An evening treating my visiting cousin's served as the perfect opportunity to check out the Eagle's Nest's face-lifted interior. Very sleek and mod - cool (as in not warm) colors, white leather seats, lounge couches and glowing candles. Before going in, we made a pact to each order a different dessert and share. Before receiving our dessert the waiter brought baguette bread and rolls with honey lemon butter and basil tomato butter. Both were delicious - it was a toss up in the end of whether I enjoyed the desserts or bread and butter better.
The lineup:
creme brulee: meh. Something wasn't right here. The texture was off - thick and pasty. Might have just been an off night for the brulee.
apple tart with dulce de leche ice cream: Delicious! Recommended by the waitor. Fluffy/puff pastry like dough with apples and caramel and dollop of rich dulce de leche ice cream. This was my #2 favorite of our 4 selections.
Chocolate and caramel cake: rich, uber rich. Topped with slivered almonds. Could have used a big glass of milk to wash this baby down.
cheesecake with a berry syrup: delicious! I'm not a big cheesecake gal - but this one is dead on. So fluffy and rich without being overbearing.
Service was excellent - I was really worried they'd dismiss us when they knew we were only there to order dessert. v
Amazing experience! The fall menu is delicious! Try the red snapper! The sky high cocktail is a fun twist on a classic!
We really had a beautiful evening celebrating my lovely wife's birthday. We had been to a similar concept in Kansas City but never tried our hometown favorite here in Indy!
Service was truly charming, despite the unusual Wednesday night traffic and our server seemingly being spread over a couple of sections. She was truly fantastic very complimentary of our beverage choices and dinner choices. She was well versed in our gluten intolerance. It's a shame so many servers are more like this one because she knew her gluten trivia and had thoughtful recommendations.
The view of the city was breathtaking and perfectly romantic for my lady's special day. She enjoyed the fillet which was perfectly butterflied with a creamy sherry sauced scallop potato with the wonderful addition of asparagus for some brilliant greenery on the color palette.
I enjoyed a glass of sauvignon blanc, delicious and perfectly paired with the Panko Red Snapper. The snapper was so good! Typically I am not a fan of buttered sauces, but you had me at jalapeno butter sauce. Creamy with a touch of spice. For those of you that do not like spicy this is really a low spicy nothing too extreme. A well thought out pico on top of a bed of creamy rice. Rice and I do not usually get along, it is usually too filling for me and feel gross afterward. This rice was delicious! I probably will not eat any other rice but this rice. Well done!
Truly a delightful experience!
If there is any room for improvement it might only be in the hosts seating strategy and welcome to the restaurant. Upon arriving we had to wait a moment for the host to return as he was retrieving a cup of Joe, which i do not blame him it was a cold night and probably slow before we arrived. Simply the finer details I did not necessarily need to know. Seating seemed to be all in the same section while he did not seat us directly next to another party we were just a couple of tables down from a louder party. Like I said finer details. If a quiet table is important to you I would be sure to request it. The host was extremely hospitable and truly warm in welcoming and chatting with us as we waited for the elevator. He earns five stars for his hospitality but for professionalism maybe four. He was telling us that they often have trouble with the elevators and sometimes only one works. I like you, my friend, but a word from the wise don't advertise your faults have had people perceive something other than what I have intended when making conversation about problems we have had at our restaurant. Keep it up though you are excellent at what you do!
Thank you Eagle's Nest for being such a long standing romantic hot spot in downtown Indy. My wife and I are sure to return!
Oh no Eagle's Nest! Â You lost a star! Â
Problem 1: Â I always have the filet, this time is was drenched with gravy. Â It was a great cut of beef and it was cooked just right. Â The gravy actually took away from the flavor. Â I think next time I will ask for it on the side.
Problem 2: Â The new chairs and too low and uncomfortable and the tables has a base that was too high. Â Eagle's Nest is not an "eat and get out" place, people like to take their time and enjoy the view. Â The new tables and chairs are awkward.
