Solid, if somewhat generic, lunch choice. They have a great, covered patio out back, which was the main draw for my little group the other day: it was a nice temperature, but with some threat of rain. This place did the trick.
They have a few beers on tap, no cider (I care about this because i am gluten-free). Their GF selection is pretty limited, but I settled on a gyro salad... I've heard this place owns Goody Boy, which has the worst food of anyplace I've been in Columbus, so I was pleasantly surprised that my lunch was not just edible but good!

The quality of the food at this location seems to be lacking as compared to other locations.  I had the sauteed calamari and it was overcooked in a fake oil/butter that left a bad taste in my mouth.  My husband ordered the club and our son had grilled cheese which were both fine but nothing impressive.  For 35 USD I do not think it was a good value.  The service was good but we will not be back to this location.

Get to know Valter.  He's the owner / manager of this Jimmy V's on South High in German Village.  Valter's a very cool Albanian guy.  He loves to schmooze his customers to make them feel welcome.

If Valter's not too busy, ask him if he can make something special for you.  Just let him know what you like as far as protein, pasta, sauce whatever and he'll custom make a dish for you.  Not too many chefs will do that for you but Valter always is pleased to try something new and exciting.  I've seen him do this a few times and he always comes up with something cool on the fly and it's always great.

Prices are very reasonable for German Village.  Nothing fancy or pretentious here.  It's good quality bar food.  They also have a good number of specials to keep things interesting.  Just a good solid place to come and have dinner and drinks without breaking the bank.  Beer selection is pretty decent and reasonably priced.  Bar area is spacious and inviting.  Definitely a place to come and get lunch or dinner or to just hang out.

BTW, when the weather's nice you can either sit on the patio in the front or in the back.  I prefer the front myself.  Always more interesting for me there.

I like the place. Right around the corner from my house in German Village, food is decent, prices are pretty reasonable. Awesome patio out back that, of course, I discovered in the middle of an Ohio winter. Their gyros are real good. Hard to mess that up, and while they're no Yanni's or Mykonos, it's still a pretty good gyro.

Been here a few times and it is OK. Lunch a few times and drinks and dinner a few times. Had a very nice server once, she was bright and pleasant and then got the Medusa the rest of the times. Ordered fried Smelt a couple times - fried fish and beer... HOLLA!!! and it came out drowned in shaker style parm cheese. Big yuck, cheese on fish is criminal!

The waitress got totally bent when we said something. Not that cool to get your delicious smelt thrown back in the fryer (we saw that...) and thrown back at you. Big no no. And no apology...  Tried a few other things and all fairly happy. Bar-ish type food. I will try again and I hope they do not do the shaker drill on my fish - i do not want to be turned into stone with the stare of the Medusa.

I was very surprised by the selection of menu items.  I have never heard about this place until a friend suggested we drop in.  We entered from the back and I expected nothing more than another wings and burger joint.

I enjoyed the food and will return soon to get something more than appetizers and a sandwich.  I'll probably get the Cajun Shrimp Linguine on my next visit.

The atmosphere of the place seemed a bit divey on my Thursday afternoon visit.  The only negative to the good/great food was that my grilled chicken sandwich was dry (dry bun, no tomato, no sauce).

Overall I enjoyed the visit and the value was great.

Just walking around in the German Village I was looking for a place to eat that wasn't packed and came across this place. I wasn't expecting much at all when I walked in to be honest and I looked at the menu and didn't really see anything eye catching either but I didn't feel like  being rude and leaving so I ordered the cajun linguine and I have to say for a bar, it was pretty darn good. Perfectly cooked, great flavor I was really impressed. My sister ordered the pulled bbq sandwich and said it was really good too. Our waitress was very nice and made sure we were all set so it was a pretty good experience for me. From what I saw it looked like a cool place to get a few drinks with friends, keep it low key, watch some football. I'd def come back.

Stopped in at this local bar for a fundraising event and was pleasantly surprised by the outdoor space.  You pass through a pretty ordinary bar room (although it's spacious), into a very nice patio, replete with water elements, plenty of seating and TVs, and an outdoor bar.  Particularly at night, this is one of the more interesting (and accessible, I imagine) patios in Cbus.

Beer was good, nicely priced and with a good selection.  Parking on the street or in the back lot is convenient.

Who knew this Jimmy V's had such a badass patio hidden out back?!!? Not I. But it was awesome and I can't wait to go back and enjoy it.

Everything else from my previous review still stands and yes, the standard of food (gimme the gyro!) is similar to the other Cbus locations, but I am particularly fond of that patio so I just had to share. Another huge plus is the location which I didn't really appreciate as much until my last visit. You don't get much more central than High St.

As per usual, the lemon potatoes were a hit for almost everyone who ordered them (including myself) and everything was washed down perfectly with a cold draft beer.

The servers wer on par and attentive, too.

