Literally felt like I was walking into a J. Crew catalog- probably the preppiest bar I have ever been to. That being said, it had a very pleasant ambiance. There were a number of outdoor spaces with decorative lights.

It was quite crowded, but not too loud. A good place for mingling and being with friends, not so much for dancing.

This has become one of the spots in the Georgetown/Glover Park area. Good choices for beer. For a bar it has really good pub food. It's a great place to lounge and hang out with friends.

This place is a neighborhood staple. I've been here mostly for breakfast, since it's within walking distance, has decent food, and rarely has a wait. I recently took my parents here over graduation weekend; it wasn't my first choice, but it was easy. By 7 pm. on a Saturday night, it was hopping. They did their best to accommodate us in their "quieter" dining room, but the overhead noise was pretty ridiculous. I guess you have to take it for what it is -- not so much a "restaurant" as a bar with a well-rounded menu, popular with mid-late 20 year-olds and then some, who are looking for a good time and someone to go home with, or recovering from said night. ;)

My bf's sister and her friends had a graduation happy hour here in the upstairs bar and outdoor area. It was a cute place with great outdoor space both up and downstairs. They had a good selection of wine and the food that was served was also pretty tasty for bar food. My bf's sister said the bar generally attracted and "older/ young professionals" crowd (which basically means my age, which is probably why I liked it).

I would definitely love to come back here for a casual drink next time I'm in the area.

Was here fora Kentucky Derby party a few weeks ago and had a blast. The drink specials were great and the bar staff was very attentive. Hope to return for brunch at some point in the future.

This was a very last minute choice for a mother's-day brunch. Mother-in-law suggested Georgetown and we chose it because open table showed availability for the time we wanted to eat.

WOW! How lucky were we?!! We were shown to a perfectly sized booth that sat the 6 of us with room to spare. We started off with hefty bloody marys and ordered both the buffalo wings and jerk wings for apps. We literally licked the plates clean. The jerk wings were some of the best we've tried.

Most of us went for the brunch options, including delicious french toast, egg-white omelets, the "muffin" (think up-scale egg mcmuffin) and the huevos rancheros. The egg dishes came with a side of home-style potatoes nicely crisped. One opted for the burger which was big and juicy, served on a lovely brioche. The only dish not fully consumed was the sizeable order of french toast - and that was even after a couple of passes around the table!

Everything came to the table piping hot. Service was spot-on. And, we continued to rave about our brunch throughout the afternoon.

Town Hall has now been placed on our short list for dinner service. We can't wait to go back. Thank you for a fabulous mother's day!

I went to Town Hall last weekend for the first time. I tried it for brunch and really liked it.

We went during prime brunching time on a Sunday but still had no trouble getting a table. My fiance liked that there were TV's around and I liked that it didn't feel like a sports bar.

We also both commented that we liked the music they were playing. Not too loud, but loud enough that you could hear it.

The service was really friendly and attentive and the overall atmosphere was very nice. I ordered the heuvos rancheros and loved it. My fiance ordered the french toast and said he also liked it a lot. We shared both of our meals and were pretty stuffed at the end.

I wish it was in a more convenient area - Glover Park isn't the most metro accessible place, but we drive a lot so that's not a problem for us.

I'd definitely like to try it again for dinner or during happy hour.

Cool place, seemed like lots of Georgetown kids. Pretty preppy. Food wasn't bad and in good location. Parking can be tough around there but that's DC. I think we parked at the whole food across the street and just bought some groceries after. Good ambience, I'd say good for dates, or watching a game in their bar. Food is probably a 3 star IMO.

note: I haven't dined here so this review has nothing to do with the food or service.

However, I loved the multiple bars, rooms, outdoor space and tent with space heaters. Lots of good looking people and quick to the tip bartenders. The decor was nice too. I will return.

Follow the locals and go where they go, or where their relatives work anyways. After a great recommendation for their pancakes, we headed to Town Hall for Brunch one Sunday morning. The outside is a bit unassuming, nice small brick building that gave you the impression the restaurant was tiny. We sat in the right dinning room where it had a great ambiance. I love the rustic barnyard booths. They were large enough to seat 6-8 and is great for larger groups.

