Great friendly service. Upon finding our seats outside on the patio, we were immediately served complementary truffle popcorn and a glass of the evening's free wine sample. Everyone who worked there was incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive. I definitely recommend this place for small groups or a date night. A huge plus is that you can smoke outside in the patio area B-).
Review Source:We stopped in Friday evening for the first time, very impressed. The selection looks impressive. The service was great. I love the "welcome splash." I tried an Italian white flight and the wine were excellent - very well selected. We plan to go back and experience more of what Pour Haus  has to offer.
Review Source:Man.......
It's as good as it gets.
- Complimentary taste of Lambrusco upon arrival
- Truffle popcorn to complement your wine order
- Really cozy, cute, and heated patio
- Decently large collection of game boards. (wine glasses + game boards + high tables/chairs spell trouble though, IMO)
- Cheese & charcuterie board was impeccable, you can mix and match items. We had bits of prosciutto, capicola, Cowgirl cheese (sharp), manchego (mild), fruit jam, truffle honey, mustard, dried cranberries, dates, nuts, pickles, olives, nuts, baguette, and crackers on our plate. It was so fun mixing and matching sweet or savory flavors with my wine, seriously....         so         good..
- Wine bottles are sold by their retail store price, so most bottles were in the $20 range (say what?!)
- Nice service, not too loud on a Saturday night
Meh:
- Prosciutto/goat cheese stuffed pickled peppers were... inconsistent. Some were good, and some were extremely bitter.
- At night, the area is sketchy although it's up and coming.
LOVE this addition to the DTLA Industrial area.
I was here for a complimentary event, so I will leave that portion out of my review and only discuss the things I paid for. Â For starters, the space is great. Â Its intimate with high tables that probably seat 40 people. Â The walls are covered with wine bottles and one has all the of the cheeses, meats and beers listed on a huge chalkboard. There is a small bar and a patio. Â Parking is easy on the street or you can valet across the street for $4, and depending on the time that you are here, valet may be the safest bet.
Lorena, the owner was there to greet us and Felix was our server. Both were incredibly warm and friendly. Â Felix was REALLY funny! Â We were hungry and apparently he was too, because he encouraged us to try many of the items on the menu. Â We started with the Greek nachos which were really good. Â Then we ordered the 4 cheese plate. Â This was one of the best presented and served cheese plates I've ever seen. Â 4 cheeses, crackers, mini toasts, honey, fig jam, nuts, gherkins, olives and I'm sure I'm forgetting something....bottom line, it's worth the $14 price tag! Â Then I ordered the croque monsieur. Â It was cut into 4 pieces and served with a slaw that had chimichurri in it (or something delicious). My friend ordered the Americana (short rib sandwich) also served with slaw. Â Both sandwiches were delicious! Â We had leftovers (thankfully) and Felix packed everything up for us and sent us off wanting more. Â
This is a great spot for just about any occasion. Â Casual bite, a date night, girls brunch, pretty much anything. Â Highly recommend!
Great place to drink and chill with friends! They have a pretty diverse selection of wines and a surprising number of (bottled) craft beers. If you don't know what you want, the staff is pretty knowledgeable and make great recommendations! My only wish is that they'd rotate the beers once in a while... they've had the same list (more or less) since I first came here.
As for the eats, I've been pretty disappointed. Tried the spreads and dips, bruschetta, nachos, flatbread white pizza, and mac & cheese. All of them could use some serious rework because none of them were very appetizing. It's not that big of a deal - the vibe is chill (especially on weeknights) and trivia night is a blast - but we've resorted to eating elsewhere before coming here. I could see how that'd be a downer for other folks.
My favorite spot to hang out in DTLA!
Excellent wine choices, staff is all friendly and welcoming. Casual and chill place to get together with friends.
Love the wine flight - they always have nice choice, fun to discover new favorite wine.
For dessert, smores was surprisingly good - perfect bite to share after many glass of wines and fine cheese.
