Just a great place to get a drink and have some good food. Â They seem to put a surprising amount of thought and effort into their menu. Â I could handle them having a few more beers on tap, but I'll take a couple of super friendly, down to earth owners over that any day! Â They've been running this place for 17 years and seem to love it, and so do their patrons.
Review Source:They've got Buzztime trivia and will put it on even if some bozo really wants to watch the St. Louis basketball game.....this is Ashburn, not St. Louis. Â Sorry. Â
The food is well priced and very good - Saturday night they have a "buy two for $22" special on steaks and prime rib.  It is noisy, people here love to party and drink, the music is all over the map, but there is no other place quite like it.  A little far to go for a Reston-ite like  me, but a nice diversion.  Need more craft beers on tap, though....
A very unique place given it's geolocation of Ashburn. Â The Florida Gator decor is cool, and the crowd likes to drink.
My funny story is the first time I went, I walk in the front to find two 50 something women dancing on the bar. Â A sight to behold. Â And they were not lookers.
Came back for a friend of a friend's surprise birthday party - good band, and fun.
They also have a driving service that picks up or drops off - haven't used it - have taken cabs, but nice touch.
This pub used to be my favorite watering hole for over 10 years before moving to SoCal. Scooby is one of the owners and she is always there to greet you with a smile and your favorite beverage. Kevin (Double Down) is one of the managers and brings in live music, games, costume parties and everything you can imagine to make it a fun night. My only complaint is there isn't enough space. Come a bit early because by 9:00 it's standing room only. But then again... isn't that what you want? I Love This Bar
Review Source:Great place to meet friends in Ashburn. Close to home and a hot spot in "da Burn." The owner, wait staff, and bartenders are very customer oriented and keep your drinks filled. Many beers on tap and in bottles to choose from. Their theme nights always keep me coming back. Can't wait for their Chili Cook-offs.
Review Source:This little gem in Ashburn never disappoints. Â The daily specials are the closest you can get around to a home cooked meal. Â The chili is the best! Â Especially on a nice cold day. Â They are always doing fun events and giving back to the local community. Â You can tell they live by the philosophy, take care of the community and it will take care of you. Â Try the Beaver Wings... and no they aren't beaver, they are just good.
Review Source:The epitome of "no matter where you're from, tonight you're from right here".
Read the reviews about Moe's Bar analogies, and I think that's only as congruent as everyone seems to know each other. You don't go here for the decor, but the warm atmosphere of the patrons and staff. Non stop smiles, non stop laughter, and soon you're sucked in as one of their own. The music was loud, lots of rock from today, and the 80s, everyone sang along. Crowd ranged from 20s to 60s...very diverse in ages. Cute bar staff too. Good people go here, and it's great to meld with folks who lack any pretentious air and simply enjoy living. It's that comfortable.
In comparison to the Irish Bar around the block Finnegans, no comparison. That place was much colder and dragging along in its institutionalization. Just sadder and lacked life in comparison to Ashburn Pub.
I had the boneless chicken wings which were awesome, 5 beers later and got out of there for around $30. That's a good evening, and I will be back for sure.
I have lived in Ashburn for 13 years, and I still love the Ashburn Pub for food, drinks and a friendly atmosphere. Â Try the Steak Tidbits for an appetizer, daily specials are always good, and don't forget the Beaver-Style Wings or the Beaver Chicken Sandwich (my new favorite)! Â Of course, no visit to Ashburn Pub is complete without a cold, cold shot of Tuaca! Â Delicious...
Review Source:OK, here is the deal with these ratings. You have people who go to bars for the atmosphere and you have people who go to bars for the beer, bar food, and to watch some games and possibly converse with some people about how bad the Washington teams are. This is the latter type. You're more than likely not going to meet chicks here unless you are pretty desperate. Â Anyways, I went here not really knowing what to expect. I had 3 beers and my wife had one herself. We got wings and a big nacho platter. The check comes and I am still under $20 bucks. Not sure how anyone can complain about that. I'm coming back for the Skins games, assuming they play this year to see the atmosphere then.
Review Source:One word. Ridculous.
The first time I was here was a total accident. I was visiting a friend in Virginia and we stumbled across this place. That night, they had a DJ and he was pretty much playing all of the Eddie Money, Queen, Journey and other 70's/80's gems that we wanted to hear.
There is a Tuaca machine with a ski that has 4 shots in said ski. We watched as a group of guys adorned ski goggles and drank out of the ski at the same time. Sheer epic college douchebaggery at its finest. I wanted in.
I revisited the Ashburn pub last weekend when I was back in VA and I can safely say, this bar has quite the cast of characters, the same cheap drinks that I remember, and is always ALWAYS good for at least a few stories to take back home and share. Let's be honest, the real reason we came back was to do the ski shot.
But back to the funny stories... I was at this place for about 20 minutes before I heard the worst pickup line of the decade. "did you come here to get pregnant?"
Um. No. definitely not. Especially not at a dive bar in northern Virginia. But thanks buddy! You provided the quote of the weekend and a lifetime memory. So, if cheap drinks, people watching and laughing ALOT are your thing, I recommend this place.
Moe's Tavern. Couldn't have said it better myself. THIS, is a hole in the wall. Always heard the expression but it's something mystical experiencing it. For one thing, it is way to smoke filled. Now I'm a man who enjoys his Camel No 9's but my god, it is too small for that much smoke. No vents or windows except the door.
The crowd seems like they know each other, and they probably do. The bartenders- are ok, servers -are ok but nothing special. I got the feeling that if you didn't know the employees from outside the bar, then you won't as noticed. It's a great place to hide if your on the run or if you're feeling down about your life. Maybe not, well it'll work it's magic. Nothing impressive, extreme amounts of smoke and some bucktooths.
A little smokey but what do you expect until Jan 2010 when smoking inside restaurants and bars in VA will be extinguished. I love this place, they have great drink specials and I love the food, especially the "Beaver" Wings are the best in town compared to Glory Days. Great hang out afterwork for happy hour. You can't go wrong with 2 for 1 NY steak or prime rib on Saturdays. They even have a poker league play there. All in all great local place for pub food and spirits. Great service as well!
Review Source:Come here if you enjoy smelling like sweat, shame and stale Marlboro Reds at the end of the night.
The crowd reminds me of the regulars at Moe's Tavern; people that've just given up on life so they come here because they don't know what else to do with themselves. Â It should tell you something that they have a Tuaca machine - I didn't know anyone actually paid to drink Tuaca. Â I thought it was something kids did on a stupid dare.
