This was our first visit to T Murray's, and we were impressed. Love the decor, the dark, rich woods, exposed brick walls, etc. the bar was our first stop, and the drinks are pretty good....a little on the pricey side, but still good. The appetizers were nice, liked the flash fried calamari and pepperocini peppers. Had "The Mac" Mac  and cheese with shrimp and jalapeños. Good stuff. My girlfriend had the Fried Grouper Sandwich, and wow, that was awesome.
The place is worth a try, and we will be back for sure. Staff is friendly and attentive , food is good , atmosphere is nice.

Did I have a great time at T. Murray's? Why yes, yes I did! Was is because we had amazing service and amazing food? Well no, no it wasn't, because we didn't get that. My great time a T. Murray's was facilitated by great friends and too much wine.

    T. Murray's was A-OK and I am glad I tried it, but it just wasn't my kind of place. Their fryer temp was off and everything they fried was soggy and oily. We had to send back the neat looking ribbon chips to get fried more. I got the burger and the fries were limp, but I didn't send those back. The burger was fine and at this point, not memorable. My boyfriend really enjoyed some kind of fish on top of risotto.

Service was ok. Sometimes responsive, like helping take back the ribbon chips, but sometimes missing in action when water was needed.

Decor was pretty swanky and the ceiling was super high so it makes the place feel big. Eating some apps at the bar might be where it's at here.

We returned to T Murray's tonight and I'm gonna bump them up another star.  We went with small plates again sticking to the eggplant stack, bacon and eggs, mac and cheese and adding the frites.  All were pretty darn awesome and you can't do much better for a nice high variety dinner.  Of course, we had a lot left over.

This time around, the music was a ton better with a nice sprinkling of James Brown between random jazz and blues tunes.

All this with two perfect Maker's Mark Manhattan's make for a happy evening out.

Save your receipt. I got overcharged on a visit there on my american express. The bill was 31.07 and left a 6 dollar tip that totals 37.07, after checking my statement, they charged me 40 flat. Man, I am glad I saved the receipt. I wonder how many people have they scam this way. I have the receipt and the statment to prove it. I'm calling the manager too

After visiting here a second time, this place doesn't deserve 5*, but it is definitely worthy of 3.5/4* still.

I made a reservation online, but they had forgotten to put it down. In addition, there wasn't a hostess at the door, initially, and it took someone 10 mins to come up and take care of the line waiting to be seated. Luckily, we were still able to get a table and no harm was done.

This place is quite loud and sometimes hard to keep a conversation going with all the noise.

Other than that, the food was still great, the prices reasonable, and our waitress was very polite and took great care of us.

No harm done and I'll be back again.

A master bartender - that's one draw at T. Murray's. Another is the excellent happy hour including the food,

But I think it was the intangible ambiance that really attracted me. The joint is warm and comfortable with a mixed crowd of older, younger, diverse people who just seem happy to be there. It has the feel of of a classic Chicago bar - in my opinion - where people talk to each other and are there to have a good time. Tony is great. The staff is great. It's a keeper.

Cool space and this section of High St needs more business, but T Murray's isn't my cup of tea.

Definitely attracts an older crowd, but has a sorta neighborhood feel.  Artistic/Hipster design, but feels a bit dated.  The food is just average at best.  Had the meatloaf.  Came out in tray you would get in cafeteria and didn't taste much better.  Friend had some sort of crab/seafood stack salad thing and was not pleased.  To their credit, service was excellent and they even offered to take other meal off bill because it was barely touched.

Hope things work out for them, but they clearly have some kinks they need to work out.

I really wanted to like this place, but it is just not going to happen. Very nice ambiance, but the lousiest service coupled with a very incompetent operation makes for quite a disaster.

We went as a largish group for a holiday gathering. I overheard the waitress tell someone that they could not arrange separate checks..."that was Tony's policy". We eventually did get separate checks, but the bad taste was already in our mouth.

