Best lobster roll and new england clam chowder around. Excellent service, friendly wait staff and nice atmosphere!

Good selection of beer on tap and that is it. Tried the new England clam chowder and it failed miserably (spicy, too many potatoes a little clam). Apple-spinach salad was just okay. So go there for drinks and forgery about food.

Really helpful and friendly waitress.  The 1$ oysters are great.  The other food like French dip and clam chowder are pretty good.  But the real star of the show is the lobster roll with a side of potato salad.  Simply awesome tasting.

had lunch, Food was not bad, I would come back for the food, had 1 Drink, Manhattan 14.00... This is why I don't eat out downton, that was not worth the price, it was barely mixed. Server was very nice and efficient, atmosphere was generic Irish pub, but very clean

Had a great time here over St. Patrick's weekend. NO LINE! good drinks, prices not too bad, met some great people - even for St. Paddy's there wasn't a lot of riffraff. Pretty spacious and had live music

Had great chicken tenders (me) and tilapia wrap (wife). My only knock on the place was, it took waaaaaaay too long to get the food. We were getting close to walking out at one point. If they could fix that, I would make it a regular gig.

Happened in here for lunch the day after St. Patrick's Day. It was slow and quiet - and the sign outside for $1.00 oysters lured me in.
Sadly, I had to be at work soon, so I couldn't enjoy anything I really wanted to drink - but the iced tea was acceptable.
I ordered a half dozen oysters and a bowl of chili. My coworker ordered potato skins.

The oysters were fresh and tasty - but smaller than I was expecting. (I have been spoiled by Gulf oysters and their big meaty goodness!) The flavor was superb though. I was quite shocked (in a good way) that from 2-6 (when I was there) - my little bivalve buddies are only $0.50!! Yes - I had a half dozen fresh yummy little pearl makers for just 3 bucks!

The chili was fine - no kick, but good flavors. The potato skins looked to be on par with any typical Irish pub skins.

    Did I mention $0.50 oysters?

Went there for St. Patricks Day to avoid the Southie crowds and obnoxious 19 and 20 year olds who flock there with their Keystones in brown paper bags. Been there a couple times before.

Excellent bar staff and the best poured Guinness in Boston (They even have a trophy that I can attest to). Live music throughout most of the day. The food was superb and came out quick. The bartenders were on their game and never had an empty glass in front of me. They were very nice as well. Bruins were playing on their array of HDTVs hung on every face of the wall and the atmosphere was ideal as usual.

The owners are excellent people and they will make sure that you are satisfied while you are there. Will return soon.

Okay, this is seriously your number ONE spot to stop in the financial district or the downtown area in general, if you like any or all of the following...

    1. Impeccable customer service (Rosie and Jackie in particular are two of the most helpful and knowledgable servers I have ever had in this area)
    2. Great drinks at very fair prices
    3. Oysters on the half shell for just a dollar!
    4. The greatest lobster roll I've had anywhere through all of my travles..
    5. Live music starting wednesdays around 7 pm and all throughout the weekend.
    6. Sunday Brunch with some killer bloody mary's
    7. A very nice lunch spot for anyone working in the area to stop in on their break (fast service)

Overall, I can not say enough positive things about this bar. It is lively yet not too overwhelming crowd-wise, and everyone I've taken here has loved our meals and drinks.  This place was very very pleasing and I would reccommend it to anyone in the Boston area looking for a good time.

*Tip : If you happen to be in on a weekend night and Kevin is behind the bar, he makes THE BEST washington apple shots known to man.

    :)

The place was super busy at 1 pm today (Friday).  I guess, everyone wanted to go out for lunch - TGIF!

My coworker and I didn't actually get to dine-in because our food took a while.  Our meal was comp'd because it took 40 minutes; and, we had to get back to the office.  We really didn't expect that . (Thank you!)

Our sandwiches (fish sandwich with sweet potato fries; chicken parm with regular fries) were pretty good.  We would definitely be back.

Definitely lost what little Irish street cred I had by walking into this place and ordering a Caesar salad and Bud Light. Geez, I feel dirty. Thankfully, everyone was too busy listening to a guy play acoustic versions of Coldplay to notice.

