Stopped by for a late lunch at what must have been shift change. Â We were essentially the only people there (a family was leaving as we got there)
We ordered a few slices, glasses of water and sangria. Â The pizza was good - at the time our options were pepperoni and cheese. Â The cheese was good and the pepperoni was good but very greasy (like a pouring off the pizza when picked up to eat). Â The sangria was good; however there was way too much ice in the glass and very little sangria. Â We had to ask 3 times for the water.
As I mentioned, it was at shift change  and our server asked us to settle our tab as her shift was ending...not sure why she couldn't have just transferred us to the new waitress  (unless she wanted her tip before leaving) and we got to here a new employee getting introduced to her training and having a very brief orientation.  Part of this was our server (who must have been the owner and/or manager kept stressing how important it was to be nice to her customers...I thought it a bit ironic as she had given us the impression that we were inconveniencing her.
Also, the manager or owner had my human resources training tingling as she asked the new girl to write down her contact info and social security number on a piece of paper (hope an I-9 is coming soon)
Food was pretty good; however there are a lot of options in North End that offer better service. Â I was also a bit shocked by the cost - 2 slices and 2 glasses of sangria were over $30
We love these kind of local restaurants! Very small yet affordable! On this night we ordered salad for three and a Pepperoni -peppers pizza. The Red Sox game was playing on the tv which added to the experience. Saad and Pizza were awesome fresh and not too heavy! Definitely a come back!
Review Source:Fantastic for an inexpensive and delicious lunch! Avoid the Hanover St. restaurants and just one block happen upon this locals hangout. The pizza was really delicious with a great balance of dough, sauce and topping. We split the house salad, which was made with fresh crispy lettuce, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms tossed in a vinaigrette. If I lived in Boston, this would be a regular haunt for me and my friends.
