Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar

I am a major foodie and went to Fleming's for the first time recently. I believe this is an alright steakhouse but its not the best. The steaks were mediocre, and the sides were alright. The dessert was ok. I believe the hype is all behind the name, but not in the differentiation this restaurant supposedly brings.

quick early dinner for Happy Hour! Came early around 5 pm and got a table at bar fairly easily. Service excellent! Bar area filled up quickly. Happy hour menu decent. Best thing on there is the pot belly. Between the hubby and I, we ate 2 orders of pot belly (5 stars), one meatballs (4 stars), BBQ shrimp (1 star), 3 mixed drinks  (4-5 stars), choco lava cake (5 stars), and coffee. Cost-~$100. Still not cheap though. nice atmosphere. would come again.

2nd. time at this location on special occasion. Usually go to River Oaks.

Last time here a bit crowded and noisy. This time - more so. Feels like they have  25% more table than they should have. Had 36.95 prime rib special. Not like it used to be. No little cheese spreads before dinner, just biscuits. No choices on sides. Food was OK but not as good as I have had in the past. Carrots were flavorless and almost raw. Potatoes were OK. Prime rib was good but not great. Children's menu was $17.95 for not much of anything. Really!!! Main course arrived before salads were close to being finished. Will never go to this location again. Will check if the same menu is offered at the River Oaks location and if it is, I am finished with Flemings.

There are so many great restaurants in Houston. Why bother with mediocre.
