We were pleasantly surprised. I had the salmon special it was as good as any I've had at twice the price. Our server was Johnny on the spot the drinks were generous. Al in all it was a nice experience. We will be back.

Food & draft beer selection was great. They have mac-n-cheese with goetta! Very tasty.

Only stopped in for a drink. They had Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. Which gets an extra star by me. They even gave us to-go cups so we could head back out to the halloween block party going on outside. Kudos for that.

Like I said in my previous review, I love Monday burger nights. What I especially loved was being able to place a phone order and pick it up. About a month ago when I called in to order, I was informed that I could no longer do that by phone, but I was still able to come in and order and ask for a to-go box to get the deal. I thought that was kind of strange, but they said the policy changed a couple months ago and since it had been awhile since the last time I was in, I went to the restaurant to place my order and wait for the food there.

Well, when I got to Blinkers and went to put in my order at the bar, the woman waiting on me said "We don't do take-out $5 burgers on Mondays anymore. You have to dine-in, otherwise it'll be full price." I said that someone had told me otherwise on the phone. She replied that the girl was new and didn't know the policy. I told her I would not have come in if I had known that was the case. All she said was "sorry". At that point I became upset and left the restaurant.

To me I felt like if the woman knew the 'new' person had told me wrong information, she should have honored the $5 take-out deal for just that night. I was frustrated with the amount of wasted time and gas spent on the trip, but I definitely wasn't going to pay full price after I had been told otherwise. I really do enjoy everything about Blinkers and would always take friends there and talk about how great it was, but after this I do not see myself going out of my way to dine/drink there. I contacted the owner (she had Yelp PM'd me to thank me for my positive first review) but she only addressed the need for changing the pricing, not the poor service that day. Disappointing :(

This place is a solid 4-stars in my book. Good food, decent service, nice location... but nothing that really makes is special or different than 100 other American fare bar/restaurants in Cincinnati.

Loved being able to eat outside in the wonderful weather. Could even catch a peek of the river and suspension bridge down the street. Inside the decor is clean and warm.

Food was good... Had the Chicken Farfelle Soup, which was the most flavorful thing o the meal. Was surprised to see a $2 up charge on my bill since I had subbed it for the fries that comes with my sandwich... Really, a cup of soup is $2 more expensive than FF????

Had the Salsa Avocado Chicken Melt ($9) for dinner. Chicken was well cooked and came with a good amount of avocado. Wished the salsa was a more prominent flavor. Had to put ketchup on the sandwich to keep it from being too dry.

Husband had the Asian Chicken Salad ($9). It was good but was far more lettuce than other toppings.

The hostess, Audrey, actually remembered my husband from her days working at Cincy's on 6th (apparently he mentioned her in his Yelp review). She actually served as our waitress for most of the meal and did a wonderful job.

Definitely a place I would check out for standard American fare and was in the Covington area.

balnd run of the mill bar food- horrible wine- the merlot and cab sav are indistingishable. Won't be back- this would be good place if you usually eat at Denny's or Fritschs but if you like fine food, knowledgable staff and decent wine_ AVOID IT

At a place called Blinkers in Kentucky decorated in an old south club atmosphere and drenched in equine paraphernalia, I thought they might offer up some burgoo or at least a hot brown. Nope. Bar food. Just what this area needs. More bar food.

They had a supplemental Tex-Mex menu and I went for something light but flavorful. I ordered the taco plate. There was a choice between pulled pork, chicken and fish. I thought, Why choose and asked the waitress since there are three tacos coming to have one of each. After a bit of guff she agreed.

The chicken one was dry yet chewy. The fish was about to go off. The pork was a tepid, slightly sweet mess. The condiments were slapped on the plate.

It was just careless. You could feel the contempt coming off the plate.

Blinker's Tavern has the same bar food as every other bar in the area. They offer up their own 'tinis and 'ritas which are overpriced and under-alcoholed. I had the chicken sandwich and it was juicy but tough and chewy. It tasted old. Their sweet potato fries were good.

