Lizzy's is a neighborhoody, feel-good "dive-without-a-dive" bar that sits in one of the less easily accessible neighborhoods in Cambridge.  At 8 pm on a Friday night, Lizzy's wasn't too hopping, which made it easy for our party of folks to get drinks and cluster up and talk.  The bar staff were some hot, hot, ladies with hot ink, and spontaneous dance parties tended to break out among the staff.

This is a damn fine spot to grab a beverage with friends, if you have some, or maybe a place make some new friends if you don't have any.

I am happy that this place opened back up and I want to leave a better review BUT I miss the awesome mixed drinks (bring back the Narwhal!) and the beer menu is just okay. The service, however is awesome - friendly servers and prompt drinks. I have also been enjoying the funny signs they have been putting out and hope the outdoor seating comes back.

I will keep coming back here because I want more places like this in East Cambridge and I hope to leave a better review soon.

    Lizzy's gets 5 stars!

Not for there awesome cocktails or the great staff, but because of the music. They play classic 70's and 80's but they don't blast it loader and LOADER as the night goes on like most other bars. You can go and actually have a intimate conversation with another human and not have to talk over all the 'atmosphere'.

Keep up the awesome drinks :D

This place is quickly becoming one of my favorite neighborhood bars.  I've been here twice, and was served by the same bartender each time.  When I came back the second time she remembered me and the drink I ordered (vesper martinis)... which scores huge points with me.  My vespers were quite tasty even when she used the well liquors, and her service was always attentive and helpful with our questions about the menu.
On my first visit I had the "appetizer" of English Muffin Pizzas.  I put appetizer in quotes because it was basically a meal... two large muffin pizzas with a side greens salad.  It was pretty tasty and made with good quality ingredients.  My friend had the buffalo wings, and the one I had was really good... spicy hot but not too much, and the chicken was cooked perfectly.  Although the blue cheese dressing looked a little... sad and watery.
On my second visit, my friends and I sat on the patio to enjoy one of the last warm evenings of the season.  I had a couple more vespers (top shelf this time), and got a basket of fries... thin cut fries similar to McDonalds, a generous portion, and very good to snack on.
One of my favorite parts about this place is the women's bathroom.  You just have to check it out.

    "Sometimes you wanna go..."

No, seriously. This place is my very own Cheers. It took all of 2 visits to meet the owner (Miss Elizabeth herself), who enthusiastically engaged me and my boyfriend in conversation. She's amazing.

The bartenders and Lizzy remember my name and treat me like I've been a regular for ages (even though I'm fairly new to the bar). The mood in the place is really welcoming. The actual regulars are also really down-to-earth and friendly, open for a chat if you initiate conversation.

The bartenders are extremely talented, remember my "usual," and concoct cocktails to suit my tastes when I'm up for something new. The selection of cocktails includes your standards and also really interesting combinations that are REALLY delicious (order the Aloha Monkey--trust me). Drinks are really inexpensive for the quality and ingredients--it's nice to know that I'm having a better martini or cocktail in my own back yard than I would get downtown and for probably $5 less.

The food is fantastic! While they've got your standard pub fare (burgers, sandwiches), they also have fantastic entree and appetizer options. Lizzy's doesn't do anything small either. All of their dishes (including apps) are very generous portions and reasonably priced. They also do brunch, which is how we got hooked.

All of this adds up to my new favorite place to have food and drink. If you decide to come down, maybe I'll see you there!

2-hour wait for industry brunch at Trina's led us to Lizzy's. While I'd had cocktails there before (and loved 'em!) I hadn't had food yet, and the brunch experience definitely sealed the deal on my love of Lizzy's. Everything was so delicious, and practically every dish had the option of adding linguica. The brunchified cocktails also blew our minds, especially the whiskey daisy and something with absinthe in it. I'll be back for brunch, soon! And probably for dinner...and probably also just to drink.

The burger was awesome; the fries were fresh and abundant. The drink was perfect, and the service couldn't have been better. I would have given four stars, but here's the thing: I ordered a side of steamed broccoli and they charged me $7.95!!!! A bit egregious. The drink also was a bit pricey for a neighborhood place. But the ambiance was fantastic, and did I mention the dessert???? Wow!!!

The food here is atrocious!! We had some sort of mysterious lamb meatloaf that they called 'gyros' and a greasy grilled cheese sandwich with stale chips.
UGH.... we love supporting local, but will never eat here again!

I came to lizzy's with my fiance hoping to find a casual but delicious meal. The staff and atmosphere was welcoming. The food was mediocre at best and unfortunately we saw our food prepared with less than desirable methods. The cook picked up raw meat with the same gloves that he prepared the rest of our meal with. Overall not worth returning, especially with so many great local places down the street.

