I love their wide variety, I love the atmosphere.  Great place on the plaza to go and enjoy the company of others.  The only reason why I am giving only 4 stars out of the 5, is because on 2 occasions Ive gone the normally great food was not so great.....

First time for spouse and me, and we were on the skeptical side - duh - they serve only their own wine and pair it with their own recipes.
But we went. Why? Because we were on the Plaza anyway.
    And... wow.
    Really good.
Service - about what you'd expect from a nice restaurant - attractive young people eager to please.
Wine - very okay, but without the "buy the $100 bottle" push.
Food - here's where the 5 stars come in. For a restaurant with a price point about what you'd see at Houston's or even Olive Garden, the selection and presentation was great.
We went with 3 small plates - tenderloin sliders, crispy shrimp, and chicken potstickers. All were top shelf.
    Going back? Uh, yeah!!!

Met up with some friends for wine tasting before dinner.  The bar was packed so tasting quickly went out the window because we couldn't get any real estate big enough for the five of us.  We transitioned to the real bar and just had glasses of wine instead.  The bartender was pleasent enough and their wine is always top notch.

Just bad.  Just bad.  But the server was a delight!

Our server was funny, gracious, thoughtful, attentive, and the best thing in the place.

The appetizer was so unmemorable that I can't even tell you what we had!  It had chips I think.  It was somewhere between bland as paper pulp and american cheese in flavor intensity.

We all ordered burgers.  I ordered a burger with bacon and onion strings.  I love burgers.  I stated that I wanted it extra rare (hoping to get a rare to med-rare burger) and I stressed that if it's not raw in the middle I promise I'll send it back so just let the kitchen know that (one would think that that would guarantee a rare to med-rare burger and if I was lucky enough to get it raw I would be the happiest guy alive) but the burger came out well done.  WELL DONE!  It was rock hard and charred.  Like the kitchen was deliberately trying to do as opposite as I asked.  I sent the burger back and the second one came out WELL DONE!  I sent it back and declined another meal.  If they can't get temp right two times in a row then I have no faith in the kitchen at all.  The manager handed me a card for a free meal and invited me back - good protocol.  After she left the table I handed the card to a couple across from me - I am not going back (and before this I would say that I always give a place three shots).  Cooper's Hawk and Michael Forbe's Grill are the first places I have said I will never go back after one visit.  No one should leave a restaurant feeling that way.

VERY WEIRD EXPERIENCE. For an upscale dining place, I was very thrown off by the lack of quality control in the kitchen.

We went there last weekend for my birthday and I ordered the chicken with angel hair pasta- the server agreed to let me sub mushrooms for chicken. When my dish arrived it looked fantastic. Big pile of angel hair pasta, thick marinara sauce, artichokes, broccoli, sliced garlic, but, unfortunately still had the chicken. No problem, it happens, I sent it back for them to make the mushroom version.

What was eventually delivered was a pile of angel hair pasta with watery sauce with three broccoli florets on top.... no artichoke. no mushroom. no garlic.

Really, Coopers Hawk? I am paying $16 for a pile of pasta, the least you could do is include all the ingredients listed on the menu. Especially after I already sent the dish back once.

I do applaud the server and manager for making it right by sending me home with a to-go order of the mushroom pasta (even though it still didnt have any sliced garlic...) and a bottle of wine.

Unfortunately, I am left feeling skeptic about the standards in the kitchen though.

Cooper's Hawk is definitely worth at least a visit. If you include the wine tasting it will pretty much take the better part of the evening.  The wine tasting was good. A bit long but our hostess was very accommodating with the selections because there are currently more sweet wines on the list than we would prefer to taste.

The calamari appetizer was great. Lightly breaded, fresh, and not over cooked.  My spouse that does not like sea food of any kind even enjoyed it. Both of our dinners were very good. Portions were almost spot on.  They were just enough to satisfy you but also keep you wanting just a bit more. The turtle for desert was a perfect ending. It was just enough sweets to satisfy and round out the meal.

If you are would like to go to a single place for a an evening and spend 2 or 3 hours it is worth a visit. Fun friendly staff in a very nice eye appealing restaurant.