We will be back, the service is great and the food is good, although expensive. Â The $50 http://R.com gift card and the 1,000 point OpenTable reservation will keep us coming back for the great view.
I agree with the majority of the other reviewers. This is a great, romantic spot that provides great views of the city, but their food is largely overpriced. I do give their food major props for claiming to go with local crops and meat, which may explain some of the price, and, overall, it was delicious. I wouldn't say that it is the best food I had ever had, but it was good. Their portions appeared to consist of the main dish, a little bit of potato and a few vegetables, so I left feeling satisfied but doubt too many people leave with leftovers.
The restaurant provided a really nice spot for a special occasion celebration. I certainly plan on going back, but only to grab (slightly overpriced) drinks with friends, and not to dine.
Great restaurant..I mean who would not be a fan of a rooftop that provides a 360 view on downtown Indianapolis. It just may not be right for someone who ever gets motion sickness (like myself). I didn't realize that the room would rotate during my visit so I found myself sitting with my eyes closed or staring at my non-moving table to help stabilize my world a bit.
Nonetheless, I went here on a Wednesday night and was able to walk in without a reservation, which I would recommend risking Ina weekend. Â The staff was completely service oriented and were available at all the right moments. The crab cakes appetizer is a must have filled with real crab and limited or no filler (just like I like it). I also ordered the filet mignon, which was perfectly cooked and offered with 2 sides: asparagus and mashed potatoes. I was stuffed, happy and felt as though I was sitting on top of Indianapolis. I just wish that I were able to better enjoy the view without feeling ill.
It's absolutely breathtaking to be here.
I came for afternoon cocktails while the sun was just beginning to set and loved seeing the entire city. In case you weren't aware, the restaurant here rotates, so that you are given an aerial ever-changing view of the city. It's beautiful to see during the afternoon and even better at night.
I sadly didn't come here for dinner ( since I was told it was pretty pricey) but did come here for the drinks. In my opinion the drinks are pretty good with nice pretentious sounding names.
Definitely worth it to come.
We are in Indianapolis for the first time, and the view was a must! The service we received was outstanding, and the food was perfect. I enjoyed the best Filet Mignon with truffle butter, my husband the herb-crusted Prime Rib. I saved just enough room to finish a piece of Creme Friache Cheesecake with Lime Curd, and it was amazing! Worth every penny.
Review Source:I really had a nice time here the other night. I wasn't sure what to expect since my father told me that it's been around forever, and used to be a little lower-brow. He had heard it was a new animal, and we went to check it out at the end of a long day of celebrations.
I wasn't sure what to expect of a rotating-restaurant, having never been in one before. I know it's a bit of a gimmick, but honestly the skyline at night, seeming to revolve around us from our plush, sunken booth facing the window wall, was beautiful and provided for endless entertainment.
The server was very friendly and cordial, knew the menu and happily gave suggestions. He never even batted an eye when we broke it to him that we were going to be having some drinks, sharing some appetizers and desserts and not doing entrees. Possibly since we were one of the last tables of the night, he may also not have minded.
Anyway we ordered some specialty frou-frou cocktail martinis and spiked signature coffee drinks, all of which were delicious and promptly delivered. The appetizers likewise arrived in due time. The buffalo mozzerella and tomato dish was fresh, sweet and pleasing, though not something I would say blew my mind or felt was particularly innovative. But it was tasty, non-threatening, and in reasonable portion.
The barbequed quail, though, was ESPECIALY Â delicious. Perfectly cooked, it had a rich gamey flavor without the tough consistency quail can get if overdone. The glaze was sweet and perfectly spicey, and the watermelon relish freshened the palette nicely. We attempted to order another round of this later, but were dismayed to realize the hot kitchen had already shut down. The floor hostess came over to very politely apologize that they were unable to fill the order we had just placed. Â But we were able to get desserts.
