It is unfortunate that I have to write this review, but I want to forewarn people about an issue that I had at Bungalow Billiards. Â I went into Bungalow's four days in a row and had the same amount of drinks. Â On three of those days, the bill was exactly the same. Â However, on the fourth day, the beer prices changed. Â The number of drinks was exactly the same, but all of the sudden the price of a draft beer went up more than $1.25 per drink. Â When I questioned both the bartender and the manager, I was told that is the price. Â I asked if it was possible that the machine was not pricing for happy hour. The manager said, nope and walked away. Â Strange how the bill could just change for the exact same number of drinks (all the while I was there at the same time of day). Â Oh well, I won't go back. Â
I don't have an issue paying for what I consume, however, it strikes me as odd that the price magically changed with the bartender.
Bungalow Billiards is one of my favorite places to go for good bar-type food and a game of pool. Â The friendly staff and non-smoking space allow you to enjoy yourself. Â Favorites include the Cobb Salad as well as their appetizers. Â Don't come here for the heavy-duty stuff, and enjoy their core food - appetizers and other shareable items, plus salad. Â I have never been there when it's too busy, but I would expect the weekends to get rowdy. Â A perfect spot for an after-work game of pool and snacks. Â Â Access is fast and it's central to several highways. Â The service is fast and accurate. Â Easy-win for after-work get togethers.
Review Source:This is a great local hang out. There are a lot of pool tables and the food is pretty decent. We tried the chili nachos and chicken tenders. Both were very good. The chili in the nachos was awesome and the chicken tenders were super crispy and came with a yummy dipping sauce. Once cool thing about this place is they serve their large beers in mason jars. They have a large selection of beers to choose from as well. When we went there was a live band, if that's your thing. It just made it seem really loud to me, but it's loud in there to begin with. Very laid-back atmosphere. The service could have been a little better, but I think we went on a really busy night.
Review Source:Burgers @ Bungalow - - surprisingly, good! Definitely wouldn't expect the quality and selection from a neighborhood bar/grill but Bungalow is  bustin' the burgers out.
In need of a quickie? Size does matter here, each burger at Bungalows is 1/2lb so it can fill ya up all the way or give you a 2nd chance to finish the job the day after.
Check out their menu for the exact listing but I have been pleasantly surprised on the last two burgers ordered here. The classic and the smokehouse (modified it a try bit to make it a cubanos style powerhouse).
IMPORTANT - GO ON Monday at or after 5pm all burgers are half price and you walk away with a huge hand hugging delight for about five bucks which includes seasoned fries. A deal you should jump on.
Also, the best spot is on the non-smoking side where there are booths to chat with your friends.
i went to Bungalow in chantilly today 9/20/12
me n my friend had a good time.
to be honest.. our bill was 45 bucks. my friend paid with his credit card and i paid tip the 'server' for 8 dollars with cash.
when we are out for a smoking after operating hour is done. looks like 'server's friends came to us and say something that we dont even know.
we found out their friends know exactly how much our bill was and asking why we did not tip the server...........
i told ppl that i gave him a cash...
well........
this is business.. owner of this business should let server know that their customers bill should not to show to their friends.
no one would feel good when server`s freinds come out for how much tip the servers cause it is all up customers decision not their friends.
hey guys.. i love to hang out here and this is my first very bad feelin about this business cause i felt like this is turning like a elementry school kids part time job place.
i will be here next time to see how management actually care a customer`s opinion and try to do something.
will update later..
Highly disappointed.
Went today for lunch, in the non-smoking side. Cole & Kimberley were the bartenders. Everything was good at the start; drink orders came fast, gave us a few extra minutes to peruse the menu. Then the business-dress crowd started filing in. As soon as our food came, we might as well have been ghosts. Guess t-shirt & jeans doesn't covey "worthy of attention". After being ignored for 17 minutes (I counted) and have verbal/eye contact ignored, my fiance thrust her arm out to impede Cole's path. She asked for the check far nicer than I could at the moment, he says sure thing. What happens? Comes back from the bar, right past us, and starts taking the order of the table that had just been seated. It took another 5 minutes for the bill to arrive (while I was away talking to a very nice, apologetic manager). We paid, and waited for the card to come back from another five-ish minutes. Kimberley finally brought the signature slip back with the card, laid it in front of me, and walked away without saying a word.
