This is our go to spot in the neighborhood! The ambience makes this a perfect place to meet up with some friends or an intimate dinner. The wine selection is great and the food is delicious! My favorite is the cheese and meat plate and the meatball crostini is amazing! The staff is just as great as the food, so welcoming and friendly!

This was pretty much a perfect wine-bar dinner experience. Good Valpolicella by the glass. Great crostini. Every component of the grilled calamari with spinach and white beans was cooked perfectly, and the mushroom risotto had a wonderful three-dimensional mushroominess that I don't think I could replicate at home. In the context of the UWS, this was probably a five-star meal (given that it wasn't crazily expensive), but I feel like giving it five stars would slight some downtown places I've given fewer stars to (one's expectations are higher down there ...).

If you like Italians, wine and sitting outside, this is the place to go in the UWS.

So sweet, this place. I've never been disappointed. When you walk in, the owner/manager/gentleman/whoeverheis always greets you like an old friend, puts a wine glass in your hand, and asks what you like to drink. Then he brings over a bottle and pours generously. All this even before you are seated. Holy crap, I really like that. I only bring my special friends here, and if they embarrass me, they don't get a second chance. Try the ricotta on toast with honey.

I love this place!  I definitely need to spend more time on the UWS, and this was one of those types of places that encourage I explore up here more often.  We popped in for some late night wine and food and were beyond satisfied.  The food was so fresh and clean tasting and the vibe was romantic and SO cozy.  We only left because it started to become hard to keep our eyes open after our evening....but it definitely made you feel like you could stay all night (and morning) long.

Came her after a horrible experience at Bocca Di Bacco.   Thank goodness my Fiance recommended it !  Great Food and Wine. We enjoyed the Veal Meat Balls and Calamari - done properly and cooked to perfection. Also, the crostini's were all very tasty - expecially the shrimp with artichoke and Proscuitto w buffalo mozzarella.   We tried 4 different wines with the Nero Davola being my favorite. Lines can get long, but well worth the wait on a Summer Saturday night in NYC. Loved it. Only negative was that one of the wines was a bit oxidized ( probably b/c it's the priciest on the menu). Overall - Highly recommended !

I LOVE Barcibo! Come here about twice a month. Some of the best pepperoni stromboli in the neighborhood. Try the garlic knots, they are to die for! Prices a little high but worth every penny

My favorite wine bar in the neighborhood! Delicious wines and Prosecco plus great cheeses and entrees. Their beet salad is really great too.

Highly recommend this place! The ambiance is nice, warm and inviting. Love it!

Such a great place! Good food, good wine, good environment!  One of my favorite spots in the neighborhood!  Have to try the see-food salad and the grilled squid salad with spinach and beans!!!

Excellent choice for an Italian bar with delicious food.
Totally by accident, stumbled into this place for a quick drink and in all honesty, didn't want to leave :)
The hostess/waitress with her heavy Italian accent was really fun and did I say..Ohhh so Italian!
The wine selection was great as is the list of cocktails but what blew me away is that for a wine bar, the food was really awesome..so awesome, that over the next 2 weeks, we returned here 3 times :)
The crositinis are fantastic..the large freshly grilled baguette slices are topped with several options of: burrata with roasted tomato, goat cheese with sweet peppers, baccalao with white beans, lemony shrimps with artichoke as well as 2 meat options. We tried all of the non-meat options are they were all delicious!
The grilled octopus with spinach and white beans was also quite good.

This might be one of our favorite spots now in the neighborhood.

I have been here now a few times. This is a great place for a date or a get together with a friend. The pinot noir I had was absolutely perfect, along with the crostinis and risotti. The prices are reasonable and the service was good. I definitely recommend this place.

Great service (thank you, Anthony) and delicious cocktails in a warm, cozy atmosphere. If I lived anywhere near this place I'd be a regular. Definitely a gem in the UWS. I should say that we didn't eat here so I can't speak to the deliciousness of the food.

Great ambience, nice selection of wines, food is pretty yummy too. A few food highlights: crostini, mushroom risotto, tiramisu. Oh man, their tiramisu. It's deconstructed and comes in pieces: Ladyfingers, cream, and espresso are all separate on the dish, so you can have your tiramisu with your preference of proportions. I would come back just for a glass of wine and an order of their tiramisu.

