Telegraph Hill

I really want to like this place more than i do.  Everything is average, except the location.

I lived in Southie for several years and never made it over to Telegraph Hill. I went there last night with a friend who had raved about it since its opening. I went in with an open mind, but ended up very disappointed.

The waitress had a table of her friends at the restaurant next to us and spent the bulk of the time socializing with them. Normally that wouldn't bother me, but the lack of attention we received resulted in my order being incorrect. They had a special for a hot buttered lobster roll with onion rings which I ordered but was served a cold lobster roll dripping with mayonnaise with a side of undercooked french fries. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she rolled her eyes and brought out a side of overly battered and unpleasant tasting onion rings. We had also split a fried mozzarella appetizer, which I'm pretty sure was purchased in the frozen foods section of Stop & Shop. The service was subpar and the food overpriced and unimpressive. There are several fabulous places in Southie to grab a bite and a beer, and sadly this is not one of them. If you're looking for a better option, try Local 149 or Barlow's-great food, better ambiance and infinitely better service.

A great place to go for lunch or dinner, I don't think I've had anything on the menu that I didn't love.  Whatever is going on in the kitchen I don't know but they have it figured out.  The overall look of the restaurant is very new and modern.  It's not a big place at all but it's size creates a comfortable atmosphere that works.