LOVED IT! Decided to try the wine tasting and dinner for the first time for my birthday with friends. All were impressed. I was told on the phone that tasting bar is first come first serve no reservations, but as we were coming on a Tuesday night it shouldn't be a problem. So we planned to arrive at 7:30 for the tasting and then made a dinner reservation upstairs for 8:15.

When we got there the tasting bar was still full, but the space is huge and there are lots of fun wine-related things to look at and buy. So we wandered around for 20 minutes waiting for a spot at the bar. As soon as 2 people left, the wine pourer was very accommodating and allowed all 7 of us to squeeze in for a tasting. Tastings are a steal at $7 each for 8 pours (roughly 2 glasses of wine) and we had a choice of July selections or the "sweet" selections. Each of us were impressed with both "menus." I was even given a free tasting for my birthday.

Since the tastings take ~45 minutes - 1 hour we were late getting upstairs for our reservation. The hosts were very accommodating and had our table ready for us at 8:45, even though the restaurant closed at 9:30. For dinner we shared a pitcher each of Passion Fruit Sangria and Red Sangria, both of which were refreshing and delicious.

To say the least, we were all blown away by the food! And the prices were not bad at all. Among the 7 of us we had the lettuce wrap appetizer, black and blue steak salad, a steak tenderloin sandwich, a sandwich-salad combo that was only $9 and flatbread-salad combos (one caprese and one thai) that were $13. All were fantastic and a lot of food for the price. The only person who didn't LOVE their meal was the one who got the honey smoked turkey and brie sandwich. She said it was way too sweet. The incredible waiter said he would bring me a free birthday dessert, and I asked if it was the banoffee pie (I was thrilled when I saw it on the menu because a friend who lives in England has been recommending it to me for years and I have NEVER seen it on a menu here!). He said banoffee pie was not the complimentary dessert... but then he spoke to the chef and brought it anyway! He also kindly split our bill into 6 separate checks. Overall I was impressed with the atmosphere (converted from an old sports bar, you would never guess), the wine tasting, the fantastic food, the service, and the prices. One comment from a friend... "can we go back every week??"

Had heard great things before we went and it definitely lived up. Our group started out with the Asian BBQ nachos and lettuce wraps for appetizers, which were delicious. I had the white wine flight and a friend got the lux flight, both were excellent (I preferred the Pinot Gris and the Cooper's Hawk White). For dinner I had the Red Wine Mustard Short Ribs and my fiance had the Risotto Short Ribs - again, nothing disappointed.

Can't wait to go back, hopefully will get to do a tasting next time. Well done!

Came in for a wine tasting, and let's say the tasting was very generous and worth the stairs I climbed for it!

This location is fairly new, but the for a wine bar this size, I kinda expected more splash.  Probably because CH corporate has a no Marketing/advertising policy( - wait does that mean Yelp Elites will be out of the loop !?! )  The wines are good, and the bartender/ wine guide was very helpful and knowledgeable.  (I think the tasting is $7/ seat)  i went with a huge group, but most of the tables are set for more intimate groups of 2-6.

over all the selections were good, starting with whites to the dark "Lux Cabernet".  The pace was really good; slow enough for conversation and digestion, but fast enough that if this one isn't your cup of wine (ahaha pun intended) you didn't have to wait too long for the others to catch up!

Lastly, (and really, this is why I'm writing this free bit of publicity for CH) with each wine tasting, you get 1 chocolate covered strawberry for $2 (only 1 though....)  My bestie and I cashed in on the offer, but she took home all the sweets ( Nooooo! ).  but It'll be fun to stop in for dinner some time ( I here the three medallions are great! )

On earth as it is in heaven...

I had brunch here, which came with a complimentary cocktail--a choice of a Mimosa, Bellini or champagne. I chose the Bellini, which was not a traditional Bellini, as it was made with peach nectar instead of peach puree, but it was delightful. I had the Huevos Rancheros and they were, by far, the best I've ever had; the eggs were cooked to perfection and served atop a nicely balanced combination of chicken chorizo sausage, potatoes, cheese and pico de gallo--that combination complimented the flavor of the eggs without overpowering them. It was simply perfect--I felt like I'd just eaten an angel.

Staff was very attentive, helpful, and very knowledgeable regarding the menu and wine selections.

    I will definitely be back.