The place isn't big so any type of live music will be probably be blaring right in your ear. I can't complain, however, as it was free entertainment with dinner. The prices were reasonable and the wait stuff was nice and I enjoyed listening to their Irish accents (the small things in life).

If I'm ever in Boston, I'll try to make my way back here and buy a Guiness as penance for my original bourgeoisie beer ordering choice.

relaxed place, though can get a little loud.  tremendous service with strong pours.  food is above average with the lobster roll being my preference.  well lit & perfectly decorated for Christmas (even a tree).  walk into the main bar area with high tables and a few lower eating tables along the side windows.  windows looking to broad street near the entrance & the side windows that overlook franklin.  dark wooden floor is above 2-3 feet about the street, creating a more social feeling.  red walls compliment the social feeling.  overall well lit, but not lighted.  just good mood lighting.  bar overhang & upper walls contain hdtvs.

the bar is in the south corner.  with the seating lines, it has a wooden bar top with classic rail.  intermittent support columns divide up the bar.  the bar back is nothing special containing mostly liquor bottles that hide mirrors.  hdtvs in the corners.  boxed wooden foot rail.  bartenders are helpful and will make sure you glass is filled.  don't recall her name, but loved the girl with marilyn tattoos.

easy, fun bar that is very social & comfortable.

Not super memorable, like, I honestly doubt I could even find this place again if I tried.

But the staff is friendly. The beers are beery. The food is a good hot sauce delivery vehicle.

They have lots of TVs for sport-watchin'.

I ate a sandwich and liked it. I ATE A SANDWICH AND LIKED IT.

Yeah, I don't know what else to say.

Barney Fannings is fantastic!!  Well lit, clean, festive and hospitable, and our server (A tiny little Irish lass) was great.  Kevin, the owner, came over to say hello.
The food was what was really great though.  We had the best Nachos I've ever had.  My friend lives for Nachos and she said the same thing.  And the sweet potato fries... to die for!
We danced all night long to a live band that played eclectic music, and would take requests.
Great times!  Definitely go on by!

Me and my friend where starving at 10pm and wanted to eat. This place serves food till midnight so we went in. Food was GrEAT!! Service wasn't bad the only thing that made me go it 3 stars was the dj. He played the weirdest array of music? It went from rap to pop to dance all in a row. He played the same songs over again. Isn't that a no no? AND some songs he didn't let finish he stop them early! That was the worst part! I started dancing to a good song and then it was over?
Would I go back... No unless I was hungry at 10 on trying to get into another bar..

This place is great! I went here with my parents to try it out.  We split the nachos which were some of the best nachos Ive had in the city (and I like to fancy myself a nacho connoisseur of sorts).  I tried the hot pastrami sandwich which was excellent, my dad said the italian sub rivaled that of any place in the north end, and my mom loved the clam chowder.  The drinks were great too! We asked the bartender to come up with something good and she did not dissapoint. I don't know exactly what she made but it was a hit with all of us.  I would definitly go here again!

Finally, a place in the downtown area where I can get GREAT WINGS !!
I had heard about the change in ownership so I decided to check it out. It was 10pm on a Tuesday so I was going for a light bite. I am always on the lookout for a wing fix. I have many areas covered and I was not expecting the wings to be the highlight of my visit, I was pleasantly surprised. Presentation was excellent, carrots and celery plentiful, blue cheese for those who use it . (I am in the minority that believes blue cheese kills the flavor and dilutes my hot wing experience). Service was friendly and spot on. Loved the music too !! Expect great things from Barney Fanning's.

I went to Barney Fannings last night with my fiancee and it was great. We were pleasantly greeted by a handsome bartender and a really nice guy working the tables. The place had a great after work crowd and lots of people eating. We sat at the bar and ordered the spinach and artichoke dip for starters, lots of thick chunky artichokes it was delicious. I had the tuna melt and my better half had the chicken parm and it was HUGE, now he can eat but he had more than enough for another meal today. (Thats what he got to bring for lunch today) It has a nice relaxing feel to the bar, with good music playing in the background and tv showing all differents sports. Bartender was very attentive and he was more than helpful.
I will def be back to this bar to try something else on the menu and im sure it will be as good as what we got last night.
Exactly what the financial area needs is more good bars and this is def a 5 star bar.
Good luck to the new management and so far i can see your all doing an great job