I ordered the Huevos Racheros with the crispy tortilla. It was fantastic. Looking around our table, all the plates were very carefully crafted. You didn't just get your traditional eggs, potatoes and bacon thrown on a plate. I'm not sure who the chef is but they absolutely know what they are doing and take great pride in it. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd absolutely like to see what they can do with the dinner menu!

5 stars for Town Hall's brunch. We're a young family in the neighborhood - had never thought to try Town Hall because it's clearly the "go-to" drink spot for the preppy 20-something crowd.

Wow were we surprised when we first went for brunch a few months ago. Let's just say we've been back QUITE a few times - what a gem! The blueberry pancakes and sausage are incredible - truly. The eggs benedict is fanastic. Friends loved the huevos rancheros.

The atmosphere is laid back and charming. We especially appreciated their Christmas decor - so festive and tasteful. Lucky to have them close by!

This is still my all time favorite brunch spot. I wanted to update my review since they have moved locations.

The new location is bigger and even more welcoming. The owner always remembers our faces and goes out of his way to make us feel at home. After redeeming a Groupon on one of my visits, my friends went in for brunch on a different day and had some confusion using a Groupon of their own. The next time I visited with them, the owner came by at the end of our meal and apologized for any inconvenience on my friends' last visit and graciously took care of the bill for us! I value establishments where guests are treated with this much care and respect. Town Hall definitely makes you feel like you are a priority as their customer. Classy!

I went in this past Sunday to treat my foodie friend in town from London to brunch. She has a refined palette and very high restaurant standards. I'm thrilled that she loved her huevos rancheros. She said it was made perfectly. Our server, Caitlin was so attentive to us, refilling my water often and my friend's coffee promptly throughout our meal.

I highly recommend this place for brunch. They are my favorite, and every person that works there is a joy to be around. I am so looking forward to going back soon. You should come too!

4 Stars for the Town Hall brunch menu. I've been here several times and tend to bring my out-of-town guests here as well. Reasons why:

1 - Laid back, cool atmosphere in the Glover Park area. Good location -- close to Georgetown but without the typical hustle and bustle.
2 - Good brunch choices. Every time I go, I get the Eggs in the Middle. I have never been disappointed - it's always very good.
3 - Great drink choices. I've had the man-mosa and mimosa. My husband is also a fan of the man-mosa.
4 - Good service. I've never had a problem with being served right away. The food is always fresh and hot.

Town Hall is a must-try brunch spot in DC. The menu options are not extensive, but the options I tried were great. I've spent a few visits just catching up with old friends here. It's such a great, casual, easy going spot.

I enjoyed a very nice Sunday dinner here a few weeks ago. Here are some of the highlights:
-They served a complimentary plate of pita chips and a sort of green hummus that was tasty. The chips may have actually been house-made but I'm not sure.
-Bottles of wine were reasonably priced, we had a nice bottle of a white wine- I believe it was an Italian pinot grigio.
-It was our server's first night working and he was great! (I think his name was Josh?) He wanted to make sure we had a good time and checked on us regularly about our dishes.
-All the dishes had a nice presentation.

My only complaint is that the music was a little loud and not really appropriate for the venue, it was like an alternative pop-rock (ie Green Day). Just not the best choice for dinner.

The food was gross but the drinks and bartender were great. We went for brunch and had the Huevos Rancheros and the Chorizo scrambled eggs. The Chorizo definitely was not Chorizo but some sort of mystery meat. And the Huevos rancheros were on a stale corn tortilla with flavorless tomato sauce. We ordered a side of guac which was a bit rancid. Seems like other dishes are better (at least according to the other reviewers) but I would not recommend these two at least-left with a stomach ache. On the other hand the Mimosa, and the Bloody Mary my friend had, were great and the bartender was friendly and gave good service. Seems like the place could be be better if they used fresher and more natural ingredients (and more authentic in the case of the Chorizo) in their dishes.

Went kind of expecting a cozy pub-ish atmosphere.... coming from Arlington I was thinking of along the lines of Liberty Tavern. No.

