Great customer service, knowledgeable staff, friendly patrons, and good food and good wine. To use a phrase, "I'll be back!"

We had a friend invite us here for a game night.  We ended up taking over a large table and playing pictionary til closing time (which was 11 on Wednesdays).  Shawn was our Wine guide for the evening and he rocked it.  He made sure to take care of our large party by hooking us up with pizza's (the pesto one was awesome), cheese platters and other apps and was spot on when asking about their wines and making a suggestion (a great syrah within our $50 price range).  We defintiely want to try and make it back for more games and shenanigans. If I didn't live in Katy this would probably be my new hang out.

I came here recently with a friend, and was pleasantly surprised.  I heard about this place via a voucher program, and was very happy I discovered it.  It is a bit hidden off the road on the corner, so keep your eyes peeled.  The inside kind of had a renaissance castle meets a little old eclectic lady feel, but it really was charming.  They have both indoor and outdoor seating.  My friend and I each had a glass of moscato, that was very tasty.  We both split a cheese plate and the pesto pizza, and left very full.  It looks like it attracts an older crowd, but that is just fine with me for I like quite and intimate types of places.  I don't remember the price, but they hold wine tastings on Saturday I believe. They also offer happy hour too.  I will make a point to stop by again soon.

I was quite the fan after I came here last night.  The food is alright, but the wine selection is pretty great.  You can get some wines by the glass, several more by the bottle, and if you don't finish the bottle, they'll cork it for you to take home.

We were served by Abby, who is super friendly and apparently really good at remembering what you like (price- and flavor-wise) and can make other recommendations based off of that.  I know she's savvy.  I asked her about Cakebread because I had heard of it.  "Don't go there.  It's a name everyone recognizes, a convincing price point, but not a convincing taste."

So what makes this place so great?  Sounds like a lot of other wine bars.  Oh, it's the intimately lit shabby chic interior where there are a lot of little couches with tables mixed with actual dining tables.  It's great that you can pick your experience - something akin to The Couch from Friends or a table with chairs.  Loved this.  Loved even more that they have some room around the corner with lots of loveseats and a table for a small party (maybe 10-12 people?).

Live music Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, so these are the days to come.
     -  TUE:  Beatles, Pink Floyd, seems like other classic rock / oldies
     -  WED:  Wasi Townsend.  Dude has an awesome voice and plays guitar.  Sounds like Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and Jack Johnson all gave him a piece of their vocal styles.  He does covers of everything from Anna Nalick, Gotye, Kings of Leon, Tracy Chapman, Lenny Kravitz, and a few originals.  What I like about him is that he puts his own spin on everything.  Comes across as really genuine, authentic, and more original than some karaoke king.
     -  SAT:  Jazz.  (Not sure on the specifics)

This place has special events like $8 wine tastings on Saturdays and wine pairings with meals (I think the next one is May 31).  Honestly, I really liked this place, but it's a little farther out for me.  I hope to come back often.

This was an amazing find thanks to yelp! We were finished with rock climbing and we wanted to drink some wine so we yelp to see what was around. Never expected this place to be so cool!!

The service was great, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Good wine selection, wouldn't say the best because I'm picky with wine but still good.

The ambiance of the place is what makes it. It's so cozy and eclectic but we were still in our workout clothes and it was cool. The music selection they had on was awesome, lot of indie music haha

We went on Tuesday and they have wine and pizza pairing for $10!

My wife and I were recently at the Vine Wine Room on Memorial.  There were a few tables outside, so we grabbed one of those on the corner.

Ambience:  The interior seemed very nice and cozy.  We were sitting outside, which was nicely decorated to mask the fact that you're sitting in a strip mall.  With the setting of the evening sun's last glimmering rays over the rooftops of the adjacent strip malls and empty parking lots, we were hoping to be transported to a romantic place.  However, we were rudely brought back to reality as soon as the bright white strip-mall neon lights went on, detailing for us that we were just steps away from the car wash station.

Food/Drinks:  We had the cheese plate, which was actually very good.  We enjoyed the cheese plate and was excited to get to the next thing....the pizza.  We had the margherita pizza, which was not as good.  It was more like something that we produce on late Wednesday nights from our oven at home (frozen pizza).  The wines by the glass selection were limited, and we were hoping for availability of wine flights for more of a tastings.

Service:  Staff seemed nice and friendly, although not very efficient at getting the lines through the bottleneck at the ordering counter.  Their "tab" system was a particularly interesting concept.  I ordered the food and bottle at the counter.  They opened the bottle at the counter and handed me the glasses for me to take to my table.  When asked if I wanted a "tab" to put all my orders on, I said, "sure....if that's how it's done here".  Then, they asked to HOLD ON TO MY CREDIT CARD DURING MY VISIT!!  That's a new concept to a bar "tab".  I wondered if they have had hooligans who drank and ran in the past.  I've never been to any other wine room or restaurant where they held on to a credit card as collateral while you enjoyed the drinks/meals.

