I wish I didn't have to work on Mondays!  Just moving to Boston, I was trying to find a place that was no frills, just pure dancing.  I stumbled upon the yelp review for this party and figured to check it this past Sunday-- esp since I didn't have to work on Marathon Monday!  The place was great-- great music with the most diverse crowd in Boston!  I prefer high energy house myself, so it got a bit too mellow for me  by 1AM, but the dj definitely kicked some tracks up a notch during the night.  If I have another Monday off, I'll definitey go back!
Review Source:there is one undeniable truth when it comes to utopia.
people come to dance.
house is not honestly what i normally listen or dance to, but it's really worth coming to this event. Â people aren't showing up at utopia to grind and get numbers. Â people are coming to move... and in so many different ways: they're breaking, they're doing capoeira, they're doing salsa, or they're sliding around on the floor. Â
come and watch... eventually you'll start moving
I have to give up to Bruno and the rest of the Boston house scene for keeping Utopia alive for so long. Utopia brings together all sorts of people for a night that's all about dancing. You don't even need to know how to dance because if you ask nicely, someone will teach you.
Now, you just could grab a drink and a table along the walls and watch the breakers, poppers, and house dancers that come through, but this seriously soulful house will make you want to get on your feet. So, dress comfortably, put on some good shoes, and come out.
Bruno has been leading the charge for soulful house music in Boston, for more than 20 years and hasn't lost a step. While, I am too young to have made it to the Loft, I have followed this night from when it was at the Playhouse on Landsdowne St., to some boat in the Financial District, to now at An Tua Nua. Â If you're looking to dance your ass off to some great music in welcoming environment, look no further this is your night.
Review Source:I remember this night when it was downstairs at the Paradise in Cambridge. And hearing Armand's remix of "Professional Widow" out for the first time gave me goosebumps then when i was 20, and I'm about to turn 33 and it still gives me the same happy feeling.
Bruno is the hardest working guy in town when it comes to a consistently fun night. The years have worn me down a bit, so I don't go out as much, but I do my best to try to head out down to the new home at An Tua Nua. Good times and good people!