I love the interior of the restaurant - dark woods, wine barrels, glass walls.  The presentation for a bottle of wine is an experience. We initially had plans to eat at a different establishment on the Plaza but plans fell through and we ended up here - I was WAY excited about it as I'd been wanting to check out Cooper's Hawk for quite some time.

When we came in we skipped the tasting, it was our 1 year anniversary and my hubs was keeping me in the dark all I knew was that we had to be somewhere else on the Plaza by 8:30pm for a SURPRISE.  Our hostess was friendly and welcoming, we were immediately sat!

We sat at our table for a bit as they were really busy.  I don't mind sitting for a while especially if I can tell the place is packed! When our server greeted us he was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable.  We went through the whole dog and pony show and ordered some booze. I ordered the Sangria because it looked delicious and it def did not disappoint!  My hubs ordered the Cab Sav and it was also really good.

When we ordered our main dishes my hubs ordered a burger, the guy loves his burgers, I ordered scallops. This is when we were caught completely off guard our server says "A burger, really? Ok, I don't think I've ever had anyone order a burger at dinner." We were rendered speechless.  That was just the beginning, the rest of the visit was riddled with condescending snide comments.

In all honesty, I'm having a hard time separating my experience with the server and my food, the scallops were good the tomato salsa and the rice were "meh". The burger though was bland, I took a bite. As he was picking up our plates he said "was that the best burger you ever had?", he really has some gall!

At the end of our meal I politely asked for our check, as I mentioned earlier we were on a time crunch he responded with "Oh, no dessert? Well this isn't the kind of restaurant you eat at in a hurry."  And that my friends was the the straw that broke the camels back EVERYONE is going to hear about this visit EVERYONE (I'm hoping to get on a news station with this breaking story soon!)

If you're wondering who this condescending "professional server" is his name is John, he's older maybe late 40's, 50's. Because I have more class than this guy does I kept whatever retort I had to his unnecessary insolent remarks to myself. I'm not sure if maybe he thought we didn't have the means to be there but it was a serious misjudgement on his behalf that has left an unfortunate bitter taste in my mouth.  And if Cooper's Hawk is really the "kind of restaurant" that John likes to think it is then I'd expect management to remedy the situation (Update: Management came through, Chris, was sincerely apologetic.)

I'm not sure if we'll be returning it was most definitely an unpleasant experience.

The people there were so incredibly nice and knowledgable about the menu. I had never been to a Napa Valley style restaurant but my first experience was amazing!

I was there for brunch and had the eggs Benedict. They do a great Benny there and the hollandaise was spot-on. As I was eating, something passed by for another table, which smelled delicious and it turns out it was the scallops. After my meal, I stopped in the lower floor to browse the wine selections.

Alex there really knew his stuff. I had a few questions, and he was friendly and able to answer them straightaway.

My friend and I met for a 5:30 dinner recently. It was a first time for both of us. There were very few diners at that time, and we were shown to a booth in one of the many dining areas upstairs. We were the only ones in that area and we started yakking and catching up when we realized it had been 10 or 15 minutes and we had seen no one but the host who seated us. No menus, water or anything. I flagged down someone who looked like a waiter. He was extremely polite and apologized, explaining that most of the staff was in their specials briefing. I said I just wanted to make sure someone knew we were there! He got us water and our waiter showed up within a couple of minutes. This slight glitch was remediated over and over throughout the excellent meal. From there on everything was great and we'll be back. What we had: the Cooper's Hawk Red wine was delish to this Merlot drinker. My friend loved her peach sangria. Tempted by the happy hour discounts (not that cheap- but they are big) I ordered the pork belly nachos and Thai flatbread for my meal. Both were wonderful. My friend had the short ribs & risotto. I was a little bit jealous. Both of us gave 5 starts to that dish. We splurged (calorie-wise) on a shared apple pie. Oh my, what a wonderful apple pie. This is a LARGE serving so best to share or have them put the cinnamon ice cream on the side if you want to take left-overs home. I couldn't finish my two appetizers and the waiter packaged them in SEPARATE containers! This was a very considerate gesture, as those two tastes didn't need to blend.  Our waiter was great and I'm so sorry I don't remember his name. The maitre d' came by twice to make sure we were happy. He had just the right gentle approach and was not at all intrusive when he checked on us.