The beer selection on tap is quite mediocre. I asked what they had in bottles, and the waitress told me there were too many for her to remember and if I told her what I was looking for, she would check to see if they had it.....wow. They do not have a beer menu, for the supposedly large selection. Another waitress brought by 3 bottles of Belgian beers, and I choose one.....seriously, I have never seen this anywhere else. And of course, I have no idea what the beer costs before I order...that was true for all the drinks. What kind of a business model is this....you are expected to place your order without the benefit of knowing the prices.

I cannot tell you about the food, as I had no appetite by this point....and it has only been about 15 minutes.

The checks finally arrived and mine had too many items on it. I pointed it out to the waitress, and received a lot of blatant huffs and puffs.....no shortage of 'tude at this joint. She did get it corrected, and literally tossed the new check at me. I gave her cash, and she barked "Change?". On principle, you should never be asked if you want change back...it cannot be an assumption that a tip is due, it has to be earned. But in this case it almost was as if she was asking if I was going to burden her with yet another inconvenience.

My husband and I have been here a few times for happy hour. The small plate options on the happy hour menu are a steal, especially at the quality - $5 for a big plate of  wings, a nice mac & cheese, and rotating sliders are favorites. However, the service has sometimes been a little lacking. In addition, the drink menu is pretty basic - the cocktails are either pretty plain or haven't been super well-made. I'd stick with the wine or beer!

First time dining at T. Murrays was fantastic. Had a very tasty, unique burger and shared some apps with my party of ten (they were incredibly accommodating for a Friday night). Everything I ate had it's own flair and was very satisfying. The atmosphere was intimate, cool and a little darker. Right on High Street, it fits the historic charm of German Village with the faster, Brewery District. A nice restaurant still at an affordable price in a great location. The beer selection was a bit lacking, but certainly enough to satisfy this hop head.

My husband and I returned to T. Murray's on Sept 1st for dinner with friends. We heard that The Conspiracy Band would be playing there later that night. We had the opportunity of seeing them years ago and remembered them being a lot of fun, so we wanted to see them again.

We had dinner upstairs, they had the lower level set up for the band. Our service was very good. Oddly enough, all four people in our party ended up ordering the same dinner. We had steak with some type of french fries and a small salad. The entire meal was delicious. I wouldn't go all out and say that it was the best steak I've ever had, but it was very good and worth the price they are asking. Drinks from the bar were amazing.

After dinner, we went downstairs to get a spot close to the band. We ordered drinks from the bar downstairs and had the same bartender, John, that we had from my best friends birthday party in July. He remembered me and what I drank from over 6 weeks prior. He took great care of us that evening.

The Conspiracy Band did not let us down. They were amazing! We had a great time. T. Murray's kept the front door open...I imagine to attract customers by letting them hear the music as they walked by. This is my only complaint. It was very hot and humid outside that day. Since the doors were open, the bar was EXTREMELY hot. I have never been in a bar more hot. This did not stop my husband and I from getting out there and dancing. We were dripping with sweat the majority of the night. Gross, I know :)

Thank you T. Murray's and The Conspiracy Band for a fun night!

    T. Murray's is one of those places I want to like REALLY badly. And I do, in an A-OK kind of way. I wanted to like it so badly, that I've gone several times before writing this review. I really wanted to capture a high moment and report here. Alas, "Meh. I've experienced better" continues to be the case.

I want to love T. Murray's so much because I want to support anything in the German Village/Brewery District, as well as anything within walking distance of me. It is my understanding that T. Murray's is the restaurant of the former head bartender of Lindey's, who struck out on his own to administer more casual fare. I can get behind that.

However, for what T. Murray's tries to be, I feel like there are other options nearby that I'd prefer in almost any other category.

    T. Murray's seems like they're striving for that whole craft/vintage/prohibition-era cocktail thing, but the menu is a little basic, if that's what they're going for. I would think that a former bartender would have had a little more fun with the cocktail list. If I'm looking for that, I'd probably rather go to Curio or Sidebar.

For food, it's pretty good, but again, I'd find myself going elsewhere for better versions of similar fare, Columbus Brewing Company, Barcelona, or even Club 185. My last visit was during Restaurant Week. I'm a little conflicted about Restaurant Week menus, because I like the sampling-for-less idea but the menu selections are usually made from less expensive ingredients and more mass-produced than what would be normal for that restaurant, which I totally understand. That's the trade-off with Restaurant Week.

