DELICIOUS!

I didn't expect Izakaya to look the way it did. The lighting was dim, décor was modern and serene, and located downstairs, beneath the building.

The portions are small, so order several dishes and share.

FOOD:

Garlic french fries - perfect starter, crispy and delicious
Miso seabass - firm, great flavor, highly recommend
Sautéed wild mushrooms - creamy, delicious, served with mini baguettes
Sautéed filet mignon with mushrooms - cooked medium although was a little tough
Dashi broth risotto rice - Prepared at your table in a parmesan block (cool!), must try!
Pork belly asparagus - bacon wrapped anything (almost) is good!
Seared beef salad - cooked medium, nice flavor.

I also recommend trying the blueberry lemonade (watch out, it's a creeper) and lychee martini. Both were really good and on the sweet side just as I like!

SERVICE:

Friendly, expedient, and personable.

PARKING:

You can park in the garage, just south of Izakaya for $5 (CASH ONLY), or get lucky and find street parking.

I had high hopes, since I loved this location when it was Horikawa's a teppan steak place. I had the steak lunch special. The steak was good and flavorful, and the side portions were small. It was a good meal, but I left feeling hungry. I would go back and try again...

Great happy hour menu! We ordered every single thing on their happy hour menu and were stuffed! The pepper jack cheese and the sausage were delicious! Cute place for a date :)

I will not return.

Female bartender - nice. Pours heavy drinks. Maybe too strong.
Milton-nice in a very condescending way.
Food - in true izakaya fashion most of the food is fried. When the food is served....is leaks of oil. Not the kind of oil that transfers to the bag when you order fast food restaurant. It is more of the oil that runs down the sides of the plate and gives you the impression half of the deep frier came with your meal.

The prep of the food takes way way too long. The people next to us waited 30 minutes for cheesecake and ice cream!!! I know right!! Slow.

Their cocktails are inventive and interesting. The entire place is a lounge vibe....with a restaurant layout.

So while all of this doesn't sound horrible and only 3 star worthy. The kicker is I got sick. And really sick. Sadly it wasn't from the alcohol. It was from the oil of the food. There was just too much dripping from it and it was hard to see that with the dark decor.

When I got home with the leftovers it was then I saw the food swimming in oil.

By the way...dynamite shrimp was not that good. Everything else tasted ok. I was not impressed or underwhelmed by anything. The food was normal. But the dynamite shrimp was not good at all.

This place is pretty sweet. It's a restaurant that is located underground and it can be a bit hard to spot this place. I ordered the double steak here. The double steak was $11 and it came with a miso soup and 2 steaks which were 6 oz each ! Anyway, that was a lot of food and the steak was pretty tasty. The restaurant itself has a pretty good atmosphere which resembled a forest. It felt like a very cozy place hidden from the world.

I actually enojyed this place. The aonori fries were great. The risotto is only good-if you eat it with their dry aged steak. Otherwise-as a stand alone dish I didn't care for it much.

This is my second time dining at Izakaya Fu-ga this year and it was pretty awesome.

Izakaya Fu-ga is a little difficult to find since the restaurant/bar is located underground. You will have to look for the signage outside to find this place. As you walk down the stairs from the sidewalk into the restaurant, you will be immediately greeted by one of their host/hostess. The decor for this place is "earthy" as in tree roots painted on the wall with black, brown and green furniture. It reminded me of Alice in Wonderland except without being on drugs.

The food here is delicious. The serving size is tapa portions and is meant to be shared. This being said, you should watch what they order as you can easily rack up a tab over $40 per person on food alone.

My friend and I order the rib eye steak, crispy tuna rolls, seaweed salad, fish liver, unagi fried rice and gyu tongue. All dishes were excellent. The rib eye steak was tender and juicy. The crispy tuna rolls were crunchy and went will with the gyu tongue. The fish liver was my favorite. It was velvety, salty and had a butter like texture that simply melted in your mouth. My mouth was in heaven after eating this. I would have ordered more of this dish, but the dishes came out of order as that our entrees came first and our starters arrived last.

The service here was excellent. I made reservations on Open Table and was promptly seated upon entry. They initially gave me a table in an undesirable location in the restaurant and when I asked to move, they humbly obliged to my request. Our server was fantastic. She knew which dishes to recommend since I had a little difficult in deciding and she and her staff brought out the dishes in fast.

There is validated parking or you can find metered street parking if you are fortunate.