Not to say necessarily that it is a bad thing that Town Hall is not like Liberty Tavern. Upon entry, the place seems like it is vying for the quaint neighborhood place - nice bar, dim lighting, lots of hardwood.... but then you sort of meander through a side dining room which is nothing to write home about. However, the back patio really is pretty fantastic. What wasn't? The TVs. Kind of out of place. And the menu. Kind of ambitious but not good enough to deliver anything fancy. The cocktails were good and the wine list fair, and fairly priced. The food was kind of hit or miss; the appetizers were great.... my scallops not so much. Desert was drier than the sahara.

I wouldn't write this place off. I think maybe it has an identity crisis of sorts.... is it a sports bar? Is it a neighborhood pub? Is it a family restaurant? Is it a fancy date night destination?

Figure it out, guys. I'm willing to give you a second shot.

(3.5 stars).
I'm just going to put it out there: Blue 44 near Chevy Chase Circle has set the standard for casual neighborhood restaurants for me. It's the place where you go for an amazing, fresh salad or a great sandwich, the decor is nice enough and unpretentious, the service is attentive and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. It's the place you go when you don't feel like cooking and don't feel like going far. I thought Town Hall might be that place for Glover Park -- and maybe it is for some people -- but it's just a bit blah in some fundamental ways (though certainly better than the first time I ate there), blah enough that I wouldn't make the ten minute car drive to eat here.

Some of the blah-ness comes from the decor - the mood is Anywhere, USA - it's not chic or hip or cool - it's just sort of nondescript. The menu covers all the bases (though I'm generally not a fan of places where there are $12 burgers or $20 entrees - sometimes I want something in between) and what we had (two salads on a very hot summer evening) was fine - the chicken salad ($12) tasted like a mashed up taco (the only downside was that the lettuce tasted a bit old) and the steak salad ($15) had great veggies and less-exciting steak. The service was much better- and much more attentive- than the last time I was there.

All of this to say, Town Hall is a fine enough place - but it's really not anything exciting (perhaps one's experience of it is enhanced by enjoying some cocktails?)...

This is a review of their weekend brunch. I'm not reviewing this place as a bar, let's just say it's not my scene and leave it at that.

Because I don't like town hall as a bar I was reluctant to have brunch here. One day me and my date were a little desperate so we decided to give it a try. We were both very pleasantly surprised. I loved that they had eggs in a blanket (eggs cooked into toast). Making one eyed jacks is one of the few things I can do well so I love trying it at restaurants, their's were very good. Seeing huevos rancheros on the menu was a pleasant surprise as well. They also scored points for serving their mimosas in large champagne flutes. Personally I've always thought mimosas should be served in large juice glasses, but oversized champagne flutes is a step in the right direction.

The second time I went I had a goat cheese omellte and enjoyed that too. Their home fries or "hall fries" are excellent, they do a good job of seasoning them with green onion. They're sort of a cross between home fries and hash browns. I don't know if I would seek this place out for brunch because the city has so many brunch options these days, but if you're in the area it's a solid option. The new location is a good looking place and they have very reasonable prices as well.

After growing up in the DC area and learning to grow up with a mild distaste for the transplants; especially those especially pretentious ones who came with certain Presidents, I'm pretty surprised I enjoyed myself.

I met a friend (and his friends) for drinks. I had beer. Well more than one. It was dead. The new space is very big though a bit disjointed. i guess I never thought of it as being a place with so many tables for food.

I did find my way upstairs at some point where there is as uber cool outdoor area. And a far more crowded bar. And then, as if the flood gates were opened, the place went from 10% full to 80% full. Khakis and collared shirts and polos galore. Because it was Easter weekend, everyone of those prepsters were people I grew up with from church or country club or beach house. And it was actually a fun and unexpected reunion.

And for the next surprise - I'm going to go back there next time I'm home. Seriously.

This place is awesome. Beautiful interior filled with dark wood and mood lighting. There is a downstairs restaurant and bar area and an upstairs bar and patio area. I came here on a Thursday night around 7pm and they were booked. (Although this is disputable. There were tables at the downstairs bar area that remained empty but they wouldn't let us sit there). My friend and I headed upstairs for a drink as we waited for a table downstairs. Drinks are priced around $6 - $10. A little on the expensive side when it was still happy hour. However, the location was enjoyable and not crowded.