A bit pricey, but it shouldn't be a surprise -- it is a wine bar on the Upper West Side, after all.

Definitely my favorite wine bar on the UWS. I love this place -- it couldn't be more perfect for a casual date night. The wines are always delicious and the meat and cheese plate is lovely!

The staff is also super attentive and knowledgable.

Before I forget to mention this, they have coat hooks in almost every conceivable place in this bar. Finally. It's not that hard, people running every other bar in New York City.

If you know your wine, you'll find something good; if you don't, you won't care and you'll love the casual, upscale, trendy ambiance. The servers seem unreasonably pleased to have you there and the host has put his hands on both girls I met there - not in a threatening way, more in a way that made me think he was either gay, or thrilled to have our business, or both. If you're looking for a potential date spot, you'll love the fact that it isn't loud and the crowd is well spaced, and the girl will think you make more money than you probably do and put more thought into this than you probably did. It's a winner.

One small drawback: if you're sitting at one of their higher tables that requires a stool, I hope you're over six feet tall. I'm 5'11" and I felt like I was in Honey I Shrunk the Kids. And of course my date was 5'8" so she probably thought I'd lied about my height. Oh well. Go there anyway.

What a wonderful gem in the neighborhood!

Had a solo dinner here on Sunday.  (I need more friends in my area!)  First, my server, Sarah (pronounced like Zara) was fantastic.  I don't drink a lot of Italian wines, so she asked me what I normally drank and what I was looking for, and had me taste four wines until I found one that I liked.  In case you're wondering, it was the Teroldego.  $14.

For food I had the three crostinis for $16.  Each crostini is one piece so they probably aren't great for sharing.  I had the shrimp and artichoke, the soppressata (salami) with honey, and the ricotta with sweet peppers.  They were all yummy, and even better with a drizzle of olive oil!

At the end of the night Sarah had to run, so Brooke took over.  Brooke was also incredibly nice!  She kept topping off my glass, letting me finish the bottle since they were closing.  Score!  The only thing that wasn't great was that (as other Yelpers mentioned) the table is way higher than the chairs.  I felt like I needed to sit on my leg or get a booster chair in order to be in control of my stuff on the table.

The prices are a little more than I'd normally pay for a regular place, especially if I'm grabbing food alone.  But I really liked it here and I plan to come back again very soon!

Stopped in on a Saturday night and it was pretty packed but it was worth the 20 minute wait to be seated. I ordered the prosciutto panini, which I thought was delicious and the citrus-y side salad was super tasty too. A bit on the pricier side, but I feel like you get what you pay for here. Waitresses were also very friendly and attentive.

This is def a date night spot. There's an outdoor and indoor space but neither are quite big. Theres a large wine selection and the staff can help you out if you need a suggestion. Very friendly.

On my last visit, I got to taste the:
    - meat and cheese plate (great;  know what youre going to get with this)
    - ricotta crostinis (a large serving but a one piece order)
    - calamari (not worth the money but the spinach it  laid upon was incredible)
    - meatballs (delish! and a nice portion size)

Overall, its a very cute place but overpriced.

Great place to sit outside on the UWS for a quick bite to eat and a glass of vino with a friend in from out of town.

We had a great glass of vermentino,  the mixed olives, the beet and arugula salad with green apple and fennel and the pulpo, calamari and shrimp salad. the octopus/calamari/shrimp salad was excellent.   would definitely get it again.

have been before a couple of times for a drink or two and have sat inside.  tonight was a beautiful night so we sat outside.  a little loud as the bus stop is basically in front of the restaurant, but otherwise good people watching.

Pros: Great wine list and food is very good.
Cons: Very loud inside when it gets crowded and they can use some more servers. Also, the tables' height is much taller than the chairs which makes the entire experience a bit uncomfortable and odd. The red plastic chairs outside need to go as well.

I love my neighborhood but lately I've been frustrated sometimes with the lack of places to grab a good beer or a glass of wine in the UWS. I find myself going to other neighborhoods for drinks but luckily it's places like this that keep me satisfied.