I came here last weekend for a friend's birthday party. Â It was my first time so no expectations going in. Â I didn't even read Yelp reviews beforehand! Â My friend told me there was wine and lots of it and that was good enough for me. Â Plus, I had faith in the neighborhood.
Verdict? Totally impressed. It's spacious, but manages to maintain a cozy neighborhood bar vibe. The wine and beer lists are extensive. They have wine flights which I really wanted to try, but my party-going friends were in a bottle buying mood and I don't say no to bottles.
I remember a Rosé that kept me coming back for more.  It was called Rosé de la Commanderie de la Bargemone.  It had a very light, fruity taste with hints of citrus. Delicious!
As for the food, everyone raved about the oxtail tacos and there were multiple orders of the meat and cheese plates. The service was impeccable. Even though we were an extremely large party (we took up a large table indoors and pretty much occupied the entire outdoor patio), the staff was attentive and never missed a beat.
Parking can be a bit tricky for those who aren't familiar with the area. A few of my friends opted for the paid lot nearby, but since I used to work in downtown, I found a street spot a couple of blocks away. There isn't a lot of pedestrian traffic once you leave this little stretch of bars/restaurants, so if you choose to go the street parking route, make sure you've got a friend with you. Better safe than sorry.
I am definitely coming back here ... there's a wine flight with my name on it!
A few travel blogger friends and I decided to meet-up at this place. I love this place! Great wide selection of wine!! Pour Haus is in the Arts District in DTLA the place is difficult to find as it is tucked away in the very small street on Industrial Street. After making a few turn arounds I finally found the place. I found parking at the street as it was early enough. At night though there is a paid parking lot you can park at.
We went on a Saturday during their happy hour. Wine and appetizers for half off- great deal! Lots of food selection but I would have to admit the food was a-ok ( -1 star for that) but a few are good for vegans and vegetarians and light-eaters. Other than that the wine selection is great!
The crowd is as diverse as it can be. Artsy, hipster looking, and older crowd, diverse is best! Our waiter was AWESOME! So friendly and took care of us. A++ for customer service. I have been recommending this place to the rest of my friends.
This is one of my favorite places to hang with friends. Â Lorena is so knowledgable and seems to remember what all of her customers like to drink. Â She's turned me on to some new favorite wines and I can buy bottles and take them home. Â Best of all is the price - reasonable.
It's like going to visit a friend who has a great wine rack and good snacks.
And fun board games!
It's that time again. Â Birthdays... Â I'm a lil strange on this day. Â Believe it or not, I don't like much of this celebratory accolades that come on this day. Â I like to spread my birthdays out. Â Monday, have lunch with a friend, Tuesday have dinner with the family, Wednesday, another a friend, and on the day of my birthday, a nice dinner with The Man. Â You get my point? Â Having a big party is just not my thing.... Â I like intimate moments, shared with people I love, individually. Â When you have big parties, you have a split second with each person that seems so artificial and contrived. Â Anyway... Let's just say, this year was not one of those birthdays. Â Luckily tho... I still kept it relatively small and I have Pour Haus to thank for that.
Pour Haus is a small wine bar located in the arts district of downtown. Â It use to hold another wine bar called Swill that closed down a bit ago. Â Not sure why this location is such a hard sell. Â This lil part of Industrial St., holds the famous Church & State and a pretty successful bar called Little Bear. Â
I emailed Pour Haus to ask if I might be able to hold a couple of tables for around 10 to 15 people and they were happy to oblige. Â Most bars, big or small, normally would've laughed at this. Â I mean, bars normally don't hold tables. Â It's not like it's some sort of club or restaurant. Â So, for this, I am grateful.
On to the bar....
The bar itself is intimate and casual. Â Lined along the walls are bottles and bottles of wine. Â The prices are more than reasonable. Â When we first sat down, the waitress poured us a lil taster of a beautiful effervescent red. Â We drank this stuff all night. Â @ 20 bucks a bottle, I believe we bought around 10. Â The total came out to about 25 bucks a head including some light bites which were tasty and paired perfectly for the evening. Â I have to be honest.... Â I don't remember much else, but i do remember enjoying myself with good friends and an abundance of wine.
