A laid back,  neighborhood bar that surprising has a few craft beer selections on tap and in the cooler. The bartenders are friendly and make you feel at home right away. The C & D is not fancy, it is what it is. Several TV's (I'm not a big fan of TV) are around the bar, and there is a pool table in the back room.

I can't speak for the women's room, but men's room is a bit beat up, with no door on the stall and a clear view from the urinal into the bar. Kind of odd. The patio is not fancy, but again, it's comfortable. You feel like your sitting in someone's backyard and several friendly neighbors have just stopped by to chat.

I enjoy stopping in when Steve or Mary Faith are bartending. Both are very , friendly, warm people. The C & D is a great place to get away from  chaotic establishments where folks are showing up to "be seen" A no nonsense place to relax.

Decent little neighborhood bar. Drinks are sometimes higher than Northside Tavern and don't try to order something out of he ordinary or straight up.

The patio out back is nice - the place does tend to their regulars so if you aren't one don't expect too much.

When I walked into C&D Bar, I felt right away like a regulars-only, blue-collar, working man's bar. Everything is dark wood, its tiny room with a long bar, there are paper flyers tacked up everywhere and none of the seats match (you basically grab what you can get.)

The bartenders only help to secure this image. They're gruff and curt and basically throw your drink at you after you order it.

So yes, this felt like a regular's dive bar - a place to get a drink when the working day is over and you need a spot to relax ... except for one thing. When I walked into C&D bar, a drag show had just finished and there were drag queens throughout the tiny space (and who doesn't love a good drag queen?)

Yes, a hipster dive bar in Northside through and through.

I liked the idea behind the bar, but I just wasn't thrilled with it while there. It was the little things that bothered me. The place felt dirty - like everything in there was just a little gross. They also served the drinks in plastic cup. I hate when bars do this. If I'm paying $5 for a beer, give me a real glass. I'm not in college anymore, plastic cups are terrible.

And everything is overpriced. This bar might have been able to get away with the atmosphere and service if drinks were cheap, but they weren't.

There is free popcorn, which was a nice touch. There was also a medley of 80s music being played, which after reading past Yelp reviews, I learn is kind of their thing. That was fun.

Still, I don't think I would seek this bar out again. If I'm in the area, I'd much rather sit in somewhere like Northside Tavern. At least I get a real glass with my beer there.

This place is a hidden gem.  Free popcorn.  The many huge flat screens play 80s one hit wonder videos while you sip on your Great Lakes draft.  And if Pabst Blue Ribbon is your thing, try $1.50/ pint.

That price beats Northside Tavern, Mayday, and The Comet for sure.  Its off the beaten path, and its worth the two blocks off Hamilton hike.

Great Lakes dominates the draft tower, which is fine with me.  They also have a large assortment of bottles, including locally brewed Mt. Carmel.

It is a real mystery to me why this place isn't packed.  Its clean, plenty of good 'n cheap bevs, and sweet sweet tunes rocking the night away.  The only bad part is that its not on the main strip in Northside, but seriously folks--- its 2 blocks away.

    three words: dollar vodka nights.

steve the dj is a really fun guy, he builds fires for people.  the two queens who own it are super friendly, love them.  good beer selection, cheap drinks, hula hoops, a popcorn machine and 80's nights.  it's my favorite place in northside.  i stopped going as often when i realized i was in their top 8 myspace friends, but i miss it so.

there was never a huge hipster population when i went.

EDIT:  so apparently they've changed the foundation of all that is good and right with the world.  no more dollar vodka nights. boooooo.

still a fun place to go if you hate the usual crowded northside spots.

It's hard to dish out five stars to the C&D after being there only once on a quiet Sunday afternoon so what the heck do I know about it?

This: they were kind enough to host our scooter rally wind-down by giving us a space to set up some brunch, kept us watered and supplied with Bloody Marys, stoked up the fire pit in the back yard (the bar has a fire pit. On the patio. In-ground. Nice!) and left the back doors open for us to come and go.

The old dudes making the drinks for us were friendly and welcoming, there were plenty of local papers scattered about for all the news of Cincinnati you'd want to catch up on and they have an interesting beer selection. A lovely way to wind down from a nutty weekend. They welcome us back every year, and that counts for something in my book.

Small place off the beaten Northside path, open late, hipster dance bar. plus regulars. It's probably best to know someone thats already there otherwise (well it'll happen anyway) be ready to be scanned head to toe by whoever is at the front of the room.

Small back room for the most stylish dance party this side of Williamsburg (barf) If you're into that sort of thing (which I'm not because I'm a douchebag), you'll be in heaven.

Had Great Lakes Blackout Stout on tap, so it's not all bad news.

I'll probably never go back unless i've had a few too many and someone else is buying. The review is harsh, but I really didn't have a terrible time, then again, I knew about half the people there.