I love the fact that you have your choice of sitting outside, sitting at the bar, standing at the bar tables or sitting out back upstairs. I need options and this place delivers. It's great for a date, catching up with friends, pre-concert drink / meal and grabbing a drink at the bar after a long day at work.

For a wine bar, this place has some good quality beers (unfortunately none on draft but it's a wine bar so can't complain). Serving Left Hand Milk Stout from Colorado definitely is a nice touch for a place like this.

Like it's sister bar (Bin 71) this place offers quite the extensive selection of wine for it's size. You are sure to find something to your liking here on the menu (mostly if not all Italian wines, just an fyi). As much as I like outdoor seating, nothing beats chatting it up at the bar / inside. This place is pretty social and cozy but not obnoxiously intrusive nor stuck up like other wine bars. The friendly owners/staff definitely set the vibe for this place and it definitely shows.

I recently stumbled upon this place on my way home. I've walked by it several times but had never stopped. Well, I am certainly glad I finally did! Every girl needs a spot like this in her hood!

This wine bar itself is tiny, but makes good use of its space. Most every time I walk by it is full. They have a great wine selection (as a wine bar should) and everyone is very friendly as well. They offer meat and cheese plates as well as a full menu.

This is a great spot to come on a date, pop in with a girlfriend, or even grab a seat solo here at the bar. Most recently I grabbed a night cap here after my "worst date of my entire life" (see my Cafe Lalo review for more details on that tragedy...) and the lovely bartender not only listened to my sob story but she also hooked me up with a glass of rose on the house! Talk about turning lemons - or sour grapes - into lemonade.

    Adorable little place!

Had lunch here and everything was fabulous. The wine was great, service was attentive, and the food was delicious. The owner came over to talk, and invited us back and gave us a history of the place, which made us feel very welcome.

Prices were reasonable, but the place is small, so I would not come here with a big group.

I had dinner here last Friday night and fell in love - with the restaurant that is!

It was very busy but only took a few minutes for us to be seated. The decor was great as was the music (sexy R&B).

The waiter and waitresses were donned in jeans (the waiter) and sundresses (the waitresses) which made the place seem more relaxed.

My friend who I was having dinner with had been to the restaurant several times so I let her order for us and was not disappointed.

Drinks: I had a glass of moscato. I love anything sweet.

Food: we shared a cheese plate, various crostini's (Proscuitto, imported buffalo mozzarella and pesto; Burrata, oven roasted tomato and basil; and Soppressata, gorgonzola and honey), and and entree of prawns with veggies. Amazing! The prawns with veggies were cooked in a garlicky buttery sauce that was to die for.

I have to come back to this place to try everything on the menu!

    Cheers

Cozy, tight space with an excellent food and Italian wines. I've been here 2x and had the following:

Baked veal meatball crostini with tomato and fontina - the meat ball is soft and moist and meaty. A hearty small dish.

Panini with Portobello, pancetta, spinach, sun-dried tomato and pecorino - the paninis are excellent and come with a side of salad.  The bread is to die for.

Marinated pulpo (octopus) and calamari salad - reminded me of Venetian cuisine, if you like octopus salad, go for it. Yum!

Various crostinis - I recommend the hHoney, soppressata, and cheese = incredible combination of flavors.

All of the food is excellent bar food -- this is not pastas or other traditional full restaurant dishes.  Though some of their food presentations are not meant to be shared, I usually order several plates and share them with whoever I'm with. It's the closest to cichetti (Italian tapas) that I've found on the upper west side.

Great wine selections top this off as well.

Very cozy little restaurant. It consisted of dim mood lighting, with great background music; although I am a bit biased since I'm a fan of alternative rock. I suppose it gets very crowded during the weekends but our host was very helpful and constantly checked up on us as we were waiting in line. I'm going to say that this is a wine bar since they had a large selection of wines. The food was excellent and service was great; only downfall is that the kitchen does not seem to know how to function during a full house because it took forever for me to receive one of my orders!

Our host and waitress were very delightful, I especially liked how the host was constantly in contact and servicing the customers waiting for a table. Our waitress was also nice too.

