1001 Nights

Good staff, very attentive despite the huge Halloween crowd.  The pumpkin pie shisha was awful though, and our hookah leaked air very badly around the base.  They weren't willing to replace our leaky hookah, or offer us a different type of shisha, even though we made the comment shortly after getting it that we did not care for it.  All through college I had my own hookah, but tonight I thought it would be fun to go here with friends.  Having said that, I regret my visit and will not be back.

As far as hookah bars are concerned this one should be skipped. They played loud rap music with graffiti on the wall which doesn't inspire a lot of middle eastern culture to me. It's obviously playing to a trend and not the cultural significance of hookah.

My friends and I got the 4 hose hookah with mango flavor. It was alright, but for the money I spent it should've been extraordinary. They use quick light coals (first sign that it's not that great), but they did use a Naklah tobacco (I believe, judging by the buzz).

Furthermore, it was cold, and the drink selection was minimal. The staff was friendly so they do have that going for them. if looking for a hookah bar in Columbus I'd look elsewhere.

This place used to be pretty good--back when you could get a late night falafel or Turkish coffee--but the last two times i stopped in to 1001 Nights, the vibe had changed to something less pleasant and the middle eastern food menu was replaced with the usual fried american finger foods. I would guess that you can still relax and smoke and meet some interesting people here, but it seems the incidence of verbal/physical conflicts among patrons has increased over time.  In other words, i've seen the police with their red and blues flashing and a general ruckus happening outside of here more recently than in times past.
