I went to Mahogany's on 2/16/13.  This was a Friday evening. It was my cousin's 21st birthday and we had a whopping 12 people. Is a party of 12 a huge group? The management and staff at Mahogany's had no problem verbalizing the fact that they would have trouble accommodating such a large party. We were told that the table has a 2 hour minimum as if we were there to loiter. I was very offended by that. We had to share the menus because no one ever did bring us enough for each of us to have one.
Our twelfth family member arrived a little later than the rest of the family but not before we ordered. The waitress insisted that she could not spare one more chair for our table. There were a few empty tables (entire tables) in the restaurant. Still the waitress insisted that she had not one more chair. At this point 3 out of town family members who had driven all day decided to throw in the towel. They left and I wish I would have followed their lead and left as well. But we stayed because it was my cousin's birthday after all. We all wanted to try and make the best of it for him.
For the rest of the time the wait staff was snippy and rude. The food was very slow to arrive and lack luster when it did. I could go on but the mediocrity of the food was completely overshadowed by the bad service.  As we endured the long wait for our food to arrive I ponder this though. Does waiting an hour for food get tacked on to that 2 hour time clock, I wonder.
On my way out I stopped the manager for a word. I shared with him the concerns that I heard my family express during the evening.
    Our exchange was as follows:
I explained to him that we were not made to feel welcomed.
He said "That was on you all because how many did you have? 10 or something?"
I explained that our entire party was made up of paying customers.
He said "No you are GUESTS."
I responded that the good people who patronize the business, regardless of what you label them, are how the business is able to stay open.
He responded "We have a reality show coming here next month so we will be fine, don't worry."
So if you were thinking about spending money in Mahogany's on the Banks don't bother. The manager says they don't need your money because they have a reality show next month.

I went here for lunch one day from work.  There is lots of parking in the garage under the freedom center, so that's a plus.  The place looked like it had a decent stage to webcast shows from, but at lunch there wasn't anything showing.  I wasn't upset, it was lunch after all.  I got the po-boy and it was really nothing to write home about, it was rather dry.  Their deserts were also nothing to write about.  Maybe this would be a good place with a live band, the lights down low, and a date; but don't bother coming for lunch.

On Thursday my fiance and I had a wonderful time at Mahoganys on the banks.  The food was awesome, fresh, hot and refreshing.  the ambiance was warm  and inviting. I ordered the catfish fillets with green beans and macaroni and cheese, it was   excellent. The catfish with light and airy well seasoned and cooked to perfection** My fiance ordered the grilled  to perfection and taste wings, we were recommended the plum sauce  on the wings which really set it off. are drinks were excellent to taste we enjoyed our whole time there. The service is great.  We knew this was a SOFT OPENING and will be back for her grand opening we had an awesome time once again. Ohhh and parking is magnificent we park downstairs underground in walk the walk right up to the restaurant can't get much better than that ;-)
Perfect place for a late night dinner for 2 or the family event.

I went to lunch with a coworker on 8/22 but it's likely to be our only visit. It was certainly not a horrible experience, but it did nothing to make us want to come back. They were still using their soft opening menu, though they've been open for a few weeks now. This limited menu has maybe a dozen items on it (ok, a bit more with sides and desserts), and they were out of two things that we knew of: collard greens and hot wings. How can you be out of anything with such a limited menu? My friend and I started with the fried green tomatoes. They were fine but not spectacular. They came out quickly, hot and crispy, but I felt they needed more seasoning. The remoulade sauce tasted too much of mayo. We both ordered the catfish nuggets with fries, and my friend's came out first. Our waitress apologized and said mine was coming right up, and four or so minutes later it did. You never serve the same table at different times, especially considering we were the first two in there by several minutes...and when our orders were taken there were maybe six people in there. What did the kitchen do wrong? But worse than the timing was that the fish was chewy. It was hot and crispy but chewy. How do you do that? And, again, the fish needed more seasoning and less breading. I was very much looking forward to some great soul food, but Mahoganys did not provide it.