They seem to specialize in bread pudding and this day they had blueberry bread pudding. I was hoping for something special but alas, it just wasn't that great - bland and somewhat generic.

Their service was slow - painfully so and they were not busy on a Friday night. The waitress took forever to get the group's order, and the checks took forever as well. Generally when a group is done talking and their food is gone they are ready to go.

I would prefer giving 2.5 stars but I'll round up to 3.

Recently took my fiancé here to check it out as a potential rehearsal dinner location. Atmosphere was great and the back patio is very nice. The only problem with the place was the dinner was ruined by dead ants in my fiancé's pineapple martini! The manager was nice about it and did not make us pay for the drink or the appetizer. But it left a bad taste in her mouth about the place after finding more live ants crawling around the table. We where not setting out on the patio by the way. I could of understood ants outside but not in the dinning room. All I got say is Please get someone in there to spray before you turn off more business, otherwise this is a great place in a great location.

This place is very nice. The bartender makes really great drinks for a reasonable price. The ambience is great as well. Its a restaurant by day and bar social hot spot by night. Food is amazing!

There is this thing about the Licking River historic district area. It's called the "Keystone domination". Having recently moved into this area, and asking people around about where I should go for dinner, everybody, éverybody would say: Keystone.

So for a while I thought that was the only place worthy to go for dinner in this area. However, my husband and I wanted to try out something else so we decided to go to Blinkers. We actually stood hesitating for a while before entering, peeking in the windows to see if it would be worth it. And then we just went for it.

I don't know if it was because of the name, but I somehow expected a greasy (blinking?) pub, with no great food. Instead, we were let into a cozy dining area, with nice atmosphere lightning and I suddenly felt like I was on a date with my husband. Fun!

I tried the chicken and farfalle soup which first looked a bit watery but then turned out to have big chunks of chicken and pasta. It heated me up and I liked the taste. As a main I had the salmon, which comes with a very nice lobster sauce. You can always choose 2 sides and I definitely recommend the mashed potatoes and the asparagus.

The service was excellent and as I sat there, taking in the environment, it felt perfect. There are big paintings of horses all over the place, I don't know why, but somehow it fits.

The portions were so big that I actually took a box home and didn't have any space left for dessert.

Blinkers definitely exceeded my expectations and will be my close by place to go for a nice sit down dinner, in a cozy, unassuming restaurant.

The prices are correct for the quality you get. We paid about 45$ for 2 for a cup of soup, a main course and a soda.

I've been here for weekend lunch, $5 burger night (Mondays) and now $10 chicken night (Thursdays). Ate in a different part of the restaurant each time. The service is consistent and attentive, and we've been pleased each visit with the food quality and portion sizes.

As far as burger night, I really enjoyed the one topped with blue cheese. We tried both the grilled chicken and fried chicken on our most recent visit. Both were tasty, but the fried chicken was juicy, hot and pretty much perfect! On Thursdays, the special includes a salad, one side and chicken of your choice (bbq, grilled or fried, as well as a corn muffin. Can't beat the value!

Nice selection of beers and mixed drinks, as well. I guess next I'll try happy hour and some apps. We usually luck up and find street parking in front of the restaurant, but good to know there is also parking in the back.

I recently reserved (at no charge) Blinker's back room for a family member's birthday celebration. The staff was absolutely amazing! All of the servers were so attentive and helpful. They made sure everyone was able to order on seperate checks and there were no problems.

In addition to the excellent service, the venue and atmosphere was also a plus! The back room has exposed brick walls and a stable-like feel, that I really enjoyed.

Thanks Blinkers for helping our party go off without a hitch!

My favorite place to eat in Covington! I like that it is non-smoking, clean, fast/friendly service and great selection of food.
I have not come for wine night specials, but want to in the future.
It's not your typical bar food.
I see that they have a special on http://cincysavers.com! Make sure to check it out. Great deal!