With that said, I loved my "bacon and eggs" appetizer-- deviled eggs and candied bacon. Divine, and the star of the show. My friend ordered the arugula, feta, and watermelon salad (which I didn't order, because I make this at home sometimes), and it barely had any feta or watermelon. I chose the steak for my main, which was pretty nice, if a little forgettable and the steak a tad tough. I love rare steak but the cut was a little tough and probably would have been made more tender with more cooking.

For dessert, RW diners had a choice between chocolate creme brulee and a strawberry shortcake. I loved the shortcake! The biscuit was tender and not too sweet. My table mates originally ordered the creme brulee. Here's where things got bad enough for me to start dropping stars. But first, our server.

Our server was terrible. Here's why:

    - I ordered a bottle of wine for the table. As she was pouring my taste, my dining mate and I were discussing when we thought our third dining mate might arrive. I was distracted from the taste pour, and the server snottily said "um, can you taste that for me please?" I wouldn't have thought much of it had the rest of the night been smooth, but it wasn't. When she showed up, the waitress was more brusque than she should have been.

    - My dining mate and I were very hungry, so we ordered an app to enjoy while we waited for our other friend. He ordered the chips so that they would come out quickly. They weren't served for at LEAST 30 minutes, and just moments before our first course. A waste. We didn't need them then. (They also weren't very good. There was aoili and ketchup drizzled on them, blandest versions of the condiments. Save your calories and belly-room.)I should note that the restaurant was bustling, but did not appear to be unmanageably busy.

    - After we finished our wine, we asked for the wine list again because we were considering getting another bottle, or perhaps a cocktail. The server promptly brought the menu but then we didn't see her again for another 30 minutes AT LEAST. In that time, we decided we didn't need more drinks, as we were done  with our meals and ready to leave for the evening.

    - Back to the brulee. After our entree was finished, the plates were cleared away quickly but our desserts (which we had preordered and are already made up behind the scenes anyways) took forever. After about 30 minutes the waitress came out and said they didn't have any more chocolate brulees. My table mate inquired if there was a replacement-- just the shortcake. Okay, oh well, it happens! They brought our shortcakes. Another long long long wait for the waitress to come back with our checks. Right before we left, we saw another patron being served a chocolate creme brulee. What the heck! The way brulees are, you can't just make more. So was she lying? I just don't understand...

The ambiance is fun! I like the exposed brick, proximity to other establishments, the lighting, and most of the artwork. There's a super weird and mid-90s-ugly mural of dogs and cats drinking, though.

I guess for the money and the neighborhood, you have more reliable options around. If it were just that, I'd be at a 3 star review, a solid A-OK. But the service was just so bad! There are definite positives about T. Murray's, but every time I leave a little disappointed.

If a culinary school student turned in this menu he would get a D, passing, but you should probably get out of the business. A chicken dish, a steak dish, a fish dish, a pasta dish, etc. Nothing inspired or interesting.

Upon reading the menu we opted to go with some small plates since that seemed to be where all the creativity went. After we ordered we saw food arriving from "somewhere" covered like room service. This is when we realized we had made a mistake in coming here.

The small plates arrived and were thoroughly underwhelming. The eggplant stack was cold in the middle and bland all over. The chimichurri kabobs were pretty decent but boring. The $15 "pot roast" nachos were pathetic. We thought the idea of braised meat on a nacho platter was pretty good but it really tasted like JTM slopped on some chips and thrown in the salamander.

T Murray's is clearly a bar first and food second (and a distant second at that). The noise level is not conducive to dining and the food is barely mediocre by bar food standards.

We had three small plates, one cocktail, and one glass of wine. We ate a couple bites of each before giving up to look for a better meal. $60 wasted.

Great place, ordered Salmon with Kale, Pork Chop with smashed red potatos, very nicely done on both counts.  Pub atmosphere, playing great Chicago (the band) songs, but foodie quality fare, definatly  will be back.  By the way, they had a drink menu, had a great Makers Mark Manhattan.  So I'm guessing they read these reviews.