The chocolate carmel cake with almonds and ganache was blessedly not oversweet. (Though I barely tasted the caramel? No complaints though, I didn't need more sweetness in it.) It was however very dense and rich, and became a little overbearing in bites that were low on the almond flakes that provided crunch and a flavor break. I was glad to be sharing it, as I could never have eaten one alone.
The creme fraiche cheesecake with lime curd was essentially key lime pie with chocolate crumb crust. I liked it better than the cake, personally. It was fresh and bright, but didn't need the pile of whipped cream they set along side it.
All in all, its reasonably expensive but not restrictively so. Staff was friendly, professional, decor was lovely and clean, modern but not minimalist. The view was amazing, food was delicious, and the seating was comfortable. I had a wonderful time. Â I wouldn't hesitate to return.
I had my misgivings about eating here- I'd read reviews here and other places that led me to believe that this restaurant was a little schizophrenic, and I'd love the view but not like the food much.
When I got parked and hiked through the hotel, I was thinking "this better not suck" because I'd been on a misadventure trying to find parking, but when I finally made it to the place and was seated immediately by the friendly hostess, I began to relax. When I looked out the window of the Indy skyline, I relaxed more, and when our food started to arrive. I knew I was in for a great experience. I loved that there were two different types of bread, a savory muffin and a baguette, with two types of compound butter. I killed my Lobster Clam Chowder, so creamy and with the right amount of bacon, and my Crisped Salmon Filet was everything the one I wanted when I order salmon- flavorful, just the right amount of doneness, perfection. Plus, out of this world green beans and mashed potatoes that tasted like some hapless flunky sits and pulls KP duty- such potatoes need no gravy. Add the ricotta cheesecake and this was a meal for the ages.
As for the view- we ended up making a complete circle, I took pics like a total tourist, and we weren't rushed at all. I actually gasped when one of my dining companions pointed out it was 10 pm- a full 3 hours after we'd sat down.
This was a great meal, a fun time- and great karma after teenage me had gotten kicked out of the Eagle's Nest once, while we were staying at the Hyatt. We wanted to see the famous restaurant, the snotty hostess didn't believe my sister and I when we told her we were guests, and we spoke to the manager about our displeasure. Suck it, old hostess!
Went here for NYE and it was wonderful. The "Pre-fixe" (I think they meant "prix-Fixes" but they must have just sounded it out instead of checking their French) NYE menu included surf and turf with great lobster for a landlocked city as well as the best prime rib I've had in a long time. Beautiful view with NYE fireworks out the window.
Review Source:My wife and I took our two children to the eagles nest last year on Christmas eve for dinner and had a great experience. Since we do not have any family we decided that we would make this our own family tradition and do it every year on Christmas eve. My wife made reservations this year and we were all excited to eat there again. When she made the reservations she actually told the person our story and that we were making this our family tradition and that our 4 year old was very excited about coming back to the spinning restaurant. We got there and the employees we encountered were very excited that they had redecorated and had a new chef and menu. The place looked very nice but the first thing I noticed and commented to the girl who was seating us was the extremely tight fit in the chairs. I'm a normal size person and I barely fit. I can't imagine someone who is even a little overweight feeling comfortable in those chairs. The seater said that they had received several complaints about the chairs. Once they gave us the menu we noticed that there wasn't any choices for younger children like they had the previous year. We asked the waiter about this and he said the new chef was trying to get away from that type of menu. Basically he was saying that kids are not welcome. We would have been fine with that and probably chose a different restaurant if they would have told us that when we made our reservation. The waiter offered us a bowl of plain noodles with butter on them. Our son said that would be fine so we started out with the fried shrimp cocktail. It was very delicious and the cocktail sauce was just the right amount of spicy. the one negative was it only came with three shrimp. Kind of pricy for three shrimp. My wife and I both had the pear salad and the taste was very good I would highly recommend it. My older son had the lobster corn chowder and he thought it was very tasty. If you want regular butter with your bread you need to ask for it because they bring you some goat cheese and tomato pesto with your bread instead. My wife, son and I all ordered the filet. I guess we didn't read the menu because the filet comes with a not so pleasantly tasting steak sauce all over it. I wish the waiter would have made us aware that the sauce was going to be on the steak not on the side. For me the sauce ruined a good piece of meat. For my wife she ordered her steak medium well and it came out well done. However our son ordered his medium well and it came out just right and even with the nasty sauce he liked it. The plain noodles with butter for our youngest son turned out to be a cilantro lime noodle that was way too spicy and he did not like or eat any of them. The waiter was raving about how good their Chocolate almond cake was and that he highly recommended it. We decided to get that and after it arrived and I had a bite I had to chuckle to myself. I really think they took a hostess ding dong, put it in the freezer, sprinkled some almonds on it, gave it a squirt of whipped cream and presented it as their signature dessert. Ha. I think we are going to have to find a new place to go for our family Christmas eve tradition.