I enjoyed returning back to Izakaya Fu-ga and most likely will return again soon.

Great restaurant for a date. Nice low light modern ambience.

Tried a few things. The chicken karaage was not so good.

But everything else was great! pork belly asparagus, cheese risotto, and a bunch of other stuff that I sadly dont remember.

Service was great.

I HAVE to come here when I'm in the area. Asked Nina for a skinny cocktail, so Mami at the bar whipped me up a low cal LA Mojita. Love. Hubz always gets the rib-eye and I like abso everything I try here :) Tonight it was the Chilean Sea Bass and Miso Eggplant. Bombtastic. I gobbled it all up!!

Feels like catching up with old friends here - nice, relaxed atmosphere with straight up good peeps. I'm going to try and go back later tonight, I liked it so much :D

Came here with the hubby for an early dinner on a Saturday. Cool, hip atmosphere with friendly and quick service. Ordered karaage, udon and baked eggplant. The karaage was good, not great. Decent sized pieces of chicken that were fried in a light potato batter and still moist, but lacking in any distinct flavors. Good spiced mayo dipping sauce. I expected something special because of the reviews of their karaage, but I was disappointed. It was just lightly battered, boneless chicken. The baked eggplant was flavorful, but small. The udon was good, but I can see why it's not talked about much on any reviews. Overall, it's a nice place, with great service and okay food. It's was worth the try!

Great overall experience, first time here, went with the wife and we will definitely be back.

You have got to try the Pork Belly Wrapped Asparagus and the chicken karaage, amazing. Also had the Lychee martini which had me feeling good after 1 drink. Good spot to start the night with some friends.

Dont forget to save room for dessert, I personally am not big fan of cheesecake but the chocolate cheesecake was really good.

Service was good and all the staff seemed really friendly.

Must stop by if you're in the area.

It's early afternoon, but you're ready to get your happy hour rockin' now- where do you go? Izakaya Fu-Ga has a good one and it runs 2 PM-6 PM! I've been here a couple times now, including a few work-related visits last year and more recently for the happy hour. In addition to good food and drinks, I like the atmosphere at Fu-ga. It has nice low lighting, cozy booths, and never gets too loud to have a civilized conversation with your companions. It's a great date place, and it even has free validated parking in the lot upstairs.

On my last visit here, I tried the pepper jack breaded cheese, the Japanese pork rib taco, and the California roll. The taco was really tasty, with very tender pork. I didn't pick the cheese dish, but it wasn't bad. C'mon, can you really go wrong with fried anything and/or cheese anything? The main negative was that the cheese cooled too quickly and thus lost its melty quality. The California roll was standard, but the portion was quite good for the price. I originally ordered the Cherry Blossom Margarita as a "mocktail" (nonalcoholic), but they added booze anyway. Sigh, couldn't let it go to waste. It was flavorful and decently strong.

I will be back for this happy hour, and I would also like to visit for lunch some time, since I saw some decent lunch specials on the menu. One last tip for ladies in heels: take the elevator down, because the stairs down from the street are terrifyingly steep.

So apparently every year on their anniversary (first week of June?) they offer a 6 oz. ribeye lunch for $6 (or double portion for $11)... and that's all they serve for lunch. Yep, you can either order steak, or double steak. I can't believe that they even hand out a special menu for this.

I've never seen this restaurant so full at lunch before. We found out quite on accident after specifically coming here to eat chicken karaage and subsequently learning that they would serve us nothing but steak for lunch. We stayed since it was too good of a deal to pass up. I ordered mine medium rare, and I think my steak was more than 50% red, but it's OK, probably made it tastier anyway. I rarely eat steak, but I thought it was very good and juicy. We all liked our steak, though I am probably the outlier that thinks that I really would have liked it with more vegetables. On their normal menu, the 6 oz. ribeye is priced at $13.

Onto the regular fare. I would not come here to eat traditional or quality Japanese food, because that's not what they do. I don't care for their bento. However, I have come here for a private party event in a secret hidden room in the back, and enjoyed lots of appetizers and finger foods, and decided... yep, the better things to eat here are the unhealthy fried things. The California rolls, Spicy Tuna rolls I had, bleh, don't even waste your time, go upstairs to Marukai for that. When you really want to throw out your diet and healthy eating ways, go greasy and you shall prevail. I do think the karaage is OK. I liked the stuffed jalapeno tempura more than I should care to admit.