We sat at the bar in the upstairs portion of the restaurant that overlooked the kitchen. It was a nice layout, and although the restaurant was a bit small, it emitted a coziness about it.

The food was excellent, I had the Prosciutto and Bacala crostinis. They were both delicious!! The chicken panini with its salad on the side was also done very well. The only problem was that I had ordered a panini half way through our meal, it took around 30 minutes for the chefs to make my dish! Also, for those of you who are germaphobic out there, the chef was not wearing any gloves while operating the kitchen. It didn't bother me too much, but my friend who is currently attending the CIA pointed out that it was against the state regulations. I'm sure his hands were clean though. Overall the food and the experience was excellent!

Note: If you LOVE dessert wines, this is the place to go!

This is a great place to go on a date or gather with friends for wine and Italian small plates. I can see why this is a popular place. The dimly lit space is intimate enough to enjoy the ambiance and hear your guests but also not too proud to have a large TV by the bar- gotta squeeze in the SEC football! The staff was very accommodating and so was the sweet bartender- should have gotten her name.

Our favorite Crostinis! We enjoyed the (1) soppreseta, Gorgonzola  & honey, (2) the burata, roasted tomato and  basil & (3) the prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella and pesto.  The risotto was perfect to split:  creamy but not too heavy with grilled sausage, pecorino, peas, artichokes and sweet corn. Nice, crisp Chardonnay - the only onplacer he menu. I will definitely come back next time I'm on the uws!

I live Upper East, so I don't venture this way too often. However, I've been to Barcibo Enoteca twice and both times it was outstanding. The first was just to meet a couple of friends for a couple of glasses of wine. For a "little" place, it was a pretty extensive and solid wine selection.

The second time was this past weekend. A friend was celebrating her birthday, so not only we were tasting some wines, but I also had a chance to get in on the menu. They kept coming with a couple selections of the crostinis and paninis, and I couldn't find one thing wrong with them. Great flavor to them all, fresh meats and cheeses used and just the right size.

My only knock, and this I'm sure is just a personal preference, is I don't like how the front room sets up. It gets cramped in a weird way, so it could get a little uncomfortable.

Good lord. I have been here FOUR times in search of the intimate, classy experience that has been described. Instead, I feel as though I've stepped into an alternate universe where everything is cramped (note: NOT cozy), people are rude, and wine has become exponentially more expensive than it has ever been. It's always crowded - I've tried daylight hours, evening, weekdays and weekends - and you get shoved around like a well-dressed person on a subway.

The bar itself feels like it should be roomy enough for everyone, but there's typically no room at the bar (hello, you're a WINE BAR!), and if there's no space to sit/stand, you're asked to wait in a corner. Literally. As in, a crevice between two walls. You could stand outside, but then you lose your place in the unofficial line. The pours are not generous, and a glass of wine will cost you up to $23. I also don't see the intimacy in a place that offers no personal space between you, your friend, and the older-couple-who-are-sucking-face-next-to-you.

Don't shove Baby in a corner only to serve her an overpriced, under-filled glass of wine one hour after she arrived. Puh-lease.

I can't believe I've lived around the corner from Barcibo Enoteca for almost a year and last night was the first time I ventured in.  I've missed out for a year....now I must make up for lost time.

The wine list and ambiance are great.  For a Thursday night, it was crowded, but just crowded enough to enjoy the lively atmosphere, while at the same time not being mushed up against our neighbors.

The food looked good.  I will have to try on my next trip.

I love this cozy, strictly Italian vino bar.  I mean cozy because is like a matchbook-size, but with great selection of wines, and all can be paired with some great Italian nibbles.

The crow could be a more attractive one, but who cares.  It's great if you want to catch up and have a conversation while having a drink or taste.

From the few wine places I've been on this area; this is the best one so far.  If you ask me why, it's probably personal taste, and about the experiences I had.

I've be here two or three times but never stopped to write a review, so after last nights visit I figured it was time.

