Genji Japanese Restaurant & Karaoke Bar

I give it 5 stars. Not for the location or setting but for the AWESOME karaoke and the amazing food. The private rooms only cost $75 and hour and that can easily be covered with food and drinks. The service was really good and the owners were so nice. The place is very hole-in-the-wall type place.

Cheap and decent Japanese tapas and sushi and drinks.
I was apprehensive about going to GENJI bc I heard it's dangerous, past shootings or whatnot, but they do have a security guard so that made me feel better.

It's an open karaoke bar, but there's also private rooms. The big room in the corner is $70/hr minimum, but if you get bottle service that covers that. I've only been in the big room so I'm not sure if the rates for the smaller rooms might be less. From the American songs database you can switch the system over to the Korean system, which uses a different book, separate remote, whole separate thing. just in case you wanted to sing those korean songs !

The staff is pleasant and attentive. It may be harder to get their attention when it gets busy, but they're always nice.
Overall, a night of karaoke is always fun ! and yummy. and safe :)

This was my first visit to a karaoke bar, as opposed to a bar that offers karaoke.

It's definitely a hole in the wall but we had an absolute blast. The drink prices were pretty reasonable, and so were the rates to rent a private room, which we did.

I would definitely go back.
