who RSVP'd . Aka, NO LINE. We walked right up, gave him our name, and were let in before everyone else and we got to enjoy free absolutely delicious hors d'oeuvre's. My favorite had to have been the fried mushroom ravioli and the citrus-mango ceviche. Very cool.

The place is very chic and tastefully decorated. Once the actors and crew from the show started pouring in, it got really crowded, fast. Once they started signing autographs and giving away free Dexter stuff, the place was absolutely packed. And before we knew it, there was like a 20 minute wait at the bar to get a drink because for some STUPID reason, they only had like 3 bartenders working a bar that can seat about 30 people at a time. One of my friends bought my friend and me a Newcastle and they were each $10+, hahaha. Ridiculous.

Despite how badly my feet were hurting, and the fact that i left with -$25 and only 2.5 drinks in my stomach, i had a blast and i would do it all over in a heartbeat if i could. :) Needless to say if they decide to have a Dexter season 6 premiere party here, i'll be there. I'm glad i got to meet John Lithgow and Julie Benz considering they definitely won't be at the next Dexter party :(. ::sniff sniff:: haha, just kidding.

If you're a Dexter fan and haven't been to a Dexter premiere/finale party, GET ON IT. Soo much fun. Oh, and not to mention, IT'S FREE. :)

I love this place.
Part of it was because it was walking distance from my apartment.
Great place for drinks and tapas. You can drink in the lounge or if you want it quieter you can hang in the Hotel lobby where there are huge sofas. Drinks are strong and the staff is good looking. The crowd is totally mixed which is nice. The music is OK but it does get crowded on the weekends. Oh and they drinks are stronger then most places but they are a little pricey then most places too. But you are paying for the venue. Fridays and Saturdays are crazy busy so come early.. maybe have dinner next door for easy entry. The food there is excellent!

*** Dexter .vs. Straight Eye for Queer Guy? ***

That's what I was thinking last nite here. (0_o)
See, there was an event for the SHO season
premiere of "Dexter" series showing @8pm.
However I thought the showing was @9pm.

As a result I arrive to find "Dexter" just ending.
Dammit, how could I have confused the time?

Well I ordered a shoot of fine vsop cognac to
ease my frustrations and chill a bit at the bar.
Mostly everyone had left except for a large
group of guys, and yes, they were friendly.

Clearly they knew that I was straight, but they
engaged me in a philosophical discussion of
what is the definition of success. Surprisingly
all of these guys equated success with $$$$$.
I politely pointed out that money is not success.
Rather money is comfort. Success is the state
of sustainable happiness. They all acted like
I had dropped a bomb on them or something.

Perhaps I did drop a bomb but it's all good
because Whiskey Blue pours a great drink.
So by the time I left, everyone was trying to
figure how to define sustainable happiness.
Yes, my job here is done ... time to go home
and find my happiness, a rerun of "Dexter". ;p

*** Nice atmosphere and a really cool bar. ***

What a freakin' awesome opener for the 4th season of DEXTER. My girlfriend and I just got back from the Dexter event here. So much fun. Was one of the 1st 15 to show up so won some awesome free swag - the 3rd season DVD of Dexter and a "I love Dexter" t-shirt. I gave the gf the t b/c it might seem a bit gay for me to wear it - not that there's anything wrong with that.

The bar has a cool vibe. A bit pricy. We ordered the chicken potstickers and the mini-burgers with fries. Both were delicious. And the drinks were really strong. I'm still a bit tipsy as I right this.

My only gripe is that this is the 2nd yelp movie/tv event I've been to where the aspect ratio was not right. What is up with that? We are in Hollywood/LA people. I could understand if we were in bumblefuck middle America, and people just didn't get it or understand.

How can I be the only one who notices the faces are stretched thinner than they are supposed to be because the freakin' aspect ratio isn't set right. The BIG LEBOWSKI event was the same way. If I was the Coen's or the producers of DEXTER, I would be pretty outraged my film/tv show was being shown in the wrong aspect ratio. With all the technology we have nowadays, how can there not be someone who can get this right. Jesus Christ, it can't be that difficult. At home I have a button called - shit, I can't remember right now - but it fixes the aspect ratio. And on my girlfriend's TV, it's called Zoom.

I told a waiter about it, and he said, yeah, I see what you mean. But he didn't do anything about it. Why not? Idiot. And the waitress said, "I don't even know what aspect ratio is." Why hire airheads as your waitresses? And you wonder why your tip was just a hair above 10%.