Review Source:I had such a good experience here. Sure, the food is pricey, but you also get great service for that price tag. The prime rib was amazing. If I could just stop by for their mash potato, I totally would. Their martinis super delicious. But thebest part of the meal, was their nectarine amaretto cheesecake. Yeah I love amaretto, but I usually always get some kind of chocolatey dessert (mostly cuz I'm a chocolate fiend)...but damn nectarine in a cheesecake! I don't know if you can describe cheesecake as succulent, but wow this was juicy, moist and mouthwatering.
Luckily, I can go back just for their desserts! (and martinis).
Oh, and although the decor is kinda stuffy and 1980's like (they have a stars and constellation theme...kinda weird for an upscale place), it was still a fun place for grad students to feel like they had money (which of course, we don't)
Best reason to go to Eagle's Nest is the view and the atmosphere (aka again, the view!) Service was great but food was only acceptable and not outstanding as I had hoped... don't know that it will be my choice of places for dinner unless I am entertaining friends from out of town and would like them to enjoy the view of my city!?!
Review Source:Made it to Eagle's Nest on the last day of Devour Downtown! Â Woo!
This has got to be one of the best DD deals out there: $30 for a 3 course meal that would have totaled something like $50. Â Mine consisted of lobster bisque, a 14oz prime rib (they do not downsize like other restaurants might, in order to make a profit), and amaretto nectarine ricotta cheesecake. Â The prime rib alone would have been $36!
If I ignored the fact that the bowl my bisque was served in was dirty, I would have liked the first course. Â I understand that sections of the window may be dirty (they were). Â Sure, it gets to be hard to maintain, especially when this restaurant rotates(!), and the windows are such a focal point to each and every diner... but dirty dishes? Â Eagle's Nest, we know you have a dishwasher!
Prime rib was extremely satisfying and tender. Â Asparagus and mashed potatoes made excellent sides. Â While I was a little sad to see the only choice for dessert was cheesecake, I was pretty stuffed by that point in the meal anyway.
The view of Indy is great! Â Rotating at 1/60 rpm, you'll have plenty of opps to catch picturesque photos during your meal.
Most people have said the food at the Eagle's Nest is not particularly good, although the view is awesome. I thought the food was actually quite good, but it's very unimaginative, and the servings are enormous -- to match the equally enormous price. Still, it's a fun place with friendly, attentive service, and the view is very nice, especially after dark.
Review Source:We chose to eat at the Eagle's Nest for our wedding anniversary, and they had given us a handwritten Happy Anniversary card before we ordered our food, which I thought was a really nice touch. We tried the Mediterranean Lamb Kabobs for an appetizer - the lamb was delicious, but the sauce was kind of bland. The portion size was also kind of a rip-off, we only got 2 thin pieces of lamb per stick and only a total of 2 sticks were included.
