I absolutely love this place! Incredible taste that you really have to experience for yourself!

I "shared" (my son ate about 1/4, mommy the rest) a Mexican hot chocolate ice cream sandwich the other day and omg was it amazing!!! My son's grandmother was concerned that he's missing out on treats since we are vegan. I can't wait to bring her one of these. Thank you thank you PhroZen.
The one and only criticism I have is the labeling. Sometimes the flavors are just written on and it is hard to read.

I like Phro Zen, but I am not sure my body can handle that much soyf at once. Then again, its probably a good thing because it forces me to eat a small amount of ice cream and not the entire pint.... which I would do!

This is a great option for anyone who has a gluten issue or wants a healthy alternative. Its not as creamy as ice cream but it still tastes pretty good and has a flavor and texture all its own. My personal favorite is Mint Chocolate Chip.

I will have some again... but only a small sample. Its a shame I don't have a soy issue or I would eat it pints at a time.

As far as vegan treats go, Phro Zen isn't to be missed!

I've followed them on Twitter and Facebook for many months before I ever had a chance to try their delicious confections. If you've never had vegan ice cream, give them a try.

I've had other vegan ice creams before and some were better than others. Some were watery, some were far too sweet... Phro Zen has many flavors that I absolutely love (Vanilla, and their Chocolate/Almond especially!) and some that I'm not much of a fan of (Mint). I want to try more of their flavors to find some additional favorites to add to my freezer, and I highly recommend for everyone to do the same!

What makes Phro Zen even better is the brain behind the deliciousness - the two Swallow sisters, Meg and Ellen. They are both quirky, funny, and friendly. Every time I've seen them displaying their home-made Phro Zen flavors at local events, they're bubbly and happy to chat it up with everyone and anyone.

Bottom line: if you want good, healthy options for sweet treats that support two fantastic entrepreneurs, look no further. Just don't be put off by the flavors you don't enjoy... just try some more until you find the ones you can't get enough of!

They say that to succeed in business you need to find a need and fill it. Now, I didn't realize there was a need for vegan ice cream that people with gluten allergies can eat, but I'm no visionary like Meg Swallow.

Meg, who's hard to miss in a crowd being both tall and vibrantly blonde, decided that it was time to add something like this to Cincinnati. So she and her sister created this ice cream that anyone can eat guilt-free.

They do crazy flavors like maple with salted walnuts featuring local maple syrup and chocolate ice cream with caramel swirl and chili-roasted almonds. You can find Phro*Zen at Park + Vine, where I tasted it for my second time (after having them at a Yelp party in February.)

Now, I'm going to be honest - on the first bite, I was like, "What is this." It's like ice cream but ... not. Still, on my second and third and fourth bite, I started to get into it. It doesn't have the richness of real ice cream but there is something cold and sweet and tasty about it.

Here's the thing, I'm probably not going to go out of my way to track this stuff down. I'd rather just get real ice cream (Sorry Meg) - but I'd rather get a real burger than a veggie-burger too. Still, I love the fact that this is in the neighborhood and someone is providing it for those who can't have or don't want the real thing. It's all homemade, it's all made with love and it's a great addition to Cincinnati. Five easy stars.

Meg Swallow is nothing short of chic, warmly cool, and full of smiles. Her joy is easy to taste in her delicious vegan ice creams.

What better than enjoying healthy desserts, that taste great, and supporting local Cincinnati artisans? Look for her seasonal flavors by the pint at Park + Vine. If you love it, (and I know you will) ask your local store to keep them in stock.

Cincinnati deserves access to healthy, dairy free alternatives.