(I'd write such a specific complaint to a corporate email, but one's not listed on their not-been-updated-in-six-months website)
The food is good, for bar food. there are plenty of TVs, the billiards are a fun option, and the music/sound is listenable without being intrusive on conversation. It seems like a fun place to hang out with friends after a tough day at work or to watch a football game. It's certainly not a lunch-friendly location, particularly if you're in a rush.
I had no idea that such places existed where you could still smoke indoors. Â
Since I am no longer a smoker, I would choose to not sit in the smoking section, but the non-smoking section appeared to be hosting a party.
The food was fine, nothing spectacular.
Seems like a funnish place to play pool and darts and have a cheap drink.
Not a bad place to grab a beer. Very informal laid back. Bar tenders are fast and friendly. Pool tables look neat and clean. I haven't eaten here but the drinks are great. They also have live entertainment through out the week. Bathrooms are clean and that's a (+1) in my book. Thanks See you soon
Review Source:There are 2 sides to Bungalow.
When you clear the very strange all metal door (seriously what's up with that?) Â You can turn left and go into the smoking bar with many pool tables, darts and a very long bar or you can turn right into the Americana (formerly monkey bar) which is non smoking. Â The Americana bar has 2 pool tables and a few booths and tables. Â There are flat screen TV's everywhere also, in both bars.
When the weather permits there's also a fenced in area outside on the concrete out front that you may sit in.
I can't stand the smell of smoke on my clothes so I almost never go into the smoking area unless I'm there on seafood night and want to grab come oysters or crab legs.
It's also nice that they don't allow hats and are very up front while checking your id at the door. Â There is ZERO of the shady gang-banger feeling that comes from a bar packed with those strange nylon hats and oversized clothes. Â I've never felt unsafe here.
The food at this place keeps us coming back. Â For bar food it's totally decent and the Friday, Saturday, Sunday Prime Rib is an easy go to item. Â They also have an Ahi Tuna sandwich that I've ordered 10-15 times and when you order it rare it actually comes out rare!
Prices are average for apps and bev's, but I never feel cheated and the waitstaff is personable and attentive.
Bungalow is our family's local go to place for some decent casual food and to watch the Caps or another game.
I have been going to this place for at least 6 years. I don't love it as much as I used to. The bartenders have all changed, and I'll be honest I miss my "original" bartenders to the ones they have now. One in particular that goes by a nick name instead of his real name seems to have mood swings, some days he's nice and friendly, others he's rude, short, and inattentive. Heard one of the bartenders a few years ago got fired because he got sick and they hired a friend of the owner in his place. The general managers, old and new, have never been overly friendly to me despite the fact that I have been a regular for some time.
They do tend to focus on sports a bit too much for my taste. When I'm out with my girlfriends on a Friday or Saturday night I want to hear music, dance, and have fun, I don't want to wait to do so until the game is over. The opportunity fora fun night out has depleted and the DJ doesn't like to take requests much anymore since the regular DJ hasn't been there in the past year or two.
The beer selection is great, they have Woodchuck Cider and just about every liquor under the sun as well. Their food is always good. Prices are average, though the appetizers have gone back up with in the last 2 years.
Some of the regulars are in in their late 20's to early 30's and others are well into their 50's and 60's. Some of the waitresses can be very short and unfriendly but not all and not all the time.
The main reason I go back here on occasion is the fact that I like the people there, it's familiar, and it's not terribly expensive. Although I have been spending more and more time at other bars.
Went there with 3 other guys to watch a football game. The TV behind our table was showing the game we went to see but the TV in front of us was showing a game that no one was watching in the immediate area. So instead of us craning on our neck to watch the game, we figured we would ask the staff to change the channel. We asked the server who said no but sent the manager to talk to us. The manager was a complete jerk about it! He said that there were guys who were sitting completely across the bar were watching that game which wasn't possible at all. I would think that the people sitting the closest to the TV would get preference of the game. He wasn't accommodating at all and was really rude. Wouldn't go there again to watch a game!
Review Source:My new APA poolhall. $0.25 wings until 8(ish) every Tuesday. Happy Hour that goes just as long. The ingredients of a successful poolhall. Later in the evening (9ish) they have live music that is pretty good - usually acoustic artists.
8- and 9-foot tables. Few dart boards. More TVs in the bar area but there are a few tubes around pooltables.
A word of the wise - bring a jacket or hoodie. No matter the time of year, it seems as though the AC is always kicking. Better than sweltering heat, but can be just as bad on your pool game.