As I expected, you pay for the view. The view is spectacular, and it's a neat dining experience. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Â My favorite part of my meal experience was the dessert - the banana creme brulee. They make all their dessert from scratch, and it was so good (but the portion was so small). We had the filet mignon for our main dish, and it was average. Overall, I'd say the view and service are excellent but the food is not worth the price.
I made a reservation for my parents to enjoy a romantic dinner together at one of Indy's highest rated restaurants. I went and called ahead to leave my credit card info with the restaurant with explicit instructions to use it to pay for their meal. Something shady must be going on here as the person who answered my call repeated my credit card info back perfectly, but an hour after dropping my parents off I received a call from my father who told me he was being charged for the meall! A meal I had told him would be taken care of! Apparently somebody did not get the memo that I had already left my credit card with explicit instructions to use it for the meal. My father notified my server of this, but they claimed my card had been "rejected." That is absurd as the card was in good standing with my bank. What should have been a lovely dinner on me was ruined because my father had to pay for it himself!! What a disaster. I will be keeping track of my bank account to see if anything fishy happens with it in the next few days.
P.S. my father said the steak was overseasoned. So mediocre, overpriced food and absolutely horrendous service and incompetence. Not exactly a winning recipe.
had dinner there last tuesday. not very busy so we got seated right away. didnt even need to make reservation. service was ok, they were very polite but we thought everything was served a bit on the slow side. perhaps so that you stay there longer and get to see the 360 view. probably great for out of towners, but so much if you are familiar with the area. food is ok, quite pricy but its good food. wife ordered the veggie dish while i had the duck served on polenta. i started with the lobster bisque which was quite tasty.
Review Source:The food is OK, but you go for the view. The food can be a bit overpriced, though it's not a bad meal for a romantic night out. My recommendation is to stop in after work for a drink in the lounge area, sit and revolve around the city a bit, then hit one of the better restaurants nearby for dinner after.
Review Source:Since there isn't much to look at in the fair city of Indianapolis, the Eagle's Nest offers a unique scenery of the downtown, especially at night when it is full of lights. What makes the Eagle's Nest unique is its rotes and allows you to see the entire skyline of Indy in one hour. Great food!
Review Source:What a fantastic evening! Dan and I had a big night out on the town this past Friday and it started with an amazing dinner at The Eagle's Nest. We had reservations for 5:45 and we were seated upon entering the restaurant . We were promptly greeted by our waitress, who told us all about the restaurant, the menu and answered questions we had about the wine and beer list. Â Dan went with an Amber Ale that is brewed in Greenwood (he enjoyed his beer alot!) and I ordered and glass of the Clean Slate Riesling (my new favorite wine as it is not too sweet and not too dry!). As for dinner, Dan ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu and I ordered the 9 oz. Filet Mignon. Both entrees came with mashed potatoes and asparagus which were both delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly! The chicken was juicy and had a great flavor, the steak was cooked to a perfect medium and was oh so tender. Honestly, this was the best steak I have had in a very long time!
Overall, dinner was great, the view was amazing and service was top notch. Unfortunately because of the high prices, this restaurant is somewhere that we could only go for a very special evening out. It definitely helped that we had a Groupon coupon for our meal!!!
This place has a fantastic view and great service but the food is only so-so. Â I had crab cakes, prime rib and chocolate zabaglione. Â There wasn't anything wrong with the preparation.. it is just kind of run-of-the-mill. Â The view, on the other hand, is definitely the best in Indianapolis and it is possibly worth dining here simply for that. Â Perhaps just for dessert and cocktails?
Review Source:I visited the Eagle's Nest for the first time this week for my husband's bday. I was very impressed. It wasn't stuffy at all even though it was a fine dining establishment. The rotating view was nice, the service was great and the food was better than expected. For the price, the portions were pleasing. The only thing I didnt like was noticing that they charged 20% on top of what I paid on my card even though I left a cash tip. I'm just hoping it's an authorization and will fall off and charge the right amount. Just a heads up.
Review Source:Dined at the Eagle's Nest on the 4th of July...