Cooper's Hawk opened its doors in late December, solidifying itself as Missouri's first winery and restaurant under one roof. Replacing the former 810 Zone (good riddance, sports bar!), Cooper's Hawk offers over 13,000 feet of drinking and eating space including a wine tasting room, gift shop, bar and enough seating for you and your 300 friends.

    It's a flipping huge space.

As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted with a glass of complimentary bubbly. They certainly know the way to my heart.

In addition to carrying several outside labels, Cooper's Hawk has their own private label of wines, including the Cooper's Hawk White - a semi-dry wine with flavors of lemon grass, citrus and pineapple. If you enjoy white wine, you must try this one. Another favorite was the complimentary pretzel bread. It is so fantastic! In addition to their addictive-as-crack pretzel bread, the restaurant offers modern, American dining including a bazillion menu items that will overwhelm or excite you. I was overwhelmed. Personally, I like a menu more simplified.

The portabella sandwich is one of the better vegetarian sandwiches I've had. The balsamic marinated shroom was so perfect and tasty and Cooper's Hawk really goes all out on the bread. The toasted focaccia had a tomato and herb crust that was phenomenal. My side of Asian slaw was equally delicious. The slaw had a smoky flavor that was odd for a slaw but right on point with my taste buds.

Another item I suggest for lunch is the Asian BBQ Pork Tenderloin sandwich. This sandwich consists of pork, prosciutto, pineapple, Swiss cheese, ginger scallion mayo and Asian slaw on sweet onion pocket bread. I can't think of a better combo. The meat and pineapple combined with the melted cheese....ugh, heaven!

Beyond being a great replacement to 810 Sports Zone, Cooper's Hawk is a great addition to the Plaza restaurant scene. As long as the pretzel bread and complimentary bubbly keep flowing, I know I'll be back for more.

If you are looking for a local Kansas City BBQ or steak restaurant, you won't be happy here.  This Illinois chain is a theme restaurant.  The theme is Napa Valley restaurants emphasizing wine and innovative preparations.  Don't be put off by the Illinois location.  This chain, although not out of California, succeeds at its objectives.

The happy hour from 3 pm to 6 pm is a particular winner.  Unlike many restaurants that provide happy hour discounts only in the bar area, this restaurant's happy hour discounts apply everywhere in the restaurant, including the main dining room upstairs.  Those discounts include $5 prices for all wines by the glass, including the Lux wines normally priced at twice that price.  All of the wines are produced by the chain's winery in Illinois using West Coast grapes.  If you are expecting to spend $1000 for a bottle of famous wine, you won't find it here.  But relative to the prices, this winery's wines are very fine indeed.  If you doubt the authenticity of the theme, you should go to a Napa Valley restaurant and find out for yourself.  Yes, I have done that.

This is not an inexpensive restaurant.  But moderately expensive theme restaurants do not succeed and spread for no reason.  Relative to its objectives, I like this restaurant a lot, and I will be back for sure.  What I've tried so far are the tuna tacos, caprese flat bread, sea scallops, lobster/crab bisque soup, and crispy shrimp, along with three of the lux wines by the glass.

At the happy hour prices, I could not have been happier.

The food is great.  I've brought 5 friends here so far to try it and all of them have really enjoyed their selections.  The lobster/crab bisque with pretzel bread is worthy of a trip all by itself. One of my friends got dessert.  It was a banana creme something or another and it was just incredible!! I was so full and still couldn't help polishing this off.

Do yourself a favor and ask for Dustin.  He is the best waiter here.

