A true gem. An old school coffee house/folk music venue that's largely member supported, volunteer-run & BYOB. Incredibly intimate, amazing sound and exceptionally friendly people making sure your experience is a comfortable one whether you're attending a show, getting a cup of coffee &/or a snack or if you're playing there. A dying (mostly dead) breed for sure, but a classic venue that does so many of the little things right. The annual Frog Holler shows are absolutely can't miss events.

This place was like an extension of my living room the whole time I was growing up.  I love it, I will always love it.  It is a wonderful place, as anyone will tell you.

Godfrey Daniels coffeehouse, in downtown Bethlehem, has been presenting acoustic music in an intimate setting for 35 years. TIcket prices are very reasonable, due to their non-profit status, and state arts funding support from the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts.
Tonight's show featured one of my favorite blues artists, Rory Block, who performed for two hours. The sound system is excellent in the listening room, which seats about 90 people. My seat put me less than ten feet from the performer, who also autographed CD's after the show.

Their is also a counter up front, where you can buy coffee, teas, soft drinks, and homemade cookies, pies, and brownies. The pecan pie ($3) was delicious, not too sweet, with a delicate crust. As noted, you can also BYOB beer and wine.
In addition to performances by professional artists, the club runs jam sessions and open mike nights for local musicians and songwriters.

I'm shocked there are not more reviews up for Godfrey's.  Really a great find, just be sure your going to see a band playing music you like, the place is great but if you don't like the music it can't make up for that.  They have some really great shows there, both established and up and coming folks... plus a great mix of blues, folk, celtic, etc that you can't find anywhere else in the Valley.  I love the BYOB situation, wine store and 6 pack shop across the street usually open till 9:00!  Definitely check it out.  Non-Smoking is a plus too.

What??? How is it that NOBODY has yelps Godfey daniels?  I mean, this place is FAMOUS - and rightly so.  SOme of the best unknown, soon-to-be-known and never known, as well as well-known music and comedy acts have played here.

It's a great place to chill and have a drink and enjoy a great show.

It got me through my Lehigh era.