Here's why we chose to dine at the Eagle's Nest... It has been proclaimed one of the most romantic restaurants in Indianapolis, so feeling a little amorous; I thought this might be a solid choice. We had not dined there yet, so we thought it was worth a try. Another reason is because it rotates and the view is said to be spectacular. The third http://reason--Restauran… is offering a $50 certificate--we knew we'd spend the minimum required to use the certificate, which is $100.
Here's why we won't go back... The food was not worth the price we paid for it--not even with our $50 dining certificate. The server was knowledgeable, but she didn't seem to really like her job and that was apparent. The restaurant needs a total makeover--it's time to update this place, seriously! The view is OK, I guess it's cool that the restaurant rotates, but who really wants a bird's eye view of Indianapolis? The Conrad seems to obstruct the view of Monument Circle. I just didn't dig it that much...could have had a much better meal at another downtown establishment with better décor.
I had the seared chicken breast (which was a chicken quarter) with braised leeks, and spring mushroom risotto. The chicken was OK, but my favorite part of the entrée was the risotto, not the best I've had, but it was tasty. My husband had the herb crusted prime rib with boursin cheese mashed potato. He said that the potatoes were bland and he didn't even need to comment on his prime rib, it was not a nice cut and should not have been served. I can't believe it was even put on a plate. He ate what he could of it, he didn't complain, we just wanted to get done with dinner and go elsewhere for dessert. The crab cake appetizer wasn't bad, it was better than the one served at Red Lobster... I tasted the lobster bisque my husband ordered and it wasn't bad either.
My French martini tasted just like a French martini should and helped take the edge off. Â We had a bottle of wine with dinner.
I've read reviews where people have stated they dined for nearly three hours at this place. Â We had a 6:45 pm reservation and we were out the door by 8:15 pm.
The total bill with the $50 http://Restaurant.com certificate and a 20% gratuity was $135.00.
The http://Restaurant.com certificate requires that 20% gratuity be added before the discount is applied. Â Not a problem at all, we always tip at least 20%. Â When I use these certificates I almost always supplement the required gratuity with a bit more. Â However, this time the server decided to add $10 more to her tip after we left the restaurant. Â I didn't think the service was great, so I just left the gratuity at the 20%. Â I looked at my bank statement online a couple of days later and realized that she had added another $10 to the total. Â I contacted the restaurant concierge and she apologized, said that Accounting would refund my $10 and asked me to return and receive a 20% discount on dinner. Â I still haven't gotten my $10 back...
The restaurant was nearly empty, only a few people seated. Â This place touts itself on its website as follows, "Enjoy a romantic evening with exceptional cuisine at the only revolving restaurant in Indiana". Â
Revolving. Â YES. Â Romantic. Â NOT SO MUCH. Â Shortly after we were seated a family of four was seated a few tables from us. Â The parents and the very young children were really loud and semi-obnoxious. Â I have three children of my own, but I would never have taken them to a restaurant like that when they were three or four years old. Â Seriously, if I wanted to share a romantic evening with some loud children, I would have gone to Buca and knocked down a couple of Danny DeVito Limoncellos and a "basket" of Chianti... Â Not kid-bashing, just wish that it would have been as romantic as I had imagined...or even as romantic as they advertise it to be...
Stop teasing people, Eagle's Nest...
Great view, great food and great service. Â We got there early since we didn't have reservations and because we wanted to take our time. Â We spent nearly three hours eating, drinking and rotating :-)
Our server had great recommendations on wine and food. Â The 14 Hands Riesling was sweet like I prefer and my husbands Shiraz complimented the prime rib well. Â Definitely recommend the Halibut, wow was that flavorful and more food than i really expected. Â The crab cakes were good but I was hoping they would have been bigger. Â The sauce that came with it was fantastic. Â And desserts were yummy! Carrot Cake and Creme Brulee with fresh strawberries!
