I've been wanting to try H&S since it opened, and finally got the chance last night with my friend.

I arrived a bit early for our reservation and was seated immediately. The host (who came to check on us later - very thoughtful!) gave me the choice of where to sit and we ended up in the corner booth upstairs.

The waiter was super attentive, and even checked with the kitchen on a few different things for us, without seeming annoyed or put-out.

We decided to split some appetizers and then get our own entrees, so we ended up splitting:
    - Brushetta (Tomatoes, fresh garlic, onion, cilantro, asparagus & goat cheese on toast points): this was light and really flavorful. The bread broke easily when you bit into it, but it wasn't soggy or messy.
    - Pecan stuffed dates wrapped with bacon with a maple drizzle: I, unfortunately, did not think to drag mine in the maple drizzle. But nonetheless, these were AMAZING.

Negative: there were 2 of us, but they brought 3 pieces of Brushcetta and 5 dates. Even numbers for an even-numbered party, please!

We both ended up getting the Spring Salad (Mixed greens, strawberies, blueberries, manchego cheese, candied pecans, mango berry dressing) with Grilled Chicken. We didn't LOVE the mango berry dressing - it was overly sweet, but yet not quite flavorful. We asked for a Balsamic to round it out, which apparently they don't have. So the waiter brought us a small thing of Citrus Lime dressing.

Overall, I really enjoyed my meal and entire experience and want to come back to try everything else on the menu!

Ah, my new go-to spot.  The best words I could use to describe Hops N Scotch: slightly yuppy without the bromosphere.  If you're looking for a nice bar to hang out and get drinks with your friends, I highly recommend Hops N Scotch.  I've been here a couple of times and the service has always been really great.  The food...is good.  I've tried a couple of things off the menu; can't say that I don't like the food, but I just haven't eaten anything mind blowing.  I'd give the food menu 3 stars--good, but there's room for creativity and improvement.  Drink menu on the other hand - 5 stars.  You won't find any PBR or bud lights here, but they have tons of craft beers to choose from and a pretty impressive scotch/whiskey list.  Limited metered parking, but it's right off of the C line - coolidge corner stop or if travelling by bus, coolidge corner stop on the 66.
****One important detail: no shots here****
If you're looking to get crunk off shots, I'd go down Harvard Street to Allston.

Went there with a group of 10 for a going away party. Made a reservation and got a great table. Ther service was great and plenty of beers to choose from. The food was pretty good for bar food. Would come back!