Food was great but the service was terrible. We went for lunch during the middle of the week and the waiter ignored us for a good 30 minutes before taking our order. There seemed to be only 1 person working in the restaurant. He continued to wait on the other tables and fill and re-fill their water but avoided eye contact and gave us the cold shoulder. I usually give restaurants the benefit of the doubt when the service was bad but this took it to the extreme! The only thing that keeps T Murray's from getting zero stars is the food! Everyone was happy with their selection once it finally arrived. If you do decide to give T Murray's a chance I recommend you take note of how many people appear to be working and leave if it's less than 2. If you do stay, try the French Dip sandwich it will melt in your mouth!

Business dinner at T Murray's was amazing. The restaurant accommodated our large group, the waitstaff were incredibly helpful and attentive and our orders came out promptly.

Most importantly- the food.is.amazing. I have so many recommendations because our large table split a bunch of apps and sampled each other's dinner plates. Our table loved the deviled eggs, pot roast nachos, and wings. My turkey meatloaf was yummy and the red deviled mashed potatoes were top notch. Plus the steak was delicious and perfectly cooked to everyone's preferences.

The owner came out and introduced himself to our group and made sure that everyone was enjoying their order. Great restaurant - superb food - solid management.

I think I am going to make this place my new project. I want it to stick around.

Stuck between High Beck, Victories, and Classics on High Street, the location for a more upscale place like this is terrible. But setting that aside, I love the inside, the menu and Murray, himself.

The girls and I were out on the patio at said High Beck, screaming at each other as we couldn't hear over the random, Wednesday night band... yes, we are old and music is loud now. We walked next door in the hopes of some quiet beer and appetizers.

Pot roast nachos... Pot.roast.nachos... what? Fantastic. They were fast and delivered by the hysterical and friendly owner. We had 2 helpings. My domestic bottled beer was cold. This is really all I care about. I will be back.

I stopped in today for lunch with a friend, it was around 1pm on a Wednesday afternoon and there were only a couple other tables occupied no wait!  We started off lunch with the "Slider of the day"  It happened to be Cajun cheeseburgers jalapeno  I only have a burger maybe once or twice a year, and trust me this one was great!  I like veggies on my burger and these came only with a jalapeno slice, sans any condiments.  Added a little mayo and it was delish!
I ordered the Chopped Chicken salad for my entree, it was very good, house made buttermilk scallion dressing, and very heavy on chopped veggies, with sliced chicken that almost tasted like it could have been rotisserie.

Great, friendly service.  Will be returning to check out dinner!

Since T. Murray's opened up last year, I've visited a several times during lunch.  In fact, it's definitely on the top of my lunch rotation list.  Though I've never been blown away by the food, it's always been delicious and consistent.  Any place that has a killer Italian sandwich like the Imported Italian gets my vote of confidence.  And I love the fact that it serves its shoestring fries with an olive tapenade-like dipping sauce like the bistro inside Nordstrom's.  Yum!  Recently, however, I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent customer service the restaurant provided.

About a month ago, two of my friends and I went to lunch there.  They had never been before and I was excited for them to try out the restaurant.  My friends ordered the Imported Italian (due to my rave reviews) and I got a Caesar salad with anchovies and the Really Good Chicken Stew.  As usual, the food was well prepared and delicious.  The Really Good Chicken Stew was savory and comforting, and on a splendidly rainy day, it hit the spot perfectly.  The puff pastry rounds that accompanied the stew were a welcome accompaniment.  At the end of our meal, I had enough of the stew left over to take home with me.  The manager kindly boxed it up for me.

When I reached home and got out of the car, disaster ensued.  The stew had been placed not in a plastic carryout container with a tightly fitting lid, but a styrofoam sandwich box with a tab enclosure.  No one warned me to that the stew was not properly contained.  During my drive home, the stew sloshed around and leaked through, and as a result, when I grabbed the doggie bag while leaving the car, some of it ended up on me.  Moreover, I no longer had delicious leftovers--a serious problem.