What kind of people come to Barcibo...here are just a few of the couples you'll find hiding out in the rather romantic atmosphere here:

In corner number one, there's the couple meeting face-to-face for the first time after connecting on <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fmatch.com&s=5a7ad17eb3943c81dac85ae79b9c0c050694769f0de09ef7d94e7ed56fd99c4f" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://match.com</a> (I mean, not that I would know about that personally...Just sayin'...). He's browsing the extensive wine list, trying to impress by his vast knowledge of wines. (And failing, I might add.)

In corner number two, there's a married man with his much younger 'friend' sitting just a little too closely, and subtly but shamelessly flirting her while sharing a fantastic panini sandwich full of flavor and perfectly prepared. I'm sure she's just putting up with creepy old married guy flirting because she really wants to eat and drink here, and can't afford it on her college student budget.

In the third corner - I don't know what there deal is, but they are really comfortable with each other. That, or the bottle of fine Italian wine from the expansive wine list, combined with the romantic atmosphere, has gone to their heads and aroused amore. Yes it's a little disgusting in public, but I just...can't...turn...away...did she just?...

Ok, ok, back to the review. A good spot to hit up before or after a night out to maybe, Lincoln Center, or even shows in mid-town, assuming you live on the UWS.

The wine list is very solid, and prices are very much in line with other places of this type. I had a panini which was really tasty and well prepared. Other food items I've tried have also always been well done.

My one complaint from this visit was how hot it was inside. Granted we're in between seasons, so when the air is on it can get too cold, but they definitely went to the extreme of not having it on at all (or it was broken) and thus very hot in there. I guess we should have opted for the outside seating, but it was a little too chilly out. Picky, aren't we?!

Be warned, it can get crowded at peak times.

Quick! The family's in from out of town, and you've just seen a very entertaining ballet (thanks ABT) at the Met! You're in the area and the aunt from Indiana wants to go out. It's Friday night. What do you do?

Why, start looking frantically through the Yelp app on the HTC Incredible for a "lower key" wine bar that still seems to be highly rated AND not too pricey. Wait a second...could it be? Why yes! There's a highly rated wine bar about 10 blocks away that we can walk to, and yes, it even looks like it's moderately priced!

Fast forward 10 blocks and a couple minutes later, and the four of us were all sitting at a booth in the corner ordering a $36 bottle of Prosecco. The ambiance is lovely, the bridge and tunnel group are not too loud/obnoxious, and the nice staff have popped the cork and provided the ice to keep the wine cool. They even come back to refill the glasses that get perilously close to half full.

Love this place. Will definitely have to come back!

A charming, hidden spot on the Upper West Side.  I love the vibe here - it's upscale chic without being pretentious.  I'd imagine it'd be a nice place to come right after work with a small group of your girlfriends.  It's dimly lit with most of the lighting coming from candlelight.

I met up with my NYC friend here around 8pm on a Friday night and we were seated within 10 minutes even though the place was pretty full.  The manager was warm and welcoming, ushering us in gently and making light conversation while we waited for a table.  We ordered 2 glasses of red wine and a combo platter of meats & cheeses.  We asked the waitress what reds she suggested, and she asked us what types of flavors we liked.  My friend preferred spicy and dry, I preferred smooth with oak undertones.  The glasses that came back to us were PER-FEC-TION.

She knew exactly which wines we would like based on our brief descriptions and nailed the flavors we sought dead on.  The meats and cheeses that accompanied the wine were perfect as well.  Mmmm what a wonderful, unexpected experience as neither of us had ever been here before, and it isn't one of those typical "tourist" spots you'd normally go to while in NYC.

My only complaint is that the space is rather small.

It's so easy to walk by and not notice. As with most things in life, it's far simpler to continue oblivious and unaware than it is to perceive a more demure splendor. To have passed Barcibo Enoteca without a second thought would have been a shame. The scaffolding obscures the entrance from view and the softly lit intimate interior catches the eye of only one looking specifically for this enoteca.

On first entrance, the motiff appeared as if inspired by a single golden incandescent sparkle. White marbled tables stood on high pillared legs made of a deep dark wood. Golden varnished wood lined the bar on both the recessed level and upper level and the stairway that connected the two.