*** Cool little neighborhood spot in DTLA arts district. ***
Met a group to celebrate my friend's twelfth 29th bday lol.
Sampled the menu ... finger foods mostly. Â All pretty tasty.
Service was impeccable. Â Waitress was extremely friendly.
And surprisingly the tab was very reasonable ... $25/person.
*** A good place to nibble and sip an hour or two away. ***
This place has excellent service, a chill atmosphere, and is perfectly situated in DTLA. We were greeted with a complimentary taste of a wine - it was really good so we had a glass of that. We also had a plate of bruschetta and a cheese plate that was good too.
This is a great place to come on a date, hang out with friends, or just sample wines to buy for home. They even have board games and a DJ. I used to default to Perch when I went downtown, but it's impossible to get in now. This is probably gonna be my new spot.
If you go on a weekend, it may be a bit hard to get parking but, if you're willing to drive around a while, you can probably find street parking for free. Also, it's a bit difficult to find so make sure you GPS it - don't make the mistake of entering Pour "House" instead of "Haus" and taking forever to find it.
LOVE! the service.
LOVE! the decor.
LOVE! the wine flights (only $10!).
DID NOT LOVE the location. My friend and I thought we were lost, the place is so hidden on a small block in the industrial area of downtown. On the bright side, there's a ton of free parking.
We both did their white wine flight and ordered a platter of assorted cheeses. The cheese was delish, but very VERYYY tiny portioned with dots of jam and honey on the dish. Very yummy nonetheless, I'd still get it again.
We started out sitting outside, and the patio would be lovely during the spring or summer, but it was cold! We gladly moved inside when one of their tall bar tables opened up. They had an eclectic DJ spinning tunes, and I liked the different feel of the place.
It's a really nice relaxing place to chill with some wine, I'd probably have a party or a get-together here if it wasn't so damn out of the way.
I've been waiting to write this review for the longest time. I'm sorry it took so long. If you haven't been here, you definitely NEED to try this place ASAP.
I went on a Saturday afternoon around 5pm (went to Villain's Tavern, a couple blocks away, then Little Bear, which is across the street). Â Parked across the street ($2 for 30 minutes or $5 for no time limit). Â Walked in and was immediately greeted then told we could sit anywhere we'd like. Checked outside, but it was still a little cold so opted for an inside table. We were given a free glass of wine just to set the mood then made our beer selections. Server recommended "Estrella" a common beer in Spain. Wasn't bad, pretty smooth, light and simple. Â Server also brought us white cheddar popcorn so we could munch on while we drank. Â
After that beer, I glanced at the wall and studied the alcohol selection as if I was going to tested. Â I had to shift a couple times as another couple obstructed my view of the most important thing on my mind, "what to drink next?" Then I saw they had the Bruery Saison Rue... Dude I love this beer. It speaks to me. We are one. There is a mutual respect amongst us. Â The server then informed me the beer was only available in the 750ml size... lol don't worry bro, that won't be a problem. A couple glasses later, we moved outside and sat in some lounge/ sofa seats and asked the server to turn on the heat lamps. Then all I remember is constantly losing at Jenga, Domino, and Uno (which they offer for free). Good times ha
Holy crap. Â This is dangerous.
First of all, the area is so freaking cool. I love this part of downtown, semi arts district, semi industrial. This little stretch of it, specifically, is super cute with Church & State right nearby and a few other cute establishments.
Pour Haus was easy to find, and it was the perfect post opera stop. Â We posted up at the bar at around 11 pm on a Saturday night and got two flights, both were incredible. The wines were super fabulous, there was a great DJ spinning some tunes, EXCELLENT service and pretty good food. We got the kale salad, the oxtail tacos (they're small, get a few), and stuffed mushrooms. Â
The wines though. Seriously, some of the best I've ever had at a wine bar. Â We coasted through our flights and then ordered glasses of wine that we loved from the flight. And then we bought 5 bottles of wine. Epic fail for the bank account, epic win for our tummies, our tastebuds, and our marriage.