I've been here multiple times for drinks after work as I work right down the street. The other night two friends and I went in without our ids because we had been there, and were coming from work. My Hispanic friend is 40 with Grey hair, My Black Friend is 30, and I'm White but had my id. The bartender was  beyond ignorant. For having a PR flag and a gay flag, we were not welcomed. Every person stared us down like we were going to shoot up the place. I put my bag down to find my ID and the bartender told me I couldn't put my bag on a chair to do this. She just didn't want to serve us. We went down the street to Druid who gave us FANTASTIC service, and we left him a 100% tip. Her loss was his gain. I will tell everyone I know how we were treated here and will never return.

Traveled to Cambridge for work and ended up here after consulting my YELP app for the iPhone. I wasn't disappointed - great atmosphere, super friendly staff and the food was much, much, much better than I expected.

I sat down and quickly got engaged in conversation with two locals sitting at the bar and the bartender --- when you're from out of town (especially being from Los Angeles), you never know how you'll be received at a neighborhood, blue-collar type of establishment such as Lizzy's but they definitely treated me like family.

A few beers later I was diving into their homemade Fried Chicken and Mashed Potato's and it was just want the doctor ordered after a long flight and crappy airplane food. The chicken was breaded perfectly, seasoned wonderfully with a little kick from the spices. The potato's were yummy too, homemade gravy --- so damn good. Of course I drenched the plate in hot sauce and scarfed it all down in record time.

Apparently they have the same Fried Chicken with Waffles every Saturday (or Sunday?) and I would highly, highly recommend that you give it a shot if you live locally.

And, when I'm back in Cambridge --- I'm definitely swinging by for another visit!

This place is great! Here for a conference and staying with friends went to Lizzy's by myself and the bartenders were super friendly. Derrick is a great, the food was tasty and well priced. Had some good beer and interesting conversations with locals. Made me feel at home. I definitely recommend to anyone who appreciates a good pub with good food and great people on staff.

Okay, so the people who work here are HELLA cool -- mad down to earth, hardworking, mouthy, humbled, welcoming, get attitude when you get pretentious -- it's like family.

Oh, and they have good food and excellent drinks.

They have a rainbow flag, a tennessee flag and a puerto rican flag.

They have cool pictures to connote the history of the place.

I know it's in businesses' best interest to treat people like they care about them because it gets them to keep coming back and spending their money, but here I feel like it's sincere.  (I know what you are saying: "yeah, right -- keep telling yourself that."  But whatever, there's enough places that treat you shitty, WHY wouldn't you spend your money in a place that treat you nice???)

Good company does make a difference of how food and drinks are tasted, if you need to eat alone and don't want to-- EAT HERE.  If you want to be left alone, eat here.

As Sara M said below can be a dangerous place if it is around your corner.  She's right.  I live around the corner.

Lizzy's is as good as it gets for a cozy, friendly local bar. The menu is constantly changing in delicious, creative and playful ways. There are funny theme nights, such as "8 Days of Hanukah" or Halloween party where patrons comes dressed as their fave characters from a Coen brothers movie. Feel like I am really in a larger version of the owner's living room.   Lizzy's is named for the chef/owner's  wife. And they have darts. Hard to top all  that.

This is the kind of place that would be really dangerous if it were located around the corner from my apartment. Even so, the fact that it's a short T ride away is hazardous to my wallet (and liver).

The atmosphere is like your living room, if your living room were equipped with a full bar, a kitchen, a dart board, an awesome jukebox, and a bunch of cool people. It's so easy to show up and hang out for hours, hardly noticing the time flying by. The food is above-average pub-grub: tasty, well made, and thoroughly enjoyable. We followed the suggestion of Lizz (yes, that Lizz) and got a bunch of appetizers. My favorite were the catfish skewers, but the duck tartlets were also great. And the fries were perfection. However, the star of the night was Ted: our bartender. Every mixed drink we tried left us wanting more. I highly recommend giving him some leeway to make something up with one of your choice cocktail ingredients. They also seem to have a good beer menu, but I didn't try it out.

I dare you to try this place out and see if you don't experience the same temptation to return as often as possible without crossing that invisible line over to "drunk" and/or "groupie"...

Such a fantastic place. Great staff, the bar manager Ronit runs a tight ship with a kickass cocktail menu, and Josh makes the best brunch in Boston. Amazing Chicken and waffles with sausage gravy, french toast with homemade vanilla whip and a caprese grilled pizza top my favorite foods list. As far as drinks go, you're going to love anything on the menu, but my personal favorite is the Persephone and the Corpse Reviver. Definitely give this place a visit.

Before reaching legal drinking status, I think everyone believes all bars will be an awesome watering hole worth spending hours drinking, eating, and chatting with friendly bartenders and regulars. In other words, a place where Everyone Knows Your Nameâ„¢.