Yes it is expensive, but we were allowed to linger and take our time which is exactly what we wanted on our anniversary. Â The views were great as well. Â Highly recommended for those special event nights.
I almost forgot the piano! Having the pianist playing in the background the entire evening was the perfect complement.
Carol K beat me to this review but it doesn't matter as we experienced it together, so she is spot on with the review....but I shall share my thoughts too *grin*.
Located at the top of the Hyatt Hotel, it is a little tricky to know where it is located as construction around the building made it a challenge.
Once you get to the top, the place is moving...all the time...so getting to the lounge/piano area may be 1 second or longer if it happens to be on the other side of the building. Â I've been in places like this all over the country. Â They are cool and make having dinner or drinks a bit more exciting.
I thought this would be a great place to see the entire city as I had never been in Indy downtown before and Carol K hadn't been there in a VERY long time.
The view was great...drinks were good...as was the service. Â We discovered that 2 drinks will get you 360 degrees, so nice timing for us.
A piano player played tunes that made Carol swoon for the days of playing piano in bars for money....back...in...the day. Â Though I'm still waiting to hear her play...I'm getting off track.
The town is very concentrated with regard to restaurants and bars, so it is easy to get to. Â It's a must do in this mid-west town.
The Eagle's Nest is the revolving restaurant and bar located at the top of the Hyatt Hotel, Indianapolis. We went for drinks before dinner and it was a good start to our evening.
The view from the top as it slowly spins was nice. Downtown Indy, the Capital building, the stadium and the river all in the distance makes for a scenic 360 degree view.
In the bar area- there is a piano player who plays a range of music that you can enjoy while you sip your drink and enjoy the view. The drinks are a little slow to come-I was never sure if it was because the server lost sight of us as the restaurant turned, or if there was just a back up at the bar. But whatever the reason- there was a usually a wait between drinks.
If you drive- there is valet parking at the Hyatt or plenty of spots on the street.
Doubt I would go here for dinner as there are so many places to eat in downtown Indy. But for that drink before dinner or to end your evening atop all the twinkling lights of downtown, the Eagle's Nest is a good choice.
We went here for our 2nd Anniversary, the view was amazing and worth it. Â However the food was just average, the soup was extremely salty and inedible. Â The service was solid, but I would have to say that it is worth going to once for the view. Â The drinks were very good and strong.
Review Source:Beautiful revolving restaurant high up at the Hyatt Hotel. Nice view of the most of the local landmarks. Indianapolis is one of the nicer big cities. It's quaint, has older landmarks, very interesting restaurants, and the Colts are right in town. Very clean city.
We had crab cakes $14, and lobster bisque $7, to start. Lots of crab and lots of lobster. Very good. We were also given 6 types of breads with butter and olive oil on separate serving plates. The sun was slowly setting and the sky's colors were red and orange.
We then had the filet mignon,$35, and the double cut pork chop with a nice glaze, $35. Both were melt in your mouth, great. Our table was right at the window, and the view of the river and the local buildings and monuments, and old courthouse were great. And we are very slowly revolving.
We ended with a cream brulee which was very good as well. We dined for 2 1/2 hours this past Saturday.
Excellent service, fair prices.
So you know how sometimes you end up being a bit silly? Â For example, in walking back to your hotel room with a new pal to finish off a bottle of wine, you decide it's a good idea to attempt to get the attention of your other new pal who is riding the elevator down to her floor. Â You decide to shout at her. Â Oh, and there's your other new friend, walkign back to his room. Â Let's say hi to him too. Â From the 15th floor. Â Hypothetically speaking, Â of course. Â I'm never silly like that.
Eagles Nest and its spinning dining room can help you achieve a silly moment such as the one above. Â If you're into being silly, that is. Â
After week's worth of intense training, enduring endless lectures and video critiques, my group members and I were ready to relax and just have a good time. Â Since it was raining, we chose to remain within the confines of our hotel. Â
Decent wine selection by the glass, good beers (go for the Indiana Amber, a name we all agreed sounds like a stripper) and lovely service. Â After all, they did seat us far, far away from anyone else and didn't order food. Â We were potentially a nightmare table (loud and not eating) so the fact that we were well-tended to, received plenty of the snack mix and copious amounts of drinks was pleasantly surprising.