I love this place and recommend anyone who likes wine and the downtown area to check this out. One of the best discoveries in a long time! Can't wait to come back for trivia, happy hour, and their monthly wine educations that sound incredible.
I live approximately 100 feet from this restaurant and I had never been. Now, I have to say, what the hell have I been waiting for!
To paint a picture for you - Saturday night, he bar/restaurant is lively, but not so crowded you wouldn't be able to get a table if you walked right in. Now this may change in the coming months, but for now you should take advantage of this wonderful little arts district gem. After being greeted and seated within a second of walking in, the hostess poured us a delicious complimentary sparkling red wine which was complimented by music from a small dj station creating a great ambiance.
The decor and overall atmosphere was like sitting in a lively friends loft in NYC. Doesn't get much better than that, at least for me.
They are a wine bar, so get the flight of wine - but they also have a very extensive beer list.
Food wise - delicious. Everything is tapas style, so go ahead and get crazy and order a bunch of different things. Our waiter was awesome, seriously, so friendly, and you could tell he loved his job and was truly passionate about wine. Take his recommendations if you want, you won't be disappointed. Fyi the food comes out super fast and so is the attentive service. We had the tacos, order four at least because they are small. As well as the Greek nachos - bomb. Potatoes bravas were great and full of flavor but ask for extra aeoli. They also have a great cheese and meat plate, which you can never go wrong with, am I right?
Anyway, to sum, overall wonderful experience. I will be going back again and again, not only to support my local restaurant but because it was a truly enjoyable dinner. I've seen three restaurants go out of business in this location in just the past 2 and half years but I think the pour hause is here to stay.
Wow.. who knew this all existed in the middle of the ghetto.. the street is nice.. but if you go on the side streets to park, I won't lie.. there are a bunch of Asian food companies that makes this area an odd spot to start a wine bar.
This place is friendly.. nice but casual.. and pretty affordable. Â We are talking $10-13 for a flight of 3 wines. Â I pay way more usually...
They do give you popcorn.. I don't know if they use truffle oil.. I honestly wasn't that big of a fan of this. Â We also tried the different types of chocolate (forgot the name of the dessert) and the mac & cheese (loved that they served it with sriracha).
DId I mention.. the wines are delicious?! Â I tried the petite syrah and it was heaven! Â I almost bought a bottle but then I decided to just head back here one day again.
They also have board games.. don't rush you.. and somehow have the perfect number of tables for the number of people who come in. Â I didn't see anybody wait for a table.
I will be back again.. and funny thing, it's the same name as a pub in Boston I used to go to. Â Believe me.. that wasn't that nice.
I was very impressed with this place! My friends and I came here after bar hopping from other hot spots earlier in the night, and this place was the clear standout for me.
Massive wine selection, delicious appetizers, board games galore, and a friendly/knowledgable owner all made for a fantastic experience! Highly recommended for a group of friends wanting to reconnect without the hustle and bustle of a loud bar atmosphere.
First things first - the name is in terrible taste. Â Pour Haus is a bar that caters, for the most part, to white people with enough cash to spend out on fancy beer and wine. Â It's located pretty close to skid row, where homeless people sleep in sidewalk tents every night. Â "Pour Haus" is not only offensive - it's not particularly clever, either. Â So really, fuck the name.
That said, I liked the place. Â I went with three girlfriends for Esther A.'s birthday, after dinner at Church & State a few doors down. Â It was a rainy Friday night, and the place was pretty busy. Â Thankfully, the interior did not adopt a poorhouse theme, though I have no doubt that this was considered. Â Instead, there was a small bar and a handful of wooden tables with high chairs. Â There were walls carved with lit cubbies housing various bottles of wine. Â A chalkboard beer list occupied another, and the selection looked quite promising, if a bit on the pricey side. Â The atmosphere was nice and low key, with a music selection that made us nostalgic for our high school days.