Overall, I'm glad that they didn't lose my credit card or get it mixed up with the stack of the other customer's cards.  However, I don't think we will be coming back to a place where they don't trust their customers enough that they would request a credit card as collateral while I "enjoy" my mediocre foods and limited-selection drinks while gazing longingly into the last golden sun rays settling over the rooftops of the empty strip mall parking lots.

If you want a great bottle of wine with some great bargain prices for many selections, check out VWR. The cheese plates are a great way to experience the wines and whet your appetite for dinner at many of the nearby excellent eateries in the Memorial area.

We go here after a nice meal quite often.  I prefer it after 10 or so when the live music is put away and the soothing music comes on.  Eclectic and comfortable environment.  Great wine, never had a bad glass, whether letting them pick a bottle, or selecting from one of the 5 open selections from the evening.  Very cool place that I am pleased to have in my neighborhood.

Really glad we found this place!  It's tucked off of Memorial near the west side of the beltway (in the shopping center next to Rice Epicurean and Blockbuster).  We stopped by on a Saturday night for a drink.  Their wines by the glass ranged in price from $6-$18.  I was hoping to try the dry sparkling rose, but they were out.  My friend and I both ended up with the Malbec ($7) instead and thoroughly enjoyed it.  My bf wanted a beer and fortunately they had them!  They were only offering bottles of Stella Artois and Heineken for $5...he wanted Stella Artois, but again, they were out.

The atmosphere drew in an older crowd (no one much younger than 30, besides us).  It was fortunate because we weren't in the mood to be around a bunch of rowdy kids.  There was no smoke in here (even though they sell cigars at the counter), no loud obnoxious music (can't hurt my poor lil ears) and it was not crowded at all.  The low lit room with chandeliers offered plenty of seating options in a very inviting ambiance with big wooden tables and soft, cozy cushions (armchairs, couches).  We were in love with the acoustic spanish guitarists (not the guys themselves, but the music) playing in the corner.  Totally gave the place a great vibe.  I would love to come back here!

I am not in a habit of giving a full 5 stars willy nillly and you have to be careful not to confuse how much fun you are having with the actual performance of a place but this is one of those instances where it all comes together.

I had not been to the Vine Room (on Memorial between Gessner and Beltway) in over a year and shame on me. We arrived around 3ish and Joe the owner was piddling around. My guests were already there and seated in the most comfy part of the main area on the crushed velvet chair and adjoining couch. I was looking for a Pinot and Joe let me taste the choice by the glass....after having a Barnett Pinot 2007 recently, I was looking for something smoother and suggested that the bitterness in the taste might have meant, the open bottle hadnt been properly stored. Joe took a sip and agreed. Thats when we walked over to the shelf of Pinot's and he suggested two others that were very reasonable at $18 and $16...a bottle, not a glass! I decided on the Belle Valle. He opened it up and let me taste it and I suggested at this price I could afford to make a mistake, which he countered with "no big deal either way", which I translated into, "we are going to find one that works". Great choice, incredible price.

We decided on an assorted cheese tray that was a little skimpy at $16 but the cheese was delicious. I would like to see thinly sliced baguette bread served ala Celsius but it served the purpose.

We asked Joe to dim the lights a bit and he was gracious to do so (eventhough it was early afternoon). The music was great...they pipe in some classic standards from satellite. Great atmosphere for a stormy day.

As people begin to show up afterwork, they were choosing between cafe table and chairs or benches and tables in the main room. It was never loud, but for those in the wine club, there is a small private room that you can gain access to if privacy and or sound is an issue.

The second bottle went down as good as the first and then one of the regular patros suggested a Pinot Gris that Capa something for $14/bottle that was an absolute homerun.

All in all this was a great experience and I highly recommend this place for those wine drinkers that are looking for value and are more interested in who they are with rather than to see and be seen.

I have been to vine twice, it is a nice place to have a glass of wine, or a bottle and share it with friends.

I have been to Vine a couple of times now.  Once with friends to enjoy a glass of wine (or three), and yesterday to attend the Saturday wine tasting.  What a nice place.  It's tucked away in a strip center facing away from the street so you have to know it's there.  They have antique and wrought iron tables outside so you can take advantage of Houston's twelve days of gorgeous weather that we get a year.  Inside is cozy with small tables and sofas scattered about and a few larger tables for bigger parties.

If you are going for wine by the glass, they have a list which changes regularly offering enough variety so you don't have to drink the same thing every time.  The bottles are reasonably priced and there is no corkage fee.  The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and will take time to give you the story behind the wine.

The Saturday afternoon tasting was fabulous.  They focus on a different region every week.  Yesterday was South American wines.  The charge is $6 for the tasting and they pour between 5 & 7 wines.  We had a nice progression from an Argentinian Torrentes to a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc to a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by a nice Malbec and then finished with this Cabernet blended with about 5 other grapes that was pure nectar.  The wine distributor was there with background for each wine and, of course, each wine was available for purchase.

I am really glad I found Vine Wine Room and have every intention of making it a regular stop when out with my "wine Friends."