I've been told about these legendary sweet potato fries that are better than Father's Office. So I had to check it out for myself. They weren't. I'm not saying they were bad, they were actually pretty good, but just not as good. What was bad, however, was their margarita pizza. What do I mean by bad? I mean if I had a slice of pizza from ANYWHERE else, and it fell on the floor, and during rush hour a group of busy people stepped on it, I would still rather eat that piece than the pizza here. It's bad.

As I remembered, the prices were high and the service was cold.

I was with JS that one Saturday night, and it really was empty and kind of weird. Whiskey Blue has a LOT of potential with all the different spaces it has, but each time I've gone, it has an eery empty feeling. It didn't help that a bunch of tables in the lounge area were "reserved" all night. And a swanky pretentious looking couple across from us were making out the whole time. The outdoor patio is nice but kind of sad and neglected back there.

Happy hour food & drink prices, though, are awesome. The quality of food is great, down to the sliders, sweet potato fries, brie cheese. I think sitting at the bar, you get much better drinks and attention.

If the parking/valet situation were better, I might come here more often. They should put more effort into getting more people in here.

I'm not quite sure what to say about this place.

I am, for sure, not the "W" demographic (I am much more at home at a pub than a club), but it was still kind of a lot of hype and little delivery. A very attractive-looking bar tucked away on a small side-street of Westwood, and carrying the sultry reputation of the NY "W" Hotel, I thought I would find myself in a swanky but laid-back hotel bar, with excellent 4-star service, able to hear my friends and enjoy a nice lycheetini. But alas, it was what I should now know to be an LA-Standard: cheap looking women, creepy older men looking for dates, loud DJ music, overpriced drinks and and a valet price that can make you cry ($20!!!! + tip). Although, standing in line at the valet on my way home I did hear some pretty funny conversations. Name-dropping is truly an art form in LA.

The drinks were, from the two that I had, OK but not great. The mango mojito and the parisian rose were tasty but... I've had a lot better and paid much, much less (these two were $14 and up each). Didn't dare try to order any food.

The wait staff were sort of unprofessional and dressed like strippers, screwing up the bill more than once. They refused to let my friends' birthday guests in more than 2 at a time unless we paid $300 (per 4 persons) for bottle service... yeah eff-ing right. As a result, the birthday girl spent much of the night worried about her guests stuck outside in line.

I gave it a shot, mostly because it was a friends' birthday, but now I think I'll stay away from these LA staples. I would have thought it would be fun to get dressed up and have a drink at the famous Whiskey Blue but the vibe at this place is unappetizing and sort of just made me sad. Guess it's just not my style.

Very Hollywood, so dress to impress ladies and you will be taken care of.

"I am what I am and I be what I be"
Whiskey Blue defines what a hip lounge is. It covers all the bases with elegance and grace.

Stunning blue/white Decor - check
Young and hip cliental - check
Great ambience with trance and top 40s music - check
Fast and courteous service - check

Whiskey Blue is tucked in Westwood Village in the stunning W Hotel, away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood. One caveat; expect to pay for 8-11 for drinks. Oh, there is also an outdoor patio for smokers and a dining area. Get there before 11pm.

I just had my birthday here and got bottle service on a Friday. I actually found the bottle service to be very reasonable compared to any club in LA...starting at $300. We talked to Melissa to make arrangments for the night and she was very kind, helpful, and accomodating. Amber was our beautiful waitress and was very attentive. There were over 50 people that came and the security did not give anyone a big hassle. I've been here numerous times and have yet to have a bad time.

A dip in their pool and breakfast in the adjacent restaurant post partying is a definite must!!

Ok, so's we go to this place because a certain DJ was playing for the "Vinyl Vixens" night. They should have called it Sausage Fest night because that's what it was. Surprisingly though, not too douchey.

Anyway, I wanted to check out this DJ and see what the hype was ... still don't know .... but the bar is really nice. It's a nice clean bar. No food stains on the couches. Small outdoor patio for smokes which is handy. And I found the staff around the hotel to be really nice too.

The bartender was not cunty and served a decent drink. ALTHOUGH I did ask for a "nice refreshing lime-y vodka on ice" .... you'd know what I meant right?? .... and she gave me a vodka on the rocks with FIFTY FUCKING LIME WEDGES around the rim. Honey, I've heard of a rim job but this is ridiculous! THEN she goes, "would you also like some fresh lime juice?" and holds up a squeeze bottle. Uhrrrr ....

God bless her.

This bar looks like it would be the definition of a pretentious LA bar, what with its dimly lit ambiance, beautiful people and 4, count 'em, FOUR giant bouncers out front. But it isn't! It is a very well done bar and lounge with beautiful bartenders and a pretty decent selection of music.