We attended a Monday night wine tasting with an alumnae group event for our sorority. This was my first time in, and I was surprised by how the venue is organized. I wouldn't say it's good or bad, just different than what I envisioned. The first floor is primarily a retail establishment with a tasting bar. There is a separate bar area on the first floor where you can also order food. They only serve their company labeled wines (Coopers Hawk) in the tasting room, bar and the restaurant upstairs, so if you're not a fan of their wines you need to go elsewhere (or drink beer or mixed drinks). If you love their wines you can purchase them in the retail store. But if you want to take them to the restaurant they will charge you a corkage fee! Or if you order the wine from the wine list, it is marked up substantially (as expected) from the retail price. It really seems like you should be able to enjoy wine you buy at the store with your meal, without incurring a corkage fee.
Our server at the wine tasting bar was fabulous. He was very informative, and certainly made sure that we tasted a nice variety of wines. After our wine tasting we headed to the bar area so we could order some food. Our server suggested the flatbreads for sharing, so the three of us shared two flatbreads. We had the Thai chicken and the margarita flatbreads and they were both yummy. Even better was the pretzel bread!
The restaurant menu upstairs seems a bit pricey, but I haven't eaten there, so can't really judge it too harshly. I found a few wines that I enjoyed, so chances are you'll find me back at Cooper's Hawk sometime soon.

Great happy hour from 3-6 M-F.  All wines, even the Lux selections are $5 and appetizers are $6.99.

We came in on a Monday and were greeted by a free sample of the wine of the month.  I love the entrance/store front area where you can do wine sampling, buy chocolates and various wine accoutrements.  The bar area on the first level is open seating.  We took a high top and waited about 5 minutes until our server came by.  You can sample any of the wines prior to ordering and they have almost all the offerings on tap.  I went with the Lux Meritage, which was good and my husband enjoyed the Cab Zin.

We also ordered the caprese flatbread and the mexican shrimp.  The appetizers took quite a while to arrive and the flatbread was by far the better choice.  The shrimp had nice flavor the guacamole actually complemented them quite well, but the flatbread, which fresh tomatoes, basil and sweet balsalmic drizzle was excellent.  We saw the thai chicken flatbread on the table next to us, and we'll likely get that on a return trip.

Overall, the server was nice, the prices were pretty spot on (at happy hour) and while none of the wine was stellar, it was all pretty solid.  I like this as a happy hour spot on the plaza and will likely be back.

The upper dining room with oak barrel surroundings looked welcoming as well, but I think happy hour is only available in the bar area...

Love that there is a place like this on the plaza.  Where the 810 Zone used to be, the interior renovations will take you to a swanky wine bar and restaurant.  I don't like that the "tasting" area is right inside the door.  I understand why but it can get crowded. they have some great little items in their store - typical for any wine bar/tasting business.

I do like that they have a relatively large bar area with lots a good number of tables.  The wine was surprisingly good.  I was a bit disappointed in the limited flights available for tasting.  Wish they would let you pick what you want.  Nonetheless, the food was also good; however, food was very slow to come out of the kitchen.  Apps came out relatively quick but entrees....better order an app so you don't get cranky waiting on your main course.

    The caprese flatbread is wonderful!

I will definitely go back and enjoy the wine and the appetizers.

If it wasn't for the great location, great interior and good wine, I would have given 2 stars. I was in for lunch with a friend this past Friday. The menu is quite extensive and each menu item is paired with one of the restaurants signature wines.

We both ordered sandwiches. I got the chicken salad on a warm croissant. The croissant was not warm and had that day old hardness to it. My friend ordered the chicken and cilantro sandwich. It was so loaded with mayo and had not one speck of cilantro in it. With sandwiches priced at $9.99 and $10.99 each, they should be perfect.

The wines were very good and I think I would go back for dessert and a wine flight.

Speaking of dessert, we did share the Reese's dessert. It was fantastic. A warm Reese's cookie in a small skillet with vanilla ice dream.

My suggestion is creating lunch specials. The menu ranges from the sandwich prices of around $9.99 up to entree items at $20 and higher.

The server was great and was very helpful in suggesting items. I wish the sandwiches had not been such a disappointment.

I have to be honest, I'm not usually a fan of food on the Plaza.  I lived in this neighborhood for almost 8 years and find most the stores and food to be pretentious and overpriced.  This new restaurant was chosen for our belated work holiday party, I was hesitant to say the least.  Like others have stated on the reviews, they wouldn't let us make a reservation.  Myself and 2 other co-workers were chosen to go get a table for 8 before it got too busy.  We were in luck.  We arrived at 4pm and they were able to put a couple of tables together so our large group could be accommodated.