I have really tried to like this place, because I live in the neighborhood, and believe in supporting the local business. BUT when 3 visits for dinner out of 4, have been bad experiences. Only 1 star can be awarded, for that one good visit.

I don't know why I keep coming back, but this Friday I had enough, went there 3 people and 2 dishes was so bad that we sent them back after 1 bite! I have never sent anything back before!
But when a piece of chicken feels like a rubber sole, on 2 separate dishes, something must be wrong in the kithcen!
And to top things off they had added a beer to our check, that we did not have.
Not to mention they charged my friend 2 dollars, to take the turkey of the turkey club sandwich so he could get a BLT, because they did not have BLT on the menu...

This place has horrible management, and I will never set my feet there again.
There are just too many other much better options around, to be wasting any more of my time on this horrible inconsistent, so called restaurant

I live just down the street, and like most residents, mourned the loss of Chalk for some time. Blinkers, however different it may be from its previous tenant, is a viable restaurant/bar with plenty of options for good food and drink.

The restaurant, on first glance, looks like it couldn't hold more than 30 people. Take a walk inside, though, and the place opens up to a beautiful atrium/courtyard in the rear. Definitely grab a seat back here if you can.

To compete with Keystone's half-off Mac & Quesadillas on Mondays & Tuesdays, Blinkers started their own daily special menu. The $5 burgers are a favorite of mine, and I haven't had a bad one yet.The mushrooms on the Mushroom Swiss Burger were done perfectly, and the beef itself tasted fantastic. I also recommend the lightly breaded calamari, although they're a bit skimpy on the accompanying marinara.

Patrons of the bar are generally a decade (or three) above my own age group, but I welcome the mix. Staff are generally helpful and prompt, and only adds to the overall positive experience.

I admit I was suspicious of Blinkers.. because it was called Blinkers. The name certainly doesn't reflect what it is: a nice, sit down restaurant/pub with some pretty tasty food. I don't know what I was expecting, but without belaboring the point, it took me a long time to get to trying the food, mostly due to the name. It might just be me.

Anyway, we went to dinner here with the in-laws and enjoyed a really fantastic dinner. The service was great, the portions were large, and everything was clean and nicely decorated. I had the fried chicken special, which was $10 for 4 pieces of delicious chicken, a side, and a side salad. It was way more chicken then I needed, but it was pretty scrumptious for fried chicken- juicy inside and crispy outside. The husband ordered the chicken marsala and really enjoyed that, too. No one seemed to have any complaints about the food and there was something for everyone. Thumbs up, Blinkers, I'll be back!

Blinkers, stupid name notwithstanding, has become one of my new favorite NoKy spots. It's casual enough to where you can go in jeans and a t-shirt, but nice enough to not feel like a sports bar.

They have a great rotating selection of draft beers, and well-priced, generously sized cocktails. The service we've had has always been excellent, a rarity I've come to appreciate in any city, and the food is pretty great, too. The five dollar burger Monday is one of the best deals you can get anywhere; the burgers are hearty and always properly cooked, and the fries are crispy on the outside, soft & warm on the inside. On the entree side, the salmon with lobster sauce is quite delicious as well, and even the salads and dressings, while simple, are classic and well-made.

Blinkers is fast becoming our local go-to spot in Covington, as it's perfectly situated near the Roebling Bridge for walking over to a Reds game and hitting up afterwards, since the kitchen is open till at least 11. On Friday nights, there's a guy with a guitar who sits out on the sidewalk and sings some pretty excellent covers of pop songs, and sitting out on the sidewalk itself has a pleasant, European cafe sort of feel.

We're glad to have finally found a place where we feel like regulars.

Blinkers Tavern was a very nice surprise!

I was a fan of Chalk back when it was Chalk and thought it was a fantastic place to take a date. This, however, is a place to take friends. While Chalk was mood lit and full of crazy art, Blinkers is bright, with TVs and sound everywhere. A place for loud conversation and good food.