Service was fine, not great. Â It took us longer than it should have to get our table ready, and the staff wasn't especially friendly. Â We did get complimentary popcorn. Â If you love complimentary popcorn, Pour Haus is a good place for you.
The four of us shared a bottle of wine from the very reasonable wine list. Â Most bottles seemed to be in the $20 to $30 range, and they were much cheaper by the bottle than by the glass. Â We got the 2010 Santa Julia Malbec Reserva, a fruity full-bodied malbec from Mendoza, Argentina. Â The bottle cost $24. Â It was good, and pretty cheap drinking. Â I actually think the beer and wine prices are mismatched - the beer says high-end gastropub and the wine says budget wine bar. Â I guess there's nothing wrong with that.
If you're looking for a wine bar in this part of town, Pour Haus is a good, affordable option. Â Not affordable for the demographic it's explicitly mocking, but the average hipster or yuppie will come out fine.
Oh my goodness, I can't speak highly enough about this little gem! I went on a saturday night around 5:30 or 6pm and it was happy hour until 7! Great deals!
The service was flawless! The manager poured us some different wines to taste here and there. We asked about a cab and he said he had a delish full bodied merlot blend that wasn't on happy hour but opened it for us anyways (and at happy hour price)! So good!
We snacked on the oxtail tacos and flatbread artichoke pizza. Yummy. We even got free popcorn! It was so nice and relaxing. Everyone was super sweet and they even had board games for us to play! We chose scrabble :]
We will be back in a heartbeat.
*4.5 stars*
Awesome, unassuming wine bar in Downtown. Very simple decor with low-lighting and low-volume (great for dates or catching up with a friend).
Excellent selection of Malbec varieties (my favorite wine). Huge selection of wines.
Smores dessert was okay, but nothing great
Board games are available for those who hate talking to the people they are with.
I really like this bar, good selection of wine, dont afraid to ask, they have more than it says on menu!there are also a lot of board games, its a cool idea to have it at the bar!food is okay, but I only tried zucchini salad,ox tail sliders and cheese plates
Atmosphere is good and service is always good
I sort of didn't want to write a review about this place because I'm afraid it will get too crowded after people find out about this hidden gem in the Arts District. But alas, I can not be so greedy and selfish to fellow Yelpers that have helped me find so many hidden gems. Therefore, I have to share my fun night here with everyone.
This place is a wine and beer place. They have wine flights for those who want to sample a variety of wines. You can also order by the glass or bottle. And if you enjoy what you tried, they sell bottles for you to take home as well. They also have a huge variety of beer that come from all parts of the world.
My friend and I came here for our last stop for our girl's night in the Arts District. Once you choose a spot to sit, you'll be brought a cup of sparkling red wine to sample and a bowl of truffle oil popcorn for free. Both were super delicious!
My friend ordered the wine flight for $10 and I ordered a glass of wine for $7. We also ordered a "mix and match" cheese and charcuterie plate. You can choose from a variety of meats and cheeses listed on the giant blackboard wall. For the cheeses, they have a variety of mild and stinky cheeses, and also a variety of animals (cow, goat or sheep milk). You can order a minimum of 4 items to a maximum of 9 items on your plate. All plates comes with bread, crackers, nuts, dried fruit, jam and jelly, and dates. We opted for 4 items: Port Salut (cow cheese), Manchego (sheep cheese), Proscuitto and Salame. All paired really well with the provided accompaniments and wine.
They also have a lot of board games to choose from while you sit and have a relaxing evening with good company. I love that the place is very laid back and unpretentious. The prices are very reasonable and the service is great.
I hope this place won't get too popular too quickly, because its such a great place to spend some quality time with friends over wine and cheese!
Parking: Street parking.
Can I tell you how much I love any place that provides access to free board games?
Wine + beer + board games = genius.