The wine list was extensive and impressive. A whiff of an aperitif and the sparkle of candlelight dancing amongst the wine glasses. Ah wine is served. My first was a Nebbiolo from d'Alba. An Italian. The d'Alba possessed a dark ruby core that licked the very lips of the wine. Clean and reminiscent of cherries. The second was a forgettable Rose'. I forget the specifics. As accompaniment, a plate of sliced cheeses and cured meats was called to order. I tasted a bit of soft brie, a piece of crunchy bread, and a touch of fig(?) marmalade, to which I found very pleasing.

We went to Barcibo Enoteca as a celebratory cap to Steve M's Mozart's Requiem concert at Jazz at the Lincoln Center (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/jazz-at-lincoln-center-new-york-2#hrid:_pgYrUMyyuz74LwlcfEKpg">http://www.yelp.com/biz/…</a>). A wonderful end to a sonorous melodious night.

It's so easy to miss this place as you're walking down the street. It's frontage is small; the place is sandwiched between a shoe store and another restaurant. Casual passersby might think that Barcibo is part of the other restaurant, but it's not.

I had been here once before under trying circumstances. Suffice to say, the first time I had been here, the company that I was with, were to be blunt, immature and nasty. I ended up walking out and wasn't able to enjoy myself, the decor, the food, in short, anything about the place.

Over this past weekend, while wandering around the UWS with a friend, whiling away time before we had to go to a party, we went to Barcibo for a glass of wine.

It's always a good idea to exorcise ghosts with much better company.
The first floor is tiny; there's a small rectangular bar, a few window seats and scattered tables. On the second floor is another bar where you can sit perched on a stool and watch the chefs at work. Be warned, they keep an open jar of Nutella on their back counter...it's tempting to reach over and snag it.

There are a few tables on the second floor; since there isn't a  lot of room up here, you end up sitting cheek by jowl. If you can handle the proximity of other people and their conversations, then you should be fine.

    S. ordered a glass of Lambrusco, I had a glass of Pinot Grigio; respectively $12 and $9 per glass, pretty reasonable prices for a large glass of wine.

For dinner, S. ordered the vegetable risottos, one bite and she exclaimed, "heaven on a plate." I had the chicken panini, melted fontina cheese, prosciutto and tasty bread. A bit greasy, but incredibly flavorful.

It's a petite, in every sense of the word, place whose menu  has delightful dishes that they will customize to any dietary restrictions. The wine list is good, and if you're a fan of Italian wines, like I am, you'll have a fine time.

It's true what they say about companions; they can enhance or destroy an experience.  I am so glad that I went back to Barcibo with a delightful friend, the laughter drowned out the previous experience and I won't have any hesitation about going back there again.

Great wine bar on the UWS.  It's small, it's cozy, and even though it can often be crowded, the people are really polite, and no one's about to throw some 'bows to get a spot.

They have bottles starting in the $30 range and go up to, well, I didn't bother looking because once the bottles start costing more than $50, I don't pay attention.

If I had to rank the UWS wine bars that I know of, Barcibo would be either 1, or 2.  Actually, let me go ahead and make that list.

    1.  Barcibo Enoteca (a little fancier)
    2.  Arte Around the Corner (a little more casual)
    3.  Wine and Roses (nice, though people will throw 'bows here)
    4.  Bin 71 (cramped, not cozy)

This was a cute cozy place. We got there just as they were opening yesterday and were quite pleased. The wines listed were different (I thought) than the norm. The list by the glass was decent and the pours were good as well.

The food selection looked (and smelled!) great, but we were only there to taste so I did not partake. We met the owner, who was very nice and attentive - a definite plus. Would like to come back here to sample more of what they have to offer, for sure.

    This place is great.

Nice selection of wines, friendly laidback staff, and good food. I didn't even see the menu, and didn't contribute much to what we were having.
Had two or three different crostini's, which were very good: The veal meatball is great, the gorgonzola and honey and meat is also outstanding.  A third one with prosciutto and mozzarella fine, but wish we had less crostini. Too much break and cheese.
The mushroom risotto was OK, but oddly bland. The rice just sat there without much to it.
Had a delightful salad of fennel, more mozzarella and beefsteak tomato---very good, but invisible-tasting firm tomato.

Great vibe in the mulit-level rooms. Lots of attractive people.
    Look forward to going back.
