Hey, i really liked this place!
I never heard of it before i went there, so I'm not sure what happened in the past. But i had a fantastic hamburger which was really inexpensive ($6) and upgraded for $1 to sweet potato fries (major yum!). The service was great, and it was comfortable inside (not freakishly loud like in many popular establishments). I don't find myself in Northside frequently, but if I'm there again at dinner time, this will definitely be a place to go!
My friend wanted to go to The Boswell because she was excited it had reopened. The place is nice and welcoming. The staff were pleasant and helpful and one of the owners came around to ask if things were okay. The beer selection is good with a nice mix of local/regional beers on tap. The food was a bit of a letdown. I ordered the special, fish and chips. The fish was....odd. It was two pieces of fish, good sized, but coated in a very heavy batter. Think "corndog". The fries were a standard restaurant supply fry. my friend got the Hot Brown, a sandwich served open faced with turkey, tomato, cheese, and bacon, covered in a curry-tinged gravy. It was not bad and certainly more flavorful than my fish and chips.
Overall, the Boswell seems like a place still trying to work out the kinks. There were several families in there so it seems like the neighborhood wants a place like this to succeed. I think they need to focus more on the food to get there.