They get you started off on the right foot with a complimentary little pour of lambrusco and a serving of truffle popcorn. The wine flights are definitely more for the casual drinker rather than the aficionado, with much of the selection running towards the "drinkable" side. They also have other options, even by the glass, that you can ask about if none on the list really strike your fancy.
A pleasant surprise was the long list of craft brews. When ordering, ask about the bottle sizes if you're not certain, as it's not listed. For example, anything from The Bruery is likely to come in a 750ml.
The casual vibe is refreshing, and this place definitely seems to be built as a crowd pleaser as there's something for most, especially those who might dislike or be intimidated by wine.
I was curious as to what replaced Swill Automatic. First thing I noticed when I walked into this place was the fact that all the automatic wine dispensers were gone and replaced with shelving. A friendly waiter greeted us and started us off with a sample of Lambrusco and a menu. Their menu listed many reasonably priced wines, beer, and snacks. We ordered a bottle of their spumante which was decent. Our waiter chilled the bottle although he gave us the option of whether to chill the bottle or not which I found to be rather odd. The interior of this place hasn't changed much since Swill. The thing I noticed about our waiter is that he didn't know how to pour our drink in our glasses as he poured our sparkling wine so that it would foam up significantly. Also, our waiter gave us a complementary bowl of popcorn which was a nice touch.
I still would be cautious about parking in this neighborhood as it is not the safest or developed at all. If you come to this place, make sure that someone is accompanying you at all times.
Came here inadvertently on Trivia Tuesday and had a blast. Â
They don't have a ton of wine choices (maybe 20 total?) but they have a ton of beers that are listed on the chalkboard. Â I don't remember the specific wines I had - I tried 3 and only liked the one that I got on the bartender's recommendation. Â They were all reds. Â
The bartenders are very friendly and the wine comes very quickly, although the food took a while. Â We ordered the pita with dips, which were hummus, a roasted tomato, and an artichoke dip. Â The artichoke dip was really boring but I liked the other two. Â
We arrived midway through the trivia game, and came in second to last. Â hehehe. Â Everyone was friendly though, and they did a great job fostering a fun environment. Â They also have board games stacked up on one side. Â I would definitely come back here to hang out and have a couple drinks with friends.
I'd be tempted to award them five stars purely for the name alone. Timely, clever, funny. Fortunately they earn it for more pertinent reasons like free endless popcorn.
Located on the surprisingly vibrant but appropriately named Industrial Street in the downtown Arts District area east of Little Tokyo, it's a hop, skip and inebriated stumble away from Church & State and Little Bear.
First off, they're very accommodating and kind here. There is a nice patio on the side of the wine bar that is likely a popular destination on warmer days, but was empty on this cold evening, so they were more than happy to have us and our two kids lounge about singing silly songs, nibbling cheese and charcuterie, drinking wine. The big people, not the kids of course. The children drank their fermented milk.
They have a really interesting and varied collection of inexpensive and moderately priced boutique wines, and also I believe a selection of craft beers. It's nice to find a place where you can buy quality wine without spending much.
More popcorn please.

Really enjoyed my happy hour at Pour House. We were immediately greeted with a complimentary taste of a sparkling red and a small cup of truffle popcorn. Â Lucky for us, we arrived just in time to take part in the $5 happy hour menu. Â We opted for the bruschetta (heavy on the garlic...the menu described) oxtail tacos and more of that delicious sparkling red. Â The oxtail tacos, though deliciously tender, really lacked flavor. Â Some salsa, tapenade or plain ol' hot sauce would've given it the kick it was missing. Â
From there we designed our own charcuterie plate with 2 cheeses and 2 meats, surrounded by cornichons, guava compote, dried fruit, Â honey, nuts and olives. Charcuterie plates make me very happy. :)
There was a trivia game going on in the bar, that we all managed to get sucked into, as well.
I will definitely be back, Pour Haus. :)
I love the Pour Haus!
The staff is so friendly and helpful. Â I believe that every time that I've been here I got a sample (of wine) to start with (on the house). Â If not every time definitely most of the time.