Though for all the times I eat in this neighborhood, I really don't come here often. There's better (and less heart-attack-inducing) food to be had in Little Tokyo, really.

so I'm actually a regular at Fuga.
It's a great place. They have Great food and drinks.
My friends and I usually sit at the bar as the bartenders there are amazingly attentive , fun to talk to, and they remember what we ordered last time and so on.
One thing I have recently noticed about this place though...is the bar manager who def. is hypocritical about everything.... I've seen this guy pouring beer like 4 times for himself for the night while were there, giving free shots to his FAVORITE customers and stealing a bottle of Fiji water for his gay boyfriend after he told his coworkers and the bartenders "u guys are not allowed to give any free drinks. U guys keep on doing it it's been making me look bad!!!" wtf!!!???"

And great parts start right here, pay attention now;) 10 minutes before they closed down, he was sorta whispering to his boyfriend that was sitting at the bar "gosh they (his coworkers) still haven't closed their tabs yet! We need to catch the train in like 10 minutes. Gosh they better Hurry up!!" While he is chatting w his bf and sipping his 4th or 5th FREE beer doing nothing, he is complaining about his coworkers wanting to get out.
Wow! This guy whose title is a "manager" talking shit about his employees just because he wants to go home and sleep w his bf and doesn't want to miss the train?
I understand ur tired, alright? But dude, ur not the only one that wants to go home soon. seriously wow I mean WOW!!! This guy is unbelievable. And we both caught him talking about the customers (yeah we were those customers too that night) while were still sipping our last drinks (yup it's not even their closing time yet) saying "unless these guys get out, we can't go home...blah blah blah"

I still give this place 3.5 stars cuz overall I love this place and have kept coming here for the past 4-5 months to see the friendly bartenders, and servers, for their good appetizers and drinks...
Like some people on their reviews say, this bar manager is really killing this place and controlling his employees n a very bad way. im sure that the staff there alreadys knows that he is hypocritical and most customers have noticed that too.
hope the owner and the upper management team know the shady sides of him by now and do something about it.

I live in the area and was told to check this place out. First off it's better to just park somewhere in Little Tokyo and walk to this location than try to drive by it because you'll probably miss it. It's a small entrance where you walk down stairs into a basement setup. It's a fairly intimate and small restaurant and bar. that feels like a lounge. Service was great and attentive and has a romantic ambiance.

The only thing about this place is that it is fairly pricey and we walked out of dinner still feeling really hungry. Portions are much more delicate. I'd recommend going for the more specialty items that you cant' find elsewhere and avoiding the typical sushi rolls that you can find everywhere in JTown.

Scallop mushroom dynamite, Miso Baked Chilean Sea Bass, and mussels were pretty good.

To the owner and managers, please tell your waitress not to come back and tell us that gratuity is not included on the bill and that we didn't leave a tip. We left her a cash tip that you would've seen if you just walked around the table. And then she saw the tip asked if she can take it. I understand if you don't want to share tips with the busboy but don't be rude and just take the tip in front of us and pocket it. It was also rude to come tell us we didn't leave a tip implying we are cheap. The rudeness and greediness of that waitress pissed off all of us that night which sucks cause your restaurant is amazing. Food and atmosphere really spot on. Greedy rude waitress, not so much....

I really like this place! Hip, underground ambiance with good waitservice and delicious food.

Friends and I ordered the tapas and shared the plates with each other. We ordered: sauteed wild mushrooms, sauteed shishito peppers, miso foil-baked scallops, assorted sausage, and grilled squid. I also ordered a Sapphire Yuzu Drop martini.

Mushrooms in cream were very good. Would have been a bit heavy if I were the only one eating it. The peppers were pretty spicy! Was expecting a bell pepper more so a jalapeno. It was good, once I got past the fire. I liked the sausages, and the grilled squid were perfectly cooked. However, I think the miso scallops were my favorite. Although the scallops did not really meld together with the sauce, they were cooked beautifully and the mushrooms buried in the sauce were just divine. I would go back just for that dish.

The martini was good. Ended up being way too strong for me, but I liked the flavors. Not too sweet.

Overall, solid. I would definitely enjoy coming here with friends after a day's work.