When our table was ready, the hostess came and retrieved us from the upstairs and took us to one of the tables in the downstairs bar area that had been empty since we go there. Seriously? We waited 45 minutes for that table. Oh well, more time to catch up with my friend.

To eat, I ordered the shrimp sandwich which was delicious. It is huge and comes with a side. It was $14, but soooo good. My friend ordered a barbecue chicken salad which was also amazing. The long wait was worth it.

Only complaint about this restaurant is the staff. The women are all super snobby and not very accommodating. They also all have an attitude which is not appreciated. I know this is a nice and hip place, but please don't be snotty.

A few months ago, sister had a LivingSocial deal that was about to expire, so she, my brother and I came here for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised at the warm staff, amazing food, and reasonable prices. We had grilled cheese as a starter, followed by burgers and club sandwich. The signature cocktails were also great. The fact that I can recall their version of a Dark and Stormy being loads better than the recent one my manager ordered at Busboys is a testament to that.

My sister had trouble finding parking, but eventually parked in the lot by Sushi-Ko. It was fairly easy for me to reach the restaurant via bus. From Georgetown, I boarded a 30-series bus (like the 36 to Friendship Heights).

Definitely worth a return visit, especially since I hear that Town Hall is great for brunch!

Still yummy!

(See Pics)

Goat Cheese Mac and cheese - the side dish is a perfect portion for dinner and this mac and cheese is well, heavenly.

Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup - comfort food prevails! I would have liked for them to use a more upscale cheese (gruyere, fontina, something?) but the sandwich was nicely toasted and the cheese sufficiently gooey.

Ziti - this one had pico de gallo, corn, fresh basi and penne pasta. Sounds crazy, but it was delicious! Corn in pasta = summer salad inspiration galore!

Unfortunately, I've never eaten here.

Fortunately, I have frolicked in adult beverages at Town Hall a number of times with friends.

Until last week, I had not been back in a few years. In fact, I believe it was within the first year of opening that I would come hang out here because some of the old staff from Adams Mill were opening up Town Hall.

I must admit that each visit always results in a good time, but fair warning that it definitely has it's share of drunk, preppy kids late night. Honestly, it doesn't really bother me. Sometimes it's just purely entertaining. Perhaps because the tone and mood of the bar overall is so laid back, that so are the subtle, drunken shenanigans.

That staff here is amazing and reason enough to frequent this establishment. Additionally, because night life is a little slow on this strip, that designated driver will have little trouble parking after hours.

After reading all of the fabulous reviews about the food, I feel as though I'm long overdue. Definitely planning on returning in the near future to get my grub on.

Though I usually love mango-mixtures, I was not a big fan of the dipping sauce paired with the jamaican jerk wings. The wings had a sweet & "supposedly spicy" flavoring and the dipping sauce was sweet as well. Don't let em fool ya or even try to school ya...oh no no, every (wo)man's got a right to decide his own dipping destiny...I like it sweet and savory...not sweet and sweet.

The scallops over mushroom risotto and marsala sauce...now that was IT!! It deliciously moved to a sea-faring rythm and made my tummy dance from within. A little wine sometimes... that's all. The server was kind enough to let me try the Pinot Noir, before deciding on the delightful glass of Cabernet Sauvignon I enjoyed.

The service was attentive and accommodating and the space has a good ambiance. And, when a new day is rising, I could probably see myself back here to try out brunch...

I guess this is kind of a niche review, since I've only ever been here for brunch and football games. But if that's what you're looking for, this is your place.

The food is really good. Not amazing, but really good: interesting and done well. I always get the pastrami hash and my fiance always gets the eggs in the middle and both are well done. The pastrami hash is your go-to for a hangover cure.

So why the gushing five star review? Because out of all the places in Glover Park and Cathedral Heights, I can't think of a nicer staff. We can go a month or more without going there, and when we go in, they still remember us. The bar staff have gone way out of their way to get Texans games on for me, and the service at the bar on Sundays is always quick, attentive and no pressure. One of the friendliest and most inviting places I've ever been to.