I quite enjoy a laid back, local pub... with a great patio ... and I got all I was hoping for at Jimmy Vs.

Went on Thursday. Had chicken wrap special. Asked for mustard chicken, and got it. Heavenly. You must try it. Tangy. Aromatic. Wonderful contrast to rest of Adriatic region wrap contents (which are good, too). Should be on the regular menu (let's start a movement). Dijon mustard might be even better. Live a little!

Beings that I am the Duke of Jimmy V's  they tell me to write a review. So here it is.

Let me start with the service, Important to everyone right. So all of the staff is very friendly and attentive to your needs. They also know their menu and will assist you with it.
The manager is always on the floor making sure you are always taken care of.
    But,,,,,,
The only down side I have at Jimmy V's is the manager. Now don't get me wrong, He run a very good Bar & Grill, but he is not very people friendly. I won't go into details about why I say that. If you see me there or around town sometime just ask and I will tell you the story.

I have tried a lot of items on the menu. And let me tell you one thing that every thing I have tried has been great. I am not just saying that, I mean it is really good. Example. the sweet corn bites on the appetizer menu is my fav. The paninis sandwichs are wonderful. They have like Turkey Melt, Philly cheese steak and Spicy Southwestern Chicken and a Veggie Paninis. Just to name a few......
The All American Burger is a great burger all 8oz of it.
They have a good salad menu for you veggie out there.

I tried the roasted chicken dinner special the other day and it was good but could have had a little bit more flavor to it. It was late in the evening so the chicken was a bit on the dry side but it was still better then you get at other places.

It is almost always quite here.

Just like Christina C. put it. It is your everyday good ol' boys pub. And they do have very good food.

As I try other items on the menu I will continue to update this for all of theose that have not been to Jimmy V's.
The kitchen stays open until 12:00 midnight

Good food and good service will keep bringing you back! The owner really cares if you are having a good time and you are enjoying the food! He always make a point to greet his guests. There are many food options to choose from and you can't go wrong. The Blackened Tilapia Sandwich is a win as is the Greek Panini and the Italian Panini! Make sure to check out the daily lunch special and the soup of the day. The Hummus appetizer is a good choice with fresh veggies and fresh pita! Jimmy V's has a great selection of beers and makes for a great happy hour as well!

Lemon potatoes are so good. The food was decent, but I'd honestly go back for the potatoes daily if I knew they wouldn't go strait to my hips :$

Jimmy V's is my home away from home...and sometimes, I even mix the two as I live a block away and order carry out salads from time to time. The Jimmy V's salad is great - spinach, grape tomatoes, blue cheese, red onion, and a nice vinaigrette house dressing...I love my meat, so I recommend throwing on some gyro meat or some grilled chicken, southwest style...When I want to be bad, I'll order a panini and that is pretty enjoyable too.

I don't think a lot of people realize that they serve brunch on Saturdays and Sundays...It is like Easy Street without the wait! I recommend the gyro omelet or Jimmy V's Breakfast, which is a good sized ribeye steak with eggs and home fries. Yum!

I have to disagree with some of the reviews below- I think the hummus is excellent. The flavor is on and it is on the chunkier side, which I enjoy. :)

This place is pretty conveniently located to a friend's studio so often after visiting or shooting I'd trek on over to Jimmy V's for a bite. I haven't seen said friend for a while and I also haven't visited Jimmy V's. I'm thinking this needs to be remedied and quick. It's a great place to go at 11 P.M. and grab some seriously tasty food.  I wish I could comment on several dishes but, I can never not order the traditional gyro with a side of lemon potatoes. It's just so darn good. I also love the atmosphere and the fact that at one time they had Futurama on the T.V. and I believe another time it was ESPN.

    Ahh, memories. :)

I came down here for dinner tonight and on the whole it was pretty good.  My first course was the onion soup and it wasn't so hot.  At least when compared to that of the better restaurants.  They need to let it cook longer.

But my second course was really good.  It was a blackened tilapia sandwich.  And the price was remarkable, $6.95.  It came on a bun with lettuce, tomato, and spicy mayo.  And it was served with an order of french fries that were excellent.  I guess you could say that they were cajun style.

For dessert, I had a piece of chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream.  It was considered the "dessert of the day" and was $4.75.  Can you imagine??

And the two ladies that were on duty took turns waiting on me and both were very nice.  All in all, a very good meal.

A few friends and I gathered here on a Thursday night for drinks. We were all pleased by the wall-waterfall and scenery surrounding the back patio, which seemed to catalyze comfortable conversation.  We've rendezvoused back at Jimmy V's many times since, using the patio as a rallying point for our night.  Overall, this is one of the best bars in the south side of Columbus.  However, I'm unsure how the vibe will be in the Winter, as chilling on front and back patios may prove too chilly.  In this way, I'd recommend checking out Jimmy V's before the seasons turn.