Needless to say, I was more than irritated.  I placed an angry call to T Murray's.  Though I tried to remain calm, the dripping stew made me speak quite harshly with the manager.  However, the manager's calm and professional manner quickly calmed me down. He remembered me and profusely apologized for packaging the stew inappropriately.  Moreover, he even offered to send me a gift card.  The gift card arrived promptly the next day, accompanied by a kind note.  While ordinarily I would have written off T. Murray's from my lunch rotation list due to the incident, the manager's professionalism overall solidified its spot.  I will be soon returning to you, Imported Italian and shoestring fries with that awesome dipping sauce.

Moral of the story:  If you mess up and own up to it, your customers will still love you .

really enjoy casual, professional, classy atmosphere.  it's close to work and makes for a great last minute stop for happy hour cocktails....and even has been good enough to make the trip from the 'burbs to drop in.  Beside the fact that Tony has been a long time friend, staff has bent over backwards to be freindly and top flight.  Would recomend to anyone....and if your experience has been less than you had hoped, allow for a 2nd chance....it will be worth it!

We came here for restaurant week and thought the food was pretty good.  Atmosphere was warm and inviting, we really liked the upstairs seating.  Eggplant stack app was really good and the mac and cheese was awesome, you could eat that for a whole meal.  Deviled eggs were also good. Mahi Mahi was slightly over cooked but still good and the risotto was delicious.  Others ordered the chicken and meatloaf which were both good.  Desserts were all really good as well.

My first time into T Murray's and I wish I had tried it sooner.  With all of my favorite dives being close by, it is a refreshing mid-upscale place that you can visit after work and feel comfortable in business-business casual attire or more ..or less.  I had the stacked shrimp salad.  The presentation was modern and the salad was delicious.   The whole menu looks great and a very good incentive to come back.  If the menu or great drinks don't bring you back the stellar service just may.  With Tony and his attentive/friendly bar staff you will feel like you belong here. I'll be back for sure!

Came here for Restaurant Week with a bunch of friends. The food as a whole was amazing. I ended up with the Meatloaf, which was nicely cooked. I was a little taken aback by the coloring of it, but hey, it's meatloaf! The table ordered the deviled eggs, which I do not eat, but everyone else seemed to enjoy them.

I wish they had a few less expensive items on the menu, as this would be a great neighborhood place to come on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening.

I've been wanting to try T. Murray's since it opened and I'm so glad I finally made it happen!

This place is a wonderful addition to the brewery district.  I think it has a much different  feel than most of the other bars/restaurants in the area...and in a good way.  It's still casual, but seemed like more a young professional/business crowd.  The decor is perfect and inviting.  I love the huge long bar and hight top tables, but then also having larger dinner-type tables tucked in the back part of the restaurant and along the sides.

We had fabulous service..attentive, but not annoying.  I agree that the beer selection isn't huge, but they definitely have excellent choices.  I went with a lemon drop martini that was delicious.  We only split some apps this time, but both were amazing (sweet-chili wings and spinach/goatchees wontons).  I would definitely love to try everything on the menu.

Now, I would give it 5 stars, but I'm a happy hour girl and I felt like they could have had slightly better drink specials ($5 martinis would make me very happy).  But honestly, that's being picky as it was great in terms of everything else.

Checked this place for Restaurant Week and were glad we did.  A casual bar-scene place, but classy.  The staff was very friendly, with many helpful menu suggestions that were right on the money, including a good wine-pairing.  Recommend trying the turkey meatloaf with the Malbec.

They mentioned they'll be having a wine and app event on the last Wednesday of every month.  We may have to go back and give it a try.

I really liked T Murray's.  It's a fun concept, on two floors in a old building with exposed brick walls.  High energy, fun crowd, great menu, great sever, just an overall great experience.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVED the eggplant  stack appetizer, I've been craving it since I had it and am looking forward to having it again very soon!

Salads were inventive and well presented as were the entrees.

Great wine selection, beer selection was somewhat "limited", but well chosen.  I say "limited" because we have all  become such snobs if a restaurant doesn't have a large selection.  The selects T Murray's did have were very well chosen to go with certain entrees on the menu.

Personal [editorial] note - It's a shame that "Rebekah P." was the first reviewer.  Really not sure what she had against the T Murray's.  I cannot say that I agree with ANYTHING that she wrote, and she took so much time writing it that I question her motivation (i.e. does a friend or family member own a close-by restaurant)?  One has to wonder.