In reality, this expectation is hardly the norm in this town full of bars: a soul-crushing realization when searching for your home away from home. All hope is not lost, denizens of East Cambridge. Lizzy's has reestablished the neighborhood joint with style and comfort.

Sam Malone may not be slinging suds behind the bar, but the cast of characters at Lizzy's are all genuine and friendly, happy to see you if you show up solo or bring a menagerie of 30 who commandeer the entire bar.

The small food menu goes a bit beyond pub grub, with Chinese pork buns, tasty soup specials, and a stellar burger (topped with a ridiculous amount of bacon for  $1 more) for noshing between libations. The signature cocktail list offers some classics like a delicious (and potent) Mai Tai, and some more creative drinks like the Maine Squeeze. Bourbon, blueberry, and cinnamon together in one glass. Who knew? Have a chat with your bartender and they'll be glad to create you something to your taste. I asked them to rename the whiskey lemon drop as "The EG" but I don't think it's caught on yet.

There are very few establishments featured in my weekly rotation, but Lizzy's immediately made into my regularly scheduled programming. This is the bar dreams are made of.

A half-new place in East Cambridge. It's the same pub that used to be Pugliese's that has been bought by new owners. Looks about the same inside, but the new owners seem to be giving the place a bit different of a personality. I never really felt, I'm not sure how to describe it, "welcomed" when I would go into Pugs. The Lizzy's people, though, feel much more friendly, and more personable.

They're definitely mostly pub, and not as much restaurant. Their food menu is relatively short, and its contents are a step above pub food, though maybe not a very big step. The key for me is, everything we've ordered has been very good. I never thought I'd talk about chicken salad, but, seriously, try their chicken salad sandwich. Absolutely delicious.

Their cocktail menu is the complete opposite from their food. Very varied and interesting, and very knowledgeable bar staff. After talking with them about the kind of cocktails I tend to like, the woman who was serving came up with a near-perfect cocktail (whose name I cannot remember) for my taste and mood.

All in all, a very good place to go. I'm not going to cross East Side Bar & Grill (just a block down Cambridge street) off my list, but I'll certainly add Lizzy's to my list when I'm in the mood for pub food.

What a fun neighborhood bar/restaurant!  Small, not terribly crowded.  Warm, welcoming and friendly.

Let's start with the drinks:  a classic Hendricks martini for me, mixed up just right.  Not a HUGE martini glass, where the drink gets warm before you've finished it, but a nice sized glass to really enjoy the drink.  For hubby and inlaws, good locally-sourced seasonal beer.  For my 12-year old son, a cocktail of ginger beer, lime juice and ice that was way better than the usual  Rob Roy.

The menu was limited, but who cares!  The food was excellent. From the Monte Cristo to the Smoked Chicken Salad, to the flatbread pizza to the crab and avocado salad, everything was simply and perfectly done.  The crab and avocado salad was served on mizuna (not a wilted bit in sight) with  a delightful lemony vinaigrette and hearts of palm.  Potato chips are home made.  Sandwiches were wonderfully tasty and freshly made - if you sit at the bar, you can watch the cook make yours.

All plates were cleaned, right down to the last chip, and all glasses were drained.

Prices were reasonable - we spend about $25 per person, including drinks, for dinner.

A most excellent revamp from Pug's, Lizzy's could easily join Atwood's as a destination tavern in East Cambridge.

It's an intimate setting, with accidental (and maybe not-so) booty grinds inevitable en route to the bathroom. There's a dartboard, five flat screens around the bar, decent taps and - hold the phone - black lights and a disco ball? Home base for sports games and sexy parties = double victory.

Arrived too late to sample the menu, and the adept cocktails didn't challenge the mixology skills I'm sure the tenders possess, but as a chill place for you and fifteen friends to run on a quiet night, Lizzy's belongs on the short list.

An unexpected gem: classic cocktails, fabulous food, and friendly people.  The Sunday brunch is outstanding, as are each and every one of the appetizers (and I've tried them all).  Menu highlights: the tamales; the Chinese steamed buns; and the Casalinga salad (yes, a salad).  The breakfast burrito is one of the best I've ever had.

Drink highlights: anything.  Really.  Don't get your usual G&T or Captain & Coke.  Try one of the selections from their specialty cocktail menu.

This incredibly friendly pub has become our go-to hot spot after our show.  The owners and staff always make us feel incredibly welcome - and it's visited by a diverse set of neighborhood folks.  Truly a "Cheers" for the new millennium.

I can particularly recommend the fabulous mixed drinks, the pulled pork sandwich, and the casalinga salad.  Wow good!

Also - prices and portion sizes are very reasonable!