Hello fellow yelpsters! I was hoping that my first post would be that of a satisfied, plumply content customer, unfortunately, that was not even remotely close to the case.
5/20: around 11:30pm, My friend and I walk into Fuga izakaya. Empty, except for five people sitting at the bar and one group of three sitting at a distance behind curtains towards the back of the restaurant. A very nice place: underground, dim lit, very nice bar that you see upon entering. The bartender was a very pleasant individual with a very clean cut, professional appearance. His service was nothing less than perfect.
So there we are having a conversation at the bar while drinking our dirty stoli martini on the rocks. I have a few drinks in me and like most, am holding a conversation which included some cursing. I was not angry, I was not cursing at my friend, simply a bar conversation that entailed curse words. It was at this point when the manager inserts himself into our conversation, telling us that there was no cursing allowed at this bar and that "if you don't like it, you don't have to come back." Mind you this was what he said to me before I said a word to him.
I've worked in the local downtown la bar scene for about 5 years now, from the Kyoto grand hotel, dinner house m, to cosmos. I also frequent many of the bars here in little tokyo. Never ever have I ever heard of no cursing at a bar. I would understand completely if we were being belligerent and offensive to the ears of parents who have their children there. So I turned to the five (one of which was an employee) and asked,"was I offending anybody!" No response from anyone..I proceed to ask for the check as the bartender apologizes profusely. I decide to ask the bartender if there's an actual policy or a sign on the door that I failed to see with something along the lines of,"no profanity." The bartender responds with more apologies, at which point the manager again takes the liberty of inserting himself into our conversation with the same exact line,"if you don't like it, don't come back." I ask him if his employees monitor the restaurant/bar for excessive profanity regularly, he catches the sarcasm and tells me to get out, (this is the best part) curses me under his breath! and picks up the phone...i asked him what he said and responds with more cursing under his breath...can you believe this guy telling me not to curse at the bar and here is, cursing AT the customer?!?!? I figure since he's now cursing at me, I would try to take it outside so I ask him politely,"lets go outside then man." At this point, even my friend is laughing at this guy...he tells me again to get out, that I am no longer welcomed there, and that he was going to call the police. I tip the bartender (who is still apologizing) and as i walked out, warned the five people sitting at the bar to be careful for me as I was clearly a threat to everyone's well being. If you're the bartender who was working that night and happen to be reading this, I'm sorry for kind of throwing you under the bus....but you and I both know your boss was not very nice or professional...I will not be returning here ever again and I truly hope that future customers never have to experience what I did...I'll still post two stars because the bartender was great and the lace itself is pretty nice. I just never thought I'd ever be cursed at by the BAR manager about cursing at a BAR!

The situation: Happy Hour with a co-worker
Time: A Wednesday @ 5pm

Good reviews, free parking, affordable, has happy hour, close to where I work. Um, yes please.

I saw the good reviews and that there's a happy hour, and it delivered. Given, it was a slow day and time, I didn't get to experience it when it's packed, which seems to cause the low reviews.

Cocktails are great, happy hour prices are awesome, and the food is yummy. Service was nice, they made sure they connected with us, very polite and easy to talk to, at least during slow times haha. And hey, free parking in Downtown--big bonus! That's rare, I appreciated it.

I'm definitely coming back, it hits all my criteria for a casual go-to spot after work :)

Went here late with a friend who was willing to let me indulge in my craving for Japanese Izakaya. We saw the reviews and thought.. this would be great. Parking sucks as usual in this area. It's $4 at night.. they do give you your money back if you do eat at the restaurant. Unfortunately, the parking is all reserved except for the top two floors.. what? You have to walk down two flights of stairs before you can even get to the elevators.

Made a reservation for 9 pm. This is pretty late people... but when I got there at 9:10 pm, the table was still not ready. Went to the bar.. and they did not check in on us or tell us when the table was ready. In fact, I had to ask the bartender and after they checked.. they finally offered us a table at 9:30 pm. I know things were in full swing but still..

The food (even their most highly recommended items) weren't that good.

Chicken karage - It's just fried chicken.. good but not anything special.

Asparagus and bacon - It was good.. but let's be honest.. this is no different than asparagus wrapped proscieutto

Spicy tuna on crispy rice - Done very well but can be gotten almost everywhere

All sushi items we ordered did NOT impress. I was sad... I saw some people eating this at the bar so I thought it had a lot of promise. But.. yeah, no.

Oh and it's underground so no phone reception. Used their wifi that was free so that's the silver lining.

Their drinks were also not delicious. Had a red wine.. guess that's my fault but it tasted like something that was opened for a while. Also tried the plum sake which tasted more like plum wine.

All hype.. doesn't live up to it.