I was giddy when I opened up the cocktail menu because at the very top was Dana's Pineappletini and a couple of drinks down was Jen's French Martini.  What else could we do but order the drinks with our names in them?  Our server's name was Christian and if you plan on dining here anytime soon, I highly recommend you request him if he's available.  He was truly delightful, knew the menu inside and out and had recommendations on anything you had questions about.  When the rest of our co-workers arrived, we decided to split the Asian BBQ Pork Belly Nachos, Caprese Flatbread and Chicken Potstickers.  Out of the 3 appetizers, I was pleasantly surprised with how good the flatbread was.  I helped myself to 3 slices!

In between our appetizers and entrees, the group ordered more martinis and I personally chose the white flight (4 white wines).  For the main meal I had the Rotisserie Chicken Salad Croissant and the Caesar Pesto Chopped Salad.  I couldn't help myself and also ordered Betty's Potatoes (Shredded Potatoes, Creamy White Cheddar, and Scallions).  My meal ended up coming with french fries, I didn't know that.  I would have subbed out the potatoes for them.  I didn't much care for the chicken salad, it tasted too much like celery.  The Caesar pesto however, that was a surprise treat!  I never would have thought to combine those 2 flavors and it was very yummy.

What would a Holiday party be without dessert?  We tried Cooper's Hawk Chocolate Cake, Crumbled Apple Pie, Banoffee Pie, and the Banana Caramel Ice Cream Sandwich.  I am so glad there were 8 of us sharing, the desserts were extremely rich.  My favorite of the bunch was definitely the Banoffee Pie.  I'm salivating just thinking about that delicious pie.  I think this place is great for groups.  I'd like to come back to do the wine tastings for sure!

(Sorry I have no photos, the Dana's Pineappletini was deceptively strong, and I was having too good a time with my co-workers to take pictures of the food and drinks.)

Wine bar area is cool.  Not big on the whole wine country store meets restaurant...strange...

Down hill from there.  30 mins late seating us for our reservation.  They claim to build their food around their wine. This is going to be a problem. I had the regular with red flight and calling it mediocre would probably be generous. My wife loves white wine and she could only finish one of four of the whites.

The food was okay. Had a party of 8 and no one thought much of  their food or wine. I had the pork tenderloin and got a whopping three medallions...foodie portions... The flatbread pizza appetizers were actually the highlight.

    Service was as expected.

Given it's on the plaza and all the tourist traffic, it might survive.  The wine will not carry this place, that's for sure.

If the Cheesecake Factory and Cracker Barrel had a restaurant baby this would be it. The same lobby filled with lots of useless, overpriced knick knacks that make you feel like you are at a amusement part more then a dining establishment. In short this is exactly what the Plaza DOES NOT need. Another chain, with no connections to KC, luring tourists in to spend their money on totally mediocre wine from Illinois and sub par yet pricey food. Is the food here horrible? Absolutely not. The menu is large and everyone including vegetarians can find something to eat. But it leaves you empty like a one night stand, or drinking a Slim Fast instead of eating lunch. The service is over the top. The are attentive and on top of things. I had some incredible lobster shrimp bisque here and delicious flat breads, but as I ate it I felt like Mickey Mouse should be popping around the corner, opening his coat jacket to sell me watches. The wine is really really average. There are a couple stand outs, including a nice champagne but the rest is somewhat of a joke with a large selection of Strawberry and Peach wine. Wine coolers for your non wine drinkers who would like to pretend. The do have a fascinating over the top decanter the size of a 3 year old child or maybe a pygmy goat they set on your table that gets a lot of attention, so that is all fun and part of the theatrics that will keep the tourists lining up. If you want real wine , ambiance and delicious food and a real KC dining experience skip this and go to a local gem around the corner.

I walked in for the first time and was amazed at how they had changed it up. It is beautiful & elegant but it is still friendly & inviting. First thing I got was a sample of the wine. Unbelievable. Our appetizer was amazing: Mexican Shrimp - bacon wrapped shrimp with a chile lime oil atop guacamole. 3 of the 4 had a gnocchi dish & I got a burger - overcooked, but they fixed it.  Our service was fantastic, the food was delicious. I will definitely be back.

