The Champagne Lounge at RumBa is my kind if place, that much is clear. Located right inside RumBa but off to the side in it's own little spot, the Champage Lounge is special for sure. This is a great place to unwind with a close group or person. Walk through the large doors sealing off this semi-secret spot and slip into a private room with its own bar and bottles of bubbly everywhere, mood lighting, deep plush sofas and red interior that make you want to sit too close to someone and get in some trouble. Where is Don Draper when I need him??
No, this is not a place for a wild and crazy night, but more of a place for an intimate gathering where you can hear the people you are with talk. Quiet and classy. I can also see it being somewhere I would want to host a party for a friend if I were a local.
The food and drink is on par with the vibe - very good. It isn't cheap and you will pay more for a glass of whatever's your pleasure here than you may elsewhere, but I would say who cares? If this kind of place is your scene you will be glad you came and want to tell all your friends.
Next time I'm in Boston again, I will be back.
Verdict: Fun lounge for mingling or sitting with friends, perhaps for a more sophisticated, not wild, night out.
Visited on a Sat night while staying at the hotel. Side room was closed for private party, but they had a DJ in main area. Must watch tables like a hawk to get a space (some very pushy women stole a table from me while I was sitting down to hold it for me & 2 friends.)
Quick drink service from server or bar... we enjoyed prosecco and a ginger martini... But take your time enjoying them or your tab will grow exponentially. (Ok so that's the lesson with any swanky place, right? A lesson not learned by my normally beer-drinking, typically lightweight friends. Too bad it was my turn to pick up the tab. Sigh.)
I'd go back if I were staying in the immediate area.
I LOVEEEE THIS PLACE.
This place is all about rum, Mojitos to be specific. Â I came for a Mojito making class and fell in love with this place. Â
Hidden off to the side of the bar are red doors with golden handles. Enter and you find yourself in the swankiest place in Boston. Mini chandeliers, red velvet couches, dark wood walls, campagne bottles scattered about.
This place is quiet, classy, and romantic. Great place to take a girl for a drink and sit and chat...
Stars for ambiance, decor, and beautiful bar.
Not more than 3 because it is filled with a much older crowd. By older I mean 40-60s ish.
Location is further from downtown Boston so you really have to trek here to want to come here and if you don't like it...you'll have to travel a little more to go elsewhere.
Too bad, looks nice but I doubt Id be back unless I was older :)
Swankity swank swank swank.
Velvet couches, private bar, sexy lighting, huge bottles of bubb on display...this spot is wall-to-wall baller baby. The Champagne Lounge at RumBa is the ultimate in VIP lounges. And how so? Peep the mansion-like double doors at its entrance. Exclusivity just jumped up a notch. No wannabes lingering around, no unsavory types trying to mack off your vibe and certainly no popped-collared kids pretending like their fly while they run up mom and dad's CC.
Forget nabbing an overpriced table at some overhyped club. Spend some time with a few close friends in The Champagne Room for party that's a little more classy and a lot less trashy.
With a special birthday celebration coming up, my bf was stumped on where to hold the party. We'd searched our options all around Boston, and had yet to find a place that had a great bar, could hold the amount of people that we wanted without being too large, had a chic and somewhat swanky club/lounge vibe, and would basically provide us with a location to have a fantastic private party without having to get a table in a big club. How lucky it was, then, that we stumbled upon the Champagne Lounge at Rumba!
We discovered this place since DJs Elyte and C-Nyce from Soul Clap DJ at the connecting bar, Rumba, on Saturday nights. The Champagne Room is literally a hidden gem, off the side of Rumba's bar. Sliding doors with gold handles of Venus-like nymphs open to a room with plush couches, deep red walls and jewel-toned seats, candlelight, a bar, low lighting and the suggestion of oodles of champagne. It's gorgeous inside. We'd found it!
Price-wise, when we considered the minimum amount of spending for the room here and what you'd get in comparison with other places, for the amount of people you'd fit, the quality of drinks, the possibility of finger snacks (this can be included in the minimum), the privacy factor and capacity, it was one of the best deals we could get for what we were looking for. The events staff of Rumba and the hotel were charming and friendly, and made it a pleasure to work out the details of the event and accomodate our needs as best as they could. Our only issue, price-wise, is that we wish they'd mentioned earlier on that the minimum doesn't include tax and tip (and when you consider how much you're paying for the room, that's a pretty substantial amount) but other than that, it was all fantastic.
The finger foods were excellent - a great menu to choose from, the portions were decent-sized and delicious. Snacks seemed to pop-up miraculously from beaming ladies holding laden trays. I was pleasantly surprised to see that although there was only one bartender in the room (capacity about 40 people), there was never a big line for drinks. Although he darted between the lounge and the connected bar at Rumba at times, the drinks flowed pretty continuously. The drinks are great - so many great cocktails! The stars of the night were the champagne and mojitos (and the birthday guy of course).
The room can get quite hot, be warned, even in the midst of winter. The doorman was pleasant, didn't make guests feel awkward about him checking his list, and although we had a few curious peepers from Rumba, the private party stayed private. As for music, you have the option of coming on a Sat. night when Soul Clap is playing and letting their music stream into the room, or you can get your own DJ or hook up an iPod with playlists to the sound system. We went the iPod route, and after a few initial hiccups, it all went smoothly.
Overall, we had an amazing time. It's a unique and beautiful location, good service, and a fantastic place to hold a private party for a special event.