As always, I defer to Toshiro D., my Japanese food guru, and his review:

http://www.yelp.com/biz/…

Asparagus and bacon - good but you can't really mess this one up. The aioli sauce was so thick none of it would stick to the food when you dipped something in it.

Chicken karage - deep fried nicely, on par with Albertson's or Ralphs

Spicy tuna and rice crackers - good. my favorite of the night but you can get this better just about anywhere.

Albacore and cucumber roll - fishy, thin slices of albacore. 2nd to the worse dish ordered.

Hamachi carpaccio - the came highly rated by the servers. the worst dish of the night. fish was slick, most likely because it was a couple days old. fishy, not very tasty. "ponzu" was oily.

Sake had a 300% mark-up. The little bottles were $30.

This is not a Japanese Izakaya. It's a bar and grill that serves some asian food. Recommend you go down the street to Aburiya Toranoko or Honda-ya Izakaya for a better experience.

Pretty cool spot to just chill with friends or in my case, my BF. The service is always friendly and the food is delicious. Ambiance is a big plus. Free parking and validation which is getting kinda rare in J-town. You either have to pay to park in the structure/lot or fight with the vultures for street parking. I love how you have to walk down a flight of stairs to get to the underground dining area. It's like you're going to a hidden cool place. My advice? Try everything! My all time favorite is the crispy rice with spicy tuna. I swear I can eat five plates on my own.

Good attention to details with food

easy parking in nearby garage.
pricey but worth what you get.
not a place to go to if you want super filling portions.

Menu Recommendations:
stoner flight
chilean sea bass

I came to Fu-ga since several of my friends have been here and liked it.

First of all, be prepared to deal with the small parking structure or parking on the street. At least with the parking structure, the parking fee is comped. If you park in the structure, be aware that the way down to Fu-ga is convoluted.

Now on to the food! The food here is interesting. It's Japanese mixed in with some fusion and it's rather good. My date and I ordered: Hamachi Carpaccio, Sashimi, Tsukune (which happened to be the best Tsukune I have ever had!), Yakitori (negima), Shrimp & Scallop Dynamite. All of the food is top quality and the flavors are fantastic. The service was above what I expected. Everyone here was nice and attentive. However, if you're a Japanese food purist, then this place isn't for you. Also, the prices are a little on the higher side, but that is to be expected from this type of establishment.

I will definitely come back again!

Fuga! Fuga! Fuga!!!!

Good food. Good drinks. Good everything.

Parking: Free parking with validation. It's actually valet only. The last time I went the valet guy didn't even do anything. He parked my car for me, but after we ate and went back to get the car, the guy just hands me the key and then I had to go get my car. Some valet service...

Service: The staff is always friendly and on top of their game. They refill cups when necessary and give you enough time to look over the menu. No complaints with the service at all.

Food:

Calamari: $6 for literally 5 pieces of calamari! WTF?! And to make it even more horrible, the calamari was disgusting. We didn't even finish it and there was only 5 pieces.... 1/5

Ribeye bento box: 21 day aged ribeye, tempura, potato salad, salad, miso soup and rice. The ribeye was absolutely delicious! The tempura was horrible... No sauce and it tasted like old oil. The salad and miso soup were good though. 3/5 $12

If you come here for lunch, I'd highly suggest just getting the Fuga lunch special. The special is the 21 day aged ribeye, sauteed vegetables, potato salad, miso soup and rice. 6 oz. $8.95 and 12 oz. $13. Trust me when I say the ribeye is good here. The sauce is perfection!

Fuga also has a great full bar and a really good happy hour!

Came here for a friend's birthday on a Saturday night.

The Service ---
The service was not the best. We had a large party -- three tables of six. They kept bringing the wrong food to the wrong table. We didn't get 2 of our dishes and when we asked our server, she said one of the other tables got it. They did eventually bring more out for us, but they charged the other table for them too. Another thing, with the bill -- each table was supposed to have their own separate bills but they ended up combining 2 tables. The good thing was they did take those extra dishes they charged us for off the bill. It was just a hassle. However, all of the servers were nice and I admit, we did have a large party.