Rebekah P. says the eggplant stack tasted like vomit - really?  Apparently you don't know your cheeses very well Rebekah P., because broiled Fontina will develop an intense and pungent flavor.  I really get ticked at people who give bad reviews to a restaurant for a food that they did not know well enough to order.

If you're looking for a new place for happy hour, check this place out. They have a handful of specially priced appetizers/drinks, and if they're all as good as the ones I tried, you're in for some good food no matter what you order. In addition to their quality food, the atmosphere is cozy with dark wood floors, high celings, and soft lighting.

My friend and I split their salmon sliders. Each was of typical slider size and made of fresh salmon. They were full of flavor and left me wishing I had gotten my own order! The sliders on the menu change from time to time, so I'm curious as to what others they have offered.

The eggplant stack is awesome. I couldn't stop stealing bites from my friend's plate! It kind of reminded me of eggplant parmesan with a hearty tomato sauce and creamy melted cheese. I will be ordering this on my next visit! I can also vouch for their house-made shoestring fries- yum!

While I've only had their appetizers, I am looking forward to the next time I come here, so I can try their entrees!

Food was OK. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was fantastic either. I found some of the food combinations odd. Bread rolls came with a dipping plate of olive oil and balsamic, and the iceberg wedge came with spiced candied pecans. I guess I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to "comfort food"... I want butter with my rolls and bacon bits on my wedge. My husband had the turkey meatloaf which was tasty, nothing fancy, just a simple, well done meal. I ordered the clams for dinner, which was a very large portion of really fresh shellfish with great flavor. However the dish was way over salted. WAY WAY over salted, almost to the point where it might have altered my blood pressure. I think the highlight of my meal was my cocktail. The Moscow Mule - vodka, fresh lime juice and a splash of ginger beer. It was refreshing and delicious and perfectly mixed. The bartender gets 5 stars.

Husband and I scheduled a date night and searched for a new spot to check out. Figured from the reviews we would have a pretty good experience. While the food was good the service was a bit spotty.

The interior of the place is very nice. They take advantage of the height of the ceilings with beautiful wood covered columns and a large bar. Dark tables and floors give an a very elegant look.  A women playing some Sade on a keyboard rounded out the Lindeys "light" atmosphere.

On to our waiter, while a friendly bloke not the most attentive. A previous reviewer complained of the gossiping going on at the bar between the staff. i can see that happening on a regular basis. our server was not immune. The food runner did a better job. In their defense they are hampered by only having one terminal to enter food and drink orders. This made the service even slower in my opinion.

Food was good however my pork chop wasn't the most tender cut. The mash potatoes, green beans and pineapple salsa that came on/with it were very good. Would almost have been better as a fish dish. Mike's turkey meatloaf was good. Portions were nice size for what you were paying.

We wouldn't rush back but glad a restaurant taking a stab at what was once a happening part of town.

beer at the high beck was a good palette cleanser.

    T. Murray's a great addition to the Brewery District.  I've been there three times, and each visit has exceeded expectations.

The first time, I sat at the bar for a quick dinner after work shortly after the place opened.  The bar's bourbon selection is good (my measuring stick for all bars), but the bartender (an anonymous dude who I haven't seen since) didn't know what they had.  The turkey meatloaf was good, but it's turkey meatloaf right?  Still, a good start.

For the second visit, the wife and I stopped in after an awful (in every way) dinner at an unnamed, airport-area restaurant decorated like a World War I French farmhouse.  Downstairs at T Murray's was packed, so we went to the upstairs bar and met bartender Andi.  After a couple Perfect Manhattans and the ribbon chips, we were good to go.  Andi was deliberate in mixing the cocktails, and the chips were a tasty postcript to our earlier dining disaster.

Third time's the charm.  This time, we came in early on a Saturday and the place was slow.  We sat at the downstairs bar this time, and Andi was the bartender again: "Perfect Manhattan, right?"  Score!  Now that's a bartender I could follow around. The mussels, snapper, and risotto were all spot on.  The risotto was basically "dirty risotto," with sausage and a hearty, chicken-y flavor.