In a word..."unremarkable".
I must admit, I had high expectations going into this place based on recommendations from coworkers, so there was no other option but to be disappointed. The crowd, in general, lacked interest and imagination. I was also a little bit taken by the lack of diversity. I am not sure what exactly Townhall is trying to be. It seems stuck in a cookie cutter routine. This ain't the burbs...it's DC, but you would never know by stepping into Townhall. Might be good for couples, you might have a chance snuggle and talk at the bar. Single 30 somethings skip it, your time would be better spent down the road.

A throng of people who can only be described as ridiculous douchebags blocked my way to the area where my family was sitting. They were all wearing matching T-shirts from what must of been a flag football game. They were beyond wasted. And one of them tried to trip me.

This isn't the restaurant's fault. I'm sure it was a boon for their booze sales. But it is their fault they didn't ask them to settle a tiny bit or, I don't know, ask them to NOT try to kick each other's palms in the air and land on the floor.

I'm terrified to go back and run into that kind of crowd, but my pork chop was massive and very tasty. I could have just had the mac and goat cheese, though. My family had crab cakes and raved about them. We just didn't enjoy screaming at each other and watching the idiot parade.

Ive frequented Town Hall many times for brunch as well as on Sunday for football.

For brunch, I have gone at least 6 times and the food is great. The Eggs in the Middle is superb, and white omelet is perfecto. I have had a few other things including the hash and benedict. Their bloody mary's are also delicious. The price is a bit more than other brunch places, but for glover park/g'town, its very reasonable.

For Sunday football, the upstairs has a number of TVs and beer specials. I would say the lunch sandwhichs and burgers are good, but not out of this world. I will continue to frequent this place on Sundays to catch the Giants when they aren't on T.V.

Town Hall is part of the burgeoning Glover Park scene - I'd say the leader of it. It is a classy looking two floor space, usually inhabited by the preppy crowd of Glover Park. Town Hall was the first salvo fired against the monopoly Georgetown used to have for providing alcoholic beverages to the preppy, right wing, young professionals of DC. Since then, Gin and Tonic has opened as well to solidify Glover Park as a bonafide preppy oasis.

The food at Town Hall is excellent, especially for a bar. The mac and cheese is creamy and utilizes upmarket goat cheese. The burgers are a notch above the ordinary. The tuna was excellent. I've gone with large groups after soccer games and the service was exceptional. On weekend nights, Glover Park's best come out in force, where some true frattiness is often displayed. It gets very crowded, although with the opening of Gin and Tonic down the street, things have settled down a bit.

Town Hall is also a great place to come if you are:
a) wearing a navy blazer
b) wearing boat shoes or Gucci loafers
c) work in some type of political profession
d) looking for desperate ladies eager to social climb to Georgetown stardom

For some reason it attracts a lot of that type of girl that is looking to "move up in the world" in a superficial, non-realistic way. I don't see this as a negative, it's just something to be aware of.

I ate here once for dinner, as it's across the street from my office and I was hurting for a burger and fries. When I walked in, I asked for a table for one, and the hostess looked at me kind of oddly. Yes, one. I like eating by myself sometimes, don't look at me like I'm a weirdo. Waitress also kind of mirrored that sentiment. Is it really that strange for people to dine alone?

The chips that come out with whatever that dip is was really what was great about this place. It's really delicious. Got my burger and fries. The burger was really nothing too special. Good, but definitely not the best burger I've ever had. Shoestring fries were good as well.

I do love the decor of the place - very laid-back, with a tall bar and a couple of TVs above it. Black leather upholstery and dark wood. Classy. I haven't been here for the strictly "bar" scene, and based on what others are saying, I don't think I'd care to (I'm not really one for the Georgetown-type atmosphere, even though I live here). But I'd definitely come back for dinner.

**3.5**

My friend and I came in for some dinner so there would be something to absorb the alcohol that would be consumed when her birthday drinking fest later on in the evening. We were meeting up with everyone else later at the Grog to see our friend's band play and as usual, would wander our way over to Bourbon.

We sat at the hightops in the bar area so we could also watch the Olympics. For drinks, she ordered a glass of malbec and I ordered prosecco. I wanted to get the wings, but ultimately decided to get the crabcake sandwich with a side of goat cheese mac & cheese. She got the portobello mushroom ravioli - listed as an appetizer but got the large portion.