Add to that the fact that the restaurant slowly spins (lovely at dusk) to give a marvelous view of downtown Indianapolis. Â
Yeah, I'd go back. Â Even if I wasn't staying at the hotel. Â Because I like to be silly. Â Oh, and I like good wine and service too. Â But mostly cuz of the silly thing.
I didn't have anything but Tea and Crème brûlée here so I'm not the fairest judge. If you're in a good relationship and you've never been here before, bring your sweetheart here for dinner. This spot actually made me wish I had my wife with me on business travel, because this had great character to it! So I don't know anything abou their meals, but their deserts and tea selection are great!
Review Source:Wonderful experience, celebrated an after New Year's dinner on the weekend. Â Reservations were a must, as they were full for the entire night. Â Our meal lasted for almost 3 hours, and we were actually in a hurry.
This is the best service I've experienced. Â Attentive, polished although not stiff, and very friendly. Â
For parking we spent a few dollars at the nearby circle center mall's parking garage, (also connected to the hyatt by skyway somewhere too i think). Â
Crab cake, excellent. Â Salad..interesting, an entire halved lettuce head. For entrees we had duck (amazingly tender), and seasonal fish which was good although the sauce was slightly salty. Â Topped off the night with tiramisu and coffee, our waitress even gave us an additional at no charge since she made it strong, and offered to make us another cup at the end of the night! Â Definitely a premium for the skyline view, but the food and service are much better than the typical hotel restaurant.
My wife and I went here over the weekend for her sister's birthday. We had a very nice experience but it was not without a couple problems. Â Let me explain.
First, the positives. Most of our food was delicious. My wife and I split the crab cake app. (The two of us use crab cakes as a restaurant barometer. Good cakes equals good restaurant 99% of the time.) I always like crab cakes that have a lot of crab in them, so that was definitely a plus. For my entree, I had the filet mignon which was cooked superbly. I also tasted my wife's lobster bisque which was very flavorful and creamy. Second, the view is pretty amazing. We made sure to eat slowly so that we got to see the entire 360 degree view. Eagle's Nest probably is the best view in the city and that alone should be a reason to check it out.
Now the negatives. First, there was a problem with the reservations. Originally my sister-in-law's boyfriend made the reservations for two, but then changed it to four since my wife and I decided to drive down from Chicago. When we got to the restaurant, they had no record of any change. Luckily, it was not a very big deal to find us a table. They also told him that the birthday girl's dessert would be free. Well, it wasn't. Lastly, the prices are on the steep side. Yes, I understand that we were paying a premium for the view, but I still felt that it was still a little overpriced.
Those four little stars are for all the lights of Indy that this restaurant provides...which is mostly the only reason to go here. Â
I don't know about anyone else, but I live in my jeans and hoodies most of the time; but who doesn't like to get spiffied up a bit and hold a martini in hand surrounded by a great atmosphere? Â Put your hand down over there.
This is a restaurant for drinks and an appetizer or drinks and dessert or drinks and conversation...following me? Drink here, don't dine here. Â It's average for mid-priced food and sub-par for the money they're charging, but no one said you have to eat here to go enjoy the spectacular views of the city. (PS: this place would be world-renowned and AMAZING if they could get a bit of an update in the dining room and a new chef/menu...any restaurateurs out there?)
I prefer to hit the sunset and slide into an evening skyline because, let's face it, Indy isn't the prettiest city during the day. Â But the lights at night are well worth the price of admission...which is nothing, by the way. Â So don't miss out on this Indianapolis landmark just because you've heard the food sucks...it does...but who cares after the third glass of Pinot?