Yes, you can smoke on the main side and yes, the smoke-eaters work unlike another poolhall just up RT 50. They even have a non-smoking side with a few pooltables and full bar for your drinking, dining, recreational enjoyment.
I can't speak for people who might come here as the neighborhood bar - they have a large menu and solid draught choices, don't know what else one might want.
Somewhat dirty and cheesy decor. Filled with smoke most of the time. Chrome and leopard print do not belong in a modern establishment. Â Booths feel sticky and have tears in cushions. Not the classiest crowd.
Still, the pool is cheap and the chicken tenders are tasty with a good honey mustard sauce. Seasoned fries are also very good. Nothing special on the beer list which is a drag.
Service isn't great, one time the waitress appeared to be on drugs. But not terrible.
We have some friends who rave about this place, but I don't understand why. Â We had dinner on the bar side, where despite VA's smoking ban, they allow smoking. Â The smoke smell was very strong, even though it wasn't that crowded. Â The non smoking side was reserved for a party on a Saturday evening, so we had no choice on where to sit. Â I had the prime rib special. The only thing prime or special about it was the name. It was the toughest, chewiest prime rib I ever had, more like top sirloin. There wasn't much fat, so if you are on a diet, it's probably a good choice if you have to have prime rib. Service was extremely slow.
They have lots of big screen TV's with a variety of sports programming, including soccer, hockey and March Madness games. Â They offer 32 oz beers in a mason jar and good selection of beers on tap. Â It's probably a great place to play pool or darts or hoist a few after work and some munchies. Â I won't be going back for dinner. Â Jimmy's in Herndon is far better for pub food and service.
I like the food and the tv's are nice. But I've found the waitress service to be mediocre for the most part. Chronic case of disappearing for very long times even when hardly anyone is in the place. I wonder if there's a crap game or something going on in the back? Been going to this place for about a year to watch sports and notice the turnover in waitressess is pretty high. Perhaps that has something to do with the mediocre service. Perhaps they also  need some new bartenders . Unless your a regular regular they ain't too good on the service neither and they sure don't seem to be pulling in a crowd in this most of the time empty place.
Maybe I've just tired of the smoke and the bar for I've found another place without the smoke and tv's just as good. I bid you adieu Bungalow Billards.
Went to Bungalows the other night and ordered some food. The food is some of the best food served by a "bar" in the area. Some friends and I ordered the Nachos, Southwest wraps, and a Personal pizza. All were excellent! The nachos were piled high, the Southwest wraps are the best in the area, and the pizza was above average. I knocked two stars off because even though we were in the non-smoking side you could still smell smoke every once in a while, and because the service was just ok. It was tiupical bar service not resurant service.
Review Source:3.5 stars.
Went on a Friday night to play some pool. Place was fairly crowded but not so crowded that you couldnt move around. Service was decent for the number of people there, the waitresses moved between the crowd, refilled drinks, took orders. The management was visible delivering food, helping out where needed.
Pros:
-Very cute waitresses. Ours in particular was quite ADD, at one point I caught her attention, she came over to take your request then got immediately distracted when another person across the room called out for her. She started walking over there when she realized what she did, turned around with a sheepish grin on her face and came back, it was quite adorable. Yea cute girls get a pass.
Very friendly service, no problems splitting checks, my food order with various changes and requests was delivered perfectly.
-Ordered the blackened chicken sandwich which was quite good. Large chicken breast that was tender and filling, would eat there again.
-Large beers served in 32oz glasses
Cons:
-The floorspace is limited. When it gets crowded the people trying to play pool are constantly bumping into people and asking others to move who are standing around.
-Limited number of pool tables, think I counted 9? My party of 8 had to share 1
-Beer selection was horrendous, the name on the sign outside said -Brew Company-, where is the house beer? Aside from Sam Adams there were zero craft beers that I saw on tap. The big 3 (Anheuser, Coors, Miller) were plentiful thought, even the premium beers, Blue Moon (Coors), Stella Artois (Anheuser) etc were from those companies. Massive disappointed Thankfully the Sam Adams Seasonal is an okay drink.
Would I go back there? Maybe. I liked Hard Time Cafe in fairfax a lot more. The beer selection is far better, there are more pool tables and more floor space between them. The food there is pretty good as well and doesnt seem to be as crowded.
