Everything overly priced. Bunch of gangsters hanging by the front and back entrance smoking. I don't get the name even though I'm Asian. Top it off the chick who was bartending *I was told* she added an extra zero to my brothers tab when she ran his credit card. Took a whole week to get it back. What kind of fool adds an extra zero to any amount when running a customers credit card. Idgaf how busy you are.. You should always check what you pushed in before scanning.

Should of known this place is over priced and a bunch of under age drinkers.

Please don't message me offering me a coupon or discount because of this rating. I'm also not going to erase this rating. Had that been me that received all the over draft fees from that extra *zero* things wouldn't be soo pleasant! But hearing about it just irked my nerves. Friends gave it bad ratings and here I am being optimistic and giving them two tries... All failed.

Giau's Bar N Bites is hands down one of my favorite places to go.  I love the ambience, the crowd, food, drink specials, and the location.  It is definately a place that I can go to relax, unwind, and destress after a long day at work and with the kids.

Here are some of the pluses to Giau's
    - Location - It's located in a great location facing Bellaire, in an extremely safe shopping center.  There are multiple cops patrolling this shopping center every single night.  I cannot stress this enough as there are places in chinatown I would not want to be caught dead at 1AM unless I wanted to be dead. This IS hands down the safest place to be at any time of the day and night.

    - Menu - Giau's menu has steadily grown and expanded over the last year.  Giau's is not only is a bar, but also a full-fledged restaurant.  They have unique dishes such as the Avocado bomb and Giau's Pizza.  Both awesome!  Their food is pretty good and filling.  They've also added an expansive non-alcoholic drink menu in addition to their alcoholic drinks.   Love their Korean BBQ Spare ribs, calamari, and mini-sliders!  Shoot, sometimes you're in chinatown but craving a burger...but no place to go.....next time Giau's..   Some places offer a limited selection of food, but at Giau's, you can definately have a full dinner as well as come here for drinks.

Crowd/Ambience - Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights are usually packed and the DJ definately adds some excitement to the start of the weekend. Also on Friday and Saturday nights, they clear the stage and there are 2 dancers that dance all night long.  People also go up and join in on the fun.  80-85% of the crowd here are young professionals or late college age.

Alcohol - Giau's has a very comprehensive selection of alcohol, almost anything that you can think of,  they have or can make.  They also have pretty decent prices on bottle service, anything from Hennessy to Grey Goose to Soju.

VIP Area - They have a private area in the back with 5-6 couches. This is awesome for parties and can be reserved ahead of time for large groups.  It can fit about 30-40 people easily.    We reserved this for a triple birthday party this year, and everyone had a blast.  It's great because even though you have you rown space, it's not so secluded where you can't see and hear the rest of bar.   It really is a great place for large groups to mingle.

Management and Staff -   I cannot say enough good things about the management:  They are friendly and welcoming.  They will come and talk to you to get to know you, and drink with you when they can.   The wait staff is  usually pretty attentive, and for my single guy friends they are not too hard on the eyes.   If you want to drink with one of the staff, all you need to do is ask for permission from management.  Management and staff will often stay a few hours past closing so their customers can drive home safely.

Discount - Check in on Facebook, and you will receive 10% off any and every time you go.

Happy Hours and Specials - They have daily happy hour from 4-8 and daily specials(Sun-Thur) which are different and run all evening.  For example on Thursday nights, they often have $2.00 beers, $5.00 Texas Titos, $10 Texas Twist.  Monday nights when sports games are on, sometimes they'll have $5.00 wings, 2 dollar domestics and 3 dollar imports.  And lately from Sunday-Thursday, they have HUGE crawfish platter special going on.   Wednesday nights if memory serves me right, they use to have wine night, but lately it's been $5.00 lychee saktini's.  On Tuesdays, i think it was $5.00 Cosmos and Martinis and something else.  These specials continually change so definately check it out.

Negatives - There are very few negative things I can say about Giau's.
    - The dang construction on Bellaire is never-ending!! What is up with that?  My advice, exit Beechnut and go the back way to get into the shopping center or if you are coming from 59 take Westpark, exit bellaire on Beltway 8.
    -  Even though they have an expansive drink menu, they have no boba and milk tea and some of the selections of hot teas that my friends like at teabar and cafe 101.  With so many places offering it(next door to the left, next door to the right, next door behind, etc), I can understand why they don't offer it, but once in a while I get that craving for tapioca and milk tea.
    - Thurs-Sat, it can get packed and when the DJ spins, sometimes you just need to talk a little bit louder for your friends to hear.  It just means you gotta squeeze and sit a little bit closer!

