For a dive bar... well it's just that!
It's tiny, it's cramped, it has a small stage. But, the drinks are worth it. A mixed drink and a bottle of beer ran me about $10, which is kind of average, but one mixed drink was enough to last me the night. They were incredibly (good) strong, and worth the money, in full pint glasses. That's what ups it a star for me. Didn't try the food, but for a bar and drinks, it's not too shabby.
The place is tucked in right next to Lee's chicken and parking can be found across the main street on the corner where it forks, just fyi
This is a total dive bar. It's dirty, dark, and shady. We went here because one of our friends was doing stand up comedy there on a Friday night. It was fun but a bit out of the way from us. I had no clue on where this place was and neither did our GPS. We drove right by the place and didn't even know it. The staff is nice and the drinks were strong. The one thing I didn't like was that it did not have any draft beer only bottle. I don't see myself going here again just because I have no reason to go to this area.
Review Source:I tried this place after I got a certificate from http://Restaurants.com. Overall, I was not impressed.
The burgers were really good, but way overpriced even with the discount. In fact, I don't see how they ever sell any food without a coupon. Then again, this is a bar and maybe that's why? Maybe people get really drunk and just don't care? I personally don't drink so I guess I'll never know.
They have live music going which could be a good thing for some people I guess? For me... I just thought it was really funny. It was a group of old men playing bluegrass/blues music and I kind of liked it. I however couldn't hear a word my husband said, but I could tell he was miserable and then I had to hear him complain the whole car ride home about how horrible it was.
Maybe it wouldn't be so bad on a live poetry night? I don't know... the food wasn't really worth it enough to go back.
Finally, the service was pretty bad. There wasn't many people there so we should have gotten our food pretty fast but we didn't. Also we ordered an appetizer and got a very small amount of food that wasn't worth it at all, then as we were leaving we saw someone else order the same thing and got a lot with more stuff on it.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, unless you're going in just to drink. Since I don't drink I don't really have an opinion on that, though I must admit I've seen and been in much nicer bars.
We went to use a gift certificate and I was hoping to find a neighborhood gem. Instead we found a hole. I'm sure it is a fine place to drink and the food was ok, but I'm not sure they are sure how to use the http://Resturant.com certificate and we were overcharged. The owner/cook and waitress were entertaining enough but we sat there for two hours. This isn't really a two hour dinner kind of place. Â Plus sitting next to exposed pipes are fine if it works for the ambiance, but here, it worked as actual plumbing so we got to listen to the water run everytime someone upstairs flushed the toilet. Â But the local drunk guy at the corner of the bar at 6 PM was nice enough, I guess. Â I told my mom not to even bother with her gift certificate. Â It isn't worth the $2 she spent on it to go down there.