If I could give half stars, this place would be a 3.5.  The service was great and the ladies doing the wine tastings were very helpful and friendly.  Our visit there started out great with the wine tasting.  We decided on a few bottles and we were told the price (very reasonable) and we told her we were going upstairs to eat and she said we could just wait and order the wine from our waiter, which was fine.  However, once we got upstairs and ordered the wine, we were told it was almost $30 a bottle, double the price from downstairs.  Huh?!  We told them about the price downstairs and how were were going to just order from her but waited, but then they got into this lengthy and rather confusing explaination about how the restaurant upstairs was separate from the winery downstairs and a corking fee/membership, etc... and we were all very confused by the concept that they were two separate entities, but oh well.  We just stuck with a glass a piece.  We ordered the pork belly nachos for the group (sounds like a crowd please doesn't it?) and were brought 5 nachos on a plate laid out side by side.  I mean, I wasn't expecting a Houlihans sized serving, but I thought at least there would be a plateful.  The nachos were wonderful and tasted great, but the serving size was a joke.  I think if we were explained that it may not be a good sharing option (considering we all got A nacho and one lucky person got two!) then we wouldn't have been as shocked.  The pretzel bread they served upstairs was amazing, great stuff.  If I came back I would just stick to the downstairs area at the bar, its more laid back and we enjoyed it.  The decor here is great, loved the ambiance and it is a beautiful establishment.  Make sure to be on the lookout for this place, its kind of on the side of a side street, so a bit hard to notice if you are walking by on the main street.

Both times that I have visited this restaurant has been for drinks and I think Cooper's Hawk will fit right in on the Plaza.

Over the holiday me and my brother visited to try the wine tasting. He's going back to school in vinology and he is quickly outpacing my skill set. I wanted to bring him here because it just opened up and to try some wine.

When you first walk in you are greeted by what looks like a store, bar and restaurant all in one. The renovation since it's been the old 810 zone was impressive. They have all sorts of toys and trinkets to buy or browse while you are waiting for your table. We choose the wine tasting at the bar to start. They have a couple of different flights that you can choose from and they each include 8 wines for around $7-9 depending on what you get. The wine tenders were very knowledgeable about the product and it was fun chatting with them and with other people who were also doing a tasting.

The other visit was a late night stop with some friends to do some late night boozing. The downstairs bar is cool and sleek with some fun Edison lights that makes the place look modern without offending anyone. We were by far the loudest people in there and no one noticed. It was a busy night and everyone was having a good time.

Overall, I've heard great things about their food. I will have to be back to try it again.

This restaurant is where the old 810 Zone was located on the Plaza. They did a significant renovation, and you would never know that though by how nice everything looks inside. We started off with the January Wine Tasting, 8 different wines, for $7. There was a variety of whites, reds, a sparkling, and dessert wine served. The majority were very good. The menu was diverse and everything sounded good. We shared the lobster bisque which had good portions of lobster, crab, and shrimp and was very tasty. Order the bowl as it is only $1 more than the cup. Ask for complementary pretzel bread if they don't offer, it's awesome. For dinner my wife had the MAPLE, MUSTARD, AND PRETZEL-CRUSTED PORK MEDALLIONS
(Pork Tenderloin Medallions Glazed with a Maple, Mustard, and Pretzel Crust. Served with Wasabi Potatoes and Asparagus) which were perfectly portioned, juicy, and delicious. We both really liked the Wasabi Potatoes as they were lightly seasoned so you could taste the difference but it wasn't overpowering. I ordered the SEAFOOD CANNELLONI
(Pasta Stuffed with Scallops and Jumbo Shrimp, Whipped Ricotta, Potato, Chicken Chorizo, and Herbs. Topped with Crisp Tortillas, Avocado, and Zesty Ancho Tomato Cream) which was actually quite small and left me hungry afterwards. It was decent, but not as good as the other dishes our party ordered. The service was good, no complaints there. Overall we enjoyed everything and will be back again.

I had called to make reservations for 7:45 on a Saturday and was rudely told by the young man who answered the phone that they didn't "take reservations during the golden hour of 7-8." Ok ... It was almost enough to make me change my mind about where our group was going to dine out, but the menu looked so good I decided to give it a shot.