In summary, I most definately recommend Giau's to anyone that wants a good meal, good drinks, and an exciting place to hangout.   It's such a great alternative to Washington when you're just not in the mood to deal with all that The Heights has to offer.    Definately check out Giau's!!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The food is pretty good, we got the dumplings and calimari. Both were delicious. As for drinks we got the rainbow shots, where it was seven shots but they were made kind of weak... I also didn't appreciate the waitress saying that I would only be able to handle three on my own, when they were made so weakly.

I think it's a pretty nice place to go if you're going to go karaoke afterwards and you want some pre-singing drinks or some food.

    I would definitely come back.

Just a lounge where u can grab a few drinks or heck bottle service along with food service.

I came here a few random times on a weeknight/weekend to meet up friends.
This weekend I stopped by to meet up friends. There  was a dj along with 2 go go dancers. Which I found odd, bit the customers were having a good time. The dj was spinning r&b-hip hop. With a twist if old school. Nice vibe I say.  The place was pretty slow for a Saturday night.

I tasted my friends food. The wings were pretty small. Flavors were eh.. They had fries like the food truck. It was ok, just shoe string drizzled with spicy mayo, siracha. Topped with caramelized onion & cilantro. I didn't taste any of the meat because there wasn't much to try.
I don't recall tasting or eating kimchi.

Good place to chill or meet up friends.

Been calling this place home on a Friday night for the past few months...

I consider this place an Asian bar, with a sports bar kind of vibe. The interior is very modern...and the bar stocks a good amount of Cognac, as should be expected for an Asian bar (not sure why, but for some reason Asians like their cognac).

There is always a game on, and the waitresses are very attractive (thus the sports bar feel).

They offer bottle service as well...and there are some nice plush couches semi-separated from the rest of the crowd for you to enjoy your overpriced bottle. The food is not horrible, but there really isn't anything on the menu I can recommend. It basically all looks and tastes similar to typical Asian cafe food fare.

However. I always have a good time at Giau's...Honestly, it's probably because I get the "Norm from Cheers" treatment every time I walk in!

I like the idea, and the food isn't half bad. But I'm just not feeling it. I can't put my finger on what it is with this place, but the ambience just doesn't attract me. Maybe I'll change my mind after I give it a few more tries.

So a couple of my friends have been writing raving reviews about this place so I figured it was worth a try.  I made the mistake however to go during non-happy hour non weekend night.  So I missed out on the happy hour specials along with the music and go-go dancers.

So this place is an Asian sports bar if that makes sense.  They have a few tvs around playing sports, but they are not well placed and the channels are not well dispersed.

As far as the food they have interesting Asian bar food, it was good but it was expensive.  We had the calamari, green tea noodles, starlight, and avocado bomb.

For drinks we had sake and a specialty martini  Once again it was just pricey.

Now onto the reason most people are coming here: the waitresses.  This is where the eye candy is.  Most of the girls are very young, like 18 years old, so don't get yourself into something you can't handle =P

I've been here many times and the only problem I have with this place is that they need more waitresses. I understand if there are only two to three waitresses during happy hour. However, after happy hour this place can get packed on weekends. I love their drinks but I must say they are very light on the alcohol in their mixed drinks.
I always request my drinks to be stronger or i'll just order adios mfer(fruity yet it'll give you a slight buzz at the end) and the texas tea(really strong).

4 stars for the eye candy.

There's another location on the West side of 8, so don't get confused if you decide to meet up with friends at this one.

Interior is really nice and modern, so you're not walking into some hole in the wall AZN gangsta hangout. Flat screen tvs are at the bar and around the restaurant, with a projector screen at the front.

They have daily specials, and the variety of bottled beer is very impressive (20+?).  They also a full bar with their own shots and drink concoctions, as well as sake. I love doing sake bombs, and apparently one girl loved it so much she decided to share her love with all of us patrons by displaying it on the way to the restroom. I didn't realize i stepped in the wake until after I heard the sloshing sound....

But yeah, I remain unperturbed, as this place is a good after-dinner drink spot without having to drive elsewhere.

Oh, and they also have food, as I almost forgot to mention! Very few main entrees, as they are mainly snack foods.  The sushi pizza is pretty interesting, and the wild boar is good! Too bad there were more sauteed onions than meat, but it was still tasty.

So to re-summarize, come here and hang out with the boys while getting your drink on!

Came here for a date night with a girlfriend on a weeknight. It's right across from Cafe 101. I walked into a modern loungey feel. Food was tasty, the green tea noodles were delicious. My drink was really strong...a little too strong, but that's not a bad thing. Our waitress was really nice too. Don't mind coming back to try something new.

This is our "go-to" place for casual sports bar viewing and dining in the Houston Chinatown/Asia Town area near beltway 8 & Bellaire.  The waitstaff have always been super friendly and the menu offers a nice vietnamese alternative to the typical sports bar cuisine of Houston.  There are more than enough tv's to catch the football game of the week and we can usually find a decent table here.  The menu itself has a wide variety of dishes ranging from noodles and rice dishes to more sports bar friendly finger foods with an asian twist like stuffed squid, sushi rolls and shrimp twisters.