This is my usual Friday night hangout. I'm a big fan of the place because they have tons of pool tables, great food, and a wide selection of beer on tap. The times that I ate here I had the black jack burger and their Buffalo wings. Both items were perfectly done and very, very tasty! The waitstaff is friendly and attentive.
The only downside to this place, for me at least, is the wide age range of people who frequent it...which may or may not be a bad thing. More 20-somethings would be nice.
My husband and I have become regulars at Bungalow. The food is far better than one would expect from a billiards spot. The fajita salad is excellent, and on weekends there is an ongoing special on rib dinners that is outstanding. Prime rib is also available as a weekend special, but the ribs are far better. Great selection of beers, and no discernable underage drinking (they are fairly consistent about ID checks) Families are welcome, especially on weekend days when you can find dad helping his kids learn to play pool. The waitresses are warm and friendly, but professional. Weekday happy hour specials daily; our favorite is dollar margarita mondays.
Review Source:I went to Bungalow Billiards tonight with my roommate - she discovered a few weeks ago that they have Woodchuck on tap. I knew I liked it before I even went because of that.
It was a Saturday night, but at about 6:30, so it was not very crowded. The pool area was reserved for a private party - I did find that a bit odd.
I think we arrived before they have someone checking IDs at the door, but they were checking by the time we headed out.
I was very pleased by the food. It was much better than expected. I had the frickles for an appetizer (deep fried dill pickle slices with a garlic ranch dip). I got it for the name, but it was really good. The roomie got chips and queso. Nothing special, but OK. I had a chicken bacon ranch pizza - which was definitely enough for two people and was delicious. The roomie got a chili cheese burger which got high praise. She noted that the burger tasted like it was actually cooked on a grill, and not made to taste like it was.
Overall, I anticipate returning. Check out the weekday specials - they included buy one get one free burger night and wing specials, among others.
Nice local bar. Â Looks like a dive but their food is actually pretty good. Â Good friendly staff. Â Good deals on bottle beers on Thursdays. Â I like to go there after work once in awhile if I just want to chill and get drunk on the cheap.
Warning: If you ever order the wings, don't choose "Three mile island" (hottest). Â I love hot food and I eat hot food everyday (I'm Korean) and this was even hot for me.
OK, this is a two part review: Â Food and the billiards.
First, the food. Â For a bar, this place has very good food. Â The chef and I have actually went back and forth about how he makes his Jambalaya and I can even get special orders here. Â Avoid the Monte Christo. Â They have specials everyday and what bar has simmered sirloin tips over rice typically? Â One of my favorites is the very reasonably priced lunch combo which is like $5.95 for soup/half sandwich or salad/half sandwich. Â Add free pool and it is a very good bargain. Â This was near my old office so we frequented it quite often. Â It takes a while for the staff to get to know you, like any other place but we did feel like Norm in Cheers after a while, where everybody knows your name. Â We walked in and our drinks were hitting the table almost simultaneously. Â Also, if you are a regular, get the Grub Club card and every 10th meal is free. Â I often got the full rack of ribs when I filled mine up.
The pool: Â The tables get pretty worn out because of the happy hour and the not-so-good players that frequent the place. Â I think I saw refelting of the table once in a year and a half. Â My buddy and I used to joke about the table roll and it was like playing straight on slate sometimes so it could use more maintenance. Â In the Monkey bar side, the tables are a bit too close to the walls so it's not easy to play and there one of the tables are really cock-eyed so if you do a three rail shot, it will almost certainly go in the corner pocket!! Â
Will miss my lunch hours here.
last night, i met up with some friends at the bungalow in chantilly. first, i want to mention that their website is probably one of the most horrendous pieces of steaming crap i've ever seen. autoplaying music with no apparent "off" switch? that's like one of the seven deadly sins of web design, assholes. anyway, i began my trip towards the most worthless bar of all time.
upon first glance, it looked pretty decent inside. they had a short mexican doorman who didn't intimidate me in the slightest. there were a few pool tables, which were all occupied. i managed to find my friends after smashing through a wall of douchebags filling the entire bar area. i wish this were the worst part.
i asked my buddies what they wanted to drink and geniunely planned on buying a round or two. if only it were as easy as it sounds. i sat at the bar, waving and trying to get the attention of either of the mere two bartenders scrambling to line their pockets with tip money. apparently they didn't want my money, because neither of them even stopped for me. the female bartender did not acknowledge my very existence for at least 20 minutes, so i tried the male bartender. as he walked by, i yelled, "hey, can i order something?"
he looked at me in the eye, and proceeded to turn around and make someone else's drinks. the end.
i probably wasted over an hour just hanging out, patiently waiting to be served. i'm typically a fairly patient dude, so i wasn't stressin' it. we bounced to my friend's house where there was plenty of beer that i didn't have to wait an hour for some jackass to NOT give me.
dear the bungalow,
  go to hell.
love, kevin.