This is a great pub with seats all over the place. It's basically one long room leading into a back area with more tables (and a patio even farther out). We had a group of 10 people and they easily sat us without problems.

The food selection is your normal pub fair - burgers and chickens and so on. Nothing to really amaze me. However, what we tried was fantastic. We sampled a bunch of different appetizers, all which was great. The crab cakes, mozzarella sticks and calamari were all flavorful, hot and delicious. Could not have been happier.

We also tried some desserts as well, which were OK. Nothing blew me away but I didn't hate them either. Just so-so. We tried some white chocolate raspberry pudding, strawberry tiramisu and which chocolate mousse. All were sweet and tasty, but again, nothing to knock my socks off.

However, the service was amazing. The waiter took care of our giant table quickly and effectively. We all got our meals and our drinks and he checked on us whenever it seemed like we needed anything. Such a win right there.

Oh, and they have a martini that comes with a glowstick in it that we made out friend get. I didn't try it (she said it was good though), I just felt like it was worth mentioning. Seriously. Martinin. With glowstick. Worth mentioning again.

Again, this may not be your best bet for a date spot anymore. However, for a night out in Covington, I am recommending it!

Blinkers was the first restaurant I tried for Yelp Eats week. I met the chef during the Iron Chef event, and he was extremely nice and passionate about his food. I was interested in the mussels linguine on the half price menu, and he described them beautifully. I had to try it!

My husband and I were originally sat in the empty, dark, and freezing cold main dining area. We had glimpsed a bright light in the back, and asked if we could move. We walked through a climate controlled window-filled room to an open-air, yet foliage-covered courtyard. It reminded me of New Orleans. After 2 days of 100+ degree heat index, the 80 degree, low humidity evening was a welcome chance to sit outside.

We ordered the provolone cheese sticks (5) for the appetizer, and they came out hot and oozing. The sticks are hand-breaded and GIANT! I felt guilty eating just two, and we still left one on the plate. For our main course, I had the mussels linguine (of course) and my husband chose the chicken marsala. Both items came with a side salad (boring), bread (warm and delicious) and a side. It was a lot of food! The mussels were perfectly flavored, with a garlic, white wine, tomato sauce. They didn't provide a bowl for the shells, though, which I thought was weird. My husband's chicken marsala was moist and the sauce was very flavorful.

We were too full to try any of the desserts, but we had a great experience in a beautiful setting. I would return, especially for their Monday burger special.

I sampled a delicious array of tastes with the Yelp Eats deal going on this week:

- Crab Cake: The star of the evening! Delicious moist crab meat with crab chunks baked to perfection. It was served with a zesty creamy dip. At regular price, it's $10.00 for one cake, which is a bit pricey for the portion. I'm glad I got the half-price deal.
- Provolone Cheese Sticks: Larger and less greasy than your average cheese stick, these were also pretty tasty.
- Calamari: I'm a big fan of calamari, but was disappointed with this appetizer. The breading needed some flavor, perhaps oregano or a hint of spice. It was too plain and floury compared to Calamari dishes elsewhere.
- White Chocolate Raspberry Bread Pudding: This was by far the best dessert. I was a little skeptical of bread pudding, but the tartness of the raspberry served up with warm, succulent white chocolate made for a fantastic dessert.
- Strawberry Tiramisu: While not a big fan of Tiramisu, the strawberries and cream added a nice variety to a dish typically enhanced with coffee flavors.
- White Chocolate Mousse: Very creamy, less the fluff. I actually thought this tasted like something other than White Chocolate; perhaps a bit of almond? Whatever it was, it sure was good!

I'll be back to Blinkers to try out some more of their dishes. Maybe I'll even splurge a little and get two crab cakes.