We showed up at 7:45 on Saturday and it was packed (as expected) and the girl at the desk asked me, "Do you have a reservation?" I explained to her when I called to make a reservation, I was told they didn't take them. She then said "Oh, well sometimes we get busy." ?? I'm still unclear on if they take reservations during their "golden hour." We were told it would be a 1.5 hour wait (yikes!). We made our way to the bar and luckily snagged a table from a couple who was just getting ready to leave. We had to ask 3 times (along with the table behind us also asking themselves) for the KU basketball game to be turned on, but they finally figured it out.

We split some Asian pork belly nachos which were very good. I liked that they were served as 5 individual nachos, so you got everything in one perfect little bite. Our server (super great, can't remember his name) recommended the Mexican drunken shrimp which were really good as well. Large plump shrimp wrapped in bacon served with guac. Again, a portion of 5.

We had a few glasses of the Blanc de Blanc and it was refreshing.

Once we were called for our table, I was amazed at how BIG this restaurant really is. It seemed it just went on forever. When you walk in the front door you see a staircase, but don't really realize where it goes. During dinner, we kept feeling this arctic cold air blowing on us, as if a door were open somewhere. We kept looking for a door but couldn't find one. It'd happen for about 5 minutes every 15 minutes or so. We asked our server about it and she said the AC was kicking on and they couldn't figure it out? I don't know, but that was the COLDEST AC I've ever felt, and I don't know why they'd have the AC on when it's 12 degrees out.

ANYWAYS, onto the food. We ordered the calamari for an app and it was just terrible. It looked really good on the plate when we saw it in the bar and looked to be a huge, towering portion great to share with our party of 5. When we got it, it was disappointing because the breading was basically a funnel cake batter (too sweet for calamari) and the breading was WAY too thick. So it was like eating a chewy, calamari funnel cake. Sad :(

They do have a very neat aerator/dispenser they bring to your table when we ordered our bottle of Pinot Noir. It's quite neat and adds to the experience.

I had Dana's Parmesan crusted chicken which was divine. It was two very large chicken cutlets breaded in panko and parmesan, served with garlicky spinach and Mary's potatoes - shredded hash brown style with white cheddar. YUM. I could only finish one of the pieces of chicken, it was a really giant, tasty portion of food. I also had bites of the short rib risotto which was excellent. Tasty, tender short rib and a great risotto. The gnocchi carbonara was also very good.

All in all, we will definitely go back because the food was excellent (minus calamari). I think the reservations and AC issues can just be chalked up to this being a brand new restaurant still working out some kinks. But the food, which is so important, is really divine.

We showed up just before 7:30 and was told we would have a 45 min wait. We were pleasantly surprised when a manager found us in the bar area and informed us we could be seated immediately in the bar area. We gladly accepted and thought we got really lucky. Well long story short, our food took so long that the manager apologized several times (we didn't even complain to him or say anything to anyone) and he comped our first round of drinks. Our food came out luke warm. However, it was good food. Then our waitress took at least 30 min to bring us our check. Overall I was disappointed with our experience.

I can not wait To go Back to this restaurant. The service is amazing. Every employee is very knowledgeable and kind. Coopers Hawk makes all their own wines and they are very good. You are able to try any kind of wine u would like. I had the crab and lobster bisque with the Pinot noir and it was absolutely delicious. Their food is gourmet. I love that everything is very unique and has its own touch. I do not know one thing that is wrong with this restaurant. I can not wait to go back. It is still very new and I hope that the restaurant will continue to stay nice.

Brand new in KC.  Boasts great ambiance in a wonderful location.  The wine was crisp and tasty, service was great for a new establishment, and the food was delicious. To define:
Tried the Moscato and the sparkling one as well.  Both were nice however I recommend the non sparkling. The Syrah was yummy. The barrel reserve was a decent blend but the syrah was better. The Merlot is good with nice tones but the Syrah is still better.
The crab cakes were yummy but could use a little kick.  They were fresh though and meaty and the slaw was perfect.
The eggplant ravioli was good.  Nice portion.  The Salmon was fresh, cooked well and meaty.  I would have liked to see a little more garlic and kick but overall an A rating.
The Key Lime pie was awesome.  Could be a little tangier but it aas still yummy!

A good place to go to for a nice date night dinner.  Avg entre price is around 18 to 21. Some higher some lower.   Not super romantic due to no table cloth but cozy and nice.
Our server Amber was fun and comfortable even though it was her first day.

    Will certainly visit again.