Had some friends come from out of town to hang out and watch the Crew game. We headed down to Jimmy V's and we all really enjoyed the experience. The service was great even with it fairly busy. We all got our beers quickly and received refills easily when we were running low. I ordered the Italian panini with lemon potato wedges both of which were amazing. There is a nice patio out front and one in the back with plenty of seating. I'll for sure be back for future Crew games or just for a nice laid back bar with good food.

Oh Jimmy V's how you have been there for me through many a random dates! I used to always suggest Jimmy V's as a first date location for several reasons...

The atmosphere... Its nothing fancy, but, its not a dive bar either.
The prices... Perfect first date prices... nothing too expensive or overwhelming.
The food... They have a huge variety... not the healthiest options though.
The people... A good combination of young and older.
The Patio...The one in the front isn't that great because it is right on High St. but, the back patio has its own bar and a TV!

The main reason I used to suggest it for first dates was because its in my neighborhood... but, not many of my friends actually go there that much, so, I could usually avoid awkward encounters.

I think it is time to re-visit good old Jimmy V's patio again soon.

Went here my first night in town, the menu selection was fair for this type of restaurant.  I ordered the Albanian pasta, very good, the salad not so much.  It was supposed to come with a "house" dressing that was basically red wine vinegar poured in to a plastic cup.  I couldn't even manage a few bites.  They do however pour a generous glass of wine and the waitstaff is very friendly and attentive.

Went here for my birthday this year and was quite impressed.  Atmosphere is very nice (lots of copper plating) and a great patio to sit on (we went on the first day of Spring so of course we sat outside).  However, the patio does have a copper water feature that, while beautiful, could induce a frequent need to use the restroom, especially if you're there to do drinks.  Service was very good and prompt -- we were there on a Sunday and the place was virtually empty, though.

For appetizers we had hummus (unique flavour, very good) and mussels (mild flavour, great herbed butter cooking liquor for dipping).  I had the lobster ravioli, which was in a brandied cream sauce and it was also delicious, and reasonably priced at $15.  Because it was my birthday, the server brought out a caramel cheesecake that was heavenly.  Overall, a very impressive eating out experience.

I went here with a girlfriend of mine a few years ago who liked the place and recommended we go there. The back patio was a pleasant surprise as was the panini i seem to recall ordering. I must've been a little nervous because i also recall drinking a little too much a little too fast. I almost forgot that i had ever eaten here till i looked at some other reviews that mentioned the patio. I should return here soon.

I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that this German Village staple was a Greek restaurant when I stopped by for the first time, as the name really doesn't give away much insight to the passer-by.  I started with an pita and hummus appetizer, I have to agree with Jon down there that it was not very tasty. It wasn't terrible, but the texture and the flavor were underwhelming for lack of a better way to phrase it. The Greek Panini I got as my entree was awesome, however. Tons of gyro meat and feta with a very generous helping of vegetables as well. It might get a bit dry after a few bites, so make sure to order the Greek sauce of your choice (mine being tzatziki, of course) on the side. I also agree with Jon about the patio in back as well- what a surprise! Seating out here is far more preferable than it is out front, that's for sure.

So I read Jonathan L's review of this place, and it kinda jogged my memory. I say to the boy, "Jimmy V's. It sounds familiar. We've been there, right?"
He replies, "Yeah, two or three times a couple of years ago. We sat on the patio, and you got drunk on cheap gin. But we went there cuz Kurt liked a girl who hung out there. Remember?"
    "Not really," I say.
"We met up with Kurt and Ed, and a bunch of their friends. You DO remember Kurt?"
"Well YES, of course," I snap.
"He had this thing about a girl way younger than him who was always there on a Thursday and Saturday night. Remember? Blonde girl, tall."
"Vaguely," I reply. "Did they hook up?"
"You don't remember her puking on his shoes??"

    No I don't.

    Good times.

Jimmy V who owns many other restaurants in Columbus, has only 2 that bear his name (the other is Grandview), This is really the centerpiece of his Albanian run chain of independent restaurants. The best thing about the place has got to be the rear patio, what was once a very ugly back alley has been transformed via copper and glass into a lovely patio that features a waterfall, a fireplace, winter heating, and a charming atmosphere. The manager of the location is very friendly and outgoing, and the staff are outgoing.

When they have it get the Moussaka , it is perfect, esp. if it is about 3-4 days old, (moussaka  needs time to set and the flavors to congeal, it is not nearly as pleasant the first day after it has been cooked).

If you go and Sam is your Bartender, tell her Jonathan sent you and order Jonathan's Gin Gimlet, she will hook it up with a perfect Gimlet, for those hottest of days.

The Hummus is not very good though, you may want to skip it in favor of the Saganaki, OPA!! (Who doesn't love flaming cheese, I mean really what could be cooler?