We walked up to the giant bouncers up front and were initially told that since we weren't hotel guests they wouldn't help us. But just as we were about to leave, he asked us for our ID's and let us in! I had already been drinking and was too buzzed to make any sense of it all.

The drinks are expensive, but we expected that after having read the reviews on here, but the setting and the crowd more than makes up for it. The drinks also had pretty generous portions of alcohol in them. Even though we went on a Saturday night, this place was not as packed as I'd expect it to be. So we had a few drinks and realized that our broke-college-student-asses would be in financial trouble if we stayed any longer... and so we called it a night.

I've been working for UCLA for about three years now, and I've finally found an excuse to check out the W Hotel.

Being a Friday after work, I expected the bar to be packed. Well surprise! It didn't even open until 6! This somehow wasn't a problem as the lobby area outside Whiskey Blue is as cool as the bar itself, and bar servers were plentiful in the lobby.

Now usually I tend to avoid hot spots like the W due to an overwhelming air of typical LA douchebaggery; somehow the W pulls off swanky cool without the unfounded attitude. Perhaps it's because the crowd is a bit older and refined.

At any rate, the drinks were expensive--no surprise there...but really it doesn't really matter. Whiskey Blue, and the W in general are very aesthetically pleasing, and just that environment sets the tone for a fun evening. The five of us that congregated for happy hour seemed to most definitely accomplish the mission of unwinding after a long week. And perhaps the best part for me, was hanging out with the lovely, never dull, yet always notorious, Ericka Sparkles.

+3 stars for the coolness factor
-1 star for not opening before 6 pm
+2 stars for fostering a douchebag free environment

I can now say that I've been to the W on both coasts and this certainly wins points on the huge crazy lounge factor but New York Union Square Underbar wins on sheer pretention-but-once-you-get-inside-it's-cougar-hot-girl-heaven-no-college-people.

It being a Thursday night, i was surprised at how many undergrad and grads were here. The price range, as to be expected, is toward extreme expensive, but that doesn't seem to phase these people. They want to feel glamorous. And they should, it's a massive lounge kind of crappily designed into a club, which is why if you're looking for low key hotel bar women hunting, it's not that kind of place.

There was no line here, but that's probably because it was thursday night. It was packed though, almost felt like a high school dance, where people actually had to walk from point A to B because it's so big and girls giggle and move in duos or threesomes and guys just stand there and smile and look stupid/dumbfounded. Everyone is dressed as good as college/post college crowd can get; I was lucky to walk in with sneaks.
From my vacation, I consider this, among a couple other places I went, as a more definitive LA scene. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think the women could be any more attractive (I'm glad we skipped the weekend crowd on the strip, I haven't seen more people fall down outside clubs ever), and the energy any more intense. Yes it all seems fake, but it's fascinating.

I've been hitting this place since it was just the bar at the W and not Whiskey Blue, which I think is sort of a lame moniker. A lot has changed, including the decor and the food, but the one thing that's stayed the same is the hot, skinny waitresses.

A group of us celebrated a birthday and a welcome back (for a friend who never actually left, long story) on Friday. We met up here because it's our old stomping grounds and most of the party people work at UCLA.

We were ghetto enough to bring our own giant cake and they were cool with that. We took essentially every cocktail table in a 25-foot radius and they were cool with that. We split the $$$$ check on half a dozen credit cards and they were cool with that. Honestly, for a place that is supposed to be upscale and pretentious, they let us get away with being low-class drunks. Awesome!

I didn't see anyone famous this time, but this used to be a hot place to see stars. Our group has seen Kevin Spacey, Marisa Tomei, and my boyfriend George Clooney there at various times.

I have to say it was a lot better before, but that's probably because a friend had a government account there and since he never paid for a room, he always paid for drinks. This particular visit may in fact have been the first time I ever paid for anything at the bar.

Parking is ridiculously expensive (it's actually $20 to valet on a Friday night) but there's a $6 lot one block south on Weyburn and Hilgard.

Nothing says pretentious and showy like the W Hotel - Westwood's Whiskey Blue Lounge/Bar. It's a great little place that makes you feel kind of pathetic and poor, since the drinks are New York priced (12-15 bucks for a mixed drink off the menu) and the decor makes you wish you could camp out there and stay forever. I went for a pharma sponsored happy hour, and we basically made the menu our bitch--we were ordering 5 of each drink and 5 of each appetizer every time the waitress came by. Needless to say, our bill came out to 1200 bucks. So if that's any warning, come prepared to shell out some cash if you want to get your buzz on. Beautiful people, beautiful food and drinks, but ugly looking prices.

Oh, which reminds me. NEVER valet there. It's outrageous--14 bucks...for that price, I expect a car wash, wax, and vacuum!