While we waited for our food, we were brought a plate of what appeared to be baked wontons or pita chips - something of that nature - with a scoop of guacamole. They were very tasty and I used them later to scoop up the cheese sauce leftover from my mac & cheese.

The crabcake sandwich was good - very tall, as I kept thinking how my mouth isn't THAT big and I wasn't sure how I was going to take a bite...but it all worked out somehow. :-) We had no room for dessert.

The food and service were very good but what makes me hesitate to want to come back is the clientele. The crowd is very "Georgetown yuppie-like" and not very welcoming or fun.

Despite appearances, Town Hall can really produce some delish dishes. However, before I go on, let me explain the two ways to look at Town Hall.

One.
Town Hall is a bar filled with determined young women that are dressed to the hilt and aggressively socializing. Yes, they are probably clutching a glass of chardonnay and giggling at a tanned, boat shoed man in his mid-twenties. Do not be alarmed, just stay out of the way of these mating rituals.

Two.
Town Hall is a great neighborhood place to grab a drink, or dinner. I have eaten here several times, and not only am I surprised at how good it is every time, I have begun to crave one of their dishes...the Jamaican jerk wings.

Jamaican Jerk Wings are seriously craveable little morsels. They are spiced up nicely, deep fried to perfection, and arrive on your table with a HONEY MANGO RANCH SAUCE. YES. I lured a group of friends over for dinner one night, and as soon as the wings hit the table they were gone. I was secretly sad, but glad that everyone loved them as much as I do! Now I just have another reason to return ASAP.

MMMMmmmmm slobber.

Nothing special ...I have been here twice and I still can't figure out what's the noise all about. Seems like a bunch of boring people standing about having boring conversations. If you are not a Georgetown student, a card carrying member of the GOP or a resident of the neighborhood -- don't bother. Sorry Town Hall but you're just average at best.

I must say I haven't eaten at Town Hall so I can't comment on the food.

Full of yuppies is an understatement! This bar is full of young professionals that are drunk, rude, and overbearing. Super crowded on weekends and not fun, difficult to get drinks! Terrible music that is never loud enough.

The one thing that is good at Town Hall is brunch! They have a great Sunday brunch, small menu but the two times I have gone, it has been great. I sat at a high bar table and really enjoyed my meal. We went earlier on so it was not crowded and we got right in. I would recommend to eat but not to go out!! They also have a lot of tvs to catch a game during the week when it isn't too crowded.

I found Town Hall DC by making a nearly random choice from a selection of places I found on http://OpenTable.com that seemed suitable to take my kids and still have a nice dinner with my girlfriend. I have to agree with the other reviewers that the place lacks "curb appeal" and doesn't raise the expectation level once you step inside. Not that it's not clean and attractive, in fact all the appointments look pretty newly done/redone. Everything is clean and in good shape. But the layout and decor is, as the other reviewers noted, "local pub." If you think "Cheers" you get the idea, though not an exact match.

But when the service starts and the food arrives, the only comparison to Cheers that survives is the friendliness. The waiter not only knew the menu, he knew ingredients and preparation the way you'd expect from any fine dining restaurant. And when the food arrived it was outstanding.

Sure, they have grilled cheese and tomato soup, but it's an appetizer, and this is not your mom's grilled American cheese and Campbell's tomato soup. This was a blend of fine cheeses on crusty fresh-baked bread, and the soup was house made with incredible fresh tomato flavor and delicate seasoning. (Yet it also was a perfect meal for my 9 year old). The veal was great. My older boy loved his grilled chicken sandwich and I had a double thick pork chop that was out of this world. it was served with house baked apples and the finest dish in the house: a side of mac'n cheese.

"HUH!?!?!? Mac'n cheese?" you say? Yup. I HATE mac'n cheese, have ever since my mom tried to pass off the Kraft stuff, with color not found in nature, as dinner for my brothers and me on "date nights" with my dad. This was so different as to be from another planet. First and most obvious it was a GOAT cheese mac'n cheese. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, blended with the cheese mixture, and then given a little time "al forno." Awesome!!

I lived in this neighborhood 20 years ago while in law school at American. Back then there was NOTHING worth going out for, except the incredible ice cream at Bob's. It's a good thing Town Hall wasn't there then, or my student loan debt would definitely have been significantly larger at the end of three years.