I'm Vietnamese and I don't really understand the name of this restaurant/bar/quan nhau..lol

We came in for a few drinks. The waitress was kind of annoyed at the beginning when we told her we won't be eating since we just ate ( there are too many restaurants in this plaza) but then she changed her attitute after one of my guy friends started flirting with her..hehe.

The drink was OK. I had a mango mojitos and it was very minty.  I didn't taste the mango at all.

Overall, i think this place is just average, nothing too special. Maybe a good spot to watch sport?

I was a little skeptical walking in, but my friend recommended this place so.. in we went! First impression: the decor was very nice! This bar has a very modern and clean feel. Very open area and plenty of seating and tables. We came in on a Sunday night to watch the Texan's game and they have a couple of big screens. The crowd inside is mostly young asians (of course) and I felt comfortable inside.

We didn't order any food but we did share 2 bottles of lychee flavored Sake (yum!) that was sold for a decent price. We didn't try any of the mixed drinks but we'll save that for the next visit. Overall, pleasant experience and I'll probably be back.

The name kinda suggest exactly what this place is about. Pretty cool place to grab a few drinks and some yummy food. I've only been here once, so far. I had Hue beer for the first time, and it is now my fav beer. Food wise, I had the steamed periwinkles with lemongrass and spicy fish sausce, deep fried quails, and Thai hot pot. I really liked the periwinkles (even though I had to work very hard to get all the little suckas out of their shells), and the quails. I didn't really care for the hot pot. I make better hot pots at home. Overall, it was a pleasant first visit. I will be back.

This probably isn't a fair review of the entirety of the place since all I had was a strawberry mimosa and some calamari during happy hour but nonetheless, here it goes.

Came in here around 5:30 ish so happy hour was still going on. The waitress/hostess was average, refilled waters when needed, and gave me no attitude. Pretty good for the Chinatown area if you ask me.

Whatever Strawberry syrup or flavoring they're using for the Strawberry Mimosa is weak because I barely tasted any essence of strawberry, at least they didn't cheat me on the champagne...? But if I wanted just pink colored champagne I would've ordered that...right...?

The Calamari was decent. Small rings but at least it was crispy and served hot.

Average at best. I'm sure during the night when a lot of the other business are closed and you really don't want to be fighting with the teenyboppers at Cafe 101, this place is a great choice.

This may be my new "go-to" happy hour spot in Houston!  First off, I'm not sure you will go here for the atmosphere or the service (I have been several times and it is hit or miss - and the misses were big).  However, if you want great drink deals and excellent food on the cheap - you need to check this place out!

As far as drink specials go, specialty drinks like the Lychee, Mango and Green Tea Martini's will set you back $4.  Ok, I couldn't resist trying one of these... I guess my man card will be revoked.  Of course they do feature "regular" martini's on the Happy Hour Menu, so I went with the Green Tea (it seemed more manly).  Anyway, it pretty darn good and not sweet at all which is more appealing to my pallet.  Also, they feature well drinks for $4 and several different varieties of Mimosas for $3.  No beer specials unfortunately...

So as far as food goes, you get $3 off all menu items - this includes the $5 Gyoza which is crispy and delicious (for $2, it is worth a try).  Honestly, I haven't tried anything I've hated but I will highlight 2 items specifically.  The Avocado Bomb is a thing of beauty - seriously, the plating is really cool.  It is pretty much a deconstructed sushi roll minus the rice - tuna, avocado, crab meat, spicy mayo and some type of ponzu/soy sauce.  What's not to love and it is a generous portion!  Also, give the Volcano Roll a try if you like Crawfish (they don't skimp on the Crawfish either!)

Ok, so here is the negative other than the service.  I have been here in the evening when the DB factor is pretty prevalent.  It does have this wanna-be club atmosphere - loud music and scantily clad waitresses.  I don't get that as much during Happy Hour, but you have been warned!

Nice decor (even though most of the stuff is from IKEA).  The music was bit loud but we were still able to carry on a conversation. The drinks were ~ $8 but VERY WEAK.  I switched to beer after 2 drinks knowing I'd have to spend a fortune to get a light buzz.  The waitresses were bit snooty nut helpful enough.

I was quite surprised by the posh interior, especially since this place seemed like a hole-in-the-wall from the outside, relegated to the side building in the Dun Huang shopping area. But that was a pleasant surprise -- the modern decor and upbeat music made me feel like I was ready to dance, or at least toss back a few drinks.

I'm glad that the drink menu also includes a few fruity ones like lychee mimosa -- this is partially why I would choose going to a place like this as opposed to other Houston bars.