I went there with the Yelp eats event. We got to sample so very delicious food. During yelp eats some of their items are half price witch it nice because it is a bit pricy. They have good calamari. It was nothing great but good. Now the cheese sticks were great. They were bigger than most places and way less greasy. We also got to try some deserts. they were better then most places. Over all i liked this place and if i was in that area i would go back again.

Thank you, Blinkers, for being open on the Fourth of July when no one else was! The BF & I decided to walk around downtown and find lunch; we struck out first at Holy Grail, then at Keystone. It being an 80-something degree day and our having walked from 5th Street to Covington, we were just eager for some air conditioned lunch, and you were open.

We thought we were settling, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that the food was great and the lunch specials even nicer ($5 burger platters? Yes, please!). Just a great lunch! We'll certainly return!

Went a few weeks back with some friends on a Friday night and had a very pleasant experience.

We were only there for drinks and dessert and this place did not disappoint. The bread pudding by far was the best dessert that we tried. The flavors change weekly, and our flavor that evening was raspberry. The flavors were rich and savory and had touches of white chocolate; one of the best bread puddings I have ever had.

The other desserts were a tiramisu and cheesecake. The tiramisu was OK, lots of strawberries and homemade whip cream. The cheesecake was, well, an OK cheesecake, nothing special.

We also tried some of their many cocktails. I went with the ginger-ale and bourbon cocktail. Quite a fine concoction. The Girlfriend got a hypnotini, a very tasty, but feminine drink, even comes with its own blue glow stick. Our friend got the Superman, and he was not impressed.

Overall these items were great, but a tad out of my price range ($8.00 cocktails) for a broke-ass 20-something. Thank goodness I have friends who are older, have jobs, and like to pick up the tab for us younger folk.

This is a great date place with a lot of classy options. The interior is lovely with modern, earth-tone settings. The back room is a large open room with rusticated stone and a mammoth skylight. There is also a tree shaded patio in the rear for large parties.

All in all a great date place or gathering spot for something formal like a wedding party and the like.

A group of us recently met here to network. I LOVE IT! The decor is very nice. Parking behind the Tavern was easy. The seating out on the sidewalk would be nice on another visit. The one room with a skylight that covered the whole room just draws you in. Then there is another outside room beyond that has greenery (trees) growing over top and hanging down into the space which gives it a cool forest feel. Just very relaxing feel out there.

Then they brought out appetizers. WOW, AWESOME! They do appetizers right for parties. Veggie tray was scrumptious but my favorite were the cheese sticks - Best I've ever had.

Our group had about 50 or more there and everyone I talked to just loved the look of the place. We must go back - for sure.

Perhaps it's unfair of me to review Blinkers in comparison to its predecessors, but it's a sore disappointment when compared to Chalk (at least in its heyday) and Scalea's, which I loved.

Blinkers is a pedestrian concept in an upscale venue. It feels weird and indecisive. The horse theme seems arbitrary and corny, and a bunch of big TVs showing IFC bouts set amidst the beautiful woodwork is a big turn-off. Keystone is right across the street if you want to have a burger and watch a fight.

The wine menu was really lacking, and the ones we tasted seemed to have been open too long. Clearly wine isn't its focal point, but if you're going to offer it, at least make sure you aren't serving bottles that are past.

We actually decided not to try any food because nothing beckoned. I'd love to see another thoughtful, well-executed restaurant go into this great space. This part of Covington could really use it, especially since the Greenup died.

Not bad. My boss told me about a Monday burger deal that he and the law associates had a few weeks ago, and seeing that a) my car is in the shop so I'm hoofing it and b) I really ate nothing over the weekend because it was too hot, I thought I'd give the $5 buck burger at Blinker's a try.

My server was very nice and told me right off the bat about the burger special. She gave me a few minutes to peruse the menu (standard casual restaurant fare, though some of the sandwiches had different ingredients and sounded good). The prices were a little offputting for the larger entree salads ($12.00 seems high to me for a salad with a protein) but I didn't see anyon eating them, so I couldn't judge on proportion. I probably wouldn't order much more from the menu than a burger, simply because I don't eat a lot of fried items or hot browns, but if you're looking for simple comfort foods, this menu seems to be a winner.

