Is it really necessary to review an institution like this? Â Well, since I'm an out of towner, I figure why not? Â The customer service here is really great, they even gave me a little goody bag when they heard it was my first time. Â
I went with the four way (onions instead of beans at the consideration for those who will soon be sitting near me), it came out in less than five minutes, perfect if you want an early morning meal before running off to catch a flight (assuming you don't have a sensitive stomach, especially while flying). Â I think a small is a perfect size for a light lunch as the portions are definitely generous given the prices.
I haven't tried any of the coneys yet, but it'll be on the list for my next trip. Â Regardless, if you're visiting Cincinnati, this has to be one of your meals...
Thoroughly impressed by the level of customer service here. Very nice, aunt-like servers that gave us small samples and tied bibs around our necks when we told them it was our first time in Cincinnati! Â The concept of a 3-way is very very similar to spaghetti and cheese with chili instead of meat sauce, but doesn't look very appetizing....until you try it. Â Flavors actually play really well with each other, especially if you get the habanero cheese (which you really should). I find the chili a little watery compared to what I've been used to, but I would recommend that you try Gold Star Chili as well, and then compare and contrast.
This particular location isn't open on Sundays, and is open only for about 4 hours or so on Saturday.
BTW: if you like the chili, know that you can get a can at any local supermarket for about $4...pricey but if you're visiting, it's a very local gift for your friends back home.
Something's not right here.
The cheese wasn't as fluffy and delicate as usual. The chili was just luke warm. The cheese coneys were sloppily assembled, with a droopy bottom and hot dog cascading out of the bun. All of the chili ended up in the bottom of my to go box.
With a half-dozen Skylines in walking distance Downtown, I'll be taking my business up the street.