I find it very reasonably priced. Â I'm not much of a wine drinker but I always find something enjoyable here. Â In addition to wine, they have a great beer selection.
Check out the bottles to go! Â I was amazed that their prices are so reasonable, store or market prices, not what I'd expect from a restaurant or wine bar.
The food is good.  I really recommend the stuffed peppers  mmmmmmm  :)
HH's daily @ 4 - 7 PM Â (+1)
Select glass of red, white/ sparkling wine for $5 & assorted menu items.. =) +1
The beer on tap (usually local or regional) for $3 a pint.
Casual wine bar where customers earn a complimentary taste of cava and some truffle popcorn.
Stay until 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and enjoy their Action Trivia night.. =)
On Sundays @3 p.m., there's Bladder Busters, when the draught beer is $2
You can pour your own craft beer or Jameson shots right at your table. +1
*BUT this is Within reason: A computerized system tracks and limits consumption.
Whiskey lovers will definitely enjoy their 10 pages long menu =)
Decor of the front bar is open and airy, Â but their backroom bar has a prohibition era feel to it; with its kool wallpaper, dropped ceiling and dim lighting make this an intimate cozy setting for everyone to enjoy. Â +1
The backroom is where events such as: Monday craft beer night and Wednesday whiskey club are held. ;)
Shots of Jack Daniels is $2 whenever a train rumbles by.
It's only open until midnight on the weekends, but he bar usually won't kick you out until 1:30am =)
Pretty cool little spot near the art district/ Greyhound station...
Came here to check out the wines, since my gf loves her wines. Â
So its $10 bucks for 3 tastings. Â Otherwise you can buy a glass of wine at $7. Bottles were going for $20-25 each. Â They have a happy hour and glasses go for $5.
Food is also available. Not a big menu. Didnt try the food, but menu looked promising.
Service was spot on. Â As soon as we sat down, our server came over with a small bowl of popcorn plus we both got samples of one of their house wines.
All in all, good little place that needs to be checked out.
Fantastic wine bar in some industrial section of Los Angeles. Â The staff are super friendly, the wine delicious, small plates were delicious (white pizza, stuffed mushrooms, and something else), and the ambiance romantic. Â One bit of warning, if you park in the nearby lots, be sure you get back by 1 a.m. Â My lot closed and I had to skip the fence. Â Just be careful.
The owner kept the place open late to accommodate her customers. Â Very very nice of her to do that. Â I'd highly recommend Pour Haus.
After going to a Yelp event held at Pour Haus, I knew I had to go back on my own to sample the different wines and plates this wine bar offered. I came on a late Friday night, and the outside patio was full. The inside, however, wasn't too busy.
I like the setup and decor of the wine bar; the high tables and chairs are a nice touch. There's also a huge board along one wall that lists the different beers and menu items available. The menu is pretty extensive for a small wine bar, ranging from wines and beers to meat & cheese plates and sandwiches.
My boyfriend and I each sampled a flight of 3 wines (I think it was $10-12 each); we chose only red wines and enjoyed most of them. We also ordered a $14 cheese & charcuterie plate (we chose capicola & proscuitto for our meats along with 2 soft creamy cheeses). The amount of charcuterie was much less than we expected, but the quality wasn't bad. I asked for cheeses that were similar to brie, and the waitress suggested good ones (sadly I don't remember which ones). The plate also came with crackers & bread (you can ask for more for free), nuts, olives, dried cranberries, apricot jam, and truffled honey--delicious!
Service was great. The waitress was friendly, checked on us often, and gave us good suggestions. On top of the good service, we were immediately served free bowls of truffle popcorn and free glasses of Lambrusco upon sitting down.
Parking is pretty easy in this area. There's a parking garage, but you can also get free street parking nearby.
This is a nice place to go to in Downtown LA when you want to enjoy decently priced wine and snacks while having a good conversation with your group (as opposed to the loud, crowded bars in DTLA). I will be back the next time I'm in the area.