The Food ---
Luckily, the food was boomb. Made up for the so so service. We got:
Bacon Wrapped Asparagus - Soooo sooooo good! Make sure you get this.
Risotto - It was fun because they mix it in a huge block of cheese. It tasted just okay, I would pass.
Fried Brie Cheese - Mmmmm, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. We ordered another one after we had finished the first.
Garlic Fries - These were pretty good. The sauce they give with it is yummy.
Seaweed Salad - Okay.
Assorted Sausage - This one was good as well. I liked all of the sausages.
Baked Miso Eggplant - Another one of my favorites. Definitely get this one.
We also got some seafood stuff that I didn't eat so can't comment =(

The Prices ---
Bacon Wrapped Asparagus - $6
Risotto - $8
Fried Brie Cheese - $6
Garlic Fries - $4
Seaweed Salad - $5
Assorted Sausage - $11
Baked Miso Eggplant - $5
We split all the food between 6 of us so it wasn't too pricey and there was definitely enough food for all.

I will definitely be coming back to try more things on their menu!!

Such a cute underground izakaya. It almost feels like a speakeasy because you do have to go down these stairs that reveals a beautiful interior. It's actually very reminiscent of some cocktail bars I have been to in Japan.

My friends and I decided to stop in for a cocktail. I'm sad we had ate too much previously at dinner since the food menu looked delicious but there's always next time.

We sat at the beautiful bar area, which interestingly had the TV playing footage of different areas of Japan.

The cherry cream soda cocktail was a standout. It was just an indulgent dessert where you couldn't taste the alcohol. I had the ginger sake spritzer, which was good and refreshing. But I don't think you can ever go wrong with a ginger and citrus combination.

I FINALLY got to try this place after wanting to for so long. It was everything I could have hoped for!

First off, I love the vibe of this joint. And it looks so chic! Came here with a couple of friends Monday night, so it was pretty empty. We didn't mind at all though. A nice quiet, calm place is what you need after a Monday. Beautiful lighting and we got to relax to the sweet sounds of jazz and bossa nova (over their system, not live haha) while eating.

We ate the following:

aonori flavored garlic french fries

shichimi grilled squid

sauteed assorted wild mushrooms

albacore delight roll

spicy tuna tempura roll

... It was all delicious. ESPECIALLY that squid! Perfectly tender and had a nice grilled/bbq flavor to it. yum! The rolls come out in a perfect bite-size so everyone got a few.

Will try the drinks next time! Can't wait to return!

Just went here last night and what an experience. I would of never thought the restaurant would be so swank after taking a trip down a flight of stairs to get inside. The waitress was really nice and accommodating (she even gave me and my friends four free lychees and said we can have four more for a dollar) and I really enjoyed my Cheesecake Brownie. I would of preferred more for the price, but I understand that a place like that is more about the elegance and sophistication of the plate setting. Still doesn't mean I can't be greedy!

Haha, side note, me and my friends came for the Tempura Cheesecake and they were out.

I need to come back to this place. And I need to bring my beloved, because it is soooo cool.

I found it on Yelp, and it is just around the corner from the Doubletree, where a colleague and I were staying.

The service is great. The atmosphere is really cool - they were playing old-school jazz, which made my colleague totally happy. We didn't get a chance to do their happy hour or try their drinks or their dessert, since we were there for work (dang it), but the food was great.

We each ordered three dishes. For izakaya, the dishes were pretty big, so we actually ran out of steam before finishing them. My dining companion ordered the asparagus (really good), the bacon-wrapped scallops (pretty mind-blowing), and the mushrooms (not as amazing as I'd hoped, but he was happy).

I ordered the agedashi tofu and eggplant (really good, but not spectacular), the fire-cracker tempura shrimp (def something to write home about), and the sauteed shishito peppers (I would order these again).

A really great spot. I hope I can visit again.

I met up with a girlfriend for lunch here one day. Yes it is located in the basement, but once inside I found a trendy low-key atmosphere.

I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box and it was delicious. Their bento box comes with miso soup, shrimp/veg tempura, potato salad & green salad. It was a good amount of food for lunch.

This place gets an extra star for its wonderful service!

Lunch is from Mon-Fri until 2pm. Free parking w/ validation in the garage.

I will definitely be coming back again to try more of their menu!

Ordered the Miso Baked Scallops....over an hour to get.
Ordered the Pork Belly Asparagus...over an hour to get out.
Food was good, but it should not have taken that long to prepare or cook. The place was not even packed.
The best thing was Free WiFi.

Came not too long ago for happy hour and loved it !

The dishes are tapas style and during happy hour, all the favs are like half off. Also because it was ladies' night our drinks were half off too. Yay!

