Daddy Jones

Daddy Jones is a great place to have some dinner and cocktail.

The restaurant is run by Dimitra.

I'm being specific for a reason; The place has character and focus.

Everything in the restaurant has it's place: fancy antique cocktail glasses, wood place-mats, 'Thank You' cards enclose your check, the dishware is interesting and rotates often. The ice cubes are huge and clear.

Attention is paid to detail. It's focused in it's execution.

The drink list and food menu are 'small' in that regard. If you need a huge menu to choose from, this likely isn't your spot. This place is about a small menu, done well.

However, the bar is well stocked and possesses bottles of things you won't likely find elsewhere. If you like cocktails and absinthe, you should check it out...

The bar staff is worthy of a following. Simone, Courtney, and Stephanie are all great in their ability to work the bar. Patient with the indecisive and always willing to make you something special or sample what's on draft.

They recently started doing brunch as well and frankly I'd rather not discuss it.
It's great, and never crowded. I have no idea why you would wait outside Sound Bites down the street.

Chicken Souvlaki extra Tzatziki , or
Greek Salad - I'm not normally a salad person.

Dear Daddy Jones,

I was a bit sad.  I had stumbled into many Somerville establishments and I have been greeted with hipster grins, lots of plaid and a mild amount of attitude (it's expected and a-ok).

I waltzed, well, kinda walked, into your place.  I was hungry.  I needed a seat at the bar and I was Jonesin' for a brew.

I was greeted with a huge smile by the attentive bartender (SIMONE).  Menu in hand within minutes of sitting down in the cool bar area I ordered up a beer.  Please and thank you's were flying across the bar so much that I thought I may have magically been transported down South.  

The appetizers are all delightful.  My favorite is the Pita and Dip with whipped feta and roasted red peppers that have just enough kick to them.  The drink list is great and the cocktails are served up with ease and attentiveness.

The atmosphere completely kicks all kinds of bootay.  From the hand written thank you notes with your tab to the games sprawled out on the bar...I loved it.  The dim lighting is perfect and the music gives a nod to the 90's.

Overall, love this place.  Absolutely will be a frequent here.