This could be a very good gastropub, and I'm looking forward to T Murray's growing into its space.

WOW!  What a disappointment.  I went in there last night with my Dad and two brother's to check the place out.  We sat down and the waitress gave us a menu and a wine menu.  We asked for a drink menu and she said they don't have one.  "Tony will make whatever you want!"  When I go to a restaurant I like to see the special drinks the bartender can make.  I don't care if "Tony" came from Lindey's and was the best bartender ever.  I want to see the signature drinks. So right off the bat I was a little disappointed.

Then I get to the menu.  Can I say BORING.  Nothing stuck out on the menu.  I was expecting some carryover from Lindey's with some new twist considering this place got such wonderful reviews.

We decided to start with some appetizers.  The server suggested the blue ribbon chips and the eggplant stack.  They both sound appetizing so we went for it.  Little to say it took 30 minutes to get our appetizers and we were the biggest table there.  The restaurant wasn't even a fourth filled.  So we get the signature "blue ribbon" chips.  First of all they were cold and supposed to come out fresh.  There was a splash of ketchup and mayo on the chips...not appetizing at all.

About ten minutes later our eggplant stack that is supposed to be Tony's favorite came out.  It looked like a soggy meatloaf.  We proceeded to try it and the sauce literally had a vomity taste to it. The four of us barely touched it.

By this time we in no way were staying for dinner.  The waitress came over and asked how everything was and we were honest and said not good at all.  She was very sweet and apologized and said Tony would be over to talk with us.

HA!  That never happened.  He was too busy chatting at the bar.  I'm sorry, but if you are the owner of a new restaurant and your customers were not digging your food...I would think you would come over and speak to them and ask for their feedback.

    We left after this.

The reason why I am giving this place one star is because of our server.  She was very polite and attentive.  She was trying her best and it was not her fault.

One last side note.  I have never given a restaurant one star.  I am not that picky.  I just was in shock that a man that worked at Lindey's so long could not come up with a better menu and better managing skills.

I have to say I do not think this restaurant will be there long. As a restaurat owner,  if you can't have decent food and a cocktail list you really need to reavaluate your restaurant and the way you run things. I hate to be so negative but this was my experience there.

    Cheers!

Last night I went to T. Murray's for my dad's birthday before heading over to Glam Jam. It's a new place right next to High Beck and another contribution to the revamping of the Brewery District/Downtown area. We got there around 7 PM, it wasn't overpacked, it was busy though, especially for a restaurant that is new and not participating in Restaurant Week.

A few people on Columbus Underground initially said that the place is noisy, it has brick walls and few pieces of art on the walls or other decor besides murals to absorb the sound, so yes it is noisy, but no louder than say, Marcella's is. It is two levels, which I love, I think it would be an excellent party venue with the rat pack decor, good drinks, and a pretty decent selection of food on the menu.

As far as drinks go, I had the Lemon Drop, and had Tony Murray the former bartender at Lindey's who now is the owner of this establishment make it... I think this was the best drink I have ever had. I'm not kidding, I could drink 15 of them and just feel as refreshed as the first. I want to go back to try their other selections though, they had pretty good beer choices, about 10 reds, 10 whites on the wine list, and a few bottle choices for champagne.

Service was prompt and our server seemed very knowledgeable and friendly.

My sister came with us too, she is a vegetarian, we tried to order things that would be friendly to her dietary preference but it was kind if hard, though we were told they can make a lot of the items vegetarian. We got the eggplant stack, picked out the prosciutto, it was EXCELLENT. It's a good portion size for a sampler for two-three people. The chip appetizer with sriracha ketchup was good too, but it wasn't memorable like the eggplant. She got a margherita pizza for her entree, which tasted very good. My dad's burger was able to be cooked blackened, I had a bite of it and it is not only a large burger portion but they know what they are doing with that beef in the kitchen, yum. One thing I saw come out that I want to try when I go back (yes, when), was the Arugula and Milanese.

They have a few kinks to work out, i.e. parking (they do have valet), noise, and the vegetarian choices, but I think they are off to an excellent start.