Bacon wrapped asparagus - yum, and I usually dislike asparagus but I guess bacon makes everything better :)

crispy rice with spicy tuna - I think this was my favorite one

salmon + miso? - really really smooth.

i forgot what else we ordered but every other dish seemed reasonable to really excellent.

Mojitos here are super minty if you're into that ! They also have a ton of seeds if you order the raspberry one lol so be prepared. Even at happy hour, they didn't gyp us of the service or the alcohol. kudos to that !

John the bartender was super professional and warm.

We sat at the bar and had a bottle of sake. We didn't do food. We just talked and drank sake. John the bartender and Neilton were great. BTW, they have an event room here with a projection screen. Pretty awesome.

Don't half step. Come here for a quick dinner or cocktails.

Fu-ga is a hidden gem! If not for the sign in front of the restaurant, I probably would have never found this place. The restaurant is actually located in the basement of the building. But don't let the location scare you. Once you walk in, you will find the restaurant is nicely decorated and the vibe is trendy.

I came here with some girlfriends for happy hour. There was maybe a 5 minute wait when we arrived. But this place does get packed. We ordered the chicken karage, crispy rice with spicy tuna, bass sashimi, hamachi carpaccio, miso flavored scallops, and the spicy miso eggplant. The miso scallops were my favorite.

This is a great place to unwind after a long work day. A definite must try if you are looking for an izakaya in Little Tokyo.

I came here with a friend on Sunday night at 6pm. We hadn't planned to come here initially, but after circling the block and not finding any free street parking, we pulled into the parking garage indicating $3 flat rate parking. It's really cheap already, but we saw signs that they validated parking at the restaurant so we decided to go in.

Like everyone mentioned, this place is a bit hard to find - it's located in the basement of this building/parking garage. You just follow the signs pointing to elevator (not too hard to find) and take the middle elevator down to the restaurant. Press B for basement.

We were greeted and seated immediately. The restaurant was only half full when we arrived. We were given both regular and happy hour menus and were told happy hour went from 5pm to 7pm. Happy hour prices here are really good, but their regular prices aren't too bad either. Happy hour food prices are only $1-3 off regular prices. Prices for drinks include 50% off draft beers and $2 off cocktails.

Both my friend and I got spicy tuna rolls (8 whole pieces and quite filling) for $4.99 each. I thought they tasted pretty good, but not terrific. But for sushi that costs less than $5 per roll, who can complain? We also got the chicken karaage for $3.99. This was really good!

For drinks, I had a lychee martini (it was really strong and too sweet for me) and a champagne fu-ga (really' good bubbliness... definitely my favorite of the cocktails here). My friend ordered a Sapporo.

Our total bill for the night was only $32 for 3 dishes and 3 drinks. That's pretty amazing! Also, the waiter was kind enough to ask if I needed to validate my parking (I had forgotten until he asked), and he did so when he gave us the check. Great service and great prices is why I'll definitely be coming back.

Also, thanks for having happy hour on Mondays from 5pm to close!

This is one of my FAVORITE places in Little Tokyo!

Fuga is in a somewhat hidden underground space. Truly a great find and a hidden gem! The inside looks totally different from what you would expect! I fell in love as soon as I walked in-- perfectly dim-lit, clean, modern space with a loungey vibe. It's great for groups or for a date!

I've been here twice and I had an awesome experience both times and can't wait to go back! They have happy hour from 5-7 PM with draft beer 50% off, and $2 off bottled beer, wine, cocktails, and sake. And all their food is izakaya style so it's more like small plates meant for sharing.

Things that I've tried that I LOVE:
- Lychee Colada: yummyyy cocktail! Seriously so delicious that it's dangerous... my friends who got other cocktails also loved theirs! and if you're a ladyyy, they have Ladies Night on Tuesdays where you can get $2 off cocktails and 50% off desserts!
- Aonori flavored garlic french fries: perfect snack for sharing!! Addictively good! Get it for sure!
- Hamachi carpaccio - the quality of the hamachi is amazingggg! Super soft and melts in your mouth. This is my fave dish here!

Other dishes that I like: Fried breaded brie, sesame chicken karaage, japanese pork rib tacos. I also tried some grilled tongue dish that was also pretty delicious! Seriously.. there is nothing here that I don't like.

Service is also wonderful here! Very polite, friendly, but not too in-your-face. Wow I have no complaints at all about this place.

There's parking in the structure next to it. Don't forget to get validation on your way out to get free parking! :)