One of my roommates really likes pool. He enters nine ball tournaments and tries to play regularly. [This has died down recently in favor of ping-pong, darts, and Halo 3 as we don't have a pool table here.] As a result, I've been to a few pool halls in my time.
A group of us [probably about ten people, give or take] decided to check out Bungalow on the recommendation of a friend. It's a little hard to find because it's in a strip mall, but if memory serves it's near the Lowe's.
We nabbed a table and after a beer I reckoned it was safe to show off my abysmal p00l skillz. There are some places where you get a bunch of elitist pool snobs who watch your game and then judge you with beady eyes, wiping their nose upon the metaphorical shirt of your pool game. This is not one of those places. There were a couple of good players, but the one playing next to us was really nice [and threw some tips our way].
We were able to be obnoxious and drunk and have fun with the other people in the bar. Our waitress kept up with all of our orders and brought refills promptly when asked. The food was good, so far as bar food goes. I remember chicken fingers and...onion rings? Most likely. Somebody had some kind of chicken pizza that they said was really good, but I didn't try it.
We've only been there once because it's a little ways out there, but I'd imagine we'd go there again if someone felt compelled to go again. All in all, a decent place worth hitting up if you're looking for a pool hall that's not sketchy [cough, Fast Eddie's, cough] or snotty in the Chantilly area.
I wanted to give this dump a review but it needs me to give it a star which this place doesn't deserve. I visited this place sometime in June of 2007. The staff are EXTREMELY rude and the bar itself smelt awful. Most of the locals are dumb rednecks who don't know what a good time is.
The place was EXTREMELY dirty e.g. tables and chairs. They hassled me so much on the door about my ID (I have a valid UK driving license) that I felt like just going elsewhere. If it weren't from my friends then i would of.
Let me give this SHIT HOLE a few tips...
1. Tell your door staff to be more polite and welcoming. After all the impression us customers get at the door will give us an overall impression of your bar.
2. You have enough staff in that place to keep the place clean, SO DO IT!
So take those 2 tips and get to work. However it would still not change my mind, I'll never visit your shit hole again!
I really like this place. Â Thursday nights are $1 beer nights... 5-8pm. Â Great food, several pool tables and very friendly staff! Â They do not let kiddies in here after 4pm or so...so not for families (that's probably why I like it a lot!). I have no complaints about this place! Â Try it out if you're ever in the area.
Review Source:Could not give less than a star! Completely for desparados or red necks. Unfriendly staff who instead of welcoming ask you to show ID or take your hat off. Very uncomfortable setting and crowd lack the Hip factor.
The baldy-beardy dwarf (seems like he would be driving red-ford with Git-R-Done sticker on it) who is at the entrance will ask over weight honcho bouncer to show the ID. The honcho in his meeky-squeaky voice like Papa's Lil Girl will lecture you on house rules, if you did not take your hat-off.
You would have now known I AM COMPLETELY DISGUSTED BY THIS PLACE!! Could not hate more. I am done
Bungalow's Billiard's is a favorite among the working crowd for their delicious (and cheap!) lunch time menu, great service, and happy hours. Â Thursday night you will find everyone in their business casual finest enjoying $1 domestic bottles from 5-8. Â Bungalow's is split in two -- the Monkey bar, predominantly non-smoking with booths and two pool tables -- and the smoking side. Â The smoking side generally doesn't fill up until the earlier evening as it's filled primarily with pool tables and a large bar. Â The entire bar/restaurant has a "tiki/beach" feel and the items on the menu are named accordingly. Â The food is generally American style, with wings as appetizers, a large array of sandwiches, and some larger platters. Â My particular favorite is the "chickie dunewich" (which is also a healthier alternative). Â One of the best things about Bungalow's is the amazing iced tea and other array of drinks served in large, glass jam jars. Â Refills are free but you definitely won't need one! Â During the lunch hour and happy hour the crowd is definitely younger professional, however any other time the age range hits 35-45ish.