I came here for a mixer, and yes, you can actually hear yourself over the din. On recommendation from a friend, I tried the boar off the appetizer section and the oxtail soup. If you like lemongrass, the boar is for you because there's lots of it! I'm not particularly a fan of the oxtail soup but my date liked it. It comes with a side of noodles.

Service is quick if you can get the bartender's attention. There's a couple of flat screen tv's which was tuned to a sports channel. Hope this nice joint doesn't turn into a sports bar.

Went there on a Wendesday night with a friend, more or less stumbled upon the place and hovered outside until we finally went in.  Why? because it really is the only bar in the immediate area but once we stepped inside we were impressed.  It is hard to spot from the street level located on the newer construction buildings on the ground level across from the "main" strip of Dun Huang plaza

The owner Julie which we both thought was a bartender at first was extremely knowledgeable about all of the various wines, sakes especially and gave great opinions on what to select.  Seems very passionate about her  establishment.   The actual bartender or waitress however seemed very green and the inexperience really showed though...

The ambience is just right for me at least, very modern, urban, and chic but a very clean feeling.  Definately a nice place for a drink after everything and I believe they are open till 2am every day? (not sure if all 7 days).

Don't know about their food because well, we went there just for drinks after dinner but i'd say I will definately be back there again.

    New place to drink! :D

I pretty much love everything about this place. This is exactly what Chinatown needed.

The ambiance is rather dim and intimate, sort of contemporary.  There's booths along the right side, a few tables lined along the middle, seating at the bar, and an area in the back in which I'm assuming is for larger groups/parties? Great for date nights, after-dinner drinks, or just a place to gather around with friends. I've found myself coming here with groups of friends to just be in each other's company while downing a few drinks. They play a variety of music for more of a younger adult crowd; hip-hop, r&b, house, etc. And this place is located in the heart of Chinatown, same plaza as Tea Bar, KTV karaoke, and Jungle Cafe. It's not hard to find, but Chinatown on Bellaire on its own is a bitch. And keep in mind that this place tends to get crowded on Friday and Saturday nights; so if you're looking for a more quiet evening, I wouldn't recommend going on those nights. I still find this place well worth coming to, though!

The bartenders and waitresses are pretty chill. They can be very patient, considering the fact that my group of friends had to keep on asking our waitress to come back time and time again for us to order, she'd still come back each time with a genuine smile on her face and not an "OMG just get this order over with already!" vibe. If she were faking it, she did a pretty damn good job at not showing her angst. Haha.

    ON TO THE FOOD!

Their food is pretty similar to Genji's: Asian style. You won't be seeing any burgers or wings here, but you will see things like french fries, edamame, fried calamari, baked clams, Korean bbq, and sushi on GiAu's menu. Now for a bar n' bites place, GiAu really does sell some good ass sushi. I'd say it rivals up to restaurant quality such as Top Sushi or Kaneyama! If you're looking for specialty rolls, go for either of the first two items on the sushi list: the Godiva roll and the Attractive Lady roll. If you're looking for something more basic, I'm always down for chopped scallop sushi and a (spicy) salmon roll. Either way, GiAu doesn't skimp out on their fish. It's generous and quite fresh. Especially if you're eating late-night sushi, who are we to complain?! I also highly recommend the GiAu pancake: crabmeat, avocado, spicy tuna/salmon, tempura flakes, eel sauce, spicy mayo, and masago all layered and piled on top of a crispy pancake. Mmmmm...

If you're looking for something sweet, they sell some yummy macarons (last I remembered, they sold coconut and coffee). And for you Vietnamese folks out there, they sell longan drinks! Ugh, I haven't had one of those in a long time! So nostalgic lol (:

As for the drinks, I've found myself going for the Japanese Sunset, which consists of rum, sake, grenadine, and (I believe) orange/pineapple juices. It's got the right amount of fruityness, sweetness, and a kick from the alcohol without it tasting too bitter. This is also one of the few places that sells Bud Light Platinum, pretty much the only beer I wouldn't mind drinking (and I hate beer).

Overall, awesome place. Great food. Great drinks. Great service. Great ambiance. Oh, and they've got some sort of lunch special too, this month for their grand opening. You should definitely try this place out!

It is a newly established bar, has the right ambiance, atmosphere. Great for couples, friends gathering. They have a good selection of sake. In terms of food, I recommend the wild boar dish, avocado bomb, whelk. Good food, good drinks.

Decor and atmosphere is very contemporary and nice. The music, atmosphere, drinks, and food is perfect for sitting down with a few drink and chat with friends. Came in for drinks only, but the menu looks pretty good with filet mignon, hot pot, and snacks. Managment (Julie) came out an asked us how we were doing and was very open to suggestions and criticism. I will be a regular!