I went with the black and bleu burger. The menu described it as a cajun spiced burger with bleu cheese, served with their version of saratoga chips and a side of bbq for dipping. I orded it medium-well, and it came just as I requested. The bleu cheese was oozy and flavorful, but not overpowering, though I didn't taste much "cajun" spice on the burger. I also would have liked a little more "salt" quotient, (also, why don't restaurants outfit the tables with s&p already present when you're seated?), but it was well prepared otherwise. I would order it again, but ask for some salt!

For $5 in the Covington area around the courthouses, you can't beat the Monday burger special.

I have stopped in at Blinkers a couple times for dinks. Tonight we were there with a group of about 22 of us for a birthday dinner. I was rather impressed and surprised at the little time it took to get our dinners once ordered.

A couple people at my table ordered the Petite Filet and the Strip Steak. Both pieces of meat were prepared exactly as ordered (med-rare) and they were nice cuts. I wanted to get something different, so I ordered the Chicken Marsala. It was your average Chicken Marsala, nothing bad or nothing spectacular - just good.

We were situated in the back patio room. It was a bit chilly and the acustics with that many people talking at once was a bit loud, but manageable. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive.

I would recommend giving this new place a try.

Ok, folks. I am warming up to Blinkers for the following reason: All the appetizers I have tried have been good. Crab cake, cheese sticks, chicken tenders. I went on Wednesday, the half price appetizer night. We were seated in the dining area and then told that the 1/2 price deals were only for the bar area. Our waitress was kind enough to not require us to relocated to the bar. Drinks are still pricey compared to other locations in the neighborhood.

A more casual occupant of the former Chalk space, Blinkers is decked out in horse-racing themed decor (tastefully, not over the top) and riding boot-clad waiters. There's still a lovely patio out back for nice weather, as well as tables out front.

I was feeling like a burger, so did a bit of a custom order with sauteed onions and cheddar. They cooked my husband's medium rare order to a medium and my medium well order to a well-done, so order one under what you really want and you should be all set. The burger itself was hot, juicy and delicious despite being overcooked, so can only imagine could it would be as ordered! Fries that came with were solid, but not particularly memorable.

Quality beers on tap, but just a few options when we were there. I liked my Falls City pint very much and my husband was happy to find they still carried KY Bourbon Barrel Ale (like Chalk). Service was friendly and helpful, but a bit spotty around check time. Overall, great neighborhood feel and definitely a place I would consider frequenting more often.

My friends and I were going to go to Keystone across the street for dinner, but due to the wait decided to try out Blinkers Tavern instead. They were able to seat our party of 4 immediately.

Our waiter was... interesting. He raved and raved about their homemade cheese sticks and how they aren't frozen but that they cut the cheese into individual portions themselves. My friend asked if she could pay extra and substitute the fries her chicken sandwich came with for the cheese sticks and our waiter acted completely flabbergasted and appalled at even the thought of this idea ("noooooooo the cheese sticks are way too expensive" and "the cheese sticks are homemade" ...yeah, we remember.) The waiter didn't really bother us but it was definitely a little odd.

I ordered the salsa avocado chicken sandwich after asking our waiter what their most popular item is. It was pretty bland as it came with no condiments other than the salsa which was not flavorful. I added some mayo and that helped give it some more taste. The chicken was cooked perfectly though and the fries were ok. Overall, nothing special.

Great new restaurant! Very friendly staff - very good up scale bar food. It is not your greasy burger and french fries - the ingredients are fresh and tasty. The atmosphere is fun and the drink specials are great. What more can you ask for?? As for previous negative reviews - you can't expect too much from a restaurant on opening day when combined with St. Patrick's Day. Chalk was too pretentious for the neighborhood - Blinkers is a perfect fit.

New food option in Covington! This again is near my workplace and we were wanting something new. We go to Keystone way too much as it is. For those that do not know Blinkers is in the old Chalk space and a lot of the Chalk fixtures will be recognizable. Their decor is focused on horse racing. In fact, the servers are clad in riding pants and boots with polo shirts. Very interesting. We were warmly greeted and shown to a table off of the bar. Our server was friendly and prompt with drinks and suggestions from the menu.

The menu had some great options, soups, salads, burgers and entrees. crab cakes, pasta, even mussels.

Wheat and french bread and butter - always a hit with me.

Glenda had the chicken tenders and before you make fun - they were delicious. The breading was vaguely crunchy but soft, the chicken was incredibly tender and juicy, very fresh. They were great. I kind of look askance when the most that someone can look forward to is a chicken tender, but in this case I guess it can be kind of a litmus test for a restaurant. My litmus test is salmon. More about that later.

I had the crab cake and it was very good. Crabby! It was bready but had lots of crab in it. It was much better than Behle Street Cafe (which is not good) and not quite as good as InCahoot's (my favorite). There was a small little salad to the side of the remoulade sauce which surprised me because it contained kale. You don't see kale just thrown around in many restaurants.

I ordered the special which was salmon in shrimp cream sauce, this came with a side and a salad. I chose the saffron risotto. The risotto was very good, not overly saffron flavored but good. The salad was very good, they have a house made tomato basil dressing which was delicious. The salad was a generous mix of iceberg, romaine lettuce, kale and arugula.

The salmon was perfectly cooked, a nice portion for $15 and the shrimp cream sauce was very tasty. I really do love salmon, especially a good salmon.

I was happy with Blinkers. I'm a little sad because I had fallen back in love with Chalk right before it closed but this is a worthy replacement. This is definitely going to be our party spot for work events instead of going to Behle Street Cafe.

scrumptious! had the talapia special. also had the Wittekerke. love that it's non-smoking in kentucky. server was not very knowledgeable about the menu - only reason i didn't give a 5. go to blinkers!

I really wasn't expecting a lot from Blinkers. From looking at the menu I didn't see anything new or different than what I could already get in Covington. Plus I thought Chalk was much trendier and was disappointed that the only nice restaurant we had in Covington got taken away and replaced by a horse tavern.

I have to admit now, I was wrong. Although it's a "tavern," it has the atmosphere of a nice restaurant. Candlelit tables, nice atmosphere. The prices are great...most things around $10. The menu didn't look impressive at first, but the waitress explained to us how things were hand made and that the cheese sticks were hand-battered provolone, etc.

I was in the mood for some comfort food, so I ordered the chicken fingers with a side of mac & cheese. The mac & cheese was simple but delicious. Whatever mix of cheese they use is perfect. The chicken fingers were much better than usual bar food and cooked perfectly.

The crowd was diverse, but lots of groups and people who seemed they may have been regulars at Chalk because they seemed pretty familiar with the place. It wasn't your typical Covington bar crowd.

The downfalls: it was pretty loud. We sat in the bar section, so that may have had something to do with it, but we mostly just heard lots of other people's conversations throughout the meal. Also, watch out for the beer prices. There wasn't a beer list, and the waitress recommended the Wittekerke to me. I've had it before and like it a lot, so I drank 2 with dinner. They ended up being $6.50 a piece for draft! The food might be priced decently, but if you plan on drinking, make sure you ask what you're going to pay first. This isn't a place to hang out and have drinks after dinner.

I'll probably go back to Blinkers to try some more food options, but first I'm going to see if they have any happy hours so I can actually enjoy a beer with my food without breaking the bank.

The atmosphere is unique and something long needed in covington. Feels like a coffee shop but is a full bar and restaurant. We didnt eat but did get a delicious white chocolate mousse. Martinis looked great and can't wait to come back and try the food. Best of all finally a no smoking bar in northern Kentucky!
